  • ADSIEdit freezes gettings properties of a group with hundred of thousands members

    Doing performance testing on an AD-LDS (Server 2008 R2 64 bits), we created a milion user in a single OU. We also created a single group object and made those milion users member of that group. When we try to list the milion of users ADSIEdit times out with an error message saying it cannot display that many users. Fine. But if we open the properties for the group, ADSIEdit freezes, eating up all available memory and CPU trashing (nearly 60M page faults in under an hour). AD-LDS (running on another computer) is barely hitting the 1% CPU mark, servicing other ldap requests as if nothing were. We can throw more memory at the problem, but more users will have to be managed one day and we will be back at square one. Is there a way to set a limit in ADSIEdit so that it will not hang the computer when retreving a very large multi-value object ?

  • AWS EC2 security group source

    I'm currently trying to configure a security group and allow MS SQL connections from my other instance. I want to be able to specify the security group's name as the source. But the connection is not going through. The instance's firewall has a rule to allow connections on the port. In fact, if I specify the IP of the machine as the source, it works. Just not the security group name. There are two other rules for the same port and they're for specific IPs only. What am I doing wrong?

  • Repeat row headers after Page Break

    The lead developer of the FO engine send me by chance an email about a REALLY nice feature I did not know about. Did you ever encounter a long table with merged cells, where the merged cell went on to the next page? While column headers are by default repeated on the next page, row headers are not. Tables with group-left column and pivot tables are prime examples where this problem occurs. I have seen reports where merged cells could go over multiple pages and you would need to back to find the row header on previous pages. The BI Publisher RTF templates have a special tag you can added to a merged cell to repeat the contents after each page break. You just need to add the following (wordy) tag to the next merged table cell: true Example: 2nd page of report before adding the tag 2nd page of report after adding the tag. My Question:- I don't want that the client and another person will get directly contact after the conversation just because they can get the skype ID of each other in Group chat whether i will connect with them in my skype group conversation. Now What i need:- I need a way by which i can hide the skype IDs of both persons(My Client and Another person) during the conversation and they will always be connect with me.     So I am trying to develop an activity feed for my site. Basically If I UNION a bunch of activities into a feed I would end up with something like the following. Chris is now friends with Mark Chris is now friends with Dave What I want though is a neater way of grouping these similar posts so the feed doesn't give information overload... E.g.   • Excel 2010: if( , , "") not treated the same as blank for pivot table group by date

    I'm trying to group by date in an Excel 2010 pivot table. The column with dates (i.e., the one want to group by), should be the latest date of 2 other columns if neither is null, or blank. i.e., with a formula like: =IF(AND(A4 <> "", B4 <> ""), MAX(A4,B4), "") Normally, this ""in the IF() formula acts the same as an empty cell. In this case, it is preventing me from grouping by date in the Pivot Table. If I filter the date column by (Blanks), then clear the contents of all those cells, then the pivot table does group by date ok. i.e., "" is not being treated the same as an empty cell.

Each instrument has its own formula of calculation how depth the water when the operator collect the reading I stored the formula for each instrument in database/MySql. Example formula: [55-57] this is the simple minus operation, where the number is actually represent the id of a row. How do I represent those number with id of a row and later convert it to javascript readable code. I simply want to do keyup event where everytime user key in something into text field then the other part of HTML would reflect changes based on formula that I fetched from database FYI, I'm using BackboneJS together with RequireJS

  • Is it a bad practice to store large files (10 MB) in a database?

    I am currently creating a web application that allows users to store and share files, 1 MB - 10 MB in size. It seems to me that storing the files in a database will significantly slow down database access. Is this a valid concern? Is it better to store the files in the file system and save the file name and path in the database? Are there any best practices related to storing files when working with a database? I am working in PHP and MySQL for this project, but is the issue the same for most environments (Ruby on Rails, PHP, .NET) and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).

  • LAMP Stack Location

    I have installed the LAMP stack on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS using the tasksel command. I checked - it works. But I cant find the location of the installaton, I worked with WAMP - there you have a separate folder for Apache, for PHP and for mysql. Now I cant even find where to put the documents I create. Which folder is used to contain my web projects? How to start MySQL console and where to look for its installation directory? Which directories are PHP and Apache installed in? how to erase LAMP stack? I found out that some of the parts of the stack are installed in the root/var and root/etc directories: How can I install the whole LAMP stack in /home?

  • Great Presentation to the Israel Dot Net Developers User Group (IDNDUG)

    I continue to be impressed with the quality of .NET Developers in Israel.. we had a full house last night for a 2+ hour presentation on building business applications with Silverlight and RIA Services.   The audience was very engaged and had lots of good, relevant questions which created a really good conversation.    Check out the slides and demo. I started off by demoing the Right-to-Left text support for Hebrew that is baked in as part of Silverlight 4.   ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors?   • Moving from local machine to group web development environment

    I'm a freelancer who currently creates websites locally using something like MAMP to test websites locally before pushing them live with FTP. I'm looking at taking on my first employee, and I would need to be able to work on websites with them simultaneously. Can anyone explain or provide links to some good documentation on team workflow, or some key phrases I should be googling to get started on my set up? Unlike a lot of the stackoverflow community I've never worked in a dev team, large or small as I'm self taught so just need to know where to start. At present I'm thinking I need an extra computer to use as a server, then use Git or some such to version control files on that computer, as well as installing apache on it so it can be viewed by any computers in my current home network. Is this heading down the right track?
