  • Recover from running "route -f"

    I was trying to capture localhost traffic with Ethereal, which doesn't work without re-routing localhost traffic to your router gateway. I didn't get the route command quite right, and messed up my routing table. I typed route -f to clear the routing table and rebooted, but when I finished rebooting, the routing table wasn't restored to its original state. I didn't use the -p parameter, so none of my changes should have persisted after a reboot. What can I do to restore the routing table to its default routes?

  • Change ip route metric

    I'm constantly switching between eth0 and wlan0 interface on my archlinux because I often change OpenWrt fw images on my second router (which isn't connected anywhere). So I have problem with my routes when I'm connected to my wlan and want to connect with Ethernet to my router. Both routers are on 192.168.1.1/24 and after connecting to my Ethernet profile eth0 route becomes default one (which is ok for the time), because of smaller metric I guess. So I'm interested, how can I change routes metric so my applications can be connected to the internet (through out wlan)? Maybe there is solution not to use Default Gateway on Ethernet profile, however I still want to know how to change metric. Or default route if there are more then one.

Any idea?

  • Google Calendar as Default Handler of iCal/ICS files

    I would like for Google Calendar to open ICS files when I open them. In a way analogous to how Gmail can be set to be the default handler for mailto: links. More specifically, I would like for Google Calendar to import them to my primary calendar, which can manually be achieved by, when on Google Calendar, clicking the small arrow next to Other Calendars, then choosing Import Calendar, picking the appropriate file and choosing Import. I don't know if this is possible, but I'm hoping somebody will have a great idea.

  • Making python 3.3 default python 3 interpreter instead of 3.2

    So, to keep it simple. Ubuntu 12.10 has python 3.2 pre installed and it is linked to "python3". I downloaded python 3.3 and it's command is "python3.3". However, I downloaded pySide for python3 from synaptic. Using "from PySide.QtCore import *" fails on python3.3. BUT, when I ran just "python3" (aka 3.2) everything works fine. Synaptic just installed lib for python3.2 which is default for python3 in ubuntu. How can I force synaptic to install modules for python3.3? Thanks

  • Set default app for opening an extension [closed]

    I am using Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon. I have a problem setting an application to open a file with some extension when the application is actually only extracted, not really installed using apt-ger or .deb file. For example - Blender. You can download a .tar.gz from official site which you then extract and you can just run the app. However, it isn't listed in the default apps list (Right Clickon file - Open with other application - Show all installed apps). So now I have to always open the application first and open the file from there. How can I solve this?

But when i try to connect B to C or C to B i get always ssh: connect to host <HOST> port 22: No route to host What can be the reason for this error?

I tried to install java this way, and on the update-alternatives part of the command returned me: /etc/alternatives/[java,javac,javaws] is dangling, it will be updated with best choice I just confirmed that I can use java, as 'java -jar file.jar' does work. Just figured that I'd mention it, don't know why I didn't before, but when I right click on a .jar file, java 7 run-time isn't even listed there, it seems that the file-manager isn't recognizing it as a program, but it is there, and it does work...

But I need to find this line: 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.49.73.1 10.49.73.24 10 So I tried to modify the findstr parameter like this: findstr "\<0.0.0.0\>.\<0.0.0.0\>" in the expectation that '.' will match for the tab between the columns. But it doesn't. It will still set DefaultGateway to 10.8.0.1 I couldn't find a clue in MS documentation either. Maybe someone knows the right expression? Thanks a lot.

If I run ip -6 route in a few seconds after expiration, expiration time of the host route will be a negative number: fc00::1875:8606:d8c1:8a9d via fd00::1 dev sit-argo metric 1024 expires -1sec And output of ip route get fc00::1875:8606:d8c1:8a9d shows that it is routed to my default IPv6 gateway (which fails to route it correctly of course, since the address is not globally routable). After some time, the host route disappears without a trace. This problem won't happen if I do either one of the following things: Set MTU of tunnel on my local box to be the same as the server (1472). The route won't have expiration time in both ip -6 route and ip route get in this case. Instead of adding a host route, add a route with network mask (even /127 works). In this case ip -6 route shows the route without expiration time, ip route get shows expiration time but it will be correctly refreshed after expiration. Although this problem can be easily resolved, I am curious to know why this happens. Is there error in my configuration, or is this a kernel bug?

