    In our oroject we already have a lots of tables (100+). Some of them contains a lot of columns (50-100) and we are facing the need of adding more columns from time to time. What do you think is best - from maintenance and performance point of view - to split these huge tables in smaller entities or to keep the tables the way they are ? We are using an ORM tools, so we don't need to write custom request.

    Im just wondering how i use xmlencoder to serialize ArrayList where foo is my own made class. Do i have to do anything in particular, ie define my own xml structure first and then call toString on each value in my list and write it out? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial? http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/persistence4/ Thats what i have been looking at but it doesnt seem to mention what to do with non library classes.     I know this is achievable with boost as per: Using boost::accumulators, how can I reset a rolling window size, does it keep extra history? But I really would like to avoid using boost. I have googled and not found any suitable or readable examples. Basically I want to track the moving average of an ongoing stream of a stream of floating point numbers using the most recent 1000 numbers as a data sample. What is the easiest way to achieve this?

    I'm trying to do a sparse checkout of a folder containing externals, but none of the externals are being checked out. This issue seems to indicate that this behavior may be by design, or at least that it isn't clear what the behavior should be. From my point of view, the obvious behavior is that externals are treated just as any other directory, and checked out following the same sparse checkout rules. Is there a way to work around this except manually checking out the externals?

    Hi all I have a URL such as http://www.domain.com/index.php?p=register. I want to redirect that to use HTTPS (SSL) with .htaccess, but only on this, and a couple of other pages (the login page, etc), but not the entire site. The URLs don't point to directories, but are used to dynamically include different files. Can someone give me a pointer or an example of how to get a single page redirect to HTTPS please?     Which approach would you recommend to the following issue: My app needs to have an account with several users inputting tasks on the same account. Only one of the users (the one that opened the account) will have admin privileges. Im thinking on using Authlogic for authentication and CanCan for determining user privileges. The point is that I'd like the User that opened the Account to be admin by default being him the only one to be able to generate other Users for his account with a different privileges. Thanks, CD

    I am playing with matplotlib - I have a bar chart, and I want to highlight the bar which user clicks. I have a callback that goes through a rect collection (the one I got from self.axis.bar(...)) and finds out which one was clicked (looking at the coordinates). At this point I want to call something to change the colour of the current bar. Is it possible? How do I do that?

    I am trying to read a file that has been saved on the /system folder using Paperclip, for example. But when I use that .url method from Paperclip to read that file using File.new, I get that the file isn't found. The directory is correct, but I still can't access it. What is the right way to find a file for File.new for example? I tried to point to other files, as well, and to no avail.

    Hello everyone, I created a manifest file with 1000 items. Safari, Mozilla browsers are saving the files offline successfully and even Android saves the files correctly offline. On iPad and iPhone when I am trying to save more than 300 items in some point the applicationCache returns "error". When I am trying to save less (e.x.: 200) it saves the files correctly and the applicationCache returns "cached". Any ideas? Thank you.

    I've never built a ff extension before and before I start I want some feedback on my idea to make sure its possible. I want a firefox extension that allows me to supply a url with parameters in GET format, the extension would take the url, parse it, and submit the request as POST rather than GET. Is this possible? and could someone give me some advice on how to start designing an extension? or point me at a tutorial?
