  • Remove C# attribute of a property dynamically

    - by SysAdmin
    Hi, I have a class with a set of properties As given below. class ContactInfo { [ReadOnly(true)] [Category("Contact Info")] public string Mobile { get; set; } [Category("Contact Info")] public string Name{ get; set; } } The objects of this class is being assigned to a property grid, so that the users can update an existing contact. you can see that Mobile is marked as ReadOnly. But, when I want to add an entirely new Contact, I would want the users to be able to edit the contact Mobile also. For that I need to remove the Readonly property dynamically from the Type, before assigning the object to the property grid. Is it possible?

  • 'Static/Constant' business ojects

    - by UpTheCreek
    I don't quite know how to ask this question, so I'll phase it as an example: Imagine in an application you have a Country object. There are two properties of this object: Name, and a 'Bordering Countries' collection. More properties might be added later, but it will be the kind of information that would change very rarely (e.g. changes of country names/borders) Lets say this application needs to know about all of the countries in the world. Where would you store these object's state? How would you new them up? It seems silly to store all this state in the DB, since it won't change very often. One option might be to have an abstract 'country' base object, and have a class for each country inheriting from this with the details of each country. But this doesn't seem quite right to me. What is the proper way of dealing with these kinds of objects?

  • How to read the whole istream correctly?

    - by L.Lawliet
    Here is a simple code to print all characters of a txt file on screen: #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> using namespace std; int main() { int **i; int j,k; char a; ifstream test("test.txt", ios::binary); while((a=test.get())!=-1)//if I use "while(!test.eof())" here, how to avoid the output of the last character(-1) to std::cout, or any ostream objects? { putchar(a);//also change this to putchar(test.get()); } getchar(); } As I noted in the code, if I use "test.eof()" to judge the end of test.txt, I'll always get an extra blank at the end of the output. How to avoid it?

  • Is there a way to query if array field contains a certain value in Doctrine2?

    - by dpimka
    Starting out with Symfony2 + Doctrine. I have a table with User objects (fos_user), for which my schema contains a roles column of an 'array' type. Doctrine saves fields of this type by serializing them from php 'array' to 'longtext' (in mysql's case). So let's say I have the following users saved into DB: **User1**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM1) **User2**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM2) **User3**: array(ROLE_CUSTOM2) Now in my controller I want to select all users with ROLE_ADMIN set. Is there a way to write a DQL query which would directly return me User1 and User2? Or do I need to fetch all users to have Doctrine to unserialize roles column and then for each of them do in_array('ROLE_ADMIN', $user-getRoles())? I have searched the DQL part of the manual, but so far did not find anything similar to my needs...

  • How to extend abstract Entity class in RIA Services

    - by Calanus
    I want to add a bool variable and property to the base Entity class in my RIA services project so that it is available throughout all the entity objects but seem unable to work out how to do this. I know that adding properties to actual entities themselves is easy using .shared.cs and partial classes but adding such properties to the Entity class using similar methods doesn't work. For example, the following code doesn't work namespace System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client { public abstract partial class Entity { private bool auditRequired; public bool AuditRequired { get { return auditRequired; } set { auditRequired = value; } } } } All that happens is that the existing Entity class gets totally overriden rather than extending the Entity class. How do I extend the base Entity class so that functionality is available thoughout all derived entity classes?

  • Java and Different Types of Stacks

    - by Rarge
    Currently the only stack I know anything about is Vector, I normally use this in place of an array but I understand that there is other types of stacks and they all suit different jobs. The project I am currently working on requires me to be inserting objects in a certain position inside a stack, not always the front of the stack and I am under the impression that a Vector may not be the best class for this job. Could somebody please give me a brief description of the other types of stacks available to me with the Java language and their advantages and disadvantages? Are these names homogeneous? E.g. Are they only used in the Java language or are they used as general terms in Computer Science? Thank you

  • Returning a static array without using a class field

    - by Bart Friederichs
    I have the following base and derived (partial, for sake of brevity) classes: class Base { public abstract int[] someArray { get; } } class Derived : Base { private readonly static int[] _someArray = new int[] { 1,2,3,4 }; public override int[] someArray { get { return _someArray; } } } What I would like now, is put the new int[] { 1,2,3,4 } in the return part of the getter. But, that would create a new array every time the getter is called. Is it possible to directly return some kind of object, which stays the same for all objects of class Derived ? Something along the lines of (I know this is invalid C#): get { return (int[]) { 1, 2, 3, 4 }; }

