  Hi, I have a SSRS report and using PL/SQL for the dataset creation. My report needs two tables 1 one gives detailed view.(dataset 1) 2 one below that gives a summary table (data should come from the calculations based on the data in 1 table) I am using a temporary table for the dataset one. What are the methods to get calculated result for dataset 2. I wrote 2 procedures for each. since first table is a temporary one i am not getting result for second dataset. Wht can be the options. • Stored Procedures In Source Control - Automate Build/Deployment Process

  My company provides a large .NET service-oriented solution. The services layer interact with a T-SQL back-end consisting of hundreds of tables and stored procedures. Our C# code is in version-control (SVN) but our stored procedures and schema are not. After much lobbying of expedient upper-management, I was allowed to review our (non-existent) build/deployment process to accomplish the following goals: Place schema and stored procedures under source-control. Automate the build/deployment process. I would like to proceed per the accepted answer's strategy in this post but have additional questions: I would like to use Hudson as my build server. Is this a reasonable choice for a C#/SQL solution? What better alternatives should I explore? Assuming I have all triggers, stored-procedures, schema, etc... under source control, and that they are scripted to individual files, how do I generate a build script which will take into account dependencies/references between these items? (SQL Server does this automatically, but it generates one giant script) What does the workflow of performing an update at the client look like? i.e. I have to keep existing table data. How do I roll-back schema changes? I am the only programmer. Several other pseudo-technical staff like to make changes directly inside SQL Management Studio. Is it realistic to expect others to adhere to this solution -- how can I enforce this? Thank you in advance for your help.

• Real-Time Data Streaming to Multiple Clients

  Hi all, I would like to write an application which will stream data at 2400 baud over the internet from a server to multiple clients. The data will be the same for each client, and it would probably be fine to send it as a UDP stream, since exact data accuracy is not a 100% necessity, as there are checksums built-in to the data format and the data will be sent repeatedly on a loop. What is the best way to do this? I would want to write the server in C, but I don't know how to best multicast this data to the different clients that would be receiving it all over the country. I'm sure this seems like a pretty draconian way to go about my project, as opposed to just using some sort of fetch command, but I'd prefer to do it this way if possible.

• What's the best version control/QA workflow for a legacy system?

  I am struggling to find a good balance with our development and testing process. We use Git right now, and I am convinced that ReinH's Git Workflow For Agile Teams is not just great for capital-A Agile, but for pretty much any team on DVCS. That's what I've tried to implement but it's just not catching. We have a large legacy system with a complex environment, hundreds of outstanding and undiscovered defects, and no real good way to set up a test environment with realistic data. It's also hard to release updates without disrupting users. Most of all, it's hard to do thorough QA with this process... and we need thorough testing with this legacy system. I feel like we can't really pull off anything as slick as the Git workflow outlined in the link. What's the way to do it?

• Iphone UIScrollView and multiple visible images

  Hi! Im trying to implement a UIScrollView including multiple images, using paginate. The problem is that I want more then one page to be visible in the UIScrollView, but only one page should be selected. I found several solutions in which you handle touch down/up (touchesBegan and touchesEnded) myself and scrollRectToVisible, but I want to avoid this if possible. A sample solution for that can be found at: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=634462 I dont get why its so easy if you only need to display one page at a time in the UIScrollView , but seems really hard if you want to show more pages.   When I am working on a PHP file for example the default filetype is php. This makes sense, however when that PHP file has HTML as well the filetype is still only php. For some plugins that means that I get the PHP functionality for that plugin, but miss out on the HTML functionality. A more specific situation where this happens is with my snippet plugin. I get php snippets and not html snippets when I am editing a php file. Possible solutions to this (which I obviously don't like, hence my posting this question) are: add a map to toggle between different filetypes when I am editing different sections of the file. update my php snippets file to include the html snippets as well (while this would work for the example above, it doesn't solve the fundamental problem). So, Is there a way to edit a file using multiple filetypes at the same time in vim?

