• asp.net calendar control appears below textfield

  I ma using an image button to display an asp.net calendar control (this control comes with VS 2008). However, when I click the image button, the calendar controls is displayed "below" the textfield that it is suppoed to populate. How can I get the control to appear on the right side of the textfield?   I'm generating an .XLS file with a DLL (Excel Library http://code.google.com/p/excellibrary/) I've added this DLL as a reference to my project. The code to save the .XLS to disk is running, but it's encountering a permissions issue. I've attempted to set full access for IUSRS, Network Service, and Everyone just to see if I could get it working, and none of these seems to make a difference. • How can I handle template dependencies in Template Toolkit?

  My static web pages are built from a huge bunch of templates which are inter-included using Template Toolkit's "import" and "include", so page.html looks like this: [% INCLUDE top %] [% IMPORT middle %] Then top might have even more files included. I have very many of these files, and they have to be run through to create the web pages in various languages (English, French, etc., not computer languages). This is a very complicated process and when one file is updated I would like to be able to automatically remake only the necessary files, using a makefile or something similar. Are there any tools like makedepend for C files which can parse template toolkit templates and create a dependency list for use in a makefile? Or are there better ways to automate this process?

• Cocoa NSOutlineView and Drag-and-Drop

  I recently started another thread without an account, so I'm reposting the question here with an account so I can edit current links to the program so other users can follow this. I have also updated the code below. Here is my original question: I read the other post here on Outlineviews and DND, but I can't get my program to work. At the bottom of this post is a link to a zip of my project. Its very basic with only an outlineview and button. I want it to receive text files being dropped on it, but something is wrong with my code or connections. I tried following Apple's example code of their NSOutline Drag and Drop, but I'm missing something. 1 difference is my program is a document based program and their example isn't. I set the File's Owner to receive delegate actions, since that's where my code to handle drag and drop is, as well as a button action. • How do I compile Android Browser (or other android-supplied applications)

  I want to add support for Arabic (or other languages which are currently unsupported) to the applications supplied by android platform (e.g. Browser) without having root-access. To add Arabic support (at least displaying only) in a normal application (using developer SDK), I will need to: Add fonts Modify (reshape) the characters to be rendered For illustration, if I have string a aaa, I will need to change a aaa into a bcd because letter a at the beginning, middle, and end of a word need to be changed to b,c and d respectively) But now I want to compile android's Browser (and other apps). I am planning to get the source codes for these applications and their dependencies and bundle them as stand-alone applications which do not require root-access, and thus do not void the warranty. Other solutions which void the warranty can be obtained here. My Questions: Is the application's (e.g. Browser's) source code + 'developer SDK' enough to accomplish this? Do I need to get the source code + the development environment for the android platform? Any tips?

• Windows 2000 under Windows 7 Virtual PC not working correctly

  I have just moved my Windows 2000 Virtual PCs from Vista to Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). The machines work to a point but I have found some problems: drive mapping does not seem to work any more. I need this to exchange data. I do not need network access to the virtual PC so would rather leave it unconnected. the virtual PC would automatically shutdown the session and go to the login screen after a few minutes of inactivity. I tried installing the Virtual PC Integration Components but the install failed (one of the messages basically says it's XP+ only). Now I'm stuck in 640x480 mode with mouse capture. I have heard that you can install an older version of the Integration Components but this sounds a bit suspect. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Windows2000 working with drive sharing on a Virtual PC?

  Hey there, What is the best way to get a number of property values of a business object from the View to the Presenter in a WebFormsMvp page? Here is what i propose: The scenario is, I have a business object called Quote which i would like to load form the database, edit and then save. The Quote class has heaps of properties on it. The form is concerned with about 20 of these properties. I have existing methods to load/save a Quote object to/from the database. I now need to wire this all together. So, in the View_Load handler on my presenter i intend to do something like this: public void View_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { View.Model.Quote = quoteService.Read(quoteId); } And then bind all my controls as follows: <asp:TextBox ID="TotalPriceTextBox" runat="server" Text="<%# Model.Quote.TotalPrice %>" /> All good, the data is on the screen. The user then makes a bunch of changes and hits a "Submit" button. Here is where I'm unsure. I create a class called QuoteEventArgs exposing the 20 properties the form is able to edit. When the View raises the Submit button's event, I set these properties to the values of the controls in the code behind. Then raise the event for the presenter to respond to. The presenter re-loads the Quote object from the database, sets all the properties and saves it to the database. Is this the right way to do this? If not, what is? Cheers, Andrej.

