• Using LINQ to remove dupicates in dictionary and the count of those duplicates

  I have some code that returns unique elements in my dictionary, but I would also like to return the count of the duplicate elements. Basically change dictionary[key, uniqueelement] to dictionary[uniqueelement, count]. Here is my code that just returns the unique elements. var uniqueItems = deviceInstances.Children.GroupBy(pair => pair.Value.Information.UnderlyingDeviceType) .Select(group => group.First()) .ToDictionary(pair => pair.Key, pair => pair.Value.Information.UnderlyingDeviceType.ToString());

• iPad crashes that aren't happening on iPhone or iPod Touch

  Has anyone had difficulty getting what has otherwise been a solid iPhone app working on the iPad? I was under the impression that iPhone apps would run without problems on the iPad. We are are experiencing crashes (not intermittent - same place, at same time) that we've never gotten on the iPhone or iPod Touch. • Enable access for assistive device programmatically

  Hi All, I want to enable Access for assistive devices in System Preferences programmatically. But Problem is that my application is not running as root user and i do not want my application to be as root user and also should not ask for any authentication in between. I want to tap all keyboard events globally. I am using CGEventTapCreate() for the same.In the documentation of CGEventTapCreate() API it is mentioned that, Event taps receive key up and key down events if one of the following conditions is true: The current process is running as the root user. Access for assistive devices is enabled. In Mac OS X v10.4 & later, you can enable this feature using System Preferences, Universal Access panel, Keyboard view. I tried manually by checking the Enable Access for assistive devices from System Preference and it gives me expected output. So is there any way to do the same via program without asking for authentication and also application is not running as root user? Thanks, Dheeraj.

• Clustered index dilemma - ID or sort?

  I have a table with two very important fields: id INT identity(1,1) PRIMARY KEY identifiersortcode VARCHAR(900) My app always sorts and pages search results in the UI based on identifiersortcode, but all table joins (and they are legion) are on the id field. (Aside: yes, the sort code really is that long. There's a strong BL reason.) Also, due to O/RM use, most SELECT statements are going to pull almost every column. Currently, the clustered index is on id, but I'm wondering if the TOP / ORDER BY portion of most queries would make identifiersortcode a more attractive option as the clustered key, even considering all of the table joins going on. Inserts on the table and changes to the identifiersortcode are limited enough that changing my clustered index would be a problem for insert/update operations. Trying to make the sort code's non-clustered index a covering index (using INCLUDE) is not a good option. There are a number of large columns, and some of them have a lot of update activity.

  I have a MySQL table that represents data for a tree GUI component, here's the structure of my table: treeTable ( id INT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, parentId INT, name VARCHAR(255) ); parentId is a self-referencing foreign key. Now I want to write a stored procedure which gets a node id and returns a result set that contains that node and all of its parents. For example, suppose that my table has filled with this data: 1, null, 'root' 2, 1 , 'level_1' 3, 2 , 'level_2' Now I want to get all parent nodes of node 3 (nodes 1 and 2) and return a result set that contains all tree records. Can anybody help me please?

I've used a DocumentFilter so as to allow only 160 characters to be typed in the textarea but now, I want the size of the textarea to be constant. it goes on increasing if I keep writing on the same line without pressing 'enter' key or even when I keep on pressing only 'enter' key. I tried once using 'scrollbar' too but the problem remains same. Suggest me something over this.

  I am currently porting an application written in MySQL3 and PHP4 to MySQL5 and PHP5. On analysis I found several SQL queries which uses "select * from tablename" even if only one column(field) is processed in PHP. The table has almost 60 columns and it has a primary key. In most cases, the only column used is id which is the primary key. Will there be any performance boost if I use queries in which the column names are explicitly mentioned instead of * ? (In this application there is only one method which we need all the columns and all other methods return only a subset of the columns)

  Hello, In an app we are calculating a SHA1Hmac in java using the following: SecretKey key = new SecretKeySpec(secret, "HmacSHA1"); Mac m = Mac.getInstance("HmacSHA1"); m.init(secret); byte[] hmac = m.doFinal(data); And later, the hmac is verified in C# - on a SmartCard - using: HMACSHA1 hmacSha = new HMACSHA1(secret); hmacSha.Initialize(); byte[] hmac = hmacSha.ComputeHash(data); However, the result is not the same. Did I overlook something important? The inputs seem to be the same. Here some sample inputs: Data: 546573746461746131323341fa3c35 Key: 6d795472616e73616374696f6e536563726574 Result Java: 37dbde318b5e88acbd846775e38b08fe4d15dac6 Result C#: dd626b0be6ae78b09352a0e39f4d0e30bb3f8eb9 I wouldn't mind to implement my own hmacsha1 on both platforms, but using what already exists.... • NSTextField and hidden property

  Hi, I have an NSTextField that I hide when the user presses a button. I hide the text field using [textField setHidden:YES]; The problem is that is the user is typing in the text field (i.e. the text field is first responder) and the user presses the return key (which is the key equivalent for the button that hides the text field) the user can keep typing in the text field even though its not visible. How do I correctly remove a text field without actually deallocating it? Thanks.

