  • Escaping quotes twice in PHP

    Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

    What's the best way to accomplish the following. I have strings in this format: $s1 = "name1|type1"; //(pipe is the separator) $s2 = "name2|type2"; $s3 = "name3"; //(in some of them type can be missing) Let's assume namen/typen are strings and they can not contain a pipe. Since I need to exctract the name/type separetly, I do: $temp = explode($s1, '|'); $name = $temp[0]; $type = ( isset($temp[1]) ? $temp[1] : '' ); Is there an easier (smarter whatever faster) way to do this without having to do isset($temp[1]) or count($temp). I have a date, that is converted to mm-dd-yyyy when posting it to mysql i have re-ordered it to yyyy-mm-dd but yet it still will not insert $date = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($_POST['leaving_date']) ); any advice?     Hi I am working on a kind of raffle system which divides 1 million random numbers into an x amount of tickets, e.g. 1 million random numbers to 10,000 tickets. Each ticket is a row in a database, we then have another table ticket numbers in which i need to give 100 numbers to each ticket they are related by the ticket id. I can use regex to extract the info with preg_match_all but I feel this is not the right way as the data is already well structured. Any other method ?

    My function looks like that. It works but does lots of work (recursively calls itself and does lots of db queries.). There must be another way to do same thing but with array (with one query). I can't figure out how to modify this function to get it work with array.     I have made an encryption function which encrypts a simple value and stores it in the database. Is there a reason I get all those question marks or a way to get rid of them?
