    Hi, Usually I am a web developer so this is probably a very novice question. I recently made an app in VB2008, but I developed it in a huge reso (1920x1200). The person that will be using it still uses 800x600 reso. Is there any simple way I can resize the entire interface to fit any resolution?     I'm moving my application from 3.x to 4.x as I prepare for the app store and found that I need to have 2 copies of all my custom pngs - my question is how can I determine what img to show and when. Example - how do I know to show the Find.png vs the [email protected] Is it "safe" or "correct" to look for 4.x specific apis or does the iphone have a way to determine what platform you are on at runtime?     I am going to write a mapper and reducer for the kmeans algorithm, I think the best course of action to do is putting the distance calculator in mapper and sending to reducer with the cluster id as key and coordinates of row as value. In reducer, updating the centroids would be performed. I am writing this by python. As you know, I have to use Hadoop streaming to transfer data between STDIN and STOUT. according to my knowledge, when we print (key + "\t"+value), it will be sent to reducer. Reducer will receive data and it calculates the new centroids but when we print new centroids, I think it does not send them to mapper to calculate new clusters and it just send it to STDOUT and as you know, kmeans is a iterative program. So, my questions is whether Hadoop streaming suffers of doing iterative programs and we should employ MRJOB for iterative programs?

    I'm writing a Javascript function that would manipulate an array written on-the-fly and sent as a parameter. The function is written as follows: function returnJourney(animation,clean){ var properties = {}; // loads of other inane stuff for(i in animation[0]) properties[animation[0][i]] = animation[0].i; // heaps more inane stuff } The animation in question is a set of parameters for a jQuery animation. Typically it takes the format of ({key:value,key:value},speedAsInteger,modifierAsString). So to kick off initial debugging I call it with: returnJouney(({'foo':'bar'},3000),1); And straight off the bat things are way off. As far as I see it this would have returnJourney acknowledge clean === 1, and animation being an array with an object as its first child and the number 3000 as its second. Firebug tells me animation evaluates as the number 3000. What am I doing wrong?

  • Programming powering off and powering on in one single OnClick function on android

    I would like to write an activity that after clicking on a button turns off the screen and then turns it back on after 2 secs. I tried using the following code in order to power off the screen: WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = getWindow().getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = 0/(float)255; getWindow().setAttributes(lp); But it would only take effect when then onClick function returns. I tried running it into a handler but with no success. I need to find a way to force the setting to get applied before the function returns so that I can call the power on function 2 secs later on the same onClick call. I also found it very hard to wakeup the device afterwards. While this code works if I power off the screen using the physical button it doesn't seem to work when the phone is powered off using the technique described previously.   • ActionScript 2: Event doesn't fire?

    So I have a soundHandler class that's supposed to play sounds and then point back to a function on the timeline when the sound has completed playing. But somehow, only one of the sounds plays when I try it out. EDIT: After that sound plays, nothing happens, even though I have EventHandlers set up that are supposed to do something.   • Activate WPF command based on TextBox value

    This is MVVM application. I have form and related view model class. There is TextBox, Button and ListBox on form. Button is bound to DelegateCommand that has CanExecute function. Idea is that user enters some data in text box, presses button and data is appended to list box. I would like to enable command (and button) when user enters correct data in TextBox. Things look like this now: CanExecute() contains code that checks if data in property bound to text box is correct. Text box is bound to property in view model UpdateSourceTrigger is set to PropertyChanged and property in view model is updated after each key user presses. Problem is that CanExecute() does not fire when user enters data in text box. It doesn't fire even when text box lose focus. How could I make this work?

  • Symfony 2 - Updating a table based on newly inserted record in another table

    I'm trying to create a small forum application using Symfony 2 and Doctrine 2. My ForumTopic entity has a last_post field (oneToOne mapping). Now when I persist my new post with $em->persist($post); I want to update my ForumTopic entity so its last_post field would reference this new post. I have just realised that it cannot be done with a Doctrine postPersist Listener, so I decided to use a small hack, and tried: $em->persist($post); $em->flush(); $topic->setLastPost($post); $em->persist($post); $em->flush(); but it doesn't seem to update my topics table. I also took a look at http://docs.doctrine-project.org/projects/doctrine-orm/en/2.1/reference/working-with-associations.html#transitive-persistence-cascade-operations hoping it will solve the problem by adding cascade: [ 'persist' ] to my Topic.orm.yml file, but it didn't help, either. Could anyone point me to a solution or an example class?     Hi, I am using MS-Access 2003. I have three tables containing values of w,Q and L. In the Q table I have three fields: country_name, ISIC_code, and Q value. In the L table, there are three fields, country_name, ISIC_code, and L value. And in the w table there are two fields; country_name and w value. Country_names, and ISIC_code might be different for each table. What I want to do is create a new table with the values b(j)=w(i)L(ij)/Q(ij), where i is the country and j is the ISIC_code. So first I will check if the country name and ISIC_code are the same in L and Q tables. If they are equal I will calculate L/Q and then multiply this with w value of the same country if it exists. I appreciate any help.

