  • Implementing scroll view that is much larger than the screen view with random images

    - by pulegium
    What I'm trying to do is to implement something like the fruit machine scroll view. Basically I have a sequence of images (randomly generated on the fly) and I want to allow the users to scroll through this line. There can fit approx 10 images on the screen, but the line is virtually unlimited. My question is what would be the best approach in implementing this? So far I've thought of having a UIImageView going across the screen (with width equal to the sum of 10 images) and the image associated with it would be a combination of 12 or so images, with two images falling out of the visible area, this would allow for smooth scrolling. If the user scrolls further, then I would reconstruct the image associated with the view so the new images are appended and the old one's are discarded. This image reconstruction business sounds bit complicated, so I was wondering if there's a more logical way to implement this. There's one more thing, I want to have two lines crossing each other with images, bit like conveyor belts crossing. If that makes any sense... Bit like below: V1 V2 H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 V4 V5 So if the vertical belt is moved it'd be like: V2 H3 H1 H2 V4 H4 H5 V5 V6 H1-H5, V1-V6 being automatically generated images. I'm not asking for the implementation code, just the thoughts on the principles how to implement this. Thanks!! :)

  • Invalid Memory Acess for JavaFX ScrollBar on Snow-Leopard

    - by Mike Caron
    I created the following JavaFX script, which when run, generates an Invalid memory access on Snow-Leopard. What is it about javafx.scene.control.ScrollBar that is causing a memory failure? Stage { title: "Scroll View" scene: Scene { content: [ ScrollBar { min: 0 max: 100 value: 0 blockIncrement: 10 vertical: false } ] } resizable: false } I'm using whatever JavaFX (at least 1.2) that comes with NetBeans 6.8: Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.8 (Build 200912041610) Java: 1.6.0_17; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 14.3-b01-101 System: Mac OS X version 10.6.2 running on x86_64; MacRoman; en_US (nb)

  • [Flex 4] Removing sort arrows from AdvancedDataGridColumn Header.

    - by zeroDivisible
    Hello, I am doing this simple project using Flex 4 SDK and I got stuck with this simple problem: I have turned sortable property for AdvancedDataGridColumn to false, but the column header is still rendered as: As You can see, my label for this header is "06", but the column header is divided and it keeps the place for sort arrow. How can I change this? I would like my column header to contain only my label. I know that most probably I need to do some magic with AdvancedDataGridHeaderRenderer but I just started learning Flex and would like to receive some help. Thank You for help. Best regards, Mike.

  • Beginning with event listeners

    - by terence6
    I have a simple app, showing picture made of tiled images(named u1, u2,...,u16.jpg). Now I'd like to add some Events to it, so that I can show these images only when proper button is clicked. I've tried doing it on my own, but it's not working. Where am I doing something wrong? Original code : import java.awt.GridLayout; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.border.BevelBorder; public class Tiles_2 { public static void main(String[] args) { final JFrame f = new JFrame("Usmiech"); JPanel panel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(4, 4, 3, 3)); JLabel l = new JLabel(); for (int i = 1; i < 17; i++) { String path = "u"+ i+".jpg"; l = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(path)); l.setBorder(BorderFactory.createBevelBorder(BevelBorder.RAISED)); panel.add(l); } f.setContentPane(panel); f.setSize(300, 300); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.setVisible(true); } } New code : import java.awt.GridLayout; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.border.BevelBorder; import java.awt.event.*; public class Zad_8_1 implements ActionListener { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { JButton b = (JButton)(e.getSource()); String i = b.getText(); b = new JButton(new ImageIcon("u"+i+".jpg")); } public static void main(String[] args) { final JFrame f = new JFrame("Smile"); JPanel panel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(4, 4, 3, 3)); JButton l = null; for (int i = 1; i < 17; i++) { String path = "u"+ i+".jpg"; l = new JButton(""+i); l.setBorder(BorderFactory.createBevelBorder(BevelBorder.RAISED)); l.setSize(53,53); panel.add(l); } f.setContentPane(panel); f.setSize(300, 300); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.setVisible(true); } } This should work like this : http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/3129/lab8a.jpg