There are multiple slideshows which work fine but I'd like each on the have their own previous and next. Because these are blog posts it is difficult to sign unique IDs or classes.   I have a project under which various distributed applications are placed; the whole project is under a single dll. Hence, if any issue occurs we need to re-build the whole application to run or import to our server. I am looking for the best possible way to make the build process faster and also bit worried about the size of the DLL. Is it a good way to have separate dll for all the modules or split the application in multiple projects??? Can, anyone suggest the best way or example to deal with this situation.   Hi, I have a flex datagrid with 3 columns. The first column contains the image name(unique key). The other two columns have username and size details. I want to split the username into lastname, firstname, address and some other stuff. Can we have multiple rows in the grid for one image? Tried multi-line, it works but we need to keep adding spaces and its cumbersome. Since each row in the flex datagrid is represented by one index in the XMLList which is enumerated, is there a way to have more than one row assigned to one image and shown in the grid? something like this..   I have a JTable that gets data added to it from another JTable. Now I want to switch between JTables according to the day selected in a JComboBox. For example, if I choose Monday I add programs added to it then I select Tuesday from the JComboBox and a fresh JTable appears. If I go to Monday again the programs should still be there (until the program is closed).   I am trying to understand this example code regarding Browser Helper Objects. Inside, the author implements a single class which exposes multiple interfaces (IObjectWithSite, IDispatch). His QueryInterface function performs the following: if(riid == IID_IUnknown) *ppv = static_cast<BHO*>(this); else if(riid == IID_IObjectWithSite) *ppv = static_cast<IObjectWithSite*>(this); else if (riid == IID_IDispatch) *ppv = static_cast<IDispatch*>(this); I have learned that from a C perspective, interface pointers are just pointers to VTables. So I take it to mean that C++ is capable of returning the VTable of any implemented interface using static_cast. Does this mean that a class constructed in this way has a bunch of VTables in memory (IObjectWithSite, IDispatch, etc)? What does C++ do with the name collisions on the different interfaces (they each have a QueryInterface, AddRef and Release function), can I implement different methods for each of these?

  How can you go about modelling an object that can have multiple simultaneous states? For example, you could have a person that's waiting for a bus. That's one state. But they could also be reading a newspaper while waiting for the bus. Furthermore, they could be thinking about something while reading the newspaper. They could also be sniffing their nose because they have a cold. That's a four states in all taking place at the same time. Obviously using booleans would be tedious and unflexible. Also, a conventional state pattern would mean that states are exclusive and can't be simultaneous in nature. The only thing I can think of is a State pattern combined with a Composite. Would this do or is there a way of taking things further?

  I just want to find out if there's a good implementation (in C#/ASP.NET) on how to access my records from my different databases simultaneously. I have this simple application which suppose to search on these databases, then, display the record if a certain keyword is matched. I have like 5 databases (currently using MySQL) all in all and will be expanding it on the future (might be changing to SQL Server). I am fully aware on how to search on a single database, while I'm still learning how do it in multiple databases. Any tips, comments or suggestions?

  Unless I misunderstood it, this LINK from Apple's documentation clearly states that the class initializer, "+ (void)initialize)", only executes once per class. Here is the excerpt: Special Considerations initialize it is invoked only once per class. If you want to perform independent initialization for the class and for categories of the class, you should implement load methods. However, I'm getting a weird behavior on my project and the initializer is being executed twice. So I have to check if _classContext is null. I only got one class that has this method. What are the possible reasons why this is happening? I'm using XCode 4.5.2 and OS X 10.8.2. • Hiding result sets from multiple selects in a stored procedure

  I have a stored procedure that retrieves SQL queries as text and executes the statements using sp_executesql. Each of the dynamic queries is a count query in that it only returns the number of records found (select COUNT(id) from...). I am looping through a set of SQL queries stored as text and building a table variable out of the results. At the end, I am selecting all the results from the table variable as the result set that I want returned from the stored procedure. However, when I execute the stored procedure, I am naturally getting multiple result sets (one for each of the dynamic queries and one for the final select.) Is there any way I can suppress the results of a select statement executed through sp_executesql? I have found answers that reference storing the results in a temp table, but I don't have control of the query text that I am running so I can't change it to select into anything. Please help. • acts_as_ferret with multiple hosts

  I've got everything working with ferret and acts_as_ferret for development (or localhost DRb), but I can't get my multiple host deployment working. All of the remote systems get ECONNREFUSED when accessing the port. On the ferret server, the daemon is listening on localhost only despite the configuration listing the FQDN as the host. I also tried switching to a UNIX socket to share data between the ferret DRb daemon and the app code but it too gets ECONNREFUSED. (The socket is available to all of the machines via an NFS mount). Is there a better way to do this or should I be looking for another search indexer? Thanks.

