As I just logged into YouTube the sleek look is no longer there. I am aware that you can usually turn such features on or off... How do I go about turning the sleek look that was "default" on?
This one is driving me nuts, I'm trying to change the default program for sln files but for some reason the "always use the selected version" is always greyed out. How do I get that little grey box ungrey.
Where have I gone wrong, and how do I fix this.
I frequently need to open a new tab in the same directory as my current tab to do something else while my current tab is occupied by a long running process. However, by default when you create a new tab, Terminal.app starts at ~/. Any idea how to make it auto jump?
Is there a way to auto imply the function key being pressed. Or swap it's use.
I basically want F1 to be for F1 and F2 to be for F2 by default. If I want to lighten or darken my screen then I will press the function key (fn).
I'm in Windows using boot camp by the way.
I'm a beginner at using OpenWRT but I'm loving it already. Everything is running fine (internet, wifi) on all clients except one thing: the computers running in my LAN don't see each other. Pings to them or between them gives "destination host unreachable". This happens when using either the machine's IP's or their assigned hostnames.
Running Backfire 10.03.1 - default settings everywhere except of course for the specific ISP stuff in the WAN.
What's going on?
Some time back I changed the default libraries icon on Taskbar to "Computer" icon. I had to format the PC and now I looks like the I forgot the procedure to change the icon.
I tried changing the Libraries icon in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows.
That did not change the icon on the taskbar.
What should I be doing to change the icon?
My PC at work is connected to 2 networks;
LAN: local corporate network for remote desktop access and very slow internet connection
WAN: wireless faster internet browsing
Is there a way to setup the default/preferred network adapter for the internet browsing?
I have a problem with hostname lookups on my OSX computer. According to Apple's HK3473 document it says for v10.6:
Host names that contain only one label in addition to local, for example "My-Computer.local", are resolved using Multicast DNS (Bonjour) by default. Host names that contain two or more labels in addition to local, for example "server.domain.local", are resolved using a DNS server by default.
Which is not true as my testing. If I try to open a connection on my local computer to a remote port:
telnet example.domain.local 22
then it will lookup the IP address with multicast DNS next to the A and AAAA lookups. This causes a two seconds lookup timeout on every lookup. Which is a lot!
When I try with IPv4 only then it won't use the multicast queries to fetch the remote address just the simple A queries.
telnet -4 example.domain.local 22
When I try with IPv6 only:
telnet -6 example.domain.local 22
then it will lookup with multicast DNS and AAAA again, and the 2 seconds timeout delay occurs again.
I've tried to create a resolver entry to my /etc/resolver/domain.local, and /etc/resolver/local.1, but none of them was working.
Is there any way to disable this multicast lookups for the "two or more label addition to local" domains, or simply disable it for the selected subdomain (domain.local)?
Thank you!
Update #1
Thanks @mralexgray for the scutil --dns command, now I can see my domain in the list, but it's late in the order:

Maybe it would work if I could move the resolver #8 to the position #2.
Update #2
No probably won't work because the local DNS server on 192.168.1.1 answering for domain.local requests and it's before the mDNS (resolver #2).
Update #3
I could decrease the mDNS timeout in /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/IPMonitor.bundle/Contents/Info.plist file, which speeds up the lookups a little, but this is not the solution.
I recently changed from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 10.04 as my default OS.
I formatted the hdd with windows 7 on it, but it still shows the boot loader at startup.
How do I remove the windows 7 bootloader?

How will I find out my iseries server name? I checked through "nslookup" it gives one ip address & I tried to connect TN5250 session to cconnect but could not connect.
from dos command line
c:\nslookup
default server : unknown
ip address : 192.168.50.119
Then I tried ping with this IP address - it's giving reply from the above IP address
Then I have given this id in TN5250 session, but says can not create a connection to the AS/400.
I'm using the default configuration of postfix on Ubuntu 9.04, and I've been trying to configure Gmail to send email through my server.
I'm looking for a simple configuration for 10-15 users (like using a password file), but all the tutorials I
have found have been too extensive and seem very enterprise-oriented.
I just need to configure postfix with AUTH/TLS that is compatible with gmail.
