  • Javascript Hex String to Image

    - by Gunnar Hoffman
Hello everyone. I'll cut right to the chase. Right now I am developing a web based application. It has a PHP REST based architecture that serves up XML documents. On many of these documents attributes are hex encoded picture strings. On the client side jQuery AJAX fetches an XML document with a picture in it. I need to display said picture in some <img> tags. However my knowledge on such methods is lacking so here I am asking for help. Goal: JavaScript String variable in hex or base64 HTML displayed image. Cross browser is required, or a hack for the ones that do not support it is fine. Thanks, Gunnar

  • SWT Filedialog Open into home folder

    - by Ivan
I want to open a FileDialog window into the user home folder (i.e. /home/user or /Users/unsername) I read the user home folder, using System.getProperty: String homefolder = System.getProperty(user.home); And the variable containts the correct home folder. But when i set the filterpath in FileDialog, it opens (in linux) only the /home level not entering into the user home dir. This is the source code: FileDialog dialog = new FileDialog(shell); dialog.setText("Choose a certificate"); String platform = SWT.getPlatform(); String homefolder = System.getProperty("user.home"); dialog.setFilterPath(homefolder); Any idea? Here a screenshot:

  • Deep Null checking, is there a better way?

    - by Mattias Konradsson
We've all been there, we have some deep property like cake.frosting.berries.loader that we need to check if it's null so there's no exception. The way to do is is to use a short-circuiting if statement if (cake != null && cake.frosting != null && cake.frosting.berries != null) ... This strikes me however as not very elegant, there should perhaps be an easier way to check the entire chain and see if it comes up against a null variable/property. So is it possible using some extension method or would it be a language feature, or is it just a bad idea?

  • Double Negation in C++ code.

    - by Brian Gianforcaro
I just came onto a project with a pretty huge code base. I'm mostly dealing with C++ and a lot of the code they write uses double negation for their boolean logic. if (!!variable && (!!api.lookup("some-string"))) { do_some_stuff(); } I know these guys are intelligent programmers, it's obvious they aren't doing this by accident. I'm no seasoned C++ expert, my only guess at why they are doing this is that they want to make absolutely positive that the value being evaluated is the actual boolean representation. So they negate it, then negate that again to get it back to its actual boolean value. Is this a correct? or am I missing something else? Thanks, Brian Gianforcaro

  • Issues using ivy

    - by Almas
Hi, I am new bie to ivy. I am using packager resolver and that packager resolver resolves the zip file, unzip it, extracts the jar file from it in temp build file, but it stays temporarily and only the jar file which i specified as a module name gets copied to destination rest of all are ignored. Is there a way i can get all the jar files? I use preseverBuildDirectories but is there a better way to do it? Also is it possible for me to publish an artifact to svn using normal ivy? I got error while i was trying to use ivy 2.1.0 on XP using ant 1.8.0 java.illegalArguementException saying authorization failed. Is there a way i can work through ivy:publish? Is there a way i can use ivy variable in packager.xml? Thanks in advance, Almas

  • Change spring bean properties at configuration time

    - by Nick Gerakines
In a spring servlet xml file, I'm using org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean to regularly fire a set of triggers. <bean class="org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean"> <property name="triggers"> <list> <ref local="AwesomeTrigger" /> <ref local="GreatTrigger" /> <ref local="FantasticTrigger"/> </list> </property> </bean> The issue is that in different environments, I don't want certain triggers firing. Is there a way to include some sort of configuration or variable defined either in my build.properties for the environment or in a spring custom context properties file that assists the bean xml to determine which triggers should be included in the list? That way, for example, AwesomeTrigger would be called in development but not qa.

  • Different files on shared partition?

    - by Matt Robertson
I am dual-booting Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.04. My partition scheme looks like this: /dev/sda1 - Windows 8 (nfts) /dev/sda2 - Ubuntu / (ext4) /dev/sda3 - Ubuntu home (ext4) /dev/sda5 - swap /dev/sda6 - Shared data partition (exfat) (First off, yes I do have exfat libraries installed on Ubuntu) I created some PNG images in Windows and saved them on my shared partition. From Ubuntu, I edited the images in GIMP and saved them (replacing the ones on the shared partition). When I boot into Windows, the files appear unchanged - exactly like they did before I edited them from Ubuntu. I even added a folder and deleted some other files, but none of these changes exist in Windows. When I boot into Ubuntu, all of the changes are still there. It is as if Windows is caching the old file structure... How is this possible? Thanks in advance. • Alternative design for a synonyms table?