Now I could go on and write notifiaction events but I was wondering if there is a smarter way to do it -i.e. simply define the sources as the Items of each Item FatherClass posses

• Flex - Drag and drop - Drop a subset of multiple items

  I'm developing two DataGrid with drag and drop support. Multiple items can be selected from the source data grid, and dropped into the target data grid. I'm using an drag and drop event listener which completes the operation only in certain cases. I'm using event.preventDefault() but it doesn't work, since it stops the drag and drop from all the items.   I have a database with 3 tables that have related data. One table has transactions, and the other two relate to transaction categories. Basically it's financial data, so each transaction has a category (i.e. "gasoline" for a gas purchase transaction). A short version of my Transactions table looks like this- Transactions Table: ________________________________ | ID | Type | Amount | Category | --------------------------------- I also have two more tables relating a category to a categories parent. So basically, every Category entry in the Transactions Table belongs to a parent category (i.e. "gasoline" would belong to say "Automotive Expenses"). For categories, and their parent, I have two tables - Category Children: ____________________________________________ | ID | Parent Category ID | Child Category | -------------------------------------------- Category Parent: ________________________ | ID | Parent Category | ------------------------ What I'm trying to do is query the database and have it return a total spending by parent category. To get "spending" the Type of transactions must be "Debit". I tried the following statement: SELECT category_parents.parent_category, SUM(amount) AS totals FROM (transactions INNER JOIN category_children ON transactions.category = 'category_children.child_category') INNER JOIN category_parents ON category_children.parent_category_id = category_parents._id WHERE trans_type = 'Debit' GROUP BY parent_category ORDER BY totals DESC but it gives me the following exception: 12-31 13:51:21.515: ERROR/Exception on query(4403): android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such column: category_children.parent_category_id: , while compiling: SELECT category_parents.parent_category, SUM(amount) AS totals FROM (transactions INNER JOIN category_children ON transactions.category='category_children.child_category') INNER JOIN category_parents ON category_children.parent_category_id=category_parents._id where trans_type='Debit' group by parent_category order by totals desc Any help is appreciated. • MySql: Query multiple identical dynamic tables.

  I have a database with 500+ tables, each with identical structure, that contain historical data from sensors. I am trying to come up with a query that will locate, for example, all instances where sensor n exceeds x. The problem is that the tables are dynamic, the query must be able to dynamically obtain the list of tables. I can query information_schema.tables to get a list of the tables, like so: SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name'; I can use this to create a loop in the program and then query the database repeatedly, however it seems like there should be a way to have MySql do the multiple table search. I have not been able to make a stored procedure that works, but the examples I can find are generally for searching for a string in any column. I want to specifically find data in a specific column that exists in all tables. I admit I do not understand how to properly use stored procedures nor if they are the appropriate solution to this problem. An example query inside the loop would be: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM device_table WHERE sensor_value > 10; Trying the following does not work: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM ( SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name' ) WHERE sensor_value > 10; It results in an error: "Every derived table must have its own alias." The goal is to have a list of all devices that have had a given sensor value occur anywhere in their log (table). Ultimately, should I just loop in my program once I've obtained a list of tables, or is there a query structure that would be more efficient?

• Import exponetial fixed width format data into Excel

  I've received a bunch of text data files consiting of Lots of records (30K/file) of 3 fields each of 5-place numbers in exponential format: s0.nnnnnEsee (where s is +/-, n is a digit and ee is the exponent (always 2 digit). When I open the file in Notepad, the format is perfectly uniform throughout each file, but when I import it to Excel using Data|Import|Fixed Width, many of the data values get messed up, no matter what format (text, exponential, various custom tries) I assign to the cells. Looking at the Notepad version, it appears that leading + signs were replaced with a space in the data file, but the sign of the exponential is always there. This means that some fields begin with a space, and this appears to confuse the Excel import routine. I get the same result in Excel 2003 and 2007. I'm sure there's a straightforward solution (hopefully without a messy VBA routine), but I can't figure out what to try next. :-) To clarify (hopefully), here are some input records and the corresponding text input to Excel: Notepad Excel -0.11311E+01 0.10431E-04 0.27018E-03 -0.11311E 1.0431E-05 2.7018E-04 0.19608E+00-0.81414E-02-0.89553E-02 0.19608E -8.1414E-03 8.9553E-03 etc. Whoopee! Solved my own problem - in the spirit of Jeopardy, now that I've begun the question, here's the answer - Use a different "File Origin" - several other than the default "Unicode UTF..." work fine!
