CAML it’s a markup language like html that allows developers to do queries against SharePoint lists, it’s syntax is very easy to understand and it allows to add logical conditions like Where, Contains, And, Or, etc, just like a SQL Query. For one of our projects we have the need to do a filter on SharePoint views, the problem here is that the view it’s a list containing a CAML Query with the filters the view may have, so in order to filter the view that’s already been filtered before, we need to append our filters to the existing CAML Query. That’s not a trivial task because the where statement in a CAML Query it’s like this: <Where>   <And>     <Filter1 />     <Filter2 />   </And> </Where> If we want to add a new logical operator, like an OR it’s not just as simple as to append the OR expression like the following example: <Where>   <And>     <Filter1 />     <Filter2 />   </And>   <Or>     <Filter3 />   </Or> </Where> But instead the correct query would be: <Where>   <Or>     <And>       <Filter1 />       <Filter2 />     </And>     <Filter3 />   </Or> </Where> Notice that the <Filter# /> tags are for explanation purpose only. In order to solve this problem we created a simple component, it has a method that receives the current query (could be an empty query also) and appends the expression you want to that query. Example: string currentQuery = @“ <Where>    <And>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>A</Value></Contains>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>B</Value></Contains>   </And> </Where>”; currentQuery = CAMLQueryBuilder.AppendQuery(     currentQuery,     “<Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>C</Value></Contains>”,     CAMLQueryBuilder.Operators.Or); The fist parameter this function receives it’s the actual query, the second it’s the filter you want to add, and the third it’s the logical operator, so basically in this query we want all the items that the title contains: the character A and B or the ones that contains the character C. The result query is: <Where>   <Or>      <And>       <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>A</Value></Contains>       <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>B</Value></Contains>     </And>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>C</Value></Contains>   </Or> </Where>             The code:   First of all we have an enumerator inside the CAMLQueryBuilder class that has the two possible Options And, Or. public enum Operators { And, Or }   Then we have the main method that’s the one that performs the append of the filters. public static string AppendQuery(string containerQuery, string logicalExpression, Operators logicalOperator){   In this method the first we do is create a new XmlDocument and wrap the current query (that may be empty) with a “<Query></Query>” tag, because the query that comes with the view doesn’t have a root element and the XmlDocument must be a well formatted xml.   XmlDocument queryDoc = new XmlDocument(); queryDoc.LoadXml("<Query>" + containerQuery + "</Query>");   The next step is to create a new XmlDocument containing the logical expression that has the filter needed.   XmlDocument logicalExpressionDoc = new XmlDocument(); logicalExpressionDoc.LoadXml("<root>" + logicalExpression + "</root>"); In these next four lines we extract the expression from the recently created XmlDocument and create an XmlElement.                  XmlElement expressionElTemp = (XmlElement)logicalExpressionDoc.SelectSingleNode("/root/*"); XmlElement expressionEl = queryDoc.CreateElement(expressionElTemp.Name); expressionEl.InnerXml = expressionElTemp.InnerXml;   Below are the main steps in the component logic. The first “if” checks if the actual query doesn’t contains a “Where” clause. • Adding SQL Cache Dependencies to the Loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider

  This post adds SQL Cache Dependency support to the loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider that I described in the previous post (http://geekswithblogs.net/Rhames/archive/2012/09/11/loosely-coupled-.net-cache-provider-using-dependency-injection.aspx). The sample code is available on github at https://github.com/RobinHames/CacheProvider.git. Each time we want to apply a cache dependency to a call to fetch or cache a data item we need to supply an instance of the relevant dependency implementation. This suggests an Abstract Factory will be useful to create cache dependencies as needed. We can then use Dependency Injection to inject the factory into the relevant consumer. Castle Windsor provides a typed factory facility that will be utilised to implement the cache dependency abstract factory (see http://docs.castleproject.org/Windsor.Typed-Factory-Facility-interface-based-factories.ashx). Cache Dependency Interfaces First I created a set of cache dependency interfaces in the domain layer, which can be used to pass a cache dependency into the cache provider. ICacheDependency The ICacheDependency interface is simply an empty interface that is used as a parent for the specific cache dependency interfaces. This will allow us to place a generic constraint on the Cache Dependency Factory, and will give us a type that can be passed into the relevant Cache Provider methods. namespace CacheDiSample.Domain.CacheInterfaces { public interface ICacheDependency { } }   ISqlCacheDependency.cs The ISqlCacheDependency interface provides specific SQL caching details, such as a Sql Command or a database connection and table. Modifying ICacheProvider to accept Cache Dependencies Next I modified the exisitng ICacheProvider<T> interface so that cache dependencies may be passed into a Fetch method call. I did this by adding two overloads to the existing Fetch methods, which take an IEnumerable<ICacheDependency> parameter (the IEnumerable allows more than one cache dependency to be included). I also added a method to create cache dependencies. This means that the implementation of the Cache Provider will require a dependency on the Cache Dependency Factory. It is pretty much down to personal choice as to whether this approach is taken, or whether the Cache Dependency Factory is injected directly into the repository or other consumer of Cache Provider. I think, because the cache dependency cannot be used without the Cache Provider, placing the dependency on the factory into the Cache Provider implementation is cleaner. Now the interfaces are in place, I moved on to the concrete implementations. ISqlCacheDependency Concrete Implementation The concrete implementation of ISqlCacheDependency will need to provide an instance of System.Web.Caching.SqlCacheDependency to the Cache Provider implementation. Unfortunately this class is sealed, so I cannot simply inherit from this. Instead, I created an interface called IAspNetCacheDependency that will provide a Create method to create an instance of the relevant System.Web.Caching Cache Dependency type. This interface is specific to the ASP.NET implementation of the Cache Provider, so it should be defined in the same layer as the concrete implementation of the Cache Provider (the MVC UI layer in the sample code). This implementation is modified to include the changes to the ICacheProvider interface. Notice that I have not implemented the ICacheDependencyFactory interface. Castle Windsor will do this for me by using the Type Factory Facility. From the Visual Studio Command Prompt, the following commands should be used to enable the Cache Polling of the relevant database tables: aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d <databasename> –ed aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d CacheSample –et –t <tablename>   (The –t option should be repeated for each table that is to be made available for cache dependencies). Finally the SQL Cache Polling needs to be enabled by adding the following configuration to the <system.web> section of web.config: <caching> <sqlCacheDependency pollTime="10000" enabled="true"> <databases> <add name="BloggingContext" connectionStringName="BloggingContext"/> </databases> </sqlCacheDependency> </caching>   (obviously the name and connection string name should be altered as required). Using a SQL Cache Dependency Now all the coding is complete. The data will remain in the cache until the contents of this table change, then the cache item will be invalidated, and the next call to the GetAll() repository method will be routed to the parent repository to refresh the data from the database.

  In previous post, I have discussed on how to work with ASP.NET MVC 3 and EF Code First for developing web apps. In this post, I will demonstrate on working with domain entity with deep object graph, Service Layer and View Models and will also complete the rest of the demo application. In the previous post, we have done CRUD operations against Category entity and this post will be focus on Expense entity those have an association with Category entity. Our domain objects are mainly designed for the needs for domain model and it is representing the domain of our applications. On the other hand, View Model objects are designed for our needs for views. We have an Expense domain entity that has an association with Category. While we are creating a new Expense, we have to specify that in which Category belongs with the new Expense transaction. The user interface for Expense transaction will have form fields for representing the Expense entity and a CategoryId for representing the Category. ASP.NET MVC futures assembly provides a static class ModelCopier that can use for copying values between Model objects. ModelCopier class has two static methods - CopyCollection and CopyModel.CopyCollection method will copy values between two collection objects and CopyModel will copy values between two model objects. We have used CopyModel method of ModelCopier class for copying values from expenseViewModel object to expense object. Finally we did a call to CreateExpense method of ExpenseService class for persisting new expense transaction. List Expense Transactions We want to list expense transactions based on a date range. The Ajax.BeginForm() method writes an opening <form> tag to the response. You can use this method in a using block. In that case, the method renders the closing </form> tag at the end of the using block and the form is submitted asynchronously by using JavaScript. The search functionality will call the Index Action method and this will return partial view ExpenseList for updating the search result. We want to update the response UI for the Ajax request onto divExpenseList element. So we have specified the UpdateTargetId as "divExpenseList" in the Ajax.BeginForm method. Add jQuery DatePicker Our search functionality is using a date range so we are providing two date pickers using jQuery datepicker. You need to add reference to the following JavaScript files to working with jQuery datepicker. - jquery-ui.js - jquery.ui.datepicker.js For theme support for datepicker, we can use a customized CSS class. In our example we have used a CSS file “jquery-ui-1.8.6.custom.css”. For more details about the datepicker component, visit jquery UI website at http://jqueryui.com/demos/datepicker . Rightnow, my forms are working fine, I can insert data successfully, but the problem was when I click on submit after filling the form data, the content is hiding and displays the fist div content "cs_content" and again I need to onclick to submit again.   We have active directory syncronization setup between our on-premises AD server and Microsoft hosted Exchange (business productivity online services). I've started getting a daily error report, which details an error for a specific AD user, however it references it by GUID. I can't find any info on how to translate that object guid into something meaningful so I can find and fix the problem. The error is reported as: Error 005: Unable to set the alias for this object in Microsoft Online Services because either the primary SMTP address, the e-mail nickname, or the SAM account name in the local Active Directory contains an invalid character. in reference to the Object GUID: CN={8443cbb4-5199-49f0-9529-ce965430dca6} How can I translate that object guid into a friendly object name?