  • Prevent ASP.NET from encoding strings on output

    - by Darkwater23
    How can I stop ASP.Net from encoding anchor tags in List Items when the page renders? I have a collection of objects. Each object has a link property. I did a foreach and tried to output the links in a BulletedList, but ASP encoded all the links. Any idea? Thanks! Here's the offending snippet of code. When the user picks a specialty, I use the SelectedIndexChange event to clear and add links to the BulletedList: if (SpecialtyList.SelectedIndex > 0) { PhysicianLinks.Items.Clear(); foreach (Physician doc in docs) { if (doc.Specialties.Contains(SpecialtyList.SelectedValue)) { PhysicianLinks.Items.Add(new ListItem("<a href=\"" + doc.Link + "\">" + doc.FullName + "</a>")); } } }

  • django: Selecting questions that was not asked

    - by Oleg Tarasenko
    Hi, I am creating small django application which holds some few questions (and answers for them) What I want to do is to show user random question, but only from those which was not solved by him yet. I wonder how to do this. For now, I defined user profile model this way: class UserProfile(models.Model): rank = models.IntegerField(default = 1) solvedQ = models.ManyToManyField(Question) user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) So solved problems are added this way: if user.is_authenticated(): profile = user.get_profile() profile.rank += 1 profile.solvedQ.add(Question.objects.get(id=id)) Now if the view must show random question, but not from already solved list... Is there a good way to intersect Questions and solvedQuestions.... so question is chosen from the unsolved list?

  • How do I use a Lambda expression to sort INTEGERS inside a object?

    - by punkouter
    I have a collection of objects and I know that I can sort by NAME (string type) by saying collEquipment.Sort((x, y) = string.Compare(x.ItemName, y.ItemName)); that WORKS. But I want to sort by a ID (integer type) and there is no such thing as Int32.Compare So how do I do this? This doesnt work collEquipment.Sort((x, y) = (x.ID < y.ID); //error I know the answer is going to be really simple. Lambda expressions confuse me.

  • javascript object access performance

    - by youdontmeanmuch
    In Javascript, when your getting a property of an object, is there a performance penalty to getting the whole object vs only getting a property of that object? Also Keep in mind I'm not talking about DOM access these are pure simple Javascript objects. For example: Is there some kind of performance difference between the following code: Assumed to be faster but not sure: var length = some.object[key].length; if(length === condition){ // Do something that doesnt need anything inside of some.object[key] } else{ var object = some.object[key]; // Do something that requires stuff inside of some.object[key] } I think this would be slower but not sure if it matters. var object = some.object[key]; if(object.length === condition){ // Do something that doesnt need anything inside of some.object[key] } else{ // Do something that requires stuff inside of some.object[key] }

  • Instantiating spring beans in dynamically created classes.

    - by Xetius
    I am dynamically creating classes which contain spring beans, however the beans are not getting instantiated or initialised, leaving them as null. How do I make sure that a dynamically created class creates all of its spring beans properly? This is how I am dynamically creating the class: Class ctransform; try { ctransform = Class.forName(strClassName); Method handleRequestMethod = findHandleRequestMethod(ctransform); if (handleRequestMethod != null) { return (Message<?>) handleRequestMethod.invoke(ctransform.newInstance(), message); } } This leaves all spring bean objects within ctransform (of type strClassName) as null.

  • Unexpected key-value behavior in a Core Data Context

    - by ????
    If I create an array of strings (via key-value coding) containing the names of a Managed Object entity's attributes which are stored in the App Delegate the first time, I get an array of NSStrings without any problems. If I subsequently make the same call later from the same entry point in code, that same collection becomes an array of NULL objects- even though nothing in the Core Data Context has changed. One unappealing work-around involves re-creating the string array every time, but I'm wondering if anyone has a guess as to what's happening behind the scenes. // Return an array of strings with the names of attributes the Activity entity - (NSArray *)activityAttributeNames { #pragma mark ALWAYS REFRESH THE ENTITY NAMES? //if (activityAttributeNames == nil) { // Create an entity pointer for Activity NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Activity" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; NSArray *entityAttributeArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithArray:[[entity attributesByName] allValues]]; // Extract the names of the attributes with Key-Value Coding activityAttributeNames = [entityAttributeArray valueForKeyPath:@"name"]; [entityAttributeArray release]; //} return activityAttributeNames; }

  • A general declaration for all inherited classes

    - by Soham
    Consider, there is a class called SuperClass from which, ClassA, ClassB, ClassC is derived. From each one of those derived Classes, there are further more two classes are derived each called ChildClassAA and ChildClassAB[AB stands for Bth Child class from the Ath Class.Lets not really pull our hair on this nomenclature]. Now, ideally, I want to declare a general type as a private member of another Class say IndependentClass which can be initialized during run time as either of the objects of type ClassAor ClassB or ClassC and even the derived classes like ClassAA or ClassAB. Is there a possible way to do it?

