  • Problem getting started with GeoDjango

    - by akv
    As soon as I add "from django.contrib.gis.db import models" instead of "from django.db import models", Django stops recognizing the app and gives this error: Error: App with label location could not be found. Are you sure your INSTALLED_APPS setting is correct? The error goes away as soon as I comment out "from django.contrib.gis.db import models"... I have added "django.contrib.gis" and the "location" app to the INSTALLED_APPS setting correctly. Any clues why this is happening? I am running using Django v1.1.1 final, on my windows laptop.

  • Function to hide sloppy phone numbers..

    - by Frank Malina
    I need to hide phone numbers (and maybe other contact details) in user generated content to protect my users from anonymous web. Input is very random, therefore I'd be looking to replace anything that looks like a phone number (e.g.: string of 3 or more numbers) with just dots, and also perhaps remove some exotic notations of e-mail addresses. What is the best way to do this? Nice and slick, reusable. Give away your secret regexes. Write in any language. Except perhaps COBOL :) function privacy($str){ // protect phone numbers // protect e-mail addresses // protect web addresses }

  • Installing PySide - OSX

    - by jeremynealbrown
    Anyone had success installing and using PySide on OSX? I am following the install instructions on the PySide site, though I'm running into issues building the API Extractor. I run cmake on the CMakeLists.txt file inside the api extractor dir and: This error is thrown- CMake Error at /Applications/CMake 2.8-0.app/Contents/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindBoost.cmake:894 (message): Unable to find the requested Boost libraries. Unable to find the Boost header files. Please set BOOST_ROOT to the root directory containing Boost or BOOST_INCLUDEDIR to the directory containing Boost's headers. Call Stack (most recent call first): CMakeLists.txt:5 (find_package) I am new to building source w/ cmake and I'm not event really sure what Boost is. Any light you might shed on the set up process would be great. Thanks

  • PyQt: Get the position of QGraphicsWidgets in a QGraphicsGridLayout

    - by Chris Phillips
    I have a fairly simple PyQt application in which I'm placing instances of a QGraphicsWidget in a QGraphicsGridLayout and want to connect the widgets with lines drawn with a QGraphicsPath. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, I always get (0, 0) back as the position for both the start and end widgets. I'm constructing the graph with a recursive function that adds widgets to the scene and layout. Once the recursive function is complete, the layout is added to a new widget, which is added to the scene to show everything. The edges are added to the scene as widgets are created. How do I get a non-zero position of any of the widgets in the grid layout?

  • Django snippet with logic

    Hi, is there a way to create a Django snippet that has logic? I think about something like contact template tag: {% contact_form %} with template: <form action="send_contact_form" method="POST">...</form> with logic: def send_contact_form(): ... I want to be able to use it anywhere in my projects. It should work only by specifying 1 template tag... Do you know what I mean? Is it possible? Thanks in advance, Etam.

  • Django - Threading in views without hanging the server

    - by bobthabuilda
    One of my applications in my Django project require each request/visitor to that instance to have their own thread. This might sound confusing, so I'll describe what I'm looking to accomplish in a case based scenario, with steps: User visits application Thread starts Until the thread finishes, that user's server instance hangs Once the thread completes, a response is delivered to the user Other visitors to the site should not be affected by any other users using the application How can I accomplish something like this? If possible, I'd like to find a lightweight solution.

  • Facebook App Wall Posting no longer showing in Facebook iPhone App

    - by David Hsu
    I use the GRAPH API with django for Facebook wall postings. Since yesterday, the wall posts only show on the Facebook web app but not the Facebook iPhone app. I tried Yelp, and their postings still show up. How can I debug this? Anyone notice this issue with their Facebook connect? Is this a Facebook algorithm issue. Code for Wall Post: graph = facebook.GraphAPI(access_token) attachment = {"name": name, "link": link, #"caption": "{*actor*} posted a new review", "description": desc, "picture": picture } graph.put_wall_post("",attachment)

  • Django models: Use multiple values as a key?

    - by Rosarch
    Here is a simple model: class TakingCourse(models.Model): course = models.ForeignKey(Course) term = models.ForeignKey(Term) Instead of Django creating a default primary key, I would like to use both course and term as the primary key - taken together, they uniquely identify a tuple. Is this allowed by Django? On a related note: I am trying to represent users taking courses in certain terms. Is there a better way to do this? class Course(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=200) requiredFor = models.ManyToManyField(RequirementSubSet, blank=True) offeringSchool = models.ForeignKey(School) def __unicode__(self): return "%s at %s" % (self.name, self.offeringSchool) class MyUser(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) takingReqSets = models.ManyToManyField(RequirementSet, blank=True) takingTerms = models.ManyToManyField(Term, blank=True) takingCourses = models.ManyToManyField(TakingCourse, blank=True) school = models.ForeignKey(School) class TakingCourse(models.Model): course = models.ForeignKey(Course) term = models.ForeignKey(Term) class Term(models.Model): school = models.ForeignKey(School) isPrimaryTerm = models.BooleanField()

  • Which Django 1.2.x multilingual application to use?

