  • Adding items to dictionary if condition is true, else dont - python

    - by CodeTalk
I'm trying to take an existing process: if self.path_object is not None: dictpath = {} for path in self.path_object: self.params = path.pathval.split("?")[0] self.params = path.pathval.split("&", 2) if path.pathval.contains(self.params): out = list(map(lambda v: v.split("=")[0] +"=" + str(self.fuzz_vectors), self.params)) else: pass dictpath[path] = out print dictpath I added the sub-if/else block in, but it is failing, stating: AttributeError: 'unicode' object has no attribute 'contains' on the if block . How can I fix it? I'm simply trying to do: if the path.pathval has either ? or & in it: add to dictionary else: pass #forget about it. Thanks!

  • Python: Pickling highly-recursive objects without using `setrecursionlimit`

    - by cool-RR
I've been getting RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded when trying to pickle a highly-recursive tree object. Much like this asker here. He solved his problem by setting the recursion limit higher with sys.setrecursionlimit. But I don't want to do that: I think that's more of a workaround than a solution. Because I want to be able to pickle my trees even if they have 10,000 nodes in them. (It currently fails at around 200.) (Also, every platform's true recursion limit is different, and I would really like to avoid opening this can of worms.) Is there any way to solve this at the fundamental level? If only the pickle module would pickle using a loop instead of recursion, I wouldn't have had this problem. Maybe someone has an idea how I can cause something like this to happen, without rewriting the pickle module? Any other idea how I can solve this problem will be appreciated.

  • Missing System.Core.dll and others on Visual Studio 2010 Project targeting 3.5 Framework

    - by Mark Struzinski
I just got Visual Studio 2010 installed and running on my development machine (alongside VS 2008). The first thing I did was make a copy of an existing project and convert it up to the VS 2010 project. I told the conversion wizard to leave the project targeting the 3.5 framework. The project compiles and runs just fine in VS 2008. When I go to build it, several of my references are marked as missing (System.Core, System.Xml.Linq, System.Data.DataSetExtensions). When I go to the Add Reference dialog, they are not present. Yet if I view the GAC at C:\Windows\Assembly, I can see the entries there. I have tried converting the projects to 4.0, then back down to 3.5, and also unloading/reloading the projects. Nothing works. Has anyone else ran across this problem?

  • Python Beautiful Soup .content Property

    - by Robert Birch
What does BeautifulSoup's .content do? I am working through crummy.com's tutorial and I don't really understand what .content does. I have looked at the forums and I have not seen any answers. Looking at the code below.... from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup import re doc = ['<html><head><title>Page title</title></head>', '<body><p id="firstpara" align="center">This is paragraph <b>one</b>.', '<p id="secondpara" align="blah">This is paragraph <b>two</b>.', '</html>'] soup = BeautifulSoup(''.join(doc)) print soup.contents[0].contents[0].contents[0].contents[0].name I would expect the last line of the code to print out 'body' instead of... File "pe_ratio.py", line 29, in <module> print soup.contents[0].contents[0].contents[0].contents[0].name File "C:\Python27\lib\BeautifulSoup.py", line 473, in __getattr__ raise AttributeError, "'%s' object has no attribute '%s'" % (self.__class__.__name__, attr) AttributeError: 'NavigableString' object has no attribute 'name' Is .content only concerned with html, head and title? If, so why is that? Thanks for the help in advance.

  • new to lists on python

    - by user1762229
This is my current code: while True: try: mylist = [0] * 7 for x in range(7): sales = float(input("Sales for day:")) mylist[x] = sales if sales < 0: print ("Sorry, invalid. Try again.") except: print ("Sorry, invalid. Try again.") else: break print (mylist) best = max(sales) worst = min(sales) print ("Your best day had", best, "in sales.") print ("Your worst day had", worst, "in sales.") When I run it I get this: Sales for day:-5 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-6 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-7 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-8 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-9 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-2 Sorry, invalid. Try again. Sales for day:-5 Sorry, invalid. Try again. [-5.0, -6.0, -7.0, -8.0, -9.0, -2.0, -5.0] Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:/Users/Si Hong/Desktop/HuangSiHong_assign9_part.py", line 45, in <module> best = max(sales) TypeError: 'float' object is not iterable I am not quite sure how to code it so that, the lists do NOT take in negative values, because I only want values 0 or greater. I am not sure how to solve the TypeError issue so that the min and max values will print as in my code My last issue is, if I want to find the average value of the seven inputs that an user puts in, how should I go about this in pulling the values out of the lists Thank you so much

It works but I really can't understand how can I speed it up. I saw it use 1 core out of my quad core CPU so I thought Multi-threading might work even though I don't know how. Please help me. • How to use Visual Studio and IIS7 together?