  • What is the best way to embed controls in a list/grid

    - by Brad
    I have a table of about 450 rows that I would like to display in a graphical list for users to view or modify the line items. The users would be selection options from comboboxes and selecting check boxes etc. I have found a listview class that extends the basic listview to allow for embeding objects but it seems kind of slugish when I load all the rows into it. I have used a datagridview in the past for comboboxes and checkboxes, but there was a lot of time invested in getting that up and running...not a big fav of mine. I am looking for sugestions how I can do this with minimal overhead. thanks c#, vs2008, .net 2.0, system.windows.forms

  • why don't more programming languages have builtin interfaces to the window manager?

    - by Naveen
    Programming is at the heart about automating tasks on a computer. Presumably those tasks would normally be done manually by a human. Humans use the computer through the keyboard, mouse, and interaction with the console or the window manager. But very few languages have built in functions that provide an interface to these basic computing objects. A notable exception is autohotkey, an open source language on windows, providing builtin functions that allow the following simple tasks: * Get Pixel Information * Get mouse position * Keyboard macros * Simulate key strokes * Simulate mouse click * Window management See examples on rosettacode. There have been various attempts on linux, many of which were stopped without explanation. One is the inactive tcl library: android. Search google code for android, lang:tcl

  • CoreData leak when reading a property

    - by Kamchatka
    Hello, I have the following code in a loop iterating over the different document objects: NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; [document primitiveValueForKey:@"data"]; [data writeToFile:filename atomically:NO]; [document.managedObjectContext refreshObject:document mergeChanges:NO]; [pool release]; The "data" property is a large blob (a 1MB image). And as I monitor the memory with the Allocation Instrument memory usage is increasing. I cannot find where the leak is coming from and how to remove it. Thanks!

  • Playing animations in sequence in objecive c

    - by Ohmnastrum
    I'm trying to play animations in sequence but i'm having issues playing them as a for loop iterates through the list of objects in an array. it will move through the array but it won't play each one it just plays the last... -(void) startGame { gramma.animationDuration = 0.5; // Repeat forever gramma.animationRepeatCount = 1; int r = arc4random() % 4; [colorChoices addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:r]]; int anInt = [[colorChoices objectAtIndex:0] integerValue]; NSLog(@"%d", anInt); for (int i = 0; i < colorChoices.count; i++) { [self StrikeFrog:[[colorChoices objectAtIndex:i] integerValue]]; //NSLog(@"%d", [[colorChoices objectAtIndex:i] integerValue]); sleep(1); } } it moves through the whole cycle really fast and sleep isn't doing anything to allow it to play each animation... any suggestions?

  • C++ -- How can we call "delete this; " in a const-member function?

    - by q0987
    Hello all, I saw the code snippet as follows: class UPNumber { public: UPNumber(); UPNumber(int initValue); ... // pseudo-destructor (a const member function, because // even const objects may be destroyed) void destroy() const { delete this; } // why this line is correct??? ... private: ~UPNumber(); }; First, I am sure that above class definition is correct. Here is my question, why we can define the function 'destroy' as above? The reason being asking is that why we can modify 'this' in a const-member function? Thank you

  • Treating a fat webservice in .net 3.5 c#

    - by Chris M
    I'm dealing with an obese 3rd party webservice that returns about 3mb of data for a simple search results, about 50% of the data in that response is junk. Would it make sense then to remap this data to my own result object and ditch the response so I'm storing 1-2 mb in memory for filtering and sorting rather than using the web-responses own object and using 2-4 or am I missing a point? So far I've been accessing the webservice from a separate project and using a new class to provide the interaction and to handle the persistence so my project looks like this |- Web (mvc2 proj) |- DAL (database/storage fluent-nhibernate) |- SVCGateway (interaction layer + webservice related models) |- Services -------------- |- Tests |- Specs I'm trying to make the application behave fast and I also need to store the result set temporarily in case a customer goes to view the product and wants to go back to the results. (Service returns only 500 of possible 14K results). So basically I'm looking for confirmation that I'm doing the right thing in pushing the results into my own objects or if I'm breaking some rule or even if there's a better way of handling it. Thanks

  • UML and Documenting Simple Diagrams

    - by Jason
    As part of a rewrite of an old Java application into C#, I'm writing an actual Software Design Specification. A problem I run into is when a method is too simple to bother with a Sequence Diagram (it doesn't interact with other objects). As an example, I have a simple POJO called Item, containing the following method: public String getCategoryKey() { StringBuffer value = new StringBuffer("s-"); value.append(this.getModelID()); value.append("-c"); return value; } The purpose and the algorithm for the method needs to be documented. However, a sequence diagram is overkill. How would others document it? (I take no credit/blame for the given method, it's very old code and the author "forgot" to put their name in the Javadoc).

