  Case Management is a new addition to Oracle BPM in release 11.1.1.1.7 (PS6). This new release contains the Case Management engine, see blog Léon at  http://leonsmiers.blogspot.nl/ for more details.  However, currently this release does not contain a case portal. The case management API's, just like the already existing Oracle BPM API's, help in developing a portal page with relative ease. This blog will use some real life examples from the EURent casemanagement application and portal application developed by Oracle. The Oracle BPM Case Management API is a Java Based API that enables developers to programmatically access the new Case Management functionalities. It is an elaborate API that can access all the functionalities of Oracle Case Management. I will describe two of those functionalities in this blog: retrieving case data as DOM (http://www.w3.org/DOM/) and attaching a document to a case. Libraries First of all when creating a Case Management project you will need to attach the following libraries: These contain all the classes that are in the Case Management API. Service client To do anything with the BPM CaseManagement API in general it is necessary to create a CaseManagementServiceClient Object. The Case Management service client is the central piece of the Case Management API. It can be used to retrieve two different types of services. The first is the case stream service and the case service. The case stream service contains functionality to upload and download documents to and from a case. The second one is the CaseService. • Analyst Firm Gives Oracle Highest Rating for Local Government CRM

  Gartner, Inc. has given Oracle a rating of "Strong Positive," the highest possible ranking, in its report "MarketScope for Local Government CRM Products." The report compares the offerings of nine providers of CRM commercial off-the-shelf software for local government agencies. Gartner notes that a provider receiving a Strong Positive ranking must be a "provider of strategic products, services or solutions..." and recommends that "customers continue with planned investments and potential customers consider this vendor a strong choice for strategic investments." "Local governments today face tough challenges as they are tasked with reducing costs while at the same time providing citizens with services and information more quickly and efficiently than ever before. • Deploying Fusion Order Demo on 11.1.1.6 by Antony Reynolds

  Do you need to build a demo for a customer? Why not to use Fusion Order Demo (FOD) and modify it to do some extra things. Great idea, let me install it on one of my Linux servers I said "Turns out there are a few gotchas, so here is how I installed it on a Linux server with JDeveloper on my Windows desktop." Task 1: Install Oracle JDeveloper Studio I already had JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 with SOA extensions installed so this was easy. Task 2: Install the Fusion Order Demo Application First thing to do is to obtain the latest version of the demo from OTN, I obtained the R1 PS5 release. Gotcha #1 – my winzip wouldn’t unzip the file, I had to use 7-Zip. Task 3: Install Oracle SOA Suite On the domain modify the setDomainEnv script by adding “-Djps.app.credential.overwrite.allowed=true” to JAVA_PROPERTIES and restarting the Admin Server. Also set the JAVA_HOME variable and add Ant to the path. I created a domain with separate SOA and BAM servers and also set up the Node Manager to make it easier to stop and start components. • Exploring MDS Explorer by Mark Nelson

  Recently, I posted about my colleague Olivier’s MDS Explorer tool, which is a great way to get a look inside your MDS repository. I have been playing around with it a little bit, nothing much really, just some cosmetic stuff, but you might like to take a look at it. I made it format the documents nicely with proper indentation, and with line numbers and a nicer editor. It also will warn you if you are about to open a large document so that you know it has not crashed, but that you just have to be patient. And I added some icons and stuff. • ADF sessions at UKOUG conference by Grant Ronald

  For those in the UK, or those who have a few travel dollars left in their budget I just wanted to hi-light a couple of reasons you might want to present to your management as to why you should attend the UKOUG conference this year to get your ADF fill. Firstly, there are three days packed with the ADF content from the brightest minds in ADF-land. In no particular order, some of the stand out sessions for me will be: Duncan Mills presenting a keynote on the Future of Oracle's Fusion Development Luc Bors will be demoing ADF Mobile Frank Nimphius will be giving a tour around JDeveloper 12c Steven Davelaar of JHeadstart fame will be giving an insight on task flows and ADF Faces. Aino Andriessen will focus on build and deployment Frank Houweling will tell us how he can make your ADF application run 70% faster Chris Muir will give a masterclass on ADF architecture. In addition, the UKOUG will be running a 3 days of ADF Mobile hands-on sessions. Mobile is just about the hottest development topic at this time so this is an ideal opportunity to roll up your sleeves and build on-device mobile applications. There will also be a roundtable discussion on which development tool is right for you, and a roundtable on the strategic importance of ADF. Of course, the conference is not all about ADF; Tom Kyte will be there, Cliff Godwin (SVP who looks after Oracle Applications) and a host of others. • Camunda BPM 7.0 on WebLogic 12c

  If we go on tour together with Oracle I think we have to have camunda BPM running on the Oracle WebLogic application server 12c (WLS in short). And one of our enterprise customers asked - so I invested a Sunday and got it running (okay - to be honest - I needed quite some help from our Java EE server guru Christian). In this blog post I give a step by step description how run camunda BPM on WLS. Please note that this is not an official distribution (which would include a sophisticated QA, a comprehensive documentation and a proper distribution) - it was my personal hobby. And I did not fire the whole test suite agains WLS - so there might be some issues. We will do the real productization as soon as we have a customer for it (let us know if this is interesting for you). Necessary steps After installing and starting up WLS (I used the zip distribution of WLS 12c by the way) you have to do: Add a datasource Add shared libraries Add a resource adapter (for the Job Executor using a proper WorkManager from WLS) Add an EAR starting up one process engine Add a WAR file containing the REST API Add other WAR files (e.g. cockpit) and your own process applications Actually that sounds more work to do than it is ;-) So let's get started: Add a datasource Add a datasource via the Administration Console (or any other convenient way on WLS - I should admit that personally I am not the WLS expert).   Like most companies, aerospace giant Boeing has its jargon - words and phrases that uniquely define its products and processes. Take the word platform. It is used at Boeing to mean a family of aircraft - the F/A-18 fighter, for example, or the 777 jetliner. Boeing Defense, Space & Security since August 2009, employees in the Global Services & Support (GS&S) division of Boeing Defense, Space & Security have been talking about a different sort of platform: a supply chain technology platform, based on Oracle Business Process Management (Oracle BPM) solutions and Oracle SOA Suite. • PASS Summit 2013 - A Bunch of Blog Posts Recently
