If my query is set to *, I see the event. If I set it to request:"css", I see CSS requests, as expected. However, all of the following yield no results: request:"/" request:"\/" request:"\\/" I tried a Lucene regular expression, with no luck: request:/\// I note that someone else is getting what appears to be a similar issue, although that's on Kibana 2: https://github.com/rashidkpc/Kibana/issues/401 How can I query for requests that end with a / character?

  • Recommendations for managing DNS issues when hosting customer sites.

    I'm working at a company which primarily provides SaaS products but also will host some of our customers corporate websites. My question relates to recommendations for managing DNS for client's domain names. My objectives: Not restrict my ability to change the server's IP address such as might happen when I move my servers to a new host. Not have to contact the customer to change their domain's DNS if I need to change the server's IP address. Often times, customers lose this information or have to track down the one person with any knowledge of the domain settings. Map both .clientdomain.com and www.clientdomain.com to the proper IIS site. However, I'm running into a couple of common problems: Sometimes, the DNS console provided by the client's hosting company does not allow for CNAME records. Sometimes, the DNS console provided by the client's hosting company will not let me create a CNAME entry for .spiffydomain.com because the given hosting company has created a SOA record for that entry or simply requires that .spiffydomain.com be an A record. I believe one solution to #2 is to use a wildcard for a CNAME entry (i.e. *.spiffydomain.com). Is that correct? How do other folks that are hosting many customer's site manage change of DNS entries on their servers?

  • Where should I redirect (removed) phishing pages

    I was unfortunately the victim of a PHP exploit. Looking through my webserver logs, people are still attempting to reach the URL used in the phish. I want to redirect them to a site that will educate these people on what phishing is. My question: Is there a (generic / vendor-neutral) phishing education website that you suggest I send them to with a 301 redirect? (I assume a 301 is the best option.)

  • DNS records on website.. What are they for?

    Recently we had to get some ddos protection for our website because of the large attacks we were seeing after getting a bit of popularity. We handed over our domain and hosting information to our ddos protection provider. It worked perfectly but I have a question. On our DNS records we have the Host and Answer and Type. The Host has our domain name there. The answer is this: SOMETEXTXXXX.dv.googlehosted.com. And when i copy and paste it into my browser it gives me a 404 error. But our website still loads and functions as it should. I don't understand why it would need this? I asked them about this and they said it is a method for ddos protection and the other IPs are the reverse proxy (the other ips give a 404 error too). Can anyone expand on this more please. How does all this tie in together and make the internet browser know where to point the person with all these reverse proxies and stuff I don't understand. Thank you.   • User-friendly program to create editable & searchable pdf files, like tax & application forms and su

    Hello. Can somebody recommend user-friendly program that will create ( or convert from Excel & Word, or OpenOffice) editable pdf forms. You know like tax forms, that some of us filled out. Where you can create a form with predefined format and stationary, but let user edit/fill out fields. I need something user-friendly that a regular person can use. I'm NOT looking for a pdf library ( I already use wkhtmltopdf for generating pdfs programmaticaly). The reason is that we have about 400 documents ( internal expense forms, traing forms, etc) in .doc and .xls format that we want to convert to editable pdf ( so that people don't have to fill them out by hand). Coding 400 templates and then converting them using some lib or command line tool - is not my idea of fun, espsecially since those form change all the time. I'd like to just give HR and Quality department the tool, so that they can maintain those documents.     I'm curious to hear what approach people take to planning for cross-browser support when developing a website. There are generally two approaches I've seen developers take in their workflow: -optimize for webkit then apply hacks for IE7-9, or -optimize for IE7-8 then apply newer features for IE9/webkit Basically starting at the front of technology and working toward the back, or starting at the back of technology and working toward the front. How do you do things? What advantages or disadvantage do you perceive in the different way of doing things wrt to developing cross-browser support?