    - by Majid
I am working on an app which is to suggest alternative words/phrases for input text. I have doubts about what might be a good design for the synonyms table. Design considerations: number of synonyms is variable, i.e. football has one synonym (soccer), but in particular has two (particularly, specifically) if football is a synonym to soccer, the relation exists in the opposite direction as well. our goal is to query a word and find its synonyms we want to keep the table small and make adding new words easy What comes to my mind is a two column design with col a = word and col b = delimited list of synonyms Is there any better alternative? What about using two tables, one for words and the other for relations?

  • Why doesn't GCC produce a warning when assigning a signed literal to an unsigned type?

    - by maerics
Several questions on this website reveal pitfalls when mixing signed and unsigned types and most compilers seem to do a good job about generating warnings of this type. However, GCC doesn't seem to care when assigning a signed constant to an unsigned type! Consider the following program: /* foo.c */ #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { unsigned int x=20, y=-30; if (x > y) { printf("%d > %d\n", x, y); } else { printf("%d <= %d\n", x, y); } return 0; } Compilation with GCC 4.2.1 as below produces no output on the console: gcc -Werror -Wall -Wextra -pedantic foo.c -o foo The resulting executable generates the following output: $ ./foo 20 <= -30 Is there some reason that GCC doesn't generate any warning or error message when assigning the signed value -30 to the unsigned integer variable y?

  • How active record is automatically setting up the autoincremental value of ID?

    - by piemesons
Here this is what we are doing:-- an_order = Order.new an_order.name = "Dave Thomas" an_order.email = "[email protected]" an_order.address = "123 Main St" an_order.pay_type = "check" an_order.save Now it will insert a new row in orders table right. I m having a ID column in that table. Now suppose after inserting this record the value of the ID corresponding to this record is 100. Now how this 100 value came to know? Does the previous value of ID ie 99 (Suppose) is stored somewhere in some variable/file in the ORM layer or before inserting this value a query was fired to know about the last inserted value or database is itself doing that or anything else???

  • Loading html dynamically using Javascript and PHP

    - by Vafello
I have the following code: <?php if ($x == 1){ ?> <b>Some html...</b> <?php } else if ($x==2){ ?> <b> Other html...</b> <?php } ?> Now I would like to have two links below (a href) and somehow pass the variable $x (so Link1 passes x=1 and Link2 passes x=2) in order to load the relevant bit of code from if statement. I know I can pass $x using form and then test its value and load required bit of code, but I would like to do it smoothly, without reloading the page. I think that JQuery could help it, but I have no idea how to do it. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

  • IN R counting hierarchical data

    - by Alison
I have a list of counties in each state that received nonattainment status in years 1995-2005. I want to know how many counties in each state each year that received this status. If my data is formatted like this, State1 Country1 YR1 Yr2 Yr3 Yr4... State1 Country2 YR1 Yr2 Yr3 Yr4 State2 County1 Yr1 Yr2..... Each year variable could have a 1 or a zero, since a county may gain or loose this status in a time period. I need to count each year how many counties in each state have nonattainment status (YRx=1), but can't think of how to do it.

  • How to generate makefile targets from variables?

    - by Ketil
I currently have a makefile to process some data. The makefile gets the inputs to the data processing by sourcing a CONFIG file, which defines the input data in a variable. Currently, I symlink the input files to a local directory, i.e. the makefile contains: tmp/%.txt: tmp ln -fs $(shell echo $(INPUTS) | tr ' ' '\n' | grep $(patsubst tmp/%,%,$@)) $@ This is not terribly elegant, but appears to work. Is there a better way? Basically, given INPUTS = /foo/bar.txt /zot/snarf.txt I would like to be able to have e.g. %.out: %.txt some command As well as targets to merge results depending on all $(INPUT) files. Also, apart from the kludgosity, the makefile doesn't work correctly with -j, something that is crucial for the analysis to complete in reasonable time. I guess that's a bug in GNU make, but any hints welcome.

