  • Fitting a gamma distribution with (python) Scipy

    - by Archanimus
Hi folks, Can anyone help me out in fitting a gamma distribution in python? Well, I've got some data : X and Y coordinates, and I want to find the gamma parameters that fit this distribution... In the Scipy doc, it turns out that a fit method actually exists but I don't know how to use it :s.. first, in wich format the argument "data" must be, and how can I provide the seconde argument (the parameters) since this what I'm looking for ??? Thanks a lot!

  • Calling Python from Ruby

    - by Yktula
Would it be possible to integrate Python and Ruby with some degree of transparency? I've looked at http://www.goto.info.waseda.ac.jp/~fukusima/ruby/python/doc/ , but it seems rather outdated. Perhaps this is not an appropriate approach, but would it be possible to generate a Ruby interface for Python's C API?

  • Openning Blob Data stored in Sqlite as a File with Tcl/Tk

    - by dmullins
Hello: I am using the following tcl code to store a file from my deskstop into a Sqlite database as blob data ($fileText is a path to a text file): sqlite3 db Docs.db set fileID [open $fileText RDONLY] fconfigure $fileID -translation binary set content [read $fileID] close $fileID db eval {insert into Document (Doc) VALUES ($content)} db close I have found many resources on how to open the blob data to read and write to it, but I cannot find any resources on openning the blob data as a file. • Create Word/RTF file with table of contents from Java

    - by Glen
Hi, I want to create a Word or RTF file with a table of contents (with links to each section) from Java. From my understanding, iText & Apache POI do not support generating a table of contents. Some clients of the app still use older versions of Word, so I need a library that supports the older Word doc format. Does anyone know how I can do this? Thanks, Glen

  • When to use a namespace or a struct?

    - by Justen
I was just reading a little bit on them from http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/namespaces/ and it seems like a struct is capable of the same things? Or even a class for that matter. Maybe someone here can better define what a namespace is, and how it differs from a struct/class?

  • Noob LINQ - reading, filtering XML with XDocument

    - by user316117
I'm just learning XDocument and LINQ queries. Here's some simple XML (which doesn't look formatted exactly right in this forum in my browser, but you get the idea . . .) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <quiz xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.example.com/name XMLFile2.xsd" title="MyQuiz1"> <q_a> <q_a_num>1</q_a_num> <q_>Here is question 1</q_> <_a>Here is the answer to 1</_a> </q_a> <q_a> <q_a_num>2</q_a_num> <q_>Here is question 2</q_> <_a>Here is the answer to 2</_a> </q_a> </quiz> I can iterate across all elements in my XML file and display their Name, Value, and NodeType in a ListBox like this, no problem: XDocument doc = XDocument.Load(sPath); IEnumerable<XElement> elems = doc.Descendants(); IEnumerable<XElement> elem_list = from elem in elems select elem; foreach (XElement element in elem_list) { String str0 = "Name = " + element.Name.ToString() + ", Value = " + element.Value.ToString() + ", Nodetype = " + element.NodeType.ToString(); System.Windows.Controls.Label strLabel = new System.Windows.Controls.Label(); strLabel.Content = str0; listBox1.Items.Add(strLabel); } ...but now I want to add a "where" clause to my query so that I only select elements with a certain name (e.g., "qa") but my element list comes up empty. I tried . . . IEnumerable<XElement> elem_list = from elem in elems where elem.Name.ToString() == "qa" select elem; Could someone please explain what I'm doing wrong? (and in general are there some good tips for debugging Queries?) Thanks in advance!

i have seen some parsing code, thats really long, but it doesn't involve replacing stuff inside an opened file using file_get_contents() for example. im talking about say parsing a .doc into .html format, they read the file then output it in html. i have tried this using arrays and preg_replace but it just doesn't seem as clean as other code. anyone know the basic concept of parsing? thanks, tell me if im not clear