  Hello! I'm a fledgling in the Android and Eclipse ways. I was reading and downloaded the source code for a Streaming Media Player tutorial from Pocket Journey, here. However, when I try to run it through the "Run As..." or "Debug As..." features in Eclipse, the emulator reports: "Sorry! The application Android Tutorials (process com.pocketjourney.tutorials) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Now, from stepping through the Tutorial 1 activity (for those of you that may be familiar with it), it seems something funky happens here: button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { Toast.makeText(Tutorial1.this, "Button Clicked",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); }}); My questions are: What's up with that line? Apparently, other comments haven't had this problem; am I missing some library that I should be downloading from someplace? How should I go about debugging this other than/in addition to stepping through code? I'm used to Visual Studio, which has a nice box with exception details for me to sift through and copy/paste to google with. Eclipse debugging showed a "No Source Code" page, or a list of exceptions. I've heard of something called LogCat; is that relevant here? Thanks in advance!

  I would like your comments and suggestion on this. I am doing the pagination for a page in jsf. The datatable is bound to a Backing Bean property through the "binding" attribute. I have 2 boolean variables to determine whether to render 'Prev' and 'Next' Button - which is displayed below the datatable. When either the 'Prev' or 'Next' button is clicked, In the backing bean I get the bound dataTable property and through which i get the "first" and "rows" attribute of the datatable and change accordingly. I display 5 rows in the page. • Creating user control with dock.Full property giving me a problem

Like in one screen has treeview on left side,gridview with paging in the middle and 4 buttons at right side. the controls are properly appears when the form is in maximize state. but if i minimize it the controls are not properly fits in the screen. i tried with different different tricks like table layout.. in dat i added panel...etc.. but i could not solve the problem.   I'm not 100% on how to do this so i'm asking... May seem stupid but... How do I convert a string into an integer? Background info: I have a textbox I have the user enter a number into... it then: EditText et = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.entry1); String hello = et.getText().toString(); gets the string 'hello' Now I want to convert it to a integer so I can get the number they typed in -will be used later on in code... Is there a way to get the edittext to a integer? -That would skip the middle man... If not, string to integer will be just fine... Thanks alot, James

• My Smart-Pad doesn't work, even when I activate it

  I have an Asus X5DIJ, and I have had it since Christmas. However, today, the Smart-Pad stopped working. I wasn't clicking anything, I was just typing. Someone suggested downloading drivers, and I'm not to good with guides, so can anyone assist me? Also, when I click on the Smart-Pad icon in the notification area, that icon is crossed out. There is a red X over it, no matter if it is on / off. Can anyone help me, this has happened to my cousin who has the same laptop as me, he now uses a mouse, but I'd rather keep the Smart - Pad.

• Linux for a laptop? [closed]

  I would like to install Linux on a laptop. So I have emptied the hard drive, and can boot off a CD. So far I have failed to format the hard drive to Linux, to install Linux, and to change it so that I don't have to hit escape when loading in order to boot from CD (or get Linux on the hard drive and boot to it). The old laptop has 640 MB RAM, 600*800 screen, a CD drive and USB mouse and floppy drives. I eventually mean to use it to look at PDFs if possible, or RTFs that I converted from PDFs if not.

  I'm looking for a window manager that is not based on the "standard" taskbar (which I find a poor idea and I'm completely tired of). I'm aware of tiling window managers and improvements in last versions of operating systems, but I can't find what I need. I suppose that any window takes the whole screen (or can be tiled), and I imagine switching between windows like that: on a hotkey or mouse hot zone the screen becomes a task switcher where tasks are organized in a somewhat convenient manner. Well, it's a bit like a taskbar with autohide, but I think there could be some more convenient ideas than simply stacking icons and descriptions... It is also supposed to be lightweight enough, for example to run on a netbook. Any suggestions?

