• How to implement a log window in a web browser?

  Hi all, I'm interested in adding an HTML/web-browser based "log window" to my net-enabled device. Specifically, my device has a customized web server and an event log, and I'd like to be able to leave a web browser window open to e.g. http://my.devices.ip.address/system_log and have events show up as text in the web browser window as they happen. People could then use this as a quick way to monitor what the system is doing, without needing run any special software. My question is, what is the best way to implement this? I've tried the obvious approach -- just have my device's embedded web server hold the HTTP/TCP connection open indefinitely, and write the necessary text to the TCP socket when an event occurs -- but the problem with that is that most web browsers (e.g. Safari) don't display the web page until the server has closed the TCP connection has been closed, and so the result is that the log data never appears in the web browser, it just acts as if the page is taking forever to load. Is there some trick to make this work? I could implement it as a Java applet, but I'd much prefer something more lightweight/simple, either using only HTML or possibly HTML+JavaScript. Also I'd like to avoid having the web browser 'poll' the server, since that would either introduce too much latency (if the reload delay was large) or put load on the system (if the delay was small)

• How do I load PersistentDocuments into the same window

  I want to open NSPersistentDocuments and load them into the same window one at a time. I'm almost there but missing some steps. Hopefully someone can help me. I have a few saved documents on the hard drive. On launch my app opens to an untitled NSPersistentDocument and creates a separate NSWindowController. When I press the button to load file 1 off the hard drive the data appears in the fields but two things are wrong that I can see: 1) changing the data doesn't make the document dirty 2) choosing save updates the persistentstore (I know this because when I open the file again I see the changes) but I get an error: +entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'Book' Here's my code which is in the WindowController that was launched initially with the untitled document. This code isn't perfect. For example, I know I should processPendingChanges and save the current doc before I load the new one.   Scenario I want to parse a large CSV file and inserts data into the database, csv file has approximately 100K rows of data. Currently I am using fgetcsv to parse through the file row by row and insert data into Database and so right now I am hitting database for each line of data present in csv file so currently database hit count is 100K which is not good from performance point of view.   Hi all, still plugging away at teaching myself Perl. I'm trying to write some code that will count the lines of a file that contain double letters and then place parentheses around those double letters. Now what I've come up with will find the first ocurrance of double letters, but not any other ones. Assume that the input document is named input.txt. You must write the result of this Find/Replace operation to a file named output.txt. • IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

  I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?

• Upload file using jquery dialog not working

  i want to upload file using jquery dialog. I have created a partial view and showing that partial view in the dialog. The problem is, when I directly browse the partial view and upload a file, it works perfect. BUT when I put the partial view inside a jquery dialog, it submits the form, but don't submits the file. So i have null value. I really dont understand what is the difference here!!   Hello guys. I want to show my users PDF files. The reason why I use cgi to show the pdf is I want to track the clicks for the pdf, and cloak the real location of the saved pdf. I've been searching on the Internet and only found how to show save dialog to the users and creating a pdf, not show the files to the users. What I wanted for is show the users my pdf files, not creating or download the pdf.   I want to run a diagnostic report on our MS SQL 2008 database server. I am looping through all of the databases, and then for each database, I want to look at each table. But, when I go to look at each table (with tbl_cursor), it always picks up the tables in the database 'master'. • What is wrong with this Fortran '77 snippet?

  I've been tasked with maintaing some legacy fortran code, and I'm having trouble getting it to compile with gfortran. I've written a fair amount of Fortran 95, but this is my first experience with Fortran 77. This snippet of code is the problematic one: CHARACTER*22 IFILE, OFILE IFILE='TEST.IN' OFILE='TEST.OUT' OPEN(5,FILE=IFILE,STATUS='NEW') OPEN(6,FILE=OFILE,STATUS='NEW') common/pabcde/nfghi When I compile with gfortran file.FOR, all lines starting with the common statement are errors (e.g. Error: Unexpected COMMON statement at (1) for each following line until it hits the 25 error limit). I compiled with -Wall -pedantic, but fixing the warnings did not fix this problem. The crazy thing is that if I comment out all 4 lines starting with IF='TEST.IN', the program compiles and works as expected, but I must comment out all of them. Leaving any of them uncommented gives me the same errors starting with the common statement. If I comment out the common statement, I get the same errors, just starting on the following line. I am on OS X Leopard (not Snow Leopard) using gfortran. I've used this very system with gfortran extensively to write Fortran 95 programs, so in theory the compiler itself is sane. What the hell is going on with this code?