  • problem with a very simple tile based game

    Hello, I am trying to create a pacman-like game. I have an array that looks like this: array: 1111111111111 1000000000001 1111110111111 1000000000001 1111111111111 1 = Wall, 0 = Empty space I use this array to draw tiles that are 16x16 in size. The Game character is 32x32. Initially I represented the character's position in array indexes, [1,1] etc. I would update his position if array[character.new_y][charater.new_x] == 0 Then I translated these array coordinates to pixels, [y*16, x*16] to draw him. He was lining up nicely, wouldn't go into walls, but I noticed that since I was updating him by 16 pixels each, he was moving very fast. I decided to do it in reverse, to store the game character's position in pixels instead, so that he could use less than 16 pixels per move. I thought that a simple if statement such as this: if array[(character.new_pixel_y)/16][(character.new_pixel_x)/16] == 0 would prevent him from going into walls, but unfortunately he eats a bit of the bottom and right side walls. Any ideas how would I properly translate pixel position to the array indexes? I guess this is something simple, but I really can't figure it out :(

    I'm writing to many files in a threaded app and I'm creating one handler per file. I have HandlerFactory class that manages the distribution of these handlers. What I'd like to do is that thread A requests and gets foo.txt's file handle from the HandlerFactory class thread B requests foo.txt's file handler handler class recognizes that this file handle has been checked out handler class puts thread A to sleep thread B closes file handle using a wrapper method from HandlerFactory HandlerFactory notifies sleeping threads thread B wakes and successfully gets foo.txt's file handle This is what I have so far, def get_handler(self, file_path, type): self.lock.acquire() if file_path not in self.handlers: self.handlers[file_path] = open(file_path, type) elif not self.handlers[file_path].closed: time.sleep(1) self.lock.release() return self.handlers[file_path][type] I believe this covers the sleeping and handler retrieval successfully, but I am unsure how to wake up all threads, or even better wake up a specific thread.

    I'm new at using the glpk tool, and after writing a model for certain integer problem and running the solver (glpsol) i get negative values in some constraint that shouldn't be negative at all: No.Row name Activity Lower bound Upper bound 8 act[1] 0 -0 9 act[2] -3 -0 10 act[2] -2 -0 That constraint is defined like this: act{j in J}: sum{i in I} d[i,j] <= y[j]*m; where the sets and variables used are like this: param m, integer, 0; param n, integer, 0; set I := 1..m; set J := 1..n; var y{j in J}, binary; As the upper bound is negative, i think the problem may be in the y[j]*m parte, of the right side of the inequality.. perhaps something with the multiplication of binarys? or that the j in that side of the constrait is undefined? i dont know... i would be greatly grateful if someone can help me with this! :) and excuse for my bad english thanks in advance!

I need to make a split-view inside a navigation because I need to make a login system. After login, then we can see the split view. I found that someone say must need to set it to be root view, some say do not need. However I cannot do it in both way. Can anyone teach me how to do that step by step??   • Adding on touch event to images inside gridview

    I have a gridview where each item has a image and a textview (an app), i added the onItemClick to the gridview in order to launch the app, i also removed the orange selection and made selector in xml so when pressed the text would change to grey and on release it would return to white. My problem is that i need the image to apply an alpha value when pressed and restore the previous alpha on release i tested a lot of ways and none did worked correctly. I came close with the updated answer from the autor of the question: How to set alpha value for drawable in a StateListDrawable?, but some how the state pressed never gets called, i don´t know if this is because i am using the onitemClick to launch the app or not. Also i since i can´t define the alpha on imageview xml i don´t know what else to do Any help will be appreciated

For ex - [@"a--b-c---d" htmlList: @"--"] returns @ "ab-c-d" the "--" is the delimiter to seperate the string of elements. I have used NSSArray to store the input string and function componentsSeperatedByString:@"--" to get the elements. How do I go ahead in adding the HTML tags li and /li between elements and ul and /ul at the end of the entire list? Please help, Im a beginner in objective -C

  • jQuery hover() event on div element within a button element

    I can't seem to get jQuery to notice the div within the following markup <button class="button submit positive right" id="omnisubmit" type="submit"> <div class="label">Submit</div> <div class="controller">&nbsp;</div> </button> And here is the jQuery I'm currently using: $("button#omnisubmit div.controller").hover(function () { console.log("Hover..."); }); However, jQuery doesn't seem to pick up when the mouse is hovering over that div, $("button#omnisubmit div.controller").hover( works correctly, of course. I have a feeling it's because putting divs inside buttons may not be standard HTML?