  • How does Ruby's Enumerator object iterate externally over an internal iterator?

    - by Salman Paracha
    As per Ruby's documentation, the Enumerator object uses the each method (to enumerate) if no target method is provided to the to_enum or enum_for methods. Now, let's take the following monkey patch and its enumerator, as an example o = Object.new def o.each yield 1 yield 2 yield 3 end e = o.to_enum loop do puts e.next end Given that the Enumerator object uses the each method to answer when next is called, how do calls to the each method look like, every time next is called? Does the Enumeartor class pre-load all the contents of o.each and creates a local copy for enumeration? Or is there some sort of Ruby magic that hangs the operations at each yield statement until next is called on the enumeartor? If an internal copy is made, is it a deep copy? What about I/O objects that could be used for external enumeration? I'm using Ruby 1.9.2.

  • What is the best way to mock a 3rd party object in ruby?

    - by spinlock
    I'm writing a test app using the twitter gem and I'd like to write an integration test but I can't figure out how to mock the objects in the Twitter namespace. Here's the function that I want to test: def build_twitter(omniauth) Twitter.configure do |config| config.consumer_key = TWITTER_KEY config.consumer_secret = TWITTER_SECRET config.oauth_token = omniauth['credentials']['token'] config.oauth_token_secret = omniauth['credentials']['secret'] end client = Twitter::Client.new user = client.current_user self.name = user.name end and here's the rspec test that I'm trying to write: feature 'testing oauth' do before(:each) do @twitter = double("Twitter") @twitter.stub!(:configure).and_return true @client = double("Twitter::Client") @client.stub!(:current_user).and_return(@user) @user = double("Twitter::User") @user.stub!(:name).and_return("Tester") end scenario 'twitter' do visit root_path login_with_oauth page.should have_content("Pages#home") end end But, I'm getting this error: 1) testing oauth twitter Failure/Error: login_with_oauth Twitter::Error::Unauthorized: GET https://api.twitter.com/1/account/verify_credentials.json: 401: Invalid / expired Token # ./app/models/user.rb:40:in `build_twitter' # ./app/models/user.rb:16:in `build_authentication' # ./app/controllers/authentications_controller.rb:47:in `create' # ./spec/support/integration_spec_helper.rb:3:in `login_with_oauth' # ./spec/integration/twit_test.rb:16:in `block (2 levels) in <top (required)>' The mocks above are using rspec but I'm open to trying mocha too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Books/resources on authentication and authorization in layered applications

    - by Tommy Jakobsen
    I've been trying to find resources and guidelines for implementing authentication and authorization in multiple layered architectures (C#), but haven't found any "best practices" or patterns to use. And I figured, that there must be some patterns for this, as it is a pretty important area? The application that we're developing, is layered traditionally, having data layer (Entity Framework 4) repositories domain layer service layer (can be WCF, with data transfer objects) multiple clients consuming the WCF service (ASP.NET [MVC], Silverlight, WPF) and clients accessing a service layer directly (no WCF) Are there books/articles/blogs that dig deeply into this area? Primarily about authorization such as handling multiple roles and attributes attached to users). It doesn’t have to be specific for the .NET Framework, but it would be preferred.

  • How can I persist a large Perl object for re-use between runs?

    - by Alnitak
    I've got a large XML file, which takes over 40 seconds to parse with XML::Simple. I'd like to be able to cache the resulting parsed object so that on the next run I can just retrieve the parsed object and not reparse the whole file. I've looked at using Data::Dumper but the documentation is a bit lacking on how to store and retrieve its output from disk files. Other classes I've looked at (e.g. Cache::Cache appear designed for storage of many small objects, not a single large one. Can anyone recommend a module designed for this? EDIT. The XML file is ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc-index.xml On my Mac Pro benchmark figures for reading the entire file with XML::Simple vs Storable are: s/iter test1 test2 test1 47.8 -- -100% test2 0.148 32185% --