  • Java CountDownLatch used to wait for JFrame to dispose

    - by Brian
    I have referenced this previous question as well as other sources, but cannot get CountDownLatch to work correctly. Background: mainFrame creates new Frame called dataEntryFrame. When dataEntryFrame "Submit" button is clicked, record added to database and dataEntryFrame disposed. At this point, mainFrame should clear and reload a jList that shows all records. Issue: When dataEntryFrame loads, java freezes, dataEntryFrame components never load. I cannot get past this part... then, in the DataEntryFrame, CountDownLatch should only decrements after the submit button is clicked, successfully adds a record to a database table, and disposes itself. Or when the user clicks cancel... Code: From MainFrame CountDownLatch dataEntryDone = new CountDownLatch(1); DataEntryFrame f = new DataEntryFrame(dataEntryDone); Thread newThread = new Thread(f); newThread.start(); dataEntryDone.await(); Code: From DataEntryFrame public void run(){ initComponents(); loadOtherData(); this.setVisible(true); } void submit(){ addRecord(); this.dispose() dataEntryDone.countDown(); }

  • "pushModalScreen called by a non-event thread" thrown on event thread

    - by JGWeissman
    I am trying to get my Blackberry application to display a custom modal dialog, and have the opening thread wait until the user closes the dialog screen. final Screen dialog = new FullScreen(); ...// Fields are added to dialog Application.getApplication().invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { Application.getUiApplication().pushModalScreen(dialog); } }); This is throwing an Exception which says "pushModalScreen called by a non-event thread" despite the fact that I am using invokeAndWait to call pushModalScreen from the event thread. Any ideas about what the real problem is? Here is the code to duplicate this problem: package com.test; import net.rim.device.api.ui.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.component.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.container.*; public class Application extends UiApplication { public static void main(String[] args) { new Application(); } private Application() { new Thread() { public void run() { Application.this.enterEventDispatcher(); } }.start(); final Screen dialog = new FullScreen(); final ButtonField closeButton = new ButtonField("Close Dialog"); closeButton.setChangeListener(new FieldChangeListener() { public void fieldChanged(Field field, int context) { Application.getUiApplication().popScreen(dialog); } }); dialog.add(closeButton); Application.getApplication().invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { try { Application.getUiApplication().pushModalScreen(dialog); } catch (Exception e) { // To see the Exception in the debugger throw new RuntimeException(e.getMessage()); } } }); System.exit(0); } } I am using Component Package version 4.5.0.

By default, the first RadioButtonField shows a rectangle around it to show its selected, and the rectangle moves if you change the selection to the other RadioButtonField or other buttons and textboxes on the page. • virtualenv on Windows: not over-riding installed package

    - by Tom
    My current setup is Python 2.5/ Django 1.1.1 on Windows. I want to start using Django 1.2 on some projects, but can't use it for everything. Which is just the sort of thing I've got virtualenv for. However, I'm running into a problem I've never encountered and it's hard to Google for: installing Django 1.2 into a virtualenv has no effect for me. If I then activate the environment and do python import django django.VERSION I get "1.1.1 Final". Django is installed in the site-packages directory of my environment and the init file in the root shows that it is 1.2. But the environment falls back to 1.1.1, even if I create the environment with the --no-site-packages flag. What am I screwing up?