Hacking TreeView TreeView needs some little hacking to make it work as client-side component. Be warned that if you need more than I show you here you need to write a lot of JavaScript code. For more advanced scenarios I suggest you to use some jQuery based tree component. This example works for you if you need something done quickly. Number one problem is getting over the postbacks because in our scenario postbacks only screw up things. Also we need to find a way how to let our client-side code to know that something was selected from TreeView. We solve these to problems at same time: let’s move to JavaScript links. We have to make sure that when user clicks the node then information is sent to some JavaScript function. Also we have to make sure that this function returns something that is not processed by browser. Seems very basic but it is not hard to make it look more professional using style sheets. Conclusion jQuery components and ASP.NET controls have both their strong sides and weaknesses. In this posting I showed you how you can quickly produce good results when combining jQuery  and ASP.NET controls without pushing to the limits. We used simple hack to get over the postback issue of TreeView control and we made it work as client-side component that is initialized in server. You can find many other good combinations that make your UI more user-friendly and easier to use.

  • How to access shared folders from file editors?

    I am running a xampp server on one of my other computers, and when using the brows functionality from text editors like gedit, bluefish and Eclipse/Aptana studio I can access the shares I made for the sites running on the server. Even when I right click-edit with-application with the the file browser it does not open the file in the editor. How can get this to work without having to copy the file over from the share then edit and then upload again after I am done? Similar issue when trying to upload a file to hosting server direct from the file server I have with filezilla. with this I also need to copy the file over to my pc and then from there upload to the hosting server with filezilla. EDIT: For eclipse I found a build in functionality to do this. (new-remote system connection-Enter the access details) Nothing yet on FileZilla Hope my Question is clear

    I hope I have asked this in the right forum. Basically, we're designing an Online Store and I am designing the class structure for ordering a product and want some clarification on what I have so far: So a customer comes, selects their product, chooses the quantity and selects 'Purchase' (I am using the Facade Pattern - So subsystems execute when this action is performed). My class structure: < Order > < Product > <Customer > There is no inheritance, more Association < Order has < Product , < Customer has < Order . Does this structure look ok? I've noticed that I don't handle the "Quantity" separately, I was just going to add this into the "Product" class, but, do you think it should be a class of it's own? Hope someone can help.

  • Adding features to an SQL Server 2008 standard with SP1

    I have MS SQL Server 2008 with SP1 installed. I want to add the Full text feature to the installation. Do I need to run the SP1 update again after I add this feature? If I do try to run it (SQLServer2008SP1-KB968369-x64-ENU) it fails with this error: "There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer". Should I uninstall SP1 and re-install? Doesnt make much sense.

    In general, what do you think is better in regards to adding content to a site, to allow users to add content to the site and put a flag button to report it if it doesn't fit with the site, or should only I add the content and remove that option? It will be a small site but I don't know if I'll manage to scan the site constantly or deal with the flags and on the other hand I'm worried that the site wont move forward because there will be lot less content, thoughts?

  • Using json as database with EF, how can I link EF and the json file during DbContext initialization?

    For a personal testing-project I am considering to create a SPA with the following technologies: ASP.NET MVC + EF + WebAPI + AngularJS. The project will make use of small amount of data, so I was thinking I could use just a .json file as storage. But I am not sure about how to proceed with the link between EF and the json file in the initialization of the DbContext. I found a stackoverflow related question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13899342/can-we-use-json-as-a-database I know the basics of edit files and store data inside. What I tried is to get the data from the json file in the initilizer method and create the objects one by one. This is more a doubt about how this works if I save/update an object in the dbcontext, do I need to go through all the elements and add/update it manually? Is it better to rewrite the complete file? According to this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7895335/append-data-to-a-json-file-with-php it is not a good practice to use json/XML for data wich will be manipulated. Anyone has experience with anything similar? Is this a really bad idea and I should use another kind of data-storage?

I'm looking at Python next, but a lot of it is a bit alien to me as a PHP developer. I'm less concerned about learning the language itself. I'm positive there's plenty of good resources, documentation and libraries to help me get the code down. I'm less sure about the technical aspects of how to set up a dev environment, unit testing and other more mundane details that are very important, aid in rapid development, but aren't as widely covered.     I'm considering implementing slugs in my blog. My blog uses MongoDB. One of the side-effects of using MongoDB is that it uses relatively long hex string IDs. I have some longer ones, but intend to limit the maximum character limit for slugs to something reasonable. At what point does a URL become so long that it hurts SEO instead of improves it? In this case, should I leave my URLs alone, or add slugs?