    - by mawimawi
    There are a couple of different applications for internationalized content in Django. As of now I only have used http://code.google.com/p/django-multilingual/ in my production environments, but I wonder if there are "better" solutions for my wishes. What my staff users need is the following: An object is being created by a staff user in any language (e.g. "de") This object should be displayed in the german version of the website. When a staff user translates the object into a different language (e.g. "fr"), then the page must be visible in the french version as well. If an object is not translated in the visitor's currently selected language (e.g. "en"), then calling the objects url shall raise a 404 Error (or even better a notice that the object is only available in the languages "de" and "fr", and the visitor might be able to select one of the languages) My staff users are working in the admin interface, so the multilingual application must support this as well. I don't really care whether the multilingual app uses a single table with many fields (like title_en, title_de, title_fr) or a foreign key to a related table (as it is implemented in django-multlingual). I only want it to have a good admin interface and no "default" language, because some content might be available just in "de", and some other just in "fr" and "en". And the most important issue of course is compatibility with Django 1.2.x. What are your experiences and preferred apps, and why?

  • Django model manager didn't work with related object when I do aggregated query

    - by Satoru.Logic
    Hi, all. I'm having trouble doing an aggregation query on a many-to-many related field. Let's begin with my models: class SortedTagManager(models.Manager): use_for_related_fields = True def get_query_set(self): orig_query_set = super(SortedTagManager, self).get_query_set() # FIXME `used` is wrongly counted return orig_query_set.distinct().annotate( used=models.Count('users')).order_by('-used') class Tag(models.Model): content = models.CharField(max_length=32, unique=True) creator = models.ForeignKey(User, related_name='tags_i_created') users = models.ManyToManyField(User, through='TaggedNote', related_name='tags_i_used') objects_sorted_by_used = SortedTagManager() class TaggedNote(models.Model): """Association table of both (Tag , Note) and (Tag, User)""" note = models.ForeignKey(Note) # Note is what's tagged in my app tag = models.ForeignKey(Tag) tagged_by = models.ForeignKey(User) class Meta: unique_together = (('note', 'tag'),) However, the value of the aggregated field used is only correct when the model is queried directly: for t in Tag.objects.all(): print t.used # this works correctly for t in user.tags_i_used.all(): print t.used #prints n^2 when it should give n Would you please tell me what's wrong with it? Thanks in advance.

  • SQLAlchemy DetachedInstanceError with regular attribute (not a relation)

    - by haridsv
    I just started using SQLAlchemy and get a DetachedInstanceError and can't find much information on this anywhere. I am using the instance outside a session, so it is natural that SQLAlchemy is unable to load any relations if they are not already loaded, however, the attribute I am accessing is not a relation, in fact this object has no relations at all. I found solutions such as eager loading, but I can't apply to this because this is not a relation. I even tried "touching" this attribute before closing the session, but it still doesn't prevent the exception. What could be causing this exception for a non-relational property even after it has been successfully accessed once before? Any help in debugging this issue is appreciated. I will meanwhile try to get a reproducible stand-alone scenario and update here. Update: This is the actual exception message with a few stacks: File "/home/hari/bin/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.6.1-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/attributes.py", line 159, in __get__ return self.impl.get(instance_state(instance), instance_dict(instance)) File "/home/hari/bin/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.6.1-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/attributes.py", line 377, in get value = callable_(passive=passive) File "/home/hari/bin/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.6.1-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/state.py", line 280, in __call__ self.manager.deferred_scalar_loader(self, toload) File "/home/hari/bin/lib/python2.6/site-packages/SQLAlchemy-0.6.1-py2.6.egg/sqlalchemy/orm/mapper.py", line 2323, in _load_scalar_attributes (state_str(state))) DetachedInstanceError: Instance <ReportingJob at 0xa41cd8c> is not bound to a Session; attribute refresh operation cannot proceed The partial model looks like this: metadata = MetaData() ModelBase = declarative_base(metadata=metadata) class ReportingJob(ModelBase): __tablename__ = 'reporting_job' job_id = Column(BigInteger, Sequence('job_id_sequence'), primary_key=True) client_id = Column(BigInteger, nullable=True) And the field client_id is what is causing this exception with a usage like the below: Query: jobs = session \ .query(ReportingJob) \ .filter(ReportingJob.job_id == job_id) \ .all() if jobs: # FIXME(Hari): Workaround for the attribute getting lazy-loaded. jobs[0].client_id return jobs[0] This is what triggers the exception later out of the session scope: msg = msg + ", client_id: %s" % job.client_id

  • is there a way to generate pdf containing non-ascii symbols with pisa from django template?