  When I was a kid I fell hard on my right wrist and since then I always get wrist pains when angling my wrist very high up (ie: when using a very high shaped mouse or doing push ups). So I have narrowed down my choices for a keyboard to the following 2: Microsoft Natural 4000: And the Razer Arctosa: The Razer is a slim type keyboard similar to a laptop feel and the hand-rest would help with keeping my hands straight with respect to my forearms. I am more inclined on getting the razer but am not sure if this will benefit my wrists in the long run. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  I'm doing a calculator. So I made my own Buttons with numbers and functions. The expression that has to be calculated, is in an EditText, because I want users can add numbers or functions also in the middle of the expression, so with the EditText I have the cursor. But I want to disable the Keyboard when users click on the EditText. • [iOS] becomeFirstResponder: automatically scroll to the UIControl that becomes first responder

  I have a grouped UITableViewController with one section and many rows. Each cell consists of two elements: a UILabel with a description and a UITextField for an input. A form, I would say. On the bottom is a button "Next" the go to the next view. But before that, I validate the UITextField's: if the user hasn't filled a field, this field should get the focus, so that the user sees that he needs to enter something. I tried with this: [inputField becomeFirstResponder]; Remember, the button I pressed is on the bottom of my view and imagine that the UITextField is on the top. In this situation, the field doesn't get the focus because it is too far away. Now when I scroll up slowly and the field gets visible, the field becomes first responder and gets the cursor :-) Conclusion: The becomeFirstResponder worked, but does not exactly do what I wanted to. I don't want to scroll up with my finger, the field should get the focus and visible automatically. Is there any way to "jump" directly to my field? Use an alternative to becomeFirstResponder? Scroll to my field automatically? Thanks for your help!

  Hello all, When i got home from work yesterday i couldn't logg in on my account on my desktop pc (Acer Aspire M5620). The reason for this was that when i was typing, more diggets would appear than i pressed. After logging on an account that required no password (my Dad's) i found out that some of my key bindings were messed up. For instance when typing: W --- qwe would appear q --- qw + right mouse e --- we a --- as s --- asd d --- sd z --- zx x --- zxc c --- xc Moreover pressing: 1 --- 12 2 --- 123 3 --- 23 I am typing this from my Dad's laptop (which is working like a charm). I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before and thus knows a way to fix it. I'm not the brainy type when it comes to computers. Ps: I apologise for any mistakes in my English, for it is not my native tongue. I'm from the Netherlands

• Android - Lifecycle and saving an Instance State questions

  So within my application is a form for creating a new user, with relevant details and information about the user. There's no problems there, it's just what happens when the user leaves the activity without pressing the confirm button. Here's what I want to do: If the user presses the back button, attempt to save all the data to the database and inform the user. If the activity is interrupted (ie by a phone call), save all the data into a temporary location so when the activity is at the top of the stack again, nothing appears to have changed (but the data still hasn't yet been saved to the database). If the activity gets killed for more resources when in the background, do the same as point 2 above (ie when the activity is started again, it appears that nothing has changed). If the whole application is started again (by clicking on the icon again) and there is temporary data stored from either points 2 or 3 above, navigate to the "create user" activity and display data as if nothings changed. Here's how I'm currently trying to do it: Use onDestroy() and isFinishing() functions to find when the activity is being killed, to cover point 1 above (to then try and save all data). Save all data with onSaveInstanceState into a bundle (to cover point 2 above) Does the bundle created with onSaveInstanceState survive the activity being killed for more resources, so when its recreated the previous state can be retrieved (as in point 3 above)? No idea how to implement point 4. Any help would be massively appreciated. Cheers!

  I have a togglebutton that should run code when I press it down and more code when I let go. However the first time I press and let go nothing happens. Every other time it is fine, why is this?