I am working on a project that includes making some ASCII art, except it isn't true ASCII art since I am using a far amount of Windows Alt codes to make it. Anyways, I wanted to make sure that as I am working on it, that it looks exactly how it will in a windows command prompt terminal session. So since command prompt defaults to the Terminal raster font, I figured I would use that. But I quickly noticed that when I use the Terminal typeface in a text editor, it will not render ASCII codes, either at all (as is the case most of the time) or incorrectly. Now, I understand if a font just doesn't support non-ASCII characters, but what I don't get is how the characters do show up correctly in command prompt when they don't in a text editor. I checked the output of the 'chcp' and it was set to 437 by default, which is what I need. Well, either that or 850 but preferably 437 since they got rid of some of the graphics in 437 and replaced them with other Latin characters. Command prompt terminal settings show I am using the Terminal raster font with a 8x12 glyph size. So I try using size 12 in the text editor but no good, even after switching the text encoding to either MS-DOS OEM-US (supposedly an alternative name for CP437) or UTF-8. I just don't get how I am not getting the characters to show up.
Also, if it helps, the art I am making is basically modified screen shots from a game I play called Dwarf Fortress that uses characters from the Terminal/Curses typeset, or at least that is how it is reported in the forums by those who make graphics sets to replace the default character set. However, the game doesn't actually use the system's Terminal font. The game's data files includes a bitmap image that is a grid of all the characters the game uses. So it uses this bitmap to render graphics instead of the actual font file. And I basically want to get a text editor to make it so if I type up some ASCII art to look like a screenshot from Dwarf Fortress, that it will actually look like Dwarf Fortress other than the lack of color. Any help?
What I need is to create a couple of websites, each one with only one user, which is allowed to send mails from any address @ his own domain.
Example:
Site foo.com would have an user foo, which can send mails from [email protected].
Currently, when the user logins to Usermin, the default 'from' field is example-dns.net (editable)
I want it to show an editable field for the user part, and @foo.com (non editable)
So how can I do this? Is there some way to automate this?

I'm using FTP 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2.
When I upload a file and it is partially uploaded I'm able to move it before it has completed. Is there a way to stop this?
I see an option under Advanced settings-Behaviour-File Handling-Allow reading files while uploading but this doesn't seem to do the trick. I guess it's write access that I need to stop.
It seemed to have this functionality by default on IIS6.

Is anyone able to shed any light on this problem?
I have a webservers that send out emails to a sendmail relay server as a batch job. The emails need to be accepted by the relay sendmail server as fast as possible, however, they do not need to go out (be relayed) very quickly.
I am seeing a couple timeouts once and a while from the webserver trying to connect to the relay server. The load currently is about 30 emails a second for a couple minutes.
There are quite a few tuning options for sendmail in the sendmail tuning guide.
What I am focusing on now is the Delivery Mode:
Delivery Mode
There are a number of delivery modes
that sendmail can operate in, set by
the DeliveryMode ( d) configuration
option. These modes specify how
quickly mail will be delivered. Legal
modes are:
i deliver interactively
(synchronously) b deliver in
background (asynchronously) q queue
only (don't deliver) d defer delivery
attempts (don't deliver) There are
tradeoffs. Mode i gives the sender the
quickest feedback, but may slow down
some mailers and is hardly ever
necessary. Mode b delivers promptly
but can cause large numbers of
processes if you have a mailer that
takes a long time to deliver a
message. Mode q minimizes the load on
your machine, but means that delivery
may be delayed for up to the queue
interval. Mode d is identical to mode
q except that it also prevents lookups
in maps including the -D flag from
working during the initial queue
phase; it is intended for ``dial on
demand'' sites where DNS lookups might
cost real money. Some simple error
messages (e.g., host unknown during
the SMTP protocol) will be delayed
using this mode. Mode b is the usual
default. If you run in mode q (queue
only), d (defer), or b (deliver in
background) sendmail will not expand
aliases and follow .forward files upon
initial receipt of the mail. This
speeds up the response to RCPT
commands. Mode i should not be used by
the SMTP server.
I currently have the CentOS default modes:
Sendmail.cf:
DeliveryMode=background
Submit.cf:
DeliveryMode=i
Is sendmail.cf/mc for outgoing email from relay (to the intertubes) and sumbit.cf/mc for incoming eamil (from my webservers).
Would it make sense to change the outgoing delivery mode to queue? If I did, what would the outbound email flow behave like?
