  • MySQL update query, how to skip empty values?

    I've got such query: $sql = "UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '$owner_id', acc_policy_version = '$version', acc_policy_last_update = '$approved', acc_policy_next_update = '$renewed' WHERE acc_id = '1'"; Now, all of these values on the web folmular are optional, one can set one of these values, two, or so. Now, after I submit the form, it goes in the query like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '2', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '2012-12-19', acc_policy_next_update = '2012-12-18' WHERE acc_id = '1' It works only when I submit all values from the form. Can you please show me how could it work even if not all the values has been sent, just for example one of them? When I set one value (f.ex. policy version), it looks like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '', acc_policy_next_update = '' WHERE acc_id = '1' and it isn't working. It might be possible cause of the acc_owner table values? #1366 - Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'acc_owner' at row 1 Thanks in advice.

  • Behaviour to simulate an enum implementing an interface

    Say I have an enum something like: enum OrderStatus { AwaitingAuthorization, InProduction, AwaitingDespatch } I've also created an extension method on my enum to tidy up the displayed values in the UI, so I have something like: public static string ToDisplayString(this OrderStatus status) { switch (status) { case Status.AwaitingAuthorization: return "Awaiting Authorization"; case Status.InProduction: return "Item in Production"; ... etc } } Inspired by the excellent post here, I want to bind my enums to a SelectList with an extension method: public static SelectList ToSelectList<TEnum>(this TEnum enumObj) however, to use the DisplayString values in the UI drop down I'd need to add a constraint along the lines of : where TEnum has extension ToDisplayString Obviously none of this is going to work at all with the current approach, unless there's some clever trick I don't know about. Does anyone have any ideas about how I might be able to implement something like this?

    Hi Using Actionscript and or in the Flash IDE you can either instantiate bitmaps from the library, or simply import bitmaps into the timeline of a MovieClip to create an image sequence. How would you do the same thing in InterfaceBuilder and-or using ObjectiveC? Do I need to create a new view for each and every image?

  • MySQL Limiting a query to one consistent value

    My current query returns a table like: +------------+ value1 | .... value1 | .... value2 | .... value3 | .... +------------+ I want: +------------+ value1 | .... value1 | .... +------------+ I want to only receive all rows with the first value. Normally I would do a WHERE clause if I knew that value, and I cannot use a LIMIT because each value has a different number of rows. Right now My query looks like "SELECT u.*, n.something, w.* FROM ... AS u, ... AS n, ... AS w WHERE u.id = n.id AND w.val = n.val AND u.desc LIKE '%GET REQUEST VARIABLE%';" This works great, except I get way too many rows and using PHP to do this ruins code portability and is superfluous.   • Is there anything wrong with a class with all static methods?

    I'm doing code review and came across a class that uses all static methods. The entrance method takes several arguments and then starts calling the other static methods passing along all or some of the arguments the entrance method received. It isn't like a Math class with largely unrelated utility functions. In my own normal programming, I rarely write methods where Resharper pops and says "this could be a static method", when I do, they tend to be mindless utility methods. Is there anything wrong with this pattern? Is this just a matter of personal choice if the state of a class is held in fields and properties or passed around amongst static methods using arguments?

    before answer me plz thinking about the futures of these kind of program and answer me plz. I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file? IF your answer is I must use the first way follow this part plz: do u have any Idea for how I parse the output?because for example the result of a table is so confusing...[i can handle & program it but I really need someone experience,because the important things to me learn how such software work so nice and with quick response?] All of the has different style in output...   • Start a thread using a method pointer

I'm trying to develop a thread abstraction (POSIX thread and thread from the Windows API), and I would very much like it to be able to start them with a method pointer, and not a function pointer. What I would like to do is an abstraction of thread being a class with a pure virtual method "runThread", which would be implanted in the future threaded class. I don't know yet about the Windows thread, but to start a POSIX thread, you need a function pointer, and not a method pointer. And I can't manage to find a way to associate a method with an instance so it could work as a function. I probably just can't find the keywords (and I've been searching a lot), I think it's pretty much what Boost::Bind() does, so it must exist. Can you help me ?

  • If I cast an IQueryable as an IEnumerable then call a Linq extension method, which implementation gets called?

    Considering the following code: IQueryable<T> queryable; // something to instantiate queryable var enumerable = (IEnumerable<T>) queryable; var filtered = enumerable.Where(i => i > 3); In the final line, which extension method gets called? Is it IEnumerable<T>.Where(...)? Or will IQueryable<T>.Where(...) be called because the actual implementation is still obviously a queryable? Presumably the ideal would be for the IQueryable version to be called, in the same way that normal polymorphism will always use the more specific override. In Visual Studio though when I right-click on the Where method and "Go to Definition" I'm taken to the IEnumerable version, which kind of makes sense from a visual point-of-view. My main concern is that if somewhere in my app I use Linq to NHibernate to get a Queryable, but I pass it around using an interface that uses the more general IEnumerable signature, I'll lose the wonders of deferred database execution!

    I have 3 tables in my database. ab_contacts id first_name last_name addressbook_id ab_addressbooks name id co_comments id link_id comment I'd like to create a query that will let me select all the contacts and comments related to them in a given addressbook. To select all the people in a given addressbook, I can use: select count(*) from ab_contacts where addressbook_id = '50'; This returns 8152 people. However, when I run my query: select ab_contacts.first_name, ab_contacts.last_name, ab_contacts.email, ab_addressbooks.name, co_comments.comments from ab_contacts JOIN ab_addressbooks ON (ab_contacts.addressbook_id = ab_addressbooks.id) JOIN co_comments ON (ab_contacts.id = co_comments.link_id) WHERE ab_contacts.addressbook_id = '50';` the format works, but I only get 1045 results. I'm sure there is something I am missing, but I cannot figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I need to create a couple of UIButtons programmatically in my app (iOS 6.0 and above). Each button should have the optimal width to display button label text (of various lenghts). I want to display the buttons in a "wrap around" style: Starting from the left edge, each button should be positioned next to each other horizontally (in a defined order), and if a button does not fit in the current "line", it should start a new line on the left edge below the previous line. I could manually calculate the frame of each button in my code, but should I use AutoLayout (with programmatically creates NSLayoutConstraints) instead? How exactly would I need to set it up?

  • override __set in __construct() in php?

    I have a class based on database values. I'm using __set to automatically sync database values with the class properties. Set checks an array of database fields that it is allowed to update in the database. The field 'id' isn't in the list, so __set will throw an exception if you try to do $objDbRow->id = 5;. However, there is one time when I do want to set the id property of the object, and that's on instantiation. So in __constuct, I have $this->id = $id (where $id is passed to __construct). However, __set seems to be intercepting the setting here, because an exception is being thrown on construction. What's the way to get around this? I suppose I also have a boolean flag, like $instantiated, that __set() would check before it does it's field whitelist checking. But that feels inelegant.
