  • Mount CIFS share gives "mount error 127 = Key has expired"

    - by djk
Hi, I'm currently replicating the setup of a CentOS box an am running into a strange error while trying to mount a samba share that resides on a NAS. The error I'm getting is: mount error 127 = Key has expired Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs) The settings are identical to the old machine, the password is definitely correct as well. I have googled the issue of course, and looked at every single page that references this issue (not that many) and have still not found an answer. The older CentOS box is using version 3.0.28-0.el4.9 of Samba and the one I'm trying to setup now is 3.0.33-3.7.el5_3.1. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it's certainly one of the only differences between the 2 setups. When I try the mount command this appears in the syslog: Sep 8 10:51:54 helvetica2 kernel: Status code returned 0xc0000072 NT_STATUS_ACCOUNT_DISABLED Sep 8 10:51:54 helvetica2 kernel: CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -127 Sep 8 10:51:54 helvetica2 kernel: CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -127 The account is very much not disabled as it works on the old box using the same credentials. Has anyone else seen this problem? Thanks!

  • Could not start ZK at requested port of 2181, while export HBASE_MANAGES_ZK=false

    - by utrecht
Problem The first aim was to run HBase standalone. Navigating to ip:60010/master-status is succesfull once HBase has been started. The second aim is to run a distinct ZooKeeper quorum. ZooKeeper has been downloaded and has been started: netstat -nato | grep 2181 tcp 0 0 :::2181 :::* LISTEN off (0.00/0/0) The conf/hbase-env.sh was changed as follows: # Tell HBase whether it should manage it's own instance of Zookeeper or not. export HBASE_MANAGES_ZK=false in order to avoid HBase starts ZooKeeper once HBase has been started. However, the following error occurs once HBase has been started. Could not start ZK at requested port of 2181. ZK was started at port: 2182. Aborting as clients (e.g. shell) will not be able to find this ZK quorum. Question How to disable the startup of ZooKeeper by HBase and run ZooKeeper separately?

  • Should I switch my server to Ubuntu Server from Windows Server 2003

    - by user22162
I have a server thats primarily used for SRCDS, I host a few Team Fortress 2 servers on it and I would much prefer a ssh-like (more so the no-gui part) for something like this, mostly because I can't navigate with my phone on VNC very well and also because there really is no need for a gui in this situation. I sort of want to make the switch but I am unsure, because my server 2003 is very fast and If I do need to reboot, it can reboot in under 30 seconds to desktop. Should I switch?

  • Strange permission errors in new PostgreSQL installation

    - by Bart van Heukelom
A freshly installed PostgreSQL (with configuration overwritten) won't start: $ sudo service postgresql start * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * Error: could not read /etc/postgresql/9.1/main/postgresql.conf: Permission denied Looks like it should be able to read it though: $ ls -l postgresql.conf -rw------- 1 postgres postgres 19450 2012-06-14 10:07 postgresql.conf But fine, I'll add chmod +r it to test if that works. $ sudo chmod +r postgresql.conf $ sudo service postgresql start * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Please check the log output: Error: Could not open log file /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.1-main.log Huh? $ ls -l /var/log/postgresql/ total 4 -rw-r----- 1 postgres adm 827 2012-06-14 10:07 postgresql-9.1-main.log I don't get it. What can be wrong here? This used to work before. Can I maybe monitor what process attempts to open the file? It's Ubuntu 11.10 on EC2, using Chef. For completeness, here's the recipe: # Install PostgreSQL package "postgresql-9.1" # Stop server service "postgresql" do action :stop end # Overwrite configuration (setting data dir) template "/etc/postgresql/9.1/main/postgresql.conf" do source "postgresql-conf.erb" owner "postgres" group "postgres" end # Start server service "postgresql" do action :start end

  • iPad connections to Cisco VPN error -- "Enter your user authentication"

    - by rhart
Is anyone else having problems with the iPad IPSec (Cisco) VPN configuration? I've configured a Cisco VPN connection to a PIX 501 firewall on a 32GB Wifi Apple iPad. This is done in Settings - General - Network - VPN - Add VPN Configuration - IPSec tab. When everything is set up properly and I attempt to connect I just get a popup that says "Enter your user authentication" with no fields to enter either piece of info, and just OK and Cancel buttons. I've read about similar problems with the VPN client built into Mac OS X and the iPhone 3GS but never with the iPad. Does anybody know a solution? I'm not afraid to change the configuration of my PIX 501 if that's necessary.

  • Errors when switching to specific static IP

    - by michaelc
I had a Fedora box running using my static IP 69.169.136.6, etc, all configured according to what the ISP required. Just recently the hard drive failed (and I should have been keeping better backups) - while it is being recovered I would like to put up a webpage on my Archlinux PC explaining the problem - I presently do not have sufficient access to change the DNS record assigned to the domain. When I change my ip address while my system is running to 69.169.136.6, ifconfig reports the new ip address, but http://whatismyip.com/ does not. When I change it and reboot, I can't ping - the message I recieve is "connect: Network is unreachable" (when given one of google.com 's IP addresses - hostnames give me ping: unknown host xxx). Until I have access to the DNS system, what can I do to make this work? Edit: With new IP address, same problem, IP is now 69.169.136.29. Some commands might be useful: #ping 69.169.136.1 PING 69.169.136.1 (69.169.136.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 69.169.136.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.377 ms #ping 69.169.190.211 connect: Network is unreachable #ping 208.72.160.67 connect: Network is unreachable #ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4D:97:23:9B inet addr:69.169.136.29 Bcast:69.169.137.255 Mask:255.255.254.0 inet6 addr: fe80::2e0:4dff:fe97:239b/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:132091 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:17 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:9635179 (9.1 Mb) TX bytes:1322 (1.2 Kb) Interrupt:29 Base address:0x6000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:48 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:48 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:2480 (2.4 Kb) TX bytes:2480 (2.4 Kb) #ip route 69.169.136.0/23 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 69.169.136.29 #cat /etc/resolv.conf # Generated by dhcpcd #nameserver 208.67.222.222 #nameserver 208.67.220.220 nameserver 69.169.190.211 nameserver 208.72.160.67 # /etc/resolv.conf.tail can replace this line Update: have new static IP addresses, verified to work in Windows... • `# probe: true` in /etc/rc.d/init.d/* files on a RedHat system

