  • TabBar / "More View Controller" - Possible to have icons in colors other than black?

    Hi, Is it possible to have the icons in a TabBar and / or the "More navigation controller" be in colors other than grey and black? I tried changing the color of the icon I set for the view controller using UITabBarItem's - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title image:(UIImage *)image tag:(NSInteger)tag method. My client thinks the interface is too dark and want's to brighten it up with some colorful icons... Thanks!

    Dear experts, I download the Android code and "make sdk" to build out my own SDK, but the emulator from this SDK does not work well -- it only shows the black window with the "ANDROID" string, but I can't see any desktop picture or any applications. what's wrong here? anyone could please provide me a hint?   • Django: url and content creation results in 500 and no apache error log entry

    If i try to open a created url i get an 500 error. My procedure was: First python manage.py startapp black I added in project/settings.py under INSTALLED_APPS 'black', I added in project/urls.py url(r'^test/', include('black.urls')), Content of black/urls.py is: from django.conf.urls import patterns, url from black import views urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^$', views.index, name='index') ) And content of black/views.py: from django.http import HttpResponse def index(request): return HttpResponse("SHOW ME: BLACK") After all i synced the database. I can't see any error in apache-error-log and also not in my posted django files. What could cause this?

  • Increasing touch surface (#wp7dev)

    When you design for Windows Phone 7 (or for any touch device, for that matter, and most especially small screens), you need to be very careful to give enough surface to your users’ fingers. It is easy to miss a touch on such small screens, and that can be horrifyingly frustrating. This is especially true when people are on the move, and trying to hit the control while walking and holding their device in one hand, or when the device is mounted in a car and vibrating with the engine. In my experience, a touch surface should be ideally minimum 60x60 pixels to be easy to activate on the Windows Phone 7 screen (which is, as we know, 800 pixels x 480 pixels). Ideally, I try to make my touch surfaces 80x80 pixels minimum. This causes a few design challenges of course. Using transparent backgrounds However, one thing is helping us tremendously: some surfaces can be made transparent, and yet react to touch. The secret is the following: If you have a panel that has a Null background (i.e. the Background is not set at all), then the empty surface does not react to touch. If however the Background is set to the Transparent color (or any color where the Alpha channel is set to 0), then it will react to touch. Setting a transparent background is easy. For example: <Grid Background="#00000000"> </Grid> or <Grid Background="Transparent"> </Grid> In C#: var grid = new Grid { Background = new SolidColorBrush( Colors.Transparent) }; Using negative margins Having a transparent background reactive to touch is a good start, but in addition, you must make sure that the surface is big enough for my clumsy fingers. One way to achieve that is to increase the transparent, touch-reactive surface, and reposition the element using negative margins. For example, consider the following UI. I changed the transparent background of the HyperlinkButton to Red, in order to visualize the touch surface. In this figure, the Settings HyperlinkButton is 105 pixels x 31 pixels. This is wide enough, but really small in height and easy to miss. To improve this, we can use negative margins, for instance: <HyperlinkButton Content="Settings" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Height="60" Margin="0,0,0,-15" /> Notice the usage of negative bottom margin to bring the HyperlinkButton back at the bottom of the main Grid’s first row, where it belongs. And the result is: Notice how the touch surface is much bigger than before. This makes the HyperlinkButton easier to reach, and improves the user experience. With the background set back to normal, the UI looks exactly the same, as it should: In summary: Remember to maximize the touch surface for your controls. Plan your design in consequence by reserving enough room around each control to allow their hit surface to be expanded as shown in this article. Do not cram too many controls in one page. If REALLY needed, use an additional page (or even better: use a Pivot control with multiple pivot items) for the controls that don’t fit on the first one.     Hi I wrote this cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; in this method - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; but I can only see it when I select that cell otherwise it's not visible.and it work perfectly when background is white. I am sure that I need to set a property, but I don't know which property I need to change to make this thing work. thanks in advance. cheers.

  • Setting treeview background color in VB6 has a flaw - help?

    I have successfully implemented this method of using the Win32 API to set the background color of a treeview in VB 6: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178491 However, one thing goes wrong: when you expand the tree nodes more than two levels deep, the area to the left of (and sometimes under) the inner plus [+] and minus [-] signs is still white. Does anyone know how to get this area to the correct background color, too? Note: I'm also setting the BackColor of each node, and also the BackColor of the treeview's imagelist.   • How can I kill and wait for background processes to finish in a shell script when I Ctrl+C it?

    I'm trying to set up a shell script so that it runs background processes, and when I ctrl+C the shell script, it kills the children, then exits. The best that I've managed to come up with is this. It appears that kill 0 -INT also kills the script before the wait happens, so the shell script dies before the children complete. Any ideas on how I can make this shell script wait for the children to die after sending INT? #!/bin/bash trap 'killall' INT killall() { echo **** Shutting down... **** kill 0 -INT wait # Why doesn't this wait?? echo DONE } process1 & process2 & process3 & cat # wait forever

    I am having a problem setting the background of UITableView to a UIImageView (see below for why I am doing this), once the view is set, it works fine, and scrolls with the UITableView, but it hides the elements of the Table View. I need to have a UIImageView as the background for a UITableView. I know this has been answered before, but the answers are to use: [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; Or something like (which I need to use): UIImageView *background = [MainWindow generateBackgroundWithFrame:tableView.bounds]; [tableView addSubview:background]; [tableView sendSubviewToBack:background]; The reason I need to use the latter is because of my generateBackgroundWithFrame method, which takes a large image, and draws a border around that image to the dimensions specified, and clips the remainder of the image: + (UIImageView *) generateBackgroundWithFrame: (CGRect)frame { UIImageView *background = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; background.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"globalBackground.png"]; [background.layer setMasksToBounds:YES]; [background.layer setCornerRadius:10.0]; [background.layer setBorderColor:[[UIColor grayColor] CGColor]]; [background.layer setBorderWidth:3.0]; return background; } Please note: I understand that this might poorly effect performance, but I don't have the resources to go through and make those images for each potential screen in the app. Please do not answer this question with a mindless "you shouldn't do this" response.     Hello, I'm trying to set the width of table column to a minimum value. The header row (th) was set white-space:nowrap to prevent wrapping. Now all the columns (including td rows) set to a width that of th. I tried to expand the size of smaller columns by setting it in the html as <th style="width:200px;"> and <td style="width:200px;">, but it has no effect. In firebug, in the style section, the width setting is active element.style { width:200px; } Still, the computed tab shows the width is less than 200px. But when I close terminal window (log off), of course, CentOS Linux kills my program. I see two guesses: run from a different user in background or make a daemon. I need help in each situation.   • Beginning GWT and Java - wich is the best route when coming from LAMP background?

    Hi! I've worked a lot with php/mysql on linux servers, including frameworks, orm etc. Now I want to give GWT and Java a try! Installing GWT SDK, Eclipse plugin etc and running a "Hello world" is no problem... The server is running automagically in the background... But when it comes to setting it up my self, there seems to be confusingly many options. Jetty? Tomcat? Glassfish? How are those related/combinable to/with Apache? Are there any good resources or tutorials for setting up java development and server environments suited for one like me with PHP background? Maybe pointing out the possiblities of running PHP and Java on the same server? Regards / Jonas
