    I installed the Droid@Screen plugin into NetBeans IDE 8 so that you can see the Android device that I held in my hand while doing the demo below. The demo shows the usage of the Terminal window to create an Ionic Framework application (from "tabs", which is one of the cool templates that the framework provides), i.e., that means I can use AngularJS to create a Cordova application out of the box, with many mobile-oriented components available out of the box. Then I deploy the app to the Chrome browser on Android, which means I can interact with it in NetBeans, e.g., for CSS styling and JavaScript debugging. In this demo, I show how the background color of the deployed app can be changed live from NetBeans. After that, once I'm happy with the styling, I deploy the app again, but this time as a Cordova app, i.e., a hybrid HTML5 application, which means the app is packaged as a native app and deployed directly to the device from NetBeans.   • Do applescript repeat loops reflect changes instantly?

    I'm making a script to open multiple folders in a directory, and it's not working as planned. I've tried outlining it and walking through the steps one by one pretending I'm the computer executing it but when I run it the outcome is very different. It uses repeat and repeat with a lot. The repeat repeats for as long as there is ANYTHING in a certain array (I mean List) and the repeat with is INSIDE of the first repeat, which repeats it's own loop with everything in the array at that time. Now, one of the actions of the repeat with loop is to change the array. Which I think would change the loop would it not? Example (foldList is A, B, C) repeat until {} repeat with folder_name in foldList do something set foldList to 1, 2, 3 end repeat end repeat What I would THINK that does is iterate through the first loop as "A", but before hitting the end it would change foldList to 1, 2, 3. So instead of going through the next loop as "B" I'd think it would go as "1" instead. But if it did that then I don't think my manual walkthrough would be off by so much. So I'm under the assumption that in Applescript when you're in a repeat with, regardless of changing the List you WILL end that loop on the last item of the first List (before the list was replaced.) Is this right?

    Hello, I was working at my server, when in htop I just noticed something unusual. The syslog-ng process was listed as follows supervising syslog-ng /sbin/syslog-ng I don't know what it means. I tried to do man supervising but found nothing. supervising command doesn't exist too. Googling, I found a page about launchtool, but I can't find neither it or its man page in my system. I'm curious What does that executable/command/whatever do? Why today did I read that line in htop? Thank you. PS: I was unsure about posting this to SU or SF: even if it's a server-related question, it covers general Linux.

For a while GLPI was sccuessfully importing computers from OCS NG, but now GLPI shows there are new computers to import but doesn't do anything when requested to import them. How do I find what is going on? Are there any log files or debug modes I can turn on? Documentation on the interaction of these pieces of software is pretty sparse.

    Emacs does not seem to respect the OS's key repeat rate. I'm using emacs in the terminal. I've set the repeat rate to as fast as possible by directly editing the settings in the following file (I restarted after making the change): open ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist The rest of the system observes the repeat rate. The terminal works as expected, as does vim. But, when I use emacs I still get the annoyingly slow repeat rate.

  • css: make background repeat-y with growing child content?

    I Have a three column layout. The center div is a container which holds all of my content. The outer columns is just a .png that fades into the body's background (left and right respectively). I want the .png to repeat-y to grow with the center container's content. It will only print the image once, and ignores the repeat-y. If I specify a height to the outside columns, it will print, but only to the specified height. I tried height: 100%, which does not work.   • How to define an angular directive inside an angular directive's link function?

    I want to create an angular directive inside of a link function, however; the directive created is not able to be compiled. See this JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/v47uvsj5/5/ Uncommenting this directive in the global space works as expected. app.directive('test', function () { return { templateUrl: 'myform', // wraps script tag with id 'myform' restrict: 'E', require: "^mydir", replace: true, scope: { }, link: function (scope, element, attrs, mydirCtrl) { scope.remove = function () { element.remove(); mydirCtrl.remove(); } } } }); But the exact same code inside the link function fails. The reason I want to do this is because I want the user (who is going to be myself) to be able to provide only a script tag's id via an id attribute to my main directive which will in turn create a 'wrapper' directive with a 'remove' method. This way, in the script tag, all one needs to do is implement the 'remove'.

    I have a directive which takes element's text and places wbr elements after every 10th character. I'm using it for example on table cells with long text (e.g. URLs), so it does not span over the table. Here is jsFiddle, when clicking on the button you can see the error in console. So obvious question: why is the error there, what is the source of it, and why only in IE? (Bonus question: how can I make IE dev tools to tell me more about error, like the line from source code, because it took me some time to locate it, Error: Invalid argument. does not tell much about the origin.) P.S.: I know IE does not know the wbr at all, but that is not the issue. Edit: in my real application I have re-written the directive to not to look on element's text and modify that, but rather pass the input text via attribute, and works fine now in all browsers. But I'm still curious why the original solution was giving that error in IE, thus starting the bounty.

