  • Quicksilver quit launching Xcode

    Hi everyone, I've been launching Xcode from Quicksilver quite happily for weeks. Suddenly late yesterday, without changing either Xcode or Quicksilver, it started appearing like this: Screenshot There's no "open" option in the action list anymore. I rebooted with no joy. All my other applications launch. Xcode still launches from Spotlight. It just seems to be any app under /Developer/Applications. Any suggestions? cheers,Step

  • Avoid linux out-of-memory application teardown

    I'm finding that on occasion my Linux box runs out of memory and it starts tearing down random processes to deal with it. I'm curious what administrators do to avoid this? Is the only real solution to up the amount of memory (will upping the swap alone help?), or is there better ways to set up the box with software to avoid this? (i.e., quotas, or some such?).     Could someone explain to me why this does not work? Import-Module ActiveDirectory $dcs = Get-ADComputer -Filter {DistinguishedName -Like "*Domain Controllers*"} I get no results for this query. Alternatively, could someone suggest a way using the module above that I can generate a list of systems on my domain that are NOT Domain Controllers (which is what I'm eventually trying to achieve). How can i connect a telephone line into the server? so we can ring in and get our emails via phone (we have a spare direct line) I'm going to guess it's not as easy as sticking a 56k modem into the server? We would like to use a DNS service to direct users to the nearest server, but can't find any. Does anyone have an recommendations for solutions.   • Google Chrome Interferes with Copy and Paste in Excel

    I have got a following problem: Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) function in Excel 2010 does not work (or acts weirdly) is I have Google Chrome opened at the same time. This issue is Excel-specific meaning that in Word or Powerpoint copy/paste works fine. It is also Chrome- and CoolNovo-specific as the copy/paste in Excel does not interfere with other internet browsers. Any suggestions? Cheers, Dan

  • ubuntu gnome short cut keys

    Hi, I have done something quite silly and not sure how to fix it. I modified some of the gnome keyboard short cuts and was trying to disable the "Run Application" command. In the process I assigned it to the delete key and every time I hit delete the "Run Application" window comes up. It would not normally be a problem but the "Keyboard Shortcuts" no long has the short cut in the window so I can't disable it. Any help advice would be appreciated. Cheers Ben

  • SSL certificate only valid when viewed externally

    We have a SSL certificate installed on our server. When viewed externally it validates correctly, however when the website is viewed from the server it gets an invalid certificate error. We are using the fully qualified domain name to access it for both? Is there any reason this should be happening? Cheers.

  • Windows update deleting Sticky Notes (StikyNot.exe)?

    Got a win7 computer for xmas and like the Sticky Notes But twice now, after running an automatic update, the sticky notes disappeared Managed to navigate system restore and recover it, but what a pain in the butt. The update seems to be deleting the exe, but I haven't been able to find any info on why. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how to prevent it happening again? Cheers

    I've install apache2 on an Unbuntu 12.04 machine, but I can't get the server to start at boot time. Although I've tried many things : reinstall apache2 run update-rc.d apache2 enable But each time the apache2 is not start after boot time : I get nothing with a pgrep apache2 or a ps -e | grep apache2 UPDATE I've also tried the logging tweak suggested in another related post, but no entries at all can be found in /var/log/syslog What could I do to make it work ?     Hey, I have a laptop with Windows Vista Basic. It won't boot. I have tried an automatic repair with the installation disc but the error cannot be repaired automatically. According to the test results the registry is corrupt. I have found this guide on how to recover from a corrupt registry with Windows XP here.   • Apple Quicktime skips during video playback

    Hi, I'm on Windows XP SP3, and I'm running Apple Quicktime v7.6.5. When viewing MPEG-4 videos, every 30 seconds or so, the playback will halt for 5 seconds, and then resume at a point 10 seconds or so into the future. In essence, it is freezing and skipping. Any ideas how to combat this? My laptop is an NEC Versa, with graphics supplied by a mobile Intel 915gm/gms,910gml express chipset family. Cheers.

    I want to create an account that will perform the following: Join computers to a domain (not restricted to 10, like a normal user) Check for computer accounts in AD Delete computers from AD Move computers between OUs I don't want to allow it to do anything else, so don't want a domain admin account. While it is quite good i would like to pull the information from the monitor onto my home server, so i can get more detailed information and maybe graph it using mrtg or similar. I've had a look into using pgpool II for clustering the db to relieve a little strain, and I was wondering how this should be done to minimise downtime considering I would be clustering a live database.   • Server unable to communicate OUT, fine serving traffic

    We have several servers that are randomly loses the ability to communicate out to other nodes on the local network and internet. However websites are being served fine and we still have ssh access. A reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days. The servers are running 10.5.X and are fully up to date with software updates. Does anyone have any opinions, we think it is probably an ISP router, but we are guessing. Cheers Jono
