Once you install the Java ME SDK plugins on Eclipse, you can start developing, debugging, and profiling your mobile or embedded application. Skin CreatorWith the Custom Device Skin Creator, you can create your own skins. The appearance of the custom skins is generic, but the functionality can be tailored to your own specifications.  Here are the release highlights. The AMS in the CLDC emulators has a new look and new functionality (Install Application, Manage Certificate Authorities and Output Console). It you cannot watch static variables during an Eclipse debugging session, and sometimes the Variable view cannot show data. In the source code, move the mouse over the required variable to inspect the variable value. A real device shown in the Device Selector is deleted from the Device Manager, yet it still appears. Kill the device manager in the system tray, and relaunch it. Then you will see the device removed from the list. On-device profiling does not work on a device. CPU profiling, networking monitoring, and memory monitoring do not work on the device, since the device runtime does not yet support it. Please do the profiling with your emulator first, and then test your application on the device. In the Device Selector, using Clean Database on real external device causes a null pointer exception. External devices do not have a database recognized by the SDK, so you can disregard this exception message. Suspending the Emulator during a Memory Monitor session hangs the emulator. Do not use the Suspend option (F5) while the Memory Monitor is running. If the emulator is hung, open the Windows task manager and stop the emulator process (javaw). To switch to another application while the Memory Monitor is running, choose Application > AMS Home (F4), and select a different application. Because POST actions are usually much more then controllers, the work would be a little crazy. Problem Usually a controller contains actions for HTTP GET and actions for HTTP POST requests, and usually validations are expected for HTTP POST requests. Specify Non-constant salt in runtime By default, the salt should be a compile time constant, so it can be used for the [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] or [ValidateAntiForgeryTokenWrapper] attribute. Problem One Web product might be sold to many clients. If a constant salt is evaluated in compile time, after the product is built and deployed to many clients, they all have the same salt. Of course, clients do not like this. Even some clients might want to specify a custom salt in configuration. In these scenarios, salt is required to be a runtime value. Solution In the above [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] and [ValidateAntiForgeryTokenWrapper] attribute, the salt is passed through constructor. Now the salt is no long required to be a compile time constant. Submit token via AJAX For browser side, once server side turns on anti-forgery validation for HTTP POST, all AJAX POST requests will fail by default. Problem In AJAX scenarios, the HTTP POST request is not sent by form. Take jQuery as an example:$.post(url, { productName: "Tofu", categoryId: 1 // Token is not posted. }, callback); This kind of AJAX POST requests will always be invalid, because server side code cannot see the token in the posted data. Solution Basically, the tokens must be printed to browser then sent back to server. So first of all, HtmlHelper.AntiForgeryToken() need to be called somewhere. Now the browser has token in both HTML and cookie. For example, an HTTP POST request can be sent by an iframe, while the token is in the parent window.     I am using a third party rendering API, Marmalade, on top of OpenGL code and I cannot get my matrices correct. One of the API's authors states this: We're right handed by default, and we treat y as up by convention. Since IwGx's coordinate system has (0,0) as the top left, you typically need a 180 degree rotation around Z in your view matrix. I think the viewer does this by default. In my OpenGL app I have access to the view and projection matrices separately. How can I convert them to fit the criteria used by my third party rendering API? I don't understand what they mean to rotate 180 degrees around Z, is that in the view matrix itself or something in the camera before making the view matrix. Any code would be helpful, thanks.

  • Beggining OpenGL vs beggining DirectX and some question about the philosophical difference between them

    I'm begginning with Direct X at school, and my teacher said it was harder to begin with than OpenGL, but I read several things that in fact, Direct X was more advanced than OpenGL in terms of recent graphic cards features. Since I'm far from wanting to do top notch effects, which can already be implemented with existing engines and/or shaders, I wanted to know your opinion: Can OpenGL be considered like a more basic, KISS, hardware agnostic, graphic library to just do 3D with acceleration, and consider DirectX like a top notch, game-oriented graphic API that will always support the next-gen 3D chips ? Citation from wikipedia on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_5 : John Carmack mentioned in his keynote at QuakeCon 2007 that the id Tech 5 engine will not be using the DirectX 10 API. I don't want to seem like I'm minding open source because Carmack does and because he is famous, it's just that android and iPhone are out there, and Direct X doesn't seems to me to be the necessary API to know, since Windows supports OpenGL, and since the 360 is just a console among other consoles.

  • forked-daapd without avahi

    I'm trying to setup forked-daapd, but i'd prefer it if i could run it without avahi (or rather define my own avahi service instead of using the dbus api). The reason is that i want a netatalk share for my time machine backups and a samba share for the symbolic link support (netatalk doesn't support symlinks). Those two are defined as different services in avahi. To make that work, i have to disable avahi's dbus api, or else netatalk tends to take over all the services (osx prefers afp over smb). If I now try to start forked-daapd, it just doesn't. Forked-daapd requires avahi's dbus api to be enabled and running. Is there some sort of way around this limitation, so that i can manually define my own daap service in avahi. Maybe something like enabling but ignoring the dbus in avahi, or launching a duplicate avahi daemon with a different config file?

  • Switching between Discrete and Integrated GPUs

    Hello everyone, I develop CUDA applications on my Alienware M17x portable back-breaker, which has two discrete GTX 285M GPUs and one integrated GeForce 9400M GPU. I can currently switch between them using NVIDIA's software, but I would like the ability to do so within my applications for purposes of benchmarking and general convenience. Apparently this requires the "NDA version" of NVIDIA's Driver API, which I know not how to obtain. Would using this API be the only way to accomplish what I seek, and if so, how would I obtain it? A solution using Windows APIs would also be acceptable, though less preferable to one which would leverage a cross-platform API. I have created a similar thread concerning the matter on NVIDIA's forum, which is down at the time of this writing. Thanks for reading my question; it is much appreciated!

  • html5 based advertisement guidelines

    I want to experiment with the idea of an html based ad that utilizes my company's search API, is anyone here aware of any rules or documentation (general or per network) that explains the guidelines for creating such ads - ie markup, delivery etc - note this is not a question on how to use my company's api, I already know how to do that. For example, I would like to access the api with jsonp, probably via jquery? Can this be done? Would I host the ad and have loaded via an iframe? I just don't know these things. It is all so new to me... I... I'm scared. Actually, I'm not. However, I would like to know. Thanks in advance.

  • Are there any reasons to use Legacy (2.X) OpenGL?

    The benefits are well documented of the Modern OpenGL 3.X & 4.X API's, but I'm wondering if there are ANY benefits to keeping with the old OpenGL, Or if learning OpenGL 2.X is a complete waste of time now no matter what? Particularly I've wondered if using the OpenGL 2.X API is appropriate if the target platform had graphics hardware capable of only up to OpenGL 2.X. Would a driver update on said target platform allow programs compiled using the Modern OpenGL API's to be released on this old platform? If they both work, which would be faster? Thanks
