I need a log function in my javascript but it needs to be base 10, I can't see any listing for this so I'm assuming it's not possible... any math wizards out there know of an approach for this? Or maybe I'm missing something and there is a way?
A simple example using a built-in javascript object:
navigator.my_new_property = "some value"; //can we detect that this new property was added?
I don't want to constantly poll the object to check for new properties.
Is there some type of higher level setter for objects instead of explicitly stating the property to monitor?
Again, I don't want to detect if the property value changed, but rather when a new property is added.
Ideas?
thanks
if I put a div in the head and display:none, than use javascript to display it, will this work?
Edit:
I have stuff loaded in ajax. And as my ajax changes the "main" portion of the site, I want to change the meta-tags as well.

In Javascript, when is a new scope created? The 2 situations I know of are:
with a new function
in a "with" statement
as a note, any new block (in if-then-else, loops, or just beginning a block for no other reason) won't create a new scope.
Is there a third situation where a new scope is created besides the two situations above? Thanks.
When we open plain swf in browser, we are able to control the swf file by right clicking, the available control are: zoom in, zoom out, quality, rewind (previous frame), forward (next frame), and print. Is it possible to trigger those control using javascript especially jquery?

Let's say you have a Javascript function that calls a web service method. So that webservice completes and calls a callback function, which has the result.
How do I get that result back into the original function that called the web service method? Essentially, I'm trying to "synchronize" an asynchronous call.
i am trying to find a way using javascript or jquery to write a function which remove all the html tags from a page and just give me the plain text of this page.
How this can be done? any ideas?
I'd like to use Javascript to replace all instances of \u009 in a string
This doesn't seem to be working: .replace(/\u0009/g,'');
Do I need to escape something?
I can't believe it, but this is really happening. I ran out of available quote symbols using jquery and javascript native functions together. Can somebody help? Maybe there is yet another symbol?
var t=setTimeout('$("#popupChange").html('<img src="http://servername/pdf/picture/genericThrobber.gif" />');',2000);

I need to get the pageYOffset of the bottom of the viewable area, whether the user is zoomed in on the webpage or not, on Mobile Safari ( iPhone ). However pageYOffset returns the offset from the upper left corner of the window.
Spec:
"pageYOffset properties returns the pixels the current document has been scrolled from the upper left corner of the window"
How do you get the page y offset from the bottom of the viewable area, (zoomed in or not) on the iPhone via Javascript?
Hi,
I'm a .NET programmer who've just started to learn more about client side scripting, and I was wondering sometimes you use $get('value') and $find('value') and I've discovered that these are just shortcuts for document.getElementById('value') and Sys.Application.findComponent('value'), respectively.
However, I still don't understand: what is the difference between these two functions in JavaScript? What exactly are they looking up/retrieving when invoked?
Thanks in advance.

In Javascript, if an object has lots of properties that are functions:
var obj = { foo: function() { ... },
bar: function() { ... },
...
}
then how can you get an array of names of those functions? That is, an array
["foo", "bar", ... ]
thanks.
I have recorded a macro in Excel, but I want to run this code in Google spreadsheets. I do not know how to program in either code. How do I convert them? I tried an online VB to Javascript converter, but this does not work with VBA.
I am making websites I refer to from my site load up in a frame (similar to google images). But I also want to give users the ability to break out of that frame. Like with google image's "Remove Frame" link at the bottom right corner of their frame. How can I do this possiblyusing Javascript?
