• WPF Two Commands handlers, One Command

  Im deriving from a third party control. It is implementing ApplicationCommands.SelectAll. However the behaviour i want is slightly different. there is no virtual method i can override, and when i register a class handler, like so CommandManager.RegisterClassCommandBinding(typeof(MyDerivedControl), new CommandBinding(ApplicationCommands.SelectAll, new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(OnExecutedSelectAll), new CanExecuteRoutedEventHandler(OnCanExecuteSelectAll))); My methods do not get called. The third party control i am deriving from is marking e.Handled=true; in its command handlers ( i know this cause i have seen the source, but i cant modify it ) What can i do?

  Hi all, I am trying to find a way to get the Property to which a control is bound (in c#). If I have the following: <dxe:ComboBoxEdit DisplayMember="Name" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=NameOptions, Mode=OneTime}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=Name, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> I am now trying to get the location to which the SelectedItem is bound to, i.e. the result should be "Name". Then in code I need to do some stuff with that ViewModel Property. Issue is that I can't just hard code this as it is a generic method that needs to work with each control on the form. • Does Visual Studio Localhost ASP.NET debugging allow caching?

  The title pretty much says it all, but here's the issue. I have an generic handler that returns Javascript; the only line of code that deals with caching that I put in is the following: context.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); context.Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddYears(1)); context.Response.ContentType = "text/javascript"; context.Response.Write("result"); I'm debugging on localhost. out of Visual Studio 2008, (that's "localhost." so fiddler picks it up) and Fiddler2 sees the expire date, but says that the cache header is set to private, and the page isn't being cached. Can anybody see what's going wrong here?

• Throwing exceptions as well as catching exceptions?

  I was wondering how Java takes the following scenario public static void main(String[] args) throws IndexOutOfBoundsException, CoordinateException, MissionException, SQLException, ParserConfigurationException { try { doSomething(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } In the above code, I am declaring the main function to throw many different exceptions, but inside the function, I am catching the generic Exception. I am wondering how java takes this internally? I.e., say doSomething() throws an IndexOutOfBounds exception, will the e.printStackTrace() get called in the last catch (Exception e) {...} block? I know if an exception not declared in the throws area of the function gets thrown, the try/catch will handle it, but what about exceptions mentioned in the declaration?

  I am selecting an IEnumerable<dynamic> from the database using Rob Conery's Massive framework. The structure comes back in a flat format Poco C#. I need to transform the data and output it to a Json array (format show at bottom). According to "The right way to use varargs to pass one or more arguments" by Bloch's Item 42 I create smt like class Foo{ private final ImmutableList<Integer> bar; public Foo(Integer first, Integer... other) { this.bar = ImmutableList.<Integer>builder() .add(first) .addAll(Arrays.asList(other)) .build(); } } Why builder doesn't get generic automatically? And, as it smells. How I can rewrite it?

• BLOB Reading via IHttpAsyncHandler

  Hi, I am storing images in SQL Server 2000 database (BLOB type). There is a web page in my ASP.NET application which need to show a lot images to the end user and i want to handle browser's requests for images through a IHttpAsyncHandler. I found a similer post on codeproject "Asynchronous HTTP Handler for Asynchronous BLOB DataReader." But for some reasons, page get freeze upon completion of "BeginProcessRequest" method and "EndProcessRequest" method never get call. Can anyone look at this post and let me know whats wrong in that post? OR what i need to do to complete this task (BLOB Reading via IHttpAsyncHandler)?