  • Do Repeat Yourself in Unit Tests

    Don’t get me wrong I’m a big supporter of the DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) Principle except however when it comes to unit tests. Why? Well, in my opinion a unit test should be a self-contained group of actions with the intent to test a very specific piece of code and should not depend on externals shared with other unit tests. In a typical unit test we can divide its code in two major groups: Preparation of preconditions for the code under test; Invocation of the code under test. It’s in the first group that you are tempted to refactor common code in several unit tests into helper methods that can then be called in each one of them. Another way to not duplicate code is to use the built-in infrastructure of some unit test frameworks such as SetUp/TearDown methods that automatically run before and after each unit test. I must admit that in the past I was guilty of both charges but what at first seemed a good idea since I was removing code duplication turnout to offer no added value and even complicate the process when a given test fails. We love unit tests because of their rapid feedback when something goes wrong. However, this feedback requires most of the times reading the code for the failed test. Given this, what do you prefer? To read a single method or wander through several methods like SetUp/TearDown and private common methods. I say it again, do repeat yourself in unit tests. It may feel wrong at first but I bet you won’t regret it later.

In CountryController, I'm retrieving a list of countries from a CountryService that uses the $resource object. This works fine, but I want to be able to share the list of countries with the ClientController. After some research, I read that I should use the CountryService to store the data and inject that service into both controllers. I'd like the objects to have a pleasant back and forth swaying animation on the Z axis. Nodding to the right 30 degrees, then to the left 30 degrees, on and on. Here's what I've got... public class Rotator : MonoBehaviour { void Update () { transform.Rotate(new Vector3(0,0,12)*Time.deltaTime); } } This gives me a nice slow rotation. But I am clueless how to tell Unity to stop at +30 degrees, reverse to -30 degrees, rotate again to +30, stop and repeat, etc, etc. I'd really appreciate any help. Maybe there is a thread like this that I was not able to find? I assume it will involve some kind of 'if than' function? Thank you, Ryan

  • Repeat row headers after Page Break

    The lead developer of the FO engine send me by chance an email about a REALLY nice feature I did not know about. Did you ever encounter a long table with merged cells, where the merged cell went on to the next page? While column headers are by default repeated on the next page, row headers are not. Tables with group-left column and pivot tables are prime examples where this problem occurs. I have seen reports where merged cells could go over multiple pages and you would need to back to find the row header on previous pages. The BI Publisher RTF templates have a special tag you can added to a merged cell to repeat the contents after each page break. You just need to add the following (wordy) tag to the next merged table cell: true Example: 2nd page of report before adding the tag 2nd page of report after adding the tag.     Repeat Business obviously happens because the company has a great product or a great service. In the software industry, do companies make the code base complex enough so that the maintenance comes back to them? I have heard of cases where companies say "ya this code base has minor errors, let's ship them anyway, and let the customers come back for another change request on these". Then they would sometimes charge the customer for that. This question is specific to the software services industry. Do these things happen in the real world? I am trying to understand the business process.

  • AngularJS dealing with large data sets (Strategy)

    I am working on developing a personal temperature logging viewer based on my rasppi curl'ing data into my web server's api. Temperatures are taken every 2 seconds and I can have several temperature sensors posting data. Needless to say I will have a lot of data to handle even within the scope of an hour. I have implemented a very simple paging api from the server so the server doesn't timeout and is currently only returning data in 1000 units per call, then paging through the data. I had the idea to intially show say the last 20 minutes of data from a sensor (or all sensors depending on user choices), then allowing the user to select other timeframes from which to show data. The issue comes in when you want to view all sensors or an extended time period (say 24 hours). Is there a best practice of handling this large amount of data? Would it be useful to load those first 20 minutes into the live view and then cache into local storage something like the last 24 hours? I haven't been able to find a decent idea of this in use yet even though there are a lot of ways to take this problem. I am just looking for some suggestions as to what might provide a good balance between good performance and not caching the entire data set on the client side (as beyond a week of data this might not be feasible).

  • How can I show a count of rows from an ng-repeat?

    I have a table on my web page that is populated with data like this: <tr data-ng-repeat="row in grid.data | filter:isQuestionInRange"> <td>{{ row.problemId }}</td> </tr> Is there a way that I can put a count of the rows displayed in the table footer. Note that I want to be able to show the rows after that have been filtered not just the row count from the grid.data array.