  • Read tab delimited text file into MySQL table with PHP

    - by Simon S
I am trying to read in a series of tab delimited text files into existing MySQL tables. The code I have is quite simple: $lines = file("import/file_to_import.txt"); foreach ($lines as $line_num => $line) { if($line_num > 1) { $arr = explode("\t", $line); $sql = sprintf("INSERT INTO my_table VALUES('%s', '%s', '%s', %s, %s);", trim((string)$arr[0]), trim((string)$arr[1]), trim((string)$arr[2]), trim((string)$arr[3]), trim((string)$arr[4])); mysql_query($sql, $database) or die(mysql_error()); } } But no matter what I do (hence the casting before each variable in the sprintf statement) I get the "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1" error. I echo out the code, paste it into a MySQL editor and it runs fine, it just won't execute from the PHP script. What am I doing wrong?? Si

  • Getting javascript mouse position relative to website prefferably without jQuery

    - by Constructor
    I've found this snippet on Ajaxian, but I can't seem to use the cursor.y (or cursor.x) as a variable and when the function is called as such it does not seem to work. Is there a syntax problem or something else? function getPosition(e) { e = e || window.event; var cursor = {x:0, y:0}; if (e.pageX || e.pageY) { cursor.x = e.pageX; cursor.y = e.pageY; } else { cursor.x = e.clientX + (document.documentElement.scrollLeft || document.body.scrollLeft) - document.documentElement.clientLeft; cursor.y = e.clientY + (document.documentElement.scrollTop || document.body.scrollTop) - document.documentElement.clientTop; } return cursor; } I'd preffer not to use jQuery UI if possible, since I've always thaught of jQuery and librarys as a bit of an overkill for most JS programing.

  • How to check whether the form has any ShowDialog() forms open?

    - by kornelijepetak
I have a form MainForm with several properties/methods that are accessed from another thread. At some point I might open a form AuxForm with ShowDialog() and then while that modal form is open, the other thread still modifies the MainForm's properties. This is all desired. In one of the methods accessed from another thread I need to execute some code, but only if the modal AuxForm is not open. Is there any way to check this (by using .NET WF Form properties) or I need to use a flag variable? NOTE: None of these properties/methods modify the controls (so no Invoke is required).

  • Cookie: ASP.NET SessionId Issue

    - by LB
I have a load generator that appends a ASP.NET_SessionId to the Cookie when making a Soap test call from Machine A to Machine B. Cookie: ASP.NET_SessionId=gf0ouay24sdneiuicpiggn45; However, when I'm running the soap test hitting my local server it doesn't have an ASP.NET_Session variable in the cookie. Why is this happening? UPDATE: I'm getting this issue now on the server: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied was invalid. I've followed this: http://msmvps.com/blogs/omar/archive/2006/08/20/108307.aspx But to no avail.

  • watchpoint in GDB

    - by Tim
Hi, If I set a watchpoint for a variable local to the current scope, it will be auto deleted when going out of the scope. Is there any way to set it once and keep it auto alive whenever entering the same scope? Is there anyway to set conditional watchpoint, like "watch var1 if var1==0"? In my case, the condition does't work. gdb stops whenever var1's value is changed, instead of untill "var1==0" is true. My gdb is GNU gdb 6.8-debian. Thanks and regards!

  • In Ruby, how can I initialize instance variables in new objects of core classes created from literal

    - by Ollie Saunders
class Object attr_reader :foo def initialize @foo = 'bar' end end Object.new.foo # => 'bar' ''.foo # => nil //.foo # => nil [].foo # => nil I want them all to return 'bar' Am aware that you can do this already: class Object def foo 'bar' end end But I specifically want to initialize a state variable. Also note that this doesn't work. class String alias_method :old_init, :initialize def initialize(*args) super old_init(*args) end end class Object attr_reader :foo def initialize @foo = 'bar' super end end ''.foo # => nil Nor does this: class String attr_reader :foo def initialize @foo = 'bar' end end ''.instance_variables # => [] I'm beginning to think that this isn't actually possible.

  • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

    - by user141146
    Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? Here is sample code showing what I'm trying to do Thanks!!! - (void)send_an_email:(id)sender { NSString *subject_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Summary of %@", commercial_name]; NSString *body_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@<br /><br />", [self.dl email_message]]; // email_message returns the body of text that should be shipped as html. If email_message contains special characters, the text truncates at the special character NSString *full_string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"mailto:?to=&subject=%@&body=%@", [subject_string stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], [body_string stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[[NSURL alloc] initWithString:full_string]]; }

  • Django: accessing session variables from within a template?

    - by AP257
Hi all If I set a session variable in Django, like: request.session["name"] = "name" Is there a way I can access it from within a template, or do I have to retrieve it from within a view, and then pass it to a template? Asking because I have around 10 little session variables that I'd like to access within a template, and passing all 10 from the view to the template could get a bit messy. (I have to use session variables because it's a HttpResponseRedirect, but storing the variables in a database is overkill for my purposes.) So - any way to grab session variables directly within a template?