  I have a plain text file looking like this: "some text containing line breaks" I'm trying to talk excel 2004 (Mac, v.11.5) into opening this file correctly. I'd expect to see only one cell (A1) containing all of the above (without the quotes)... But alas, I can't make it happen, because Excel seems to insist on using the CR's as row delimiters, even if I set the text qualifier to double quote. I was sort of hoping that Excel would understand that those line breaks are part of the value - they are embedded in double quotes which should qualify them as part of the value. So my Excel sheet has 5 rows, which is not what I want. I also tried this Applescript to no avail: tell application "Microsoft Excel" activate open text file filename ¬ "Users:maximiliantyrtania:Desktop:linebreaks" data type delimited ¬ text qualifier text qualifier double quote ¬ field info {{1, text format}} ¬ origin Macintosh with tab end tell If I could tell Excel to use a row delimiter other than CR (or LF), well, I'd be a happy camper, but excel seems to allow the change of the field delimiter only, not the row delimiter.   i have a problem with a http post call in firefox. I know that when there are a cross origin, firefox first do a OPTIONS before the POST to know the access-control-allow headers. But, i'm trying to integrate this code with an existen application with uses jquery (i dont know if this is a problem), when the send(data) executes in this case, the browser (firefox) do the same, first do a OPTION request, but in this case dont receive the response of the server and puts this message in console: [18:48:13.529] OPTIONS http://localhost:8111/ [undefined 31ms] Undefined... the undefined is because dont receive the response, but the code is the same, i dont know why in this case the option dont receive the response, someone have an idea? i debug my server app and the OPTIONS arrive ok to the server, but it seems like the browser dont wait to the response. edit more later: ok i think that the problem is when i run with a simple html with a SCRIPT tag that invokes the method who do the request run ok, but in this app that dont receive the response, i have a form that do a onsubmit event, i think that the submit event returns very fast and the browser dont have time to get the OPTIONS request. edit more later later: WTF, i resolve the problem make the POST request to sync: this.xhr.open("POST", url, false); The submit reponse very quickly and can't wait to the OPTION response of the browser, any idea to this?

• CSS3 Border Radius property doesn't work in localhost?

  I'm having a very strange problem with css3 border radius property. My following CSS and html works fine with IE9 if i double click the file and open with the IE9 , however if the border property does not work in IE if i open the file through LOCALHOST (xampp insatlled on windows 7). The same file works fine on localhost with other browsers. • How do I see if an established socket is stuck on a server that's expecting input?

  I have a script that scans ports for open proxy servers. Problem is if it encounters a login program (specifically telnet) then it hangs there forever since it doesn't know what to do and eventually the server closes the connection. The simple solution would be to create a bunch of cases. If telnet, do this. If SSH, do that. If something else, blah blah blah. I'd like an umbrella solution since the script is not a high priority for me. The script, as it is now, is available at http://parkrrr.net/socks/scan.phps On a small scale (the page maybe averages 15 hits/day) it's fine but on a larger scale I'd be worried about a lot of open zombie sockets. Swapping the !$strpos doesn't work since servers can return more information than what you requested (headers, ads, etc). Only accepting a fixed number of bytes (as opposed to appending until EOF, which it does now) from the $fgets also does not seem to work. I am sure this is where it gets stuck: while (!feof($fp)) { $data.=fgets($fp,512); } But what can I do? Any other suggestions/warnings would also be welcomed.
