  • Should i use a C function or Obj-C Method?

    I'm about to create a function which adds to NSDateComponents together is there any advantage to putting this in a C style function or should it go in a Obj-C method? Is there ever a reason to use one rather then the other or should I always stick to Obj-C? BTW: Not that it makes any difference I'm sure but this is for an app on the iPhone Many thanks

    On iPhone, how do I show a login screen to get username and password before giving access to iPhone app? Also, does the iPhone store a cookie to the secure website like a web browser? I was thinking of giving users to my website a long API key to store in the settings of their iPhone instead of asking them to login with a username/password (seems to be the Slicehost iPhone app approach.) Which is the best way to get a user to login securely? I have full control over the design of the iPhone app and website so have a lot of flexibility.

  • Hide uiview, but not it's subview?

    Hi! I have an app where i add ViewB as a subview to ViewA... But the background of ViewB is clearColor, which means that I can see ViewA through ViewB! If I set viewA to be hidden, ViewB goes away too! I am making a "flip-transition" between the views, so I can't just remove ViewA and then add ViewB :-/ -Anybody got an idea about what I can do?     Its common for the dataSource and delegate to be the same object, its also common for this object to be the viewController. In all the info/tutorials that I have seen online delegates are always setup as above. If I wanted to create my own class instead can anyone give me any pointers as to how I might do that. Where does that object get instantiated, how do you connect the dataSource and delegate items etc. I am using UITableView to test this.

    I'm have difficulty adding a subview UIView from within the viewDidLoad method of a UITableViewController This works: [self.view addSubview:self.progView]; But you can see the table cell lines bleed through the UIView progView. I've tried this approach: [self.view.superview insertSubview:self.progView aboveSubview:self.view]; Which is an attempt to add the progView UIView to the superview, above the current view. When I try this I get this the UIView never appears.

  • Cocoa: NSUserNotification appears behind NSPopover

    I have no idea where to even start trying to fix this but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I have a status item application that shows a popover when clicked, some user interactions produce an NSUserNotification to warn/inform about changes or errors. But when the notification appears it is shown behind the popover, so if they overlay the user can't read what it says. Is there a way to force the notification to appear in front of the popover? Like order the notification to the front. Thanks for the help.