  • SWT: scrollable area within a tab

    - by DaveJohnston
    I am trying to add a scrollable area to my tabbed window. So far I have a CTabFolder in a shell. I have added 5 CTabItems to it and everything works as expected. On one of my CTabItems the contents are too big to fit on the screen so I would like to be able to scroll. The contents is a collection of Groups each containing various widgets. So the CTabFolder is created as follows: CTabFolder tabs = new CTabFolder(shell, SWT.BORDER); tabs.setSimple(false); tabs.setUnselectedImageVisible(false); tabs.setUnselectedCloseVisible(false); tabs.setMinimizeVisible(false); tabs.setMaximizeVisible(false); FormData tabsLayoutData = new FormData(); tabsLayoutData.top = new FormAttachment(0, 5); tabsLayoutData.left = new FormAttachment(0, 5); tabsLayoutData.bottom = new FormAttachment(92, 0); tabsLayoutData.right = new FormAttachment(100, -5); tabs.setLayoutData(tabsLayoutData); Then the CTabItem: CTabItem tab = new CTabItem(tabs, SWT.NONE); tab.setText("Role"); Then the contents: Composite tabArea = new Composite(tabs, SWT.V_SCROLL); tabArea.setLayout(new FormLayout()); tab.setControl(tabArea); So the groups contained within the tab are created with tabArea as the parent and everything appears as you would expect. The problem is though that the vertical scroll bar is always present but doesn't seem to do anything. The contents are chopped off at the bottom of the tabArea composite. Is there anything else I need to do to get the scrolling to work properly?

  • JTextArea thread safe?

    - by Dhaivat Pandya
    Hello everyone, I have some code that does some initialization (including making a JTextArea object), starts three seperate threads, and then these threads try to update the JTextArea (i.e. append() to it), but its not working at all. Nothing shows up on the JTextArea (however, during the initialzation, I print some test lines onto it, and that works fine). What's going on? How can I fix this? Also, each of those threads sleeps a random amount of time every time it has to update the JTextArea. Sorry I haven't provided any code, its all spread out over several files.

  • What is the relation between ContentPane and JPanel?

    - by Roman
    I found one example in which buttons are added to panels (instances of JPanel) then panels are added to the the containers (instances generated by getContentPane) and then containers are, by the construction, included into the JFrame (the windows). I tried two things: I got rid of the containers. In more details, I added buttons to a panel (instance of JPanel) and then I added the panel to the windows (instance of JFrame). It worked fine. I got rid of the panels. In more details, I added buttons directly to the container and then I added the container to the window (instance of JFrame). So, I do not understand two things. Why do we have two competing mechanism to do the same things. What is the reason to use containers in combination with the panels (JPanel)? (For example, what for we include buttons in JPanels and then we include JPanels in the Containers). Can we include JPanel in JPanel? Can we include a container in container?

  • How to use a CTabCtrl in a MFC dialog based application ?

    - by shan23
    I need to do something which i expected to be was simple - create a tab control which has 2 tabs, implying 2 modes of operation for my app. When user clicks on Tab1, he'll be presented with some buttons and textboxes, and when he clicks Tab2, some other input method. I noticed that there was a CTabCtrl class thats used in MFC to add tabs. However, once I added the tab ctrl using the UI designer, I couldn't specify how many tabs there'll be using property window. Searching on the net, I found some examples but all of them required you to derive from CtabCtrl , create 2 or more child dialogs etc and to write your own custom class. My question is, since I want to do something so basic, why couldn't I do it using the familiar Add Event handler/Add member variable wizard and then handle everything else inside my app's class ? Surely, the default CTabCtrl class can do something useful without needing to derive from it ?

  • Simple popup java form with at least two fields

    - by nunos
    This is, I suppose, a very simple question for any Java programmer. My question is as simple as this: When the user clicks a button, I want to show a popup form that should have at least two JTextFields and two JLabels, so using JOptionPane.showInputDialog is not a possibility. Thanks.

  • IPhone Objectvie C

    - by Sea
    I am trying to determine if a UILabel was touched and if so do something. Give .. . . . UILabel * site = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 185, 320, 30)]; site.text = [retriever.plistDict valueForKey:@"url"]; site.textAlignment =UITextAlignmentCenter; site.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; site.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; site.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [theBgView addSubview:site]; [site release]; . . . Then I write the callback. - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ retriever = [PListRetriever sharedInstance]; CGPoint pt = [[touches anyObject] locationInView: self]; NSURL *target = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:[retriever.plistDict valueForKey:@"url"]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:target]; } The problem is right now, no matter where I touch in the View the Url is being opened. How do I determine if only just my label was touched?