    - by Pure.Krome
Hi folks, i'm trying to use Visual Studio 2010 (but this also happens with VS2008) as my web server for all locahost development. When i go into the properties for my web application (sigh, it's a legacy web FORMS app) and check the Web tab .. then check the Use Local IIS Web Server option ... it only allows me to create a virtual directory against a website. Why?! this is not what I want :( I wanted to have my own IIS7 website (no virtual directory) and debug against that. Can anyone help me? As a side note, i tried to use the third option Use Custom Web Server .. which ends up pointing to my localhost iis7 server. Now, this works ... but when i wish to Start Debugging .. it errors :( (it's not sure how to attach to that process or something?) So - can anyone out there please help?

  • Python: Importing a variable inside of a infinite loop

    - by Jack
I have two modules, a host and a scanner. Both loop indefinitely to communicate with the serial ports. I want to import the variable "bestchannel" from scanner into host but by importing it, the while loop inside scanner runs first and loops forever. I want each module to run separately but be able to send each other data in real time. Is this possible? (outside of scanning ram) Example Code: http://pastebin.com/pxUBaima I want minchannel from scanner to be accessible to host.

  • Invoking a superclass's class methods in Python

    - by LeafStorm
I am working on a Flask extension that adds CouchDB support to Flask. To make it easier, I have subclassed couchdb.mapping.Document so the store and load methods can use the current thread-local database. Right now, my code looks like this: class Document(mapping.Document): # rest of the methods omitted for brevity @classmethod def load(cls, id, db=None): return mapping.Document.load(cls, db or g.couch, id) I left out some for brevity, but that's the important part. However, due to the way classmethod works, when I try to call this method, I receive the error message File "flaskext/couchdb.py", line 187, in load return mapping.Document.load(cls, db or g.couch, id) TypeError: load() takes exactly 3 arguments (4 given) I tested replacing the call with mapping.Document.load.im_func(cls, db or g.couch, id), and it works, but I'm not particularly happy about accessing the internal im_ attributes (even though they are documented). Does anyone have a more elegant way to handle this?

  • Unicode filename to python subprocess.call()

    - by otrov
I'm trying to run subprocess.call() with unicode filename, and here is simplified problem: n = u'c:\\windows\\notepad.exe ' f = u'c:\\temp\\nèw.txt' subprocess.call(n + f) which raises famous error: UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xe8' Encoding to utf-8 produces wrong filename, and mbcs passes filename as new.txt without accent I just can't read any more on this confusing subject and spin in circle. I found here lot of answers for many different problems in past so I thought to join and ask for help myself Thanks

  • Parsing line with delimiter in Python

    - by neversaint
I have lines of data which I want to parse. The data looks like this: a score=216 expect=1.05e-06 a score=180 expect=0.0394 What I want to do is to have a subroutine that parse them and return 2 values (score and expect) for each line. However this function of mine doesn't seem to work: def scoreEvalFromMaf(mafLines): for word in mafLines[0]: if word.startswith("score="): theScore = word.split('=')[1] theEval = word.split('=')[2] return [theScore, theEval] raise Exception("encountered an alignment without a score") Please advice what's the right way to do it?

Also I must say I like http://www.digg.com" sanitize(mystring) # it becomes "Ah I like this site: Stack Overflow. Also I must say I like Digg - The Latest News Headlines, Videos and Images" For replacing url to the title, I have written this snipplet: #get_title: string -> string def get_title(url): """Returns the title of the input URL""" output = BeautifulSoup.BeautifulSoup(urllib.urlopen(url)) return output.title.string
