  • Why does my monitor have a black screen but the power light is blinking green?

    I have a ViewSonic VA912b 19" display I use as a secondary monitor. When I turn it on, the power light is green for a few seconds, and then switches to blinking green. The display stays black. Windows thinks the monitor is on, as it shows up in the control panel as a second monitor. If I unplug the DVI cable, it displays a "No Signal" message and the power light goes to amber, which means it went to sleep.

  • trouble when shutdown or restart in windows xp getting a black screen asking to try and start windows normally or safe mode than it runs a chk disk

    I recently reinstalled windows xp on my dell latitude d410 laptop, everything works fine as long as I don't shut down, when I do, I get a black screen with a list of choices, it gives me the option of trying to start windows normally or different safe modes, than a blue screen comes up and runs a check disk, it even ask me to pick a restore point the last time, which I did, I'm afraid to turn the computer off or restart it, what could be wrong?

    Having CSS layout issues with Internet Explorer 7 (big surprise). Upon using the Developer Tools to inspect the CSS, I discovered that some properties defined in the stylesheet are not appearing in the parsed CSS structure... THEN I saw THIS being shown as the parsed value for the background-image property: background-image : url(/trunk/httpdocs/images/layout/HCBL_Homepage_01.jpg); WIDTH: 1200px; pretty much obliterating the width that was defined property. The actual code in the CSS file for this element: div#header { width: 1200px; height: 100px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; background-image: url('/trunk/httpdocs/images/layout/HCBL_Homepage_01.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; } If anyone could offer any insight, or provide a link describing this problem (and maybe a workaround...) I would be very appreciative. Also, I am only interested in this from a parsing of the stylesheet and CSS syntax perspective. I am not concerned with rendering and display issues at the moment; I simply want to get IE 7 (and I have a feeling IE 6 will have similar issues) to recognize and parse ALL of the CSS properties that have been defined in the stylesheet.     My company's standard paper has logo, address and all the details in the right margin with a vertical blue line. I have that as a word template. I want to have the same thing as the background of my Invoices report. I managed to do that 5 years ago by saving to EMF format (vector format, prints out nicely) and putting the file as the background of the report. Now my company is moving, and I need to change the address on my invoices, but I can't find out how I did to convert the word doc to EMF. Any suggestion ?     I'm running a script in the background which loads an image with feh depending on which application is currently in focus. However, whenever the script opens the image, window focus is lost to feh. I was able to circumvent this by using xdotool to switch back to the application that was originally in focus, but this introduces a short annoying period of time where the focus is switched from feh to the application. Right now it's the same image but repeated, so it looks like the same image three times in a row. I would like it to be so that the three images/screens combine to show one image if that makes sense. I did install the command line utilities, and so I am able to start wireshark and capture packet using the command line. They are quite simply light grey buttons with a slightly darker outer border: input.button { background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; } This looks just right in Firefox, Safari and Opera. The problem is with Internet Explorer, both 6 and 7. Since the form is the first one on the page, it's counted as the main form - and thus active from the get go. The first submit button in the active form receives a solid black border in IE, to mark it as the main action. If I turn off borders, then the black extra border in IE goes away too. I am looking for a way to keep my normal borders, but remove the outline.