If this is the right thing to do, can anyone show me example mc configurations for this change? If it isn't, what recommendations are there for these constraints?
I am a beginner in adobe premiere pro, trying to make AMV. And I've come up with an output file of 900Mb, and its only a 4 minute AMV. I've only followed the default settings in saving, how do I save it in such a way that it will be reduced to a friendly size, maybe 20-30 mb?
I'm trying to create a way of opening a set of project files in multiple apps, using Alfred.
I know about the File Group extension in the powerpack (I have this), but as far as I can see, there's a limitation in that it only opens the files with the default app.
My usage case is this:
Open a .html file with Chrome
Open the same .html file with MacVim
Anyone know a way around this? Maybe an applescript is more what I'd need?
I use Greenshot for screenshots, and it's been nagging about some other software tool using the same hotkey. I started receiving this warning message about two days ago. It shows up each time I reboot and log on to Windows.
The hotkey(s) "Ctrl + Shift + PrintScreen" could not be registered.
This problem is probably caused by another tool claiming usage of the
same hotkey(s)! You could either change your hotkey settings or
deactivate/change the software making use of the hotkey(s).
What's this all about? The only software I recently installed is
CPU-Z
Core Temp
Speed Fan
HD Tune
Epson Print CD
NetStress
What I would like to know is how to find out what other tool is causing this conflict? Do I really have to uninstall each program, one by one, until there is no conflict anymore?
I see no option for customizing any hotkeys in CPU-Z, and according to docs there are only a few keyboard shortcuts. These are F5 through F9, but they are no hotkeys. There is nothing in Core Temp, and from what I can see... nothing in Speed Fan. Is any of these programs known to use Ctrl + Shift + PrintScreen hotkey for screenshots?
I am actually suspecting the Dropbox client. I think I saw a warning recently coming from Dropbox program, something to do with hotkeys or keyboard shortcuts. I see that it has an option for sharing screenshots under Preferences menu, but I see no option for hotkeys. Core Temp actually also has an option for taking screenshots (F9) but it's just that - a keyboard shortcut, not a hotkey. And again, there's no option actually for changing this setting in Options/Settings menu.
How do you resolve this type of conflicts? Are there any general methods you can use to pinpoint the second conflicting software? Like... is there some Windows registry key that holds the hotkeys? Or is it just down to mere luck and trial and error?
Addendum
I forgot to mention, when I do use the Ctrl + Shift + PrintScreen hotkey, what happens is that the Greenshot context menu shows up, asking me where I want to save the screenshot.
So it appears to be working. But I am still getting the darn warning every time I reboot and log on to Windows?! I actually tried changing the key bindings in Greenshot preferences, but after a reboot it seems to have returned back to the settings I had previously.
Update
I can't see any hotkey conflicts in the Widnows Hotkey Explorer. The aforementioned hotkey is reserved by Greenshot, and I don't see any other program using the same hotkey binding.
But when I went into Greenshot preferences, this is what I discovered.
As you can see it's the Greenshot itself that uses the same hotkey twice! I guess that's why no other program was listed above as using this hotkey. But how can Greenshot be so stupid to use the same hotkey more than once? I didn't do this! It's not my fault... I'm not that stupid.
This is what it's set to right now:
Capture full screen: Ctrl + Skift + Prntscrn
Capture window: Alt + Prntscrn
Capture region: Ctrl + Prntscrn
Capture last region: Skift + Prntscrn
Capture Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Skift + Prntscrn
And this is my preferred setting:
Capture full screen: Prntscrn
Capture window: Alt + Prntscrn
Capture region: Ctrl + Prntscrn
Capture last region:
Capture Internet Explorer:
I don't use any hotkey for "last region" and IE. But when I set this to my liking, as listed here, Greenshot gives me the same warning message, even as I tab through the hotkey entry fields. Sometimes it even gives me the warning when I just click Cancel button. This is really crazy!
On the side note...
You might have noticed that I have "update check" set to 0 (zero). This is because, in my experience, Greenshot changes all or only some of my preferences back to default settings whenever it automatically updates to a new version. So I opted to stay off updates to get rid of the problem. It has done so for the past three updates or so. I hoped to receive a new update that would fix the issue, but I think it still reverts back to default settings after each update to a new version, including setting default hotkeys.
Update 2
I'll give you just one example of how Greenshot behaves. This is the dialog I have in front of me right now.
