  • Can I use php's fwrite with 644 file permissions?

    - by filip
I am trying to set up automated .htaccess updating. This clearly needs to be as secure as possible, however right now the best I can do file permission-wise is 666. What can I do to setup either my server or php code so that my script's fwrite() command will work with 644 or better? For instance is there a way to set my script(s) to run as owner?

  • How many keys are too many in memcached?

    - by jack
I currently have about 650,000 items in memcached (430MB memory used) and the number is still increasing. It's expected to exceed 1,000,000 items before going flat. Current hit/miss ratio is 25:1 so the efficiency is pretty good. I just wanted to ask is one million items in memcached on single server too many? If no, how many is too many?

By defining an initialize function? class Thing < ActiveRecord::Base # 'special' (integer) needs to be set to lowest unused number (above 0) # considering that random rows will be removed via other processes end This is as far as I've got! Any ideas?

  • crosshair tool, is there one? Visual studio 2008

    - by flavour404
Hi, I am doing some image sampling. What my question is, is there a 'crosshair' tool in visual studio? I want to have several instances on a single form, be able to move them around and then sample those points, obviously returning the color of the pixel at the center of the crosshair, is there already a tool that will do this, before I go and write one? Thanks, R.

  • How to get an array size

    - by John Doe
I'd like to know how to get an array rows & columns size. For instance it would be something like this: int matrix[][] = { { 2, 3 , 4}, { 1, 5, 3 } } The size of this one would be 2 x 3. How can I calculate this without including other libraries but stdio or stdlib?

  • Methods in Ruby: objects or not?

    - by Mladen Jablanovic
Inspired by this discussion, after some googling I wasn't able to find an answer to a pretty simple question regarding methods in Ruby: are they objects or not? There are different opinions here and there, and I would really like to hear, let's say, an in-depth explanation. I'm aware of Object#method method, which takes a method name and returns a Method instance, but, on the other hand, there's a similar thing you can do with blocks to make them into Proc instances, and blocks aren't objects, so what makes methods any different?

  • At what point in the render process of a web page can we interact with that page

    - by Bamerza
I'd like to measure to distinct user experience points during the rendering of an HTML page: 1) Point which user sees the first painting of the page 2) Point at which user can interact with the page - meaning sees 75% of it or can actually register a button click or link click I am pretty certain these UX interactions can start before the HTML code is fully rendered, so would that instance be the JS func "OnLoad" or some other distinct measureable value/function? If it helps, we can even narrow the answer down to webkit based browsers.