• ASP.NET MVC ViewModelBuilder Suggestions

  For anything but trival view models, I use a view model builder that handles the responsibility of generating the view model object. Right now, I use constructor injection of the builders into my controllers but this smells a little since the builder is really dependent upon which action method is being executed. I have two ideas in mind. The first one would involve a custom ActioFilter allowing me to decorate each action method with the appropriate builder to use. The second would be to add an override of the View method that is open to accepting a generic. This is what my code currently looks like. Note, the builder get injected via the ctor. [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View(accountBuilder.Build()); } Here is what option one would look like: [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress, ViewModelBuilder(typeof(IMyAccountViewModelBuilder)] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View(accountBuilder.Build()); } Or option two: [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View<IMyAccountViewModelBuilder>(); } Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

  I followed the tutorial found here and added my own flare to it: tutorial What I was looking to accomplish was to put a specific image on the left and right side of the list item. So instead of just the generic <li id="blob"></li> created in the tutorial, I did <li id="blob"><div class="blob-wrap"><div class="leftimage"></div><div class="rightimage"></div></li> to accomplish the particular effect I wanted. It works beautifully ... except that the image attempts to bounce back the "currentPageItem" if I leave the mouse hovering over one of the list items. Here's a JS Bin example: http://jsbin.com/odome What do I need to do to fix it? jQuery is firing the "hoverOut" function (or whatever you want to call it). But why?

  Hi, My main application creates a new BackgroundWorker X the DoWork event handler of X calls a method Y of my controller. This method creates the WebRequest (async.) instance and the callback using AsyncCallback. When the response arrives the callback method Z gets called and the content will be analyzed. It can happen that the response has an unwanted content. At that moment callback Z will throw an exception. I want to catch this exception in my main application. I tried it in DoWork and RunWorkerCompleted but nothing can be caught from there. Error in RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs is always null.

• Need to access the Page object in Global.asax in the PreRequestHandlerExecute

  I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

• How to "chain" modal dialogs in YUI 2 ?

  I have a modal dialog box presented in Yahoo UI. The user selects a value from dialog "A", and then I want to present another modal dialog box to collect some more data in dialog "B". I have been using the YAHOO.widget.Dialog successfully. The problem seems to be that you can't initiate dialog window "B" from the handler function of dialog "A". So, how can you programmatically launch a second dialog window after the user hits the "OK" button on the first ? (I had tried to create an additional Listener for a field that is updated in dialog "A" to trigger dialog "B" but this doesn't work either.) Thanks..

• How to get users to read error messages?

  If you program for a nontechnical audience, you find yourself at a high risk that users will not read your carefully worded and enlightening error messages, but just click on the first button available with a shrug of frustration. So, I'm wondering what good practices you can recommend to help users actually read your error message, instead of simply waiving it aside. Ideas I can think of would fall along the lines of: Formatting of course help; maybe a simple, short message, with a "learn more" button that leads to the longer, more detailed error message Have all error messages link to some section of the user guide (somewhat difficult to achieve) Just don't issue error messages, simply refuse to perform the task (a somewhat "Apple" way of handling user input) Edit: the audience I have in mind is a rather broad user base that doesn't use the software too often and is not captive (i.e., not an in-house software or narrow community). A more generic form of this question was asked on slashdot, so you may want to check there for some of the answers.

  I have a bunch of datatemplates I use to display various sql-views in an ItemsControl. I don't know which datatemplate i'm going to use until run-time. (every view has different columns) Next to that, I made a generic dynamic datatemplate for all those views that don't need anything special. When I display the view I want to first look in all the available datatemplates if there is one that matches, else use the default dynamic datatemplate. My question is how can I 'search' a datatemplate by name in code? Usercontrol is also possible. Thanks, Elger

  Hi Friends, I want to do the following and am kind of stuck on these for a few days.... 1) I have used helloItemizedOverlay to add about 150 markers and it gets very very slow.....any idea what to do ? I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map..... 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer class that executes, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc.... • ASP.Net GridView GridViewDeleteEventArgs.Keys empty

  I have following Gridview: <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" CssClass="table" DataKeyNames="groupId" DataSource="<%# dsUserGroupsSelected %>" DataMember="Group" etc....> and after firing RowDeleting event handler: protected void GridView1_RowDeleting(object sender, GridViewDeleteEventArgs e) e.Keys is empty. Moreover, in runtime if I check dsUserGroupsSelected.Group.PrimaryKey it is poulated with: {System.Data.DataColumn[1]} [0]: {groupId} so it's really odd to me. Am I missing something? I have this kind of a workaround: int groupId = (int)GridView1.DataKeys[e.RowIndex].Value; which will work just fine, but I just can't get it why e.Keys (and e.Values) would be empty!? Any ideas?