  I'm new to Rails development and I'm starting with MongoDB also. I have been following this Railscast tutorial about complex forms with Rails but I'm using MongoDB as my database. • Auto Increment feature of SQL Server

  I have created a table named as ABC. It has three columns which are as follows:- The column number_pk (int) is the primary key of my table in which I have made the auto increment feature on for that column. Now I have deleted two rows from that table say Number_pk= 5 and Number_pk =6. The table which I get now is like this:- Now if I again enter two new rows in this table with the same value I get the two new Number_pk starting from 7 and 8 i.e, My question is that what is the logic behind this since I have deleted the two rows from the table. I know that a simple answer is because I have set the auto increment on for the primary key of my table. But I want to know is there any way that I can insert the two new entries starting from the last Number_pk without changing the design of my table? And how the SQL Server manage this record since I have deleted the rows from the database??

• Group by/count in LINQ against SQL Compact 3.5 SP2

  Hello, I am using LINQ-To-Entities in C# and run queries against a SQL Compact Server 3.5 SP2. What I try to achieve is a simple group by with an additional where clause which includes a Count(). var baseIdent="expression"; var found=from o in ObservedElements where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent==baseIdent group o by o.ID into grouped where grouped.Count()==1 select new {key=grouped.Key, val=grouped}; foreach(var res in found){ //do something here } This query throws the famous exception "A parameter is not allowed in this location. Ensure that the '@' sign and all other parameters are in a valid location in the SQL statement." When I either omit the where clause OR directly enter the expression "expression" in the query (where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent=="expression") everything just works fine. Does anybody know how to solve this? Workaround would also be fine? Thanks in advance, Sebastian

• how to change link url on the web browser's status bar.

  I already read many article about this issue in here, SO. I just want to discuss how to do it. NOT the moral issue. -- for example. at the google search webpage. before I click the link, the link does not indicate the google url. but After I click the link with shift-key, the url on the status bar is changed. this mean the google webpage indicate 'Fake URL'. the google compressed script is too difficult to read and analyze. # edited The second url should work on ie8 even if I click with ctrl key.

  While reskining GridView (ListView with more columns), I ran into a problem, that I couldn't change the color of the Highlighted row. I searched the internet and found out, that adding this can help. <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> This solved the issue for some people but it didnt help me. The Highlight color was still in system default. I finally managed to change the color of the selected row, but the highlight is still visible around the border of the row plus i need to get rid of the Highlight in the ColumnHeaders. • Is Eclipse Remote System Explorer broken on Windows?

  I have the following setup on Windows 7 Ultimate x64: Eclipse Indigo 2.7.2 (Build: M20120208-0800) Remote System Explorer 3.3.2 (see screenshot) (Oracle/Sun) Java 1.6 Update 31 (x86) Despite all my best efforts I am unable to connect to a remote system (a Centos 5.6 server on my local LAN) using a Remote System Explorer SSH connection - I've tried both password authentication and using my SSH private key. Here is a screenshot of both the Eclipse error dialogue and what is logged in my /var/log/secure log file: /var/log/secure: Apr 1 12:00:21 nagios sshd[6176]: Received disconnect from 172.16.3.88: 3: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth fail When I connect for the first time I do get prompted to verify the authenticity of the remote host and the RSA key fingerprint. But that's as far as things go. Performing the same operation with the same credentials on my Fedora Core 16 box (also running the same version of Eclipse and Java) to the same server is successful. This leads me to believe that RSE SSH support on Windows is either broken or there's some piece of the SSH-on-Windows puzzle I'm missing. Is this the case?

  Hello you all! I just made an application which purpose is to find an x result using the rule of three. It runs fine and everything but there is a small problem. I am using WinXP Europpean Spanish version. As we all know, in many europpean countries the decimal dot is changed by a " , " comma. When I use my application, it turns out that when I press the dot key on my keyboard´s number pad, my application doesnt take it as a normal decimal dot and it ignores it... so I need to manually press the comma key so it can give me the right answer. How can I solve this problem?