As you can see, I have removed the last two hotkeys and changed the first one to my own liking. While I was clicking in the fields and removing the two hotkeys I was getting the warning message.
So let's say I click in the "capture last region" field. Then I get this:
Note that none of the entries include "Ctrl + Shift + PrintScreen" that it's warning about.
Now I will change all the hotkeys so I get something like this:
So now I'm using QWERTY letters for binding, like Ctrl+Alt+Q, Ctrl+Alt+W and so on. As far as I know no Windows program is using these. While I was clicking through the different fields it was giving me the warning. Now when I try to click OK to save the changes, it once again gives me a warning about "ctrl + shift + printscreen".
Update 3
After setting the above key bindings (QWERTY) and saving changes, and then rebooting, the conflict seems to have been resolved. I was then able to set following key bindings.
Capture full screen: Prntscrn
Capture window: Alt + Prntscrn
Capture region: Ctrl + Prntscrn
I was not prompted with the warning message this time. Perhaps changing key binding required a system reboot? Sounds far fetched but that appears to be the case. I'm still not sure what caused this conflict, but I know for sure that it started after installing aforementioned programs. It might just have to do with Greenshot itself, and not some other program.
Like I said, I know from experience that Greenshot likes to mess with users' settings after each update. I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually silently updated, even though I have specified not to check for updates, then it changed the key bindings back to defaults and caused a conflict with the hotkeys that were registered with the operating system previously. I rarely reboot the system, so that could have added to the conflict.
Next time if I see this I will run Hotkey Explorer immediately and see if there is another program causing the conflict.
Preface
I'm building a virtualization environment with Ubuntu 14.04 and LXC. I don't want to write my own template since the upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04 has shown that backwards compatibility is not guaranteed.
Therefore I'm deploying my virtual machines via lxc-create, using the default Ubuntu template. The DNS for the servers is provided by Amazon Route 53, so no local DNS server is needed.
I also use Puppet to configure my servers, so I want to keep the manual effort on the deployment minimal.
Now, the default Ubuntu template assigns IP addresses via DHCP. Therefore, I need a local DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the nodes, so I can SSH into them and get Puppet running. Since Puppet requires a proper DNS setup, assigning temporary IP addresses is not an option, the client needs to get the right hostname and IP address from the start.
Question
What DHCP server do I use and how do I get it to assign the IP address based only on the host-name DHCP option by performing a DNS lookup on that very host name?
What I've tried
I tried to make it work using the ISC DHCP server, however, the manual clearly states:
Please be aware that only the dhcp-client-identifier option and the hardware address can be used to match a host declaration, or the host-identifier option parameter for DHCPv6 servers. For example, it is not possible to match a host declaration to a host-name option. This is because the host-name option cannot be guaranteed to be unique for any given client, whereas both the hardware address and dhcp-client-identifier option are at least theoretically guaranteed to be unique to a given client.
I also tried to create a class that matches the hostname like this:
class "my-client-name" {
match if option host-name = "my-client-name";
fixed-address my-client-name.my-domain.com;
}
Unfortunately the fixed-address option is not allowed in class statements. I can replace it with a 1-size pool, which works as expected:
subnet 10.103.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 {
option routers 10.103.1.1;
class "my-client-name" {
match if option host-name = "my-client-name";
}
pool {
allow members of "my-client-name";
range 10.103.1.2 10.103.1.2;
}
}
However, this would require me to administer the IP addresses in two places (Amazon Route53 and the DHCP server), which I would prefer not to do.
About security
Since this is only used in the bootstrapping phase on an internal network and is then replaced by a static network configuration by Puppet, this shouldn't be an issue from a security standpoint. I am, however, aware that the virtual machine bootstraps with "ubuntu:ubuntu" credentials, which I intend to fix once this is running.

I would like to grant users of the wheel group (other sysadmins) su access without being asked for password.
I know how to do it with pam in linux, but the question now is for FreeBSD. I am not familiar with the syntax for FreeBSD's PAM subsystem. What shall I enter in /etc/pam.d/su instead of the default:
auth sufficient pam_rootok.so no_warn
auth sufficient pam_self.so no_warn
auth requisite pam_group.so no_warn group=wheel root_only fail_safe ruser
auth include system
# account
account include system
# session
session required pam_permit.so