I can find information about this error on the Internet but need specific info about how to presumably enable Integrated Pipeline mode (through web.config?) to allow HTTP headers to be manipulated. How do do I put the built-in web server into integrated pipeline mode? Note: Not using full-fledged IIS

• Converting C# void* to byte[]

  In C#, I need to write T[] to a stream, ideally without any additional buffers. I have a dynamic code that converts T[] (where T is a no-objects struct) to a void* and fixes it in memory, and that works great. When the stream was a file, I could use native Windows API to pass the void * directly, but now I need to write to a generic Stream object that takes byte[]. Can anyone suggest a hack way to create a dummy array object which does not actually have any heap allocations, but rather points to an already existing (and fixed) heap location. • STAThread and Process output capture in c#

  Hi: This is a strange problem I encountered. I have an window application written in c# to do testing. It has a MDI parent form that is hosting a few children forms. One of the forms launch test cripts by creating processes and capture the scripts output to a text box. Another form open serial port and monitoring the status of the device I am working on(like a shell). If I ran both of them together, the output of the script seems only appear in the text box after the test is done. However, If I don't open the serial port form, the output of the script is captured in real time. Does anyone knows what's causing the problem? I notice the onDataReceived even handler for serial port form has a [STAThread] header to it. Will this cause the serial port thread having higher priority than other processes? Thanks in advance.

• htaccess redirect from root to subfolder and then mask the url?

  Hello all, Two things: Firstly - I have version 2 of a website located in a folder named v2, and I want to redirect any traffic that is NOT a child of the v2 folder, to www.example.com/v2 The old site located in the root was created in iWeb and has a LOT of subfolders and sub-subfolders. So: www.example.com/v2 = New site www.example.com/Page.html www.example.com/category/Page.html ww.example.com/category/subcategory/Page.html = All generic examples of what I need to redirect. Secondly, and I don't know if this is possible, I want to hide /v2/ in the URL, so that visitors will just see www.example.com/page even though they are actually on www.example.com/v2/page Links are hardcoded to the v2 folder, like so <a href="v2/contact.html" Any help is MOST appreciated. I've spent hours trying to figure this out, but I'm only just learning about htaccess and regular expressions, and am totally confused. Thanks so much!

• Android SDK - Animation prevents further events on View like OnClick()

  I have an ImageView which is animated via startAnimation() to slide it into the screen. It is visible and enabled in the XML. When I add a Handler for a delay or an onClick event, nothing happens. When I remove the startAnimation() everything works fine. Except the animation of course. Heres my code: balloon.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View view) { view.setVisibility(View.GONE); } }); Animation dropDown = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(context, R.anim.balloon_slide_down); dropDown.setStartOffset(1500); balloon.startAnimation(dropDown); Any ideas why that is? • TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 missing repository browser in Branch/Tag "To URL" dialog?

  It seems that in TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 (on Windows), when you click the "To URL..." button in the Branch/Tag dialog, it now pops up a generic "browse for folders" dialog. It used to pop up a Repository Browser. Displaying a regular folder browser isn't much use, since you can't navigate to any of the tags/branches via the file system. Does anyone know if this is a regression or a deliberate change? Any possible workarounds (other than reverting to 1.6.7, which works fine)? Notes: I am running a repository on the local file system, which may yield different results to one going across a network. I'm definitely using an FSFS repository, so changes to BDB access via file:/// shouldn't apply. The only reference I could find to this problem is here: http://groups.google.com/group/tortoisesvn/browse_thread/thread/f3406d1bad89f1d9.