  I need my web app to restart the dansguardian service (on CentOS) so it needs to run '/sbin/service dansguardian restart' I have a shellscript in /home/topological called apacherestart.sh which does the following: #!/bin/sh id=`id` /sbin/service dansguardian restart r=$? return $r This runs ok (logger statement in script for testing output to syslog, so I know it's running) To make it run, I put this in /etc/sudoers: User_Alias APACHE=www # Cmnd alias specification Cmnd_Alias HTTPRESTART=/home/topological/apacherestart.sh,/sbin/e-smith/db,/etc/rc7.d/S91dansguardian # Defaults specification # User privilege specification root ALL=(ALL) ALL APACHE ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: HTTPRESTART So far so good. But the service does not restart. To test this I created a user david, and fudged the uid/gid in /etc/passwd to be the same as www: www:x:102:102:e-smith web server:/home/e-smith:/bin/false david:x:102:102:David:/home/e-smith/files/users/david:/bin/bash then logged in as david and tried to run the apacherestart.sh. The problem I get is: /etc/rc7.d/S91dansguardian: line 51: /sbin/e-smith/db: Permission denied even though S91dansguardian and db are in the sudoers command list. Any ideas?

• Exchange not preserving the "To:" field

  I've got a hosted exchange solution through Apptix, which isn't the problem, I think, but it may be relevant. I have my main account, [email protected], and to that, I have an alias, [email protected]. Whenever I send an email to [email protected], I examine the headers, and I see the "To:" field being correct, "To: [email protected]". All is well. I recently set up another user, [email protected] to function as a multipurpose mailbox. I aliased "[email protected]" to the services account in the same method that I did "[email protected]", however nothing I have sent to "[email protected]" actually goes TO "[email protected]". All of the headers say "To: [email protected]". This makes it extremely difficult to filter based on headers alone. Does anyone have any feedback on what settings I would need to look at in order to fix that?

  I'm installing gitolite from CentOS packages for my client. The package creates a gitolite user, which will be visible explicitly during a "git clone" operations. The client wants to use "git" and not "gitolite", in case we change to something more fancy later. I'm not very familiar with CentOS, so I don't want to try to build the package myself from source. I'm wondering if there's a way to do one of the following: Trick sshd into treating "git" as "gitolite". Somehow "alias" a new git username to be the same in all ways as the existing gitolite username (perhaps through some complex combinations of useradd). Rename the "gitolite" username to "git" without upsetting later yum update operations Something else that I hadn't thought of I'd appreciate detailed instructions or pointers.

• Will my system fsck when I reboot?

I would like to minimize downtime, so thinking about wrapping reboot in an alias that says "hang on buddy, you're going to hit a fsck on boot". Next question.. what's the best way to say "lets do it next time?" set the last check date? I know tune2fs can set a bunch of parameters, but how would I get em?

• nginx can't load images,css,js

  When I point to a URL in nginx where it has images extension such as: http://50.56.81.42/phpMyAdmin/themes/original/img/logo_right.png (as example) it gives me the 404 error as it can't find the file, but the file is actually there. What is potentially wrong?   I have an externally started FastCGI application that listens on socket '/tmp/foo.sock' and a directory of static files in '/srv/static'. Apache has all needed permissions on the socket and the directories. What I need : All requests starting with '/static' should be handled by apache using the contents of '/srv/static'. All other requests should be handled by the FastCGI application. • Postfix virtual_alias stealing emails from virutal_mailbox

  I am trying to setup a "catchall" address. In my virtual_mailbox table I have emails setup like so: select * from virtual_users; id | domain_id | password | email ----+-----------+---------------------------------------------- 3 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] 4 | 1 | ***************** | [email protected] That works great on its own. When I try to add a virtual alias for the catchall: select * from virtual_aliases; id | domain_id | source | destination ----+-----------+-------------------+--------------------------- 1 | 1 | @domain.com | [email protected] Once I add that virtual_alias, all email is going to catchall and I can send any to [email protected]. Is there something I need to do to shift around the priority? • Find and hide file extension

  I am trying to find all files that have the same filename (excluding the file extension) that occur 3 times. I also need the full path to the file. What I have currently is #get file without extension alias lse="ls -1R | sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'" #print out the current dir and get files occuring 3 times lse | sed "s;^;`pwd`/;" | sort | uniq -c | grep " 3 " This runs howver pwd prints the folder I ran the command from not the path to the file. So I tried find find . -type f | sed "s#^.#$(pwd)#" | sort | uniq -c This runs but includes the file extension. When I try to add sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'" I get errors as I am not sure how to combine the two sed commands and I cannot seem to pipe a second time to sed? so what I am trying to do is find . -type f | sed "s#^.#$(pwd)#" | sed -e 's/\.[a-zA-Z]*$//'"| sort | uniq -c | grep " 3 " but this does not run.
