    The question is pretty simple, is it possible to create a FIPS 140-2 compliant server in Perl? Especially, is it possible without modifying any of the C code for the modules? If it's not possible in straight Perl, what would be the easiest way to go about it from a C perspective? I'm basically creating a mini-httpd that only serves up a single file, but due to security restrictions it needs to be served up on SSL under FIPS compliance.

  • Why does the web page I fetch with Perl look odd?

    I have a Perl script to open this page http://svejo.net/popular/all/new/ and filter the names of the posts but except headers everything seems encrypted. Nothing can be read. When I open the same page in a browser everything looks fine including the source code. How is it possible to encrypt a page for a script and not for a browser? My Perl script sends the same headers as my browser (Google Chrome).

    I need to write a Perl script that pipes input into a Java program. This is related to this, but that didn't help me. My issue is that the Java app doesn't get the print statements until I close the handle. What I found online was that $| needs to be set to something greater than 0, in which case newline characters will flush the buffer. This still doesn't work.   • How to avoid escaping by accident in PERL using system()?

    I want to run some commands using the system() command, I do this way: execute_command_error("trash-put '/home/$filename'"); Where execute_command_error will report if there was an error with whatever system command it ran. I know I could just unlink the file using Perl commands, but I want to delete stuff using trash-put as it's a type of recycling program. My problem is that $filename will sometimes have apostrophes, quotes, and other weird characters in it that mess up the system command or Perl itself.

  • Thread-safety in Cocos2d-iPhone?

    After tinkering a bit with cocos2d, I discovered that there is no classic game loop and everything is more-or-less event driven. I guess I can wrap my head around that, no problem. But I cannot find anything about thread safety. Say, I schedule something to occur every two seconds, which Thread will run the code? Given that I cannot find anything about that, I guess there is just one Cocos2d Thread and everything will be fine. Nevertheless, this implicit assumption does not give me a good feeling. Knowing is better than guessing. ;-) Can anyone shed some light onto that topic?

    I am trying to get munin to notify me via email. I have configured munin and it reports critical and warning values but no alerts are being sent neither is any script being called. Can you please help me out with this? I would like the Django app to get first call and so would want its URL path to be / This would allow me to add any new URLs to the urls.py I wish as my app grows. If the URL doesn't match anything in the urls.py I would like it to get passed to the static Perl app. For example /app1 - Django /app2 - Django Everything else not picked up by urls.py I would want going to my Perl app For example: /index.html - Static/Perl app /about.html - Static/Perl app /contact.html - Static/Perl app /apps/perlapp1.cgi - Static/Perl app etc How do I go about achieving this in Webfaction?

  • DBD::mysql gives mysql_init not found

    I have to install a non-admin copy of mysql and perl module DBD::mysql in my home directory. I installed mysql in ~/software/db/mysql and this works since I can start and stop the server and go to the mysql prompt. Then, I downloaded the perl module and installed it using perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=~/myperl/ LIB=~/myperl/lib/lib64/perl5/ --mysql_config=/my_home/software/db/mysql/bin/mysql_config --libs=/myhome/software/db/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a make make install I did this to use the statically linked mysql client library. perl -MDBD::mysql -e 1 gives no errors. However, when I actually try to use the module, I get /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /myhome/myperl/lib/lib64/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so: undefined symbol: mysql_init
