  • Acrobat Reader 9 Crashes Every Time

    I have an XP machine on which Adobe Acrobat Reader crashes every time as soon as it starts. I've tried reinstalling 9 and it doesn't help at all. If I use it to open a PDF, it displays the first page, and can be scrolled for about 3 seconds before it crashes. Is there some way to debug this?

  • How to disable portmap on Mac OS X

    Hi, I notice the message: Firewall[313] portmap is listening from 0.0.0.0:111 proto=6 repeated on my logs ever 30 seconds. How can I disable portmap (not using NFS or anything like that so I assume I have no need for it). I already tried Lingon.app and disabled com.apple.portmap from there, but that didn't help at all as portmap is still running after i rebooted. What would be the proper way to disable portmap and stop the service without having to reboot on Mac OS X 10.6. peto

    Hello, Recently I installed an apcusbd on a FreeBSD 8.0 amd64 box via ports system. It installed perfectly but it won't run. Here what is says in the log: FATAL ERROR in generic-usb.c at line 636 Cannot find UPS device It appeared that HID driver picked the /dev/ugen4.2 which could cause the apcusb being unable to find the device. After I had discovered this, I rebuilt the kernel and removed the hid driver. Now it just shows "ugen4.2: <Tripp Lite> at usbus4" and no uhid0 device appears. Nevertheless the problem persisted. I tried to leave the DEVICE config setting blank --- won't help. Then I specified the particular device in the config, but it did not help either.   • New computer WindowsXP on Server 2003 network will not connect to file server

    When we try to connect to our file server with the new computer, it denies access. The computer is joined to the domain and I can see it on active directory. We need to connect to the file server for printing and terminal services.     Hi, I've installed SCCM SP2 - primary site, management point. I imported to it a vPro computer, but it's AMT status is "Unknown" instead of "Not Provisioned". I wanted to check the reason, but I can't find the file amtopmgr.log (it should be there). Why this file wasn't created? How can I solve it? (I tried to create this file manually - didn't help...)   • Outlook 2007 login prompt repeat prompt and exchange 2010

    It seems when I first setup a new user in Outlook 2007, a login prompt comes up and asks for credentials. After the account is setup, the login prompt will repeatedly prompt throughout the day and is a little annoying. This happened recently as all other machines are not doing this - just a few machines on the network (HP 8200 Elite small form factor machines to be exact) Any help would be much appreciated.

    I have never used a Linux system in an AD environment before and am trying to join my laptop running Ubuntu to join our Active Directory (DC is a Windows Server 2008 machine) using Likewise-open. Using the GUI wizard, I have joined the domain. I can mount network shares using CIFS Problem: I only have read access to our fileserver. What more is needed to get the AD to recognize me as a user who has the appropriate rights? Any help is appreciated.

  • How to scale out image hosting/serving?

    I asked this question on stackoverflow and it was suggested that I try it here: I'm building a website where users can upload photos and I'd also convert uploaded photos into thumbnails. Planning ahead, if the website gets popular, how do I scale it out so that the images (both original and thumbnails) will be stored in and served from multiple servers? Maybe a cluster?