My problem with an example: classes/ controller/ pages.php pages/ imprint.php I want to change my Route so, that if i call domain.tld/pages, the pages.php should called with action_index(). But if i call domain.tld/pages/imprint, pages/imprint.php should called with action_index() (and this should work too: pages/imprint/demo - action_demo() in pages/imprint.php) Tried this with bootstrap and http://kohanaframework.org/guide/api/Route this examples, but cant get it work.     I am using glusterfs, and am using fstab in this way: <IPADDRESS>:/<VOLUMENAME> /some/mount/point glusterfs defaults,_netdev 0 0 but the logs for the mount continue to say the following. [<TIMESTAMP>] E [socket.c:2161:socket_connect_finish] 0-<VOLUMENAME>-client-1: connection to <IPADDRESS>:24007 failed (No route to host) I know this is not true, since when the system is up and running, I can easily issue a mount and the volume gets mounted. (I've done this by using rc.local) after reading more I have seen that using _netdev is preferred, and that if the host cannot be reached netfs will remount the volume after the network comes up, but that is not happening. (netfs is running). Is there a way to make the mount happen at a different time without using a script? (I would prefer to use fstab to manage the mounting even though I can use a script.)

I want the nightly backup file (targz) that copies to the windows machine to use a different nic so that the main nic is not burdenend with moving the large file. Each server has 2 Nics in it. the network is 10.173.10.0 mask 255.255.255.192 Centos Linux Box: Eth0 is configured with 10.173.10.80 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is configured with 10.173.10.71 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Windows Box Eth 0 is 10.173.10.72 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is 10.173.10.70 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 I can ping each machine from each machine. On the linux machine I use the command route add -host 10.173.10.70 dev eth1 but then when i ping 10.173.10.70 it is unreachable..... WHY?

  • connecting to a network using route command

    I have a computer with an external IP(192.168.223.220) and also an internal address (10.1.1.20) in order to connect to some servers that don't have external addresses only 10.1.1.xx . in order to connect to these servers from other machines I used the following command "route ADD 10.1.1.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.223.220" and than I was able to connect to the servers using there 10.1.1.xx address. The problem is that the hard disk of main server(192.168.223.220) died and was replaced and after the that I am not able to connect to the servers as before, the route command succeeds and I can ping 10.1.1.20 but not the other servers.     Hi All, I have a situation where I have and ISA 2006 server (on Win2k3) that has an internal and an externaly facing NIC's. All works fine but I need to add a couple of routes for the following reason: Our monitoring software is on a different network. Our Terminal server is on a different network. Currently, access to the internet, through this proxy server, from the terminal server fails. Also, monitoring of the ISA server via a remote monitor or the installed agent talking to the remote monitor (BMC) also fails. The default enterprise rule on ISA blocks the traffic as I beleive it doesn't trust / know about those networks. Here is my routing table: I need to add a couple of address, but this one being the main one: 192.168.245.137 / mask 255.255.255.192 / gateway 192.168.245.129 But I can't get it to work. Routing is not my strong point but at the moment have no one else available to help. Can you offer any assistance? Please ask if you need more info

    Here's the scoop: I have a crappy VisionQuest TV that I am currently using as a monitor on my computer running XBMCbuntu. It defaults to 1280x768 which the TV will not display correctly. It appears to be the correct size, but the screen is panned WAY to the left. The TV works fine on 1024x768 with the screen sitting in the right spot. Problem is, I have to change the resolution to 1024x768 every time I boot up. Any ideas?

  • How do I delete or modify Default User's default printer?

    I have some computers that I set up a couple years ago by creating a user account, setting it up the way I wanted, and copying that user's directory over Default User's directory. Pretty simple stuff. One of the things that I did was to add a printer and set it as the default. Straightforward, or so I thought. Things have changed, and that printer has been removed and replaced with a different printer. I deleted the old printer's object and added the new one. Now every time a new user logs in, their profile gets copied from Default User, and they get the old printer as their default. This re-adds the old printer object to the system. Now every user can see the old printer's object again. I want to permanently delete Default User's default printer. How?

