  I have a function that takes a pointer to a superclass and performs operations on it. However, at some point, the function must make a deep copy of the inputted object. Is there any way I can perform such a copy? It occurred to me to make the function a template function and simply have the user pass the type, but I hold out hope that C++ offers a more elegant solution.

I can’t seem to get the #{@user.name} to work in my flash[:notice] Everything else works just fine I can add new users, but when I add a new user instead of saying “User John Doe was successfully created”, it says “User #{@user.name} was successfully created.” I'm at this point in the depot app: depot_p/app/controllers/users_controller.rb to work.

• Why doesn't HashTable.Contains() just simply return false if it is passed a null?

  I understand why passing a null to HashTable.Contains() doesn't work, but I don't understand what the point of it throwing an ArgumentNullException is - instead of just simply returning false? What is the benefit of throwing the exception (other than to make me do null checks before calling .Contains())? Caused By [System.ArgumentNullException] Key cannot be null.   Could anyone please point me to a good tutorial on how to connect a Windows Mobile 6 device to a wireless connection shared on Windows XP ? That is the PC shares the wireless connection (add hoc network ?) and the device connects via Internet Explorer to a server that runs on the PC.   The compiler complains about this code: HashMap<String,int> userName2ind = new HashMap<String,int>(); for (int i=0; i<=players.length; i++) { userName2ind.put(orderedUserNames[i],i+1); } It writes "unexpected type" and point on int. If I replace int by String and i+1 by i+"1", the compilation goes OK. What is wrong with in here?

I'd like to have the button fade in when the image is finished downloading. I know I can animate in the viewDidLoad, but I assign the image in the cellForRowAtIndex function. How do I go about animating just the UIButton at a later point in time when I update the UIButton with the image?

  Hi there, I have a model Follow that defines a user_id and a followed_user_id. If you've used Twitter, this should make sense. I'm trying to make followed_user_id point to a User model, so I can access the user that is being followed through f.followed_user (in the same way that if I have an Entry with belongs_to :user and a user_id column I can use entry.user to get the user.) How can I do this? Thanks!
