• Why is HttpClient's GetStringAsync is unbelivable slow?

  I have a Windows Phone 8 project where I've taken to use the PCL (Portable Class Library) project too since I'm going to build a Win8 app to. However, while calling my api (in Azure) my HttpClient's GetStringAsync is so slow. I threw in a couple of debugs with datetime and GetStringAsync took like 14 seconds! And sometimes it takes longer. What I'm doing is retrieving simple JSON from my Azure API site. My Android client has no problem with getting that same data in a split second... so is there something I'm missing? The setup is pretty straight forward: HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Add(new MediaTypeWithQualityHeaderValue("application/json")); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Add("X-Token", "something"); string responseJSON = await client.GetStringAsync("url"); I've places the debug times right before and after the await there, in between it is 14 seconds! Does someone know why?

• Android: Conversion to Dalvik format failed: Unable to execute dex: null

  I'm trying to use the SmugFig SmugMug API on Android. It was designed for J2SE I would imagine, so I'm not sure it will even work on Android, but I figured it was worth trying as opposed to trying to create my own API. When I load the project though, I get the following error: Conversion to Dalvik format failed: Unable to execute dex: null It doesn't say what package it fails on, just "Android Packaging Problem", but it did not do this before I added SmugFig and it's dependency JARS to the build path. Where should I look? Or does this mainly me that it just won't work with those libraries?

  I'm using MailChimp's API to subscribe email to a list. • Adding a self-signed certificate to iphone Simulator?

  I have a self-signed certificate at the endpoint of my API. I'm trying to test some things using the simulator but am getting "untrusted server certificate". I have tried to use safari on the simulator to download the .crt file, but that doesn't seem to work. Where does iPhone Simulator get its keychain from? How can I add a trusted certificate so my application will work? UPDATE I got it to work by creating a CA and then adding a CA certificate using the iPhone provisioning tool. Then I was able to have a certificate signed by that CA certificate on the API server and the NSConnection just worked. I was not able to get it to work using a self-signed certificate for some reason. I need to re-attempt this using the provisioning software. My real question is how do I get this to work on the simulator? I would think that the simulator uses the keychain of the actual computer.

• How can I programmatically unlock a Adobe DRM Epub?

  I am writing an ebook reader that supports the epub format (i have the parsing of open epub working), but I would like to support the reading of Adobe DRM locked epubs. I have read threw the adobe digital editions site (faq and support pages) and googled, but alas as yet I have not found any docs on the api to: authorise the pc using the users adobe id creds and decrypt the epub for parsing by my app. Does anyone have any pointers to docs or apis? I would prefer apis in Python, C++. But any api is better than nothing ;-) UPDATE1: i am writing my app on Desktops (linux, mac and windows)

  I am having difficulties to use my custom IComparer for my SortedDictionary<. The goal is to put email addresses in a specific format ([email protected]) as the key, and sort by last name. • PreferenceActivity and theme not applying

  Hi all I have set the theme in the manifest file like this: android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light" But I have a problem in the Preferences Activity, in the main preferences the theme shows ok, but if I get to a sub preference, the theme gets messy, it is not white as it should, it is all dark, and the font is black so you can't see much, and when I start clicking on any items they will get sometimes white as they should but revert to black soon after. This is only happens on 2.1, in both the real device and emulator. Tested on the emulator running 1.6 and it was working correctly. • wpf treeview ObjectDataProvider update - how?

  I've been having trouble updating the data bindings which relates to a treeview. The dataset is mapped onto the ObjectDataProvider, passed through two data templates. Now I've tried updating the ObjectDataProvider with two calls, hoping that they would trigger the CreateTheDataSet() method, and rebuild the tree. • grails run-war connects to mysql but grails run-war doesn't

  Hi, I have a unexpected problem. I had create a war with grails war. Then I had deployed in Tomcat. For my surprise the crud works fine but I don't know what persistence is using. So I did this test: Compare grails prod run-app with grails prod run-war. The first works fine, and does conect with the mysql database. The other don't. • Autonumber with Entity Framework

  I want to loop through a collection of objects and add them all to a table. The destination table has an auto-increment field. If I add a single object there is no problem. If I add two objects both with the primary key of zero, the entity framework fails. I can manually specify primary keys but the whole point of trying the EF was to make life easier not more complicated. • access violation in wglMakeCurrent

  Sometimes in my OpenGL application I get an access violation in the following API call: wglMakeCurrent(NULL, NULL); The application only has one single thread, and I've checked that before that call, both the DC and HGLRC that are currently used are correct and valid. There are three different windows with OpenGL content, and they're all redrawn on WM_PAINT messages and if a refresh is required due to user interaction (e.g., picking an object). Also this access violation happens on different machines with different graphic cards, so I don't think it's a driver issue. What could make this API call crash? What should I investigate in the app code to find out where/why this happens? I'm really lost here since I've checked everything I could think of already. I hope someone can give me hints/ideas on what more to check.

  I'm trying to upload some pictures using php cURL on a classified ad website .I think that I set all the parameters properly but I see that there is a kind of redirect after I post the picture . The files we have got from client are: xxx.crl xxx.kdb xxx.rdb xxx.sth xxx.tab They said client channel table in that. I am trying to connect using the below code. And they are saying I don't need to specify the Queue Manager it will be defined in the Client Channel Table. But one thing is they have done while created key with the using "user1". • Crystal Reports Images not loading in ASP.NET MVC

  I'm using Crystal Reports in a Webform inside of an MVC application. Images in the reports are not being displayed, however, on both the ASP.NET Development Server and IIS 7 (on Win7x64). I know from a number of other questions similar to this that the CrystalImageHandler HTTP Handler is responsible for rendering the image, but I've tried all of the usual solutions to no avail. • Connecting git to github on windows 7 without bash

  I'm setting up git on my new Windows 7 machine and I'm hitting a roadblock when it comes to getting github to acknowledge my ssh key. I am doing things a little different from the standard script in that I would rather not use cygwin and prefer to use my powershell prompt. The following is what I did: I installed msysgit (portable). I went to C:\program files\git\bin and used ssh-keygen to generate a public/private ssh keypair which I put in c:\Temp I then created a directory named .ssh\ in c:\Users\myusername\ (on windows 7) I moved both the files generated by the ssh-keygen (id_rsa and id_rsa.pub) into the .ssh directory I went to my account on github, created a new public key, copy-pasted the contents of id_rsa.pub into it and saved I now go to my powershell prompt, set-alias git 'C:\program files\git\bin\git.exe' I try to now do a clone [email protected]:togakangaroo/ps-profile.git which rejects my authentication: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Past experience says that this means git is not recognizing my key. What steps am I missing? I have a feeling that I need to somehow configure git so that it knows where my ssh keys are (though it would seem it should look there automatically) but I don't know how to do that. Another possible clue is that when I try to run git config --global user.name "George Mauer" I get an error fatal: $HOME not set I did however set up a HOME environment user variable with the value %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%