    - by Chen Levy
Some files (e.g. nfs, nfslock, bind) in my /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory have in their comment header a line such as: # probe: true I found that those particular scripts has the probe verb i.e.: service nfs probe But this is due to the fact that the mentioned scripts has code that deals with the probe verb. I find no mention of the # probe: true notation in chkconfig man page, nor in any related man pages. Googleing for it also didn't help. Is there a real significance for that line, or is it pure documentation?

  • Nagios Creating lots of zombie process

    In my monitoring box, I have lots of zombie process created by nagios and they gets remove quickly also. I am using active checks to perform monitoring of my servers. I accumulated the defunct processes created using the following command: $ top -d 0.25 -b -n 20 > topout.txt This collected the output of top with 0.25s delay 20 times. I did grep on the topout.txt for the defunct process. $ cat topout.txt | grep defunct I get the following output. 8957 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 6.0 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 8951 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 8954 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 8945 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 8946 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 8980 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9000 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 nagios <defunct> 9024 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 7.0 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9025 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.5 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9040 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.1 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9086 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9087 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9123 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 6.1 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9126 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9131 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9091 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.05 nagios <defunct> 9111 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9119 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9118 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9151 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 2.9 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9153 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 2.9 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9150 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9164 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.5 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9171 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.5 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9154 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9156 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9163 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9167 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9178 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 3.8 0.0 0:00.02 nagios <defunct> 9174 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9179 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> 9182 nagios 20 0 0 0 0 Z 0.0 0.0 0:00.01 nagios <defunct> Can somebody help me in finding out the reason of these zombie processes and how i can prevent these zombie processes ?

  • iftop - how to generate text file with its output?

    - by mickula
iftop is great tool to view almost live bandwidth usage distinguished by source-ip source-port destination-ip destination port. I'm using it to see which client's ip is using most bandwidth. Now I would like to store output somewhere. iftop uses ncurses so iftop > log.txt does not work as expected, result file is not readable. Is there any tool like this which can be used to pipe output to a text file? Thanks for your replies.

  • Redhat Software RAID 1 not syncing

    - by hamstar
Hey guys, I setup a software RAID 1 on a Redhat server, everything went sweet and it synced the first time. The other day the raid failedover for some reason and the disks hadn't been syncing since that first time, so it went back to 2 weeks ago when we did the first sync. We got the system back up running off the master only. However what would cause the software raid to not sync? I used mdadm to setup the RAID. Any ideas? EDIT: Sorry I don't have the output from /proc/mdstat before the raid failedover, it is now running on only the master... I can put the slave back in no problems but I was wondering how to make it sync all the time instead of only when I add it.

  • LVM mirror attempt results in "Insufficient free space"

    - by MattK
Attempting to add a disk to mirror an LVM volume on CentOS 7 always fails with "Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available". Having searched for a solution, I have tried specifying disks, multiple logging options, adding 3rd log partition, but have not found a solution Not sure if I am making a rookie mistake, or there is something more subtle wrong (I am more familiar with ZFS, new to using LVM): # lvconvert -m1 centos_bi/home Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available # lvconvert -m1 --corelog centos_bi/home Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available # lvconvert -m1 --corelog --alloc anywhere centos_bi/home Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available # lvconvert -m1 --mirrorlog mirrored --alloc anywhere centos_bi/home /dev/sda2 Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available # lvconvert -m1 --corelog --alloc anywhere centos_bi/home /dev/sdi2 /dev/sda2 Insufficient free space: 1 extents needed, but only 0 available The two disks are of the same size, and have identical partition layouts via "sfdisk -d /dev/sdi part_table; sfdisk /dev/sda < part_table". • Dual NIC Networking CentOS 5.3 (losing connection)

    - by Toymakerii
I have a CentOS System with two NICs on it. One is Ethernet the other is Wireless. The Ethernet has an address of 192.168.1.110 and is tied to a LAN. (The LAN provides DHCP and DNS for its domain of 192.168.1.*) The Wireless card should have an address of 131.238.. and is tied to the WAN. For some evil reason, I can get the WAN to work for a short amount of time then it suddenly dies. I have to turn on/off the connection to get it to work again. Any suggestions?

  • Permission denied: /home/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file

    - by phoebebright
This domain was working this morning, now I get a 403 error and the message above in my error log. I'm not using .htaccess files but I have been doing some copy on the server so may have messed things up but no changes to this domain (unless by accident!). What is this pcfg_openfile thing anyway? Done lots of googleing but none of the solutions seemed to fit these circumstances. Server is ubuntu Hardy Heron.

  • L2TP iptables port forward