    - by mihailt
    Hi. i'm trying to generate a pdf from template using this snippet: def write_pdf(template_src, context_dict): template = get_template(template_src) context = Context(context_dict) html = template.render(context) result = StringIO.StringIO() pdf = pisa.pisaDocument(StringIO.StringIO(html.encode("UTF-8")), result) if not pdf.err: return http.HttpResponse(result.getvalue(), mimetype='application/pdf') except Exception('PDF error') but all non-latin symbols are not showing correctly, the template and view are saved using utf-8 encoding. i've tried saving view as ANSI and then to user unicode(html,"UTF-8"), but it throws TypeError. Also i thought that maybe it's because the default fonts somehow do not support utf-8 so according to pisa documentation i tried to set fontface in template body in style section. that still gave no results. Does any one have some ideas how to solve this issue?

  • Mapping functions of 2D numpy arrays

    - by perimosocordiae
    I have a function foo that takes a NxM numpy array as an argument and returns a scalar value. I have a AxNxM numpy array data, over which I'd like to map foo to give me a resultant numpy array of length A. Curently, I'm doing this: result = numpy.array([foo(x) for x in data]) It works, but it seems like I'm not taking advantage of the numpy magic (and speed). Is there a better way? I've looked at numpy.vectorize, and numpy.apply_along_axis, but neither works for a function of 2D arrays. EDIT: I'm doing boosted regression on 24x24 image patches, so my AxNxM is something like 1000x24x24. What I called foo above applies a Haar-like feature to a patch (so, not terribly computationally intensive).

  • Sorting and indexing into a list in a Django template?

    - by slypete
    How can you perform complex sorting on an object before passing it to the template? For example, here is my view: @login_required def overview(request): physicians = PhysicianGroup.objects.get(pk=physician_group).physicians for physician in physicians.all(): physician.service_patients.order_by('bed__room__unit', 'bed__room__order', 'bed__order') return render_to_response('hospitalists/overview.html', RequestContext(request, {'physicians': physicians,})) The physicians object is not ordered correctly in the template. Why not? Additionally, how do you index into a list inside the template? For example, (this doesn't work): {% for note_type in note_types %} <div><h3>{{ note_type }}</h3> {% for notes in note_sets.index(parent.forloop.counter0) %} #only want to display the notes of this note_type! {% for note in notes %} <p>{{ note }}</p> {% endfor %} {% endfor %} </div> {% endfor %}

  • pythonic way of selecing a random value that satisfies a certain predicate

    - by MK
    Suppose I have a list of elements and I want to randomly select an element from the list that satisfies a predicate. What is the pythonic way of doing this? I currently do a comprehension followed by a random.choice() but that is unnecessarily inefficient : intlist = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9] evenlist = [ i for i in intlist if i % 2 == 0 ] randomeven = random.choice(evenlist) Thanks!

  • PyGTK: Doubleclick on CellRenderer

    - by rami
    Hello! In my PyGTK application I currently use 'editable' to make cells editable. But since my cell contents sometimes are really really large I want to ask the user for changes in a new window when he doubleclicks on a cell. But I could not find out how to hook on double-clicks on specific cellrenderers - I don't want to edit the whole row and I also don't want to set this callback for the whole row, only for columns where too long content can occur. How can I do this with CellRendererText() or something similar. My currently cell-generating code is: cols[i] = gtk.TreeViewColumn(coltitle) cells[i] = gtk.CellRendererText() cols[i].pack_start(cells[i]) cols[i].add_attribute(cells[i], 'text', i) cols[i].set_sizing(gtk.TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXED) cols[i].set_fixed_width(100) cells[i].set_property('editable', True) cells[i].connect('edited', self.edited, (i, ls)) cols[i].set_resizable(True) mytreeview.append_column(cols[i]) Thanks!

  • How do I delete a foreign key in SQLAlchemy?

    - by Travis
    I'm using SQLAlchemy Migrate to keep track of database changes and I'm running into an issue with removing a foreign key. I have two tables, t_new is a new table, and t_exists is an existing table. I need to add t_new, then add a foreign key to t_exists. Then I need to be able to reverse the operation (which is where I'm having trouble). t_new = sa.Table("new", meta.metadata, sa.Column("new_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True) ) t_exists = sa.Table("exists", meta.metadata, sa.Column("exists_id", sa.types.Integer, primary_key=True), sa.Column( "new_id", sa.types.Integer, sa.ForeignKey("new.new_id", onupdate="CASCADE", ondelete="CASCADE"), nullable=False ) ) This works fine: t_new.create() t_exists.c.new_id.create() But this does not: t_exists.c.new_id.drop() t_new.drop() Trying to drop the foreign key column gives an error: 1025, "Error on rename of '.\my_db_name\#sql-1b0_2e6' to '.\my_db_name\exists' (errno: 150)" If I do this with raw SQL, i can remove the foreign key manually then remove the column, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove the foreign key with SQLAlchemy? How can I remove the foreign key, and then the column?