  • MATLAB fill area between lines

    - by dustynrobots
I'm trying to do something similar to what's outlined in this post: MATLAB, Filling in the area between two sets of data, lines in one figure but running into a roadblock. I'm trying to shade the area of a graph that represents the mean +/- standard deviation. The variable definitions are a bit complicated but it boils down to this code, and when plotted without shading, I get the screenshot below: x = linspace(0, 100, 101)'; mean = torqueRnormMean(:,1); meanPlusSTD = torqueRnormMean(:,1) + torqueRnormStd(:,1); meanMinusSTD = torqueRnormMean(:,1) - torqueRnormStd(:,1); plot(x, mean, 'k', 'LineWidth', 2) plot(x, meanPlusSTD, 'k--') plot(x, meanMinusSTD, 'k--') But when I try to implement shading just on the lower half of the graph (between mean and meanMinusSTD) by adding the code below, I get a plot that looks like this: fill( [x fliplr(x)], [mean fliplr(meanMinusSTD)], 'y', 'LineStyle','--'); It's obviously not shading the correct area of the graph, and new near-horizontal lines are being created close to 0 that are messing with the shading. Any thoughts? I'm stumped.

  • Read OAuth2.0 Signed_Request Facebook Registration C# MVC

    - by Josh
My question is very similar this but I guess I need to take it one step further. Facebook says "The data is passed to your application as a signed request. The signed_request parameter is a simple way to make sure that the data you're receiving is the actual data sent by Facebook." After a user has logged into my asp c# MVC site and clicked "Register", the redirect-url is http://site/account/register. At that point (the post to the account/register control), I would like to gather the user's information using the signed request so that I can register them with my site locally. I cannot figure out how to access the data facebook makes available. $data = json_decode(base64_url_decode($payload), true); What is the equivalent in C#? What type of variable/data is facebook passing in the post? And how do I access "$payload"?

  • When should I use static methods in a class and what are the benefits?

    - by NAVEED
I have concept of static variables but what are the benefits of static methods in a class. I have worked on some projects but I did not make a method static. Whenever I need to call a method of a class, I create an object of that class and call the desired method. Static variable in a method holds it's value even when method is executed but accessible only in its containing method but what is the best definition of static method? Is calling the static method without creating object of that class is the only benefit of static method? What is the accessible range for static method? What is the syntax to create and calling static method in php? Thanks

  • Nginx giving a lot of 502 errors

    - by Loki
    Since a while I have installed nginx and everything seemed to be working fine, recently I found out that about 20% of the time users are getting 502-errors. This is also noticable when Google tries to crawl my site in Webmaster Tools (from 10000 posts, approx. 2000 502 errors) At first I was thinking to disable nginx, but I'd really like to keep using it. I'm running it on a server with 2GB RAM and 4 Reserved CPU Cores. WHM/cPanel installed and Mod_Ruid2 enabled + DSO as a PHP Handler with APC caching installed. Is there anything I can change in the config, that can fix this? I have installed Nginx Admin in WHM and here is what's in the configuration editor screen: user nobody; worker_processes 4; error_log /var/log/nginx/error.log info; worker_rlimit_nofile 20480; events { worker_connections 10240; # increase for busier servers use epoll; # you should use epoll here for Linux kernels 2.6.x } http { server_name_in_redirect off; server_names_hash_max_size 10240; server_names_hash_bucket_size 1024; include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; server_tokens off; disable_symlinks if_not_owner; sendfile on; tcp_nopush on; tcp_nodelay on; keepalive_timeout 5; gzip on; gzip_vary on; gzip_disable "MSIE [1-6]\."; gzip_proxied any; gzip_http_version 1.1; gzip_min_length 1000; gzip_comp_level 6; gzip_buffers 16 8k; text/plain text/xml text/css application/x-javascript application/xml image/png image/x-icon image/gif image/jpeg application/xml+rss text/javascript application/atom+xml; ignore_invalid_headers on; client_header_timeout 3m; client_body_timeout 3m; send_timeout 3m; reset_timedout_connection on; connection_pool_size 256; client_header_buffer_size 256k; large_client_header_buffers 4 256k; client_max_body_size 200M; client_body_buffer_size 128k; request_pool_size 32k; output_buffers 4 32k; postpone_output 1460; proxy_temp_path /tmp/nginx_proxy/; client_body_in_file_only on; log_format bytes_log "$msec $bytes_sent ."; include "/etc/nginx/vhosts/*"; } I hope someone can help me out.