  • Using Default Document with Forms Authentication

    I have a site hosted on IIS7 with a default document specified as default.aspx. This works fine but my app uses Forms Authentication and I want to disable Anonymous Authentication completely. When I do disable anonymous authentication for everything except the login page, everything works fine but the default document setting stops working. With Anonymous authentication switched on if I visit http://mysite I get passed to http://mysite/default.aspx (which then redirects to the login page if the user hasn't already logged in) If I disable anonymous authentication (leaving only forms based auth enabled) and I visit http://mysite I get a permission denied page from IIS. Yet, if I visit http://mysite/default.aspx directly then the site works fine. I just want to disable anonymous authentication and have http://mysite go to http://mysite/default.aspx. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Change the Default Font Size in Word

    Are you frustrated by always having to change the font size before you create a document it Word?  Here’s how you can end that frustration and set your favorite default font size for once and for all! Microsoft changed the default font font to 11 point Calibri in Word 2007 after years of 12 point Times New Roman being the default.  Although it can be easily overlooked, there are ways in Word to change the default settings to anything you want.  Whether you want to change your default to 12 point Calibri or to 48 point Comic Sans…here’s how to change your default font settings in Word 2007 and 2010. Changing Default Fonts in Word To change the default font settings, click the small box with an arrow in the right left corner of the Font section of the Home tab in the Ribbon.   In the Font dialog box, choose the default font settings you want.  Notice in the Font box it says “+Body”; this means that the font will be chosen by the document style you choose, and you are only selecting the default font style and size.  So, if your style uses Calibri, then your font will be Calibri at the size and style you chose.  If you’d prefer to choose a specific font to be the default, just select one from the drop-down box and this selection will override the font selection in your document style. Here we left all the default settings, except we selected 12 point font in the Latin text box (this is your standard body text; users of Asian languages such as Chinese may see a box for Asian languages).  When you’ve made your selections, click the “Set as Default” button in the bottom left corner of the dialog. You will be asked to confirm that you want these settings to be made default.  In Word 2010, you will be given the option to set these settings for this document only or for all documents.  Click the bullet beside “All documents based on the Normal.dotm template?”, and then click Ok. In Word 2007, simply click Ok to save these settings as default. Now, whenever you open Word or create a new document, your default font settings should be set exactly to what you want.  And simply repeat these steps to change your default font settings again if you want. Editing your default template file Another way to change your default font settings is to edit your Normal.dotm file.  This file is what Word uses to create new documents; it basically copies the formatting in this document each time you make a new document. To edit your Normal.dotm file, enter the following in the address bar in Explorer or in the Run prompt: %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates This will open your Office Templates folder.  Right-click on the Normal.dotm file, and click Open to edit it.  Note: Do not double-click on the file, as this will only create a new document based on Normal.dotm and any edits you make will not be saved in this file.   Now, change any font settings as you normally would.  Remember: anything you change or enter in this document will appear in any new document you create using Word. If you want to revert to your default settings, simply delete your Normal.dotm file.  Word will recreate it with the standard default settings the next time you open Word. Please Note: Changing your default font size will not change the font size in existing documents, so these will still show the settings you used when these documents were created.  Also, some addins can affect your Normal.dotm template.  If Word does not seem to remember your font settings, try disabling Word addins to see if this helps. Conclusion Sometimes it’s the small things that can be the most frustrating.  Getting your default font settings the way you want is a great way to take away a frustration and make you more productive.   • Spreadsheet functions to query route planner for travel time/distance

    I would like to achieve something whereby I have a spreadsheet such that the columns are: Column A - place name Column B - place name Column C - distance by road between places in columns A and B Column D - travel time by road between places in columns A and B I thought it might be possible using Google Docs' spreadsheet and its 'Google' functions, but I've not found any that might do the trick. In the end I could knock up an app to do it using the Google Maps API but would rather avoid it if I can.
