• ASP.NET Create zip file for download: the compressed zipped folder is invalid or corrupted

When I navigate to the directory c:\temp\ and double-click on the test.zip file; it opens right up. My problem seems only to be with the download. The code above executes without any issue. A file download dialog is presented. I can chose to either save or open. If I try to open the file from the dialog, or save it and then open it. I get the following dialog message: The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted. For Response.ContentType I've tried: application/x-compressed application/x-zip-compressed application/x-gzip-compresse application/octet-stream application/zip The zip file is being created with some prior code (that I'm sure is working fine due to my ability to open the created file directly) using: Ionic.zip http://www.codeplex.com/DotNetZip

• Setting custom WCF-binding behaviour via .config file - why doesn't this work?

  I am attempting to insert a custom behavior into my service client, following the example here. I appear to be following all of the steps, but I am getting a ConfigurationErrorsException. Is there anyone more experienced than me who can spot what I'm doing wrong?   I have an ASMX web service running under IIS7 in classic mode. I suppose it's time to burn up one of our support tickets with Microsoft.

• Export to Excel from ASP.NET produces files unreadable with Excel Viewer

  Hi, I want to output some dynamic data from an ASP.NET website to Excel. I found that the easiest way which does not require to use Excel XML or to install Excel on server machine is to output data as a table and specify application/vnd.ms-excel type. The problem is when I do so and try to open the file in Excel Viewer, I receive the following error message: Microsoft Excel Viewer cannot open files of this type. Then nothing is opened. • Filemaker to SQL Server via SSIS

  I'm using SSIS and trying to import data from Filelmaker into SQL Server. In the Solution Explorer, I right click on "SSIS Packages" and select SQL Server Import and Export Wizard". During the process, I use my DSN as the source, SQL Server as the destination, use a valid query to pull data from Filemaker, and set the mappings. Each time I try to run the package, I receive the following message: The "output column "LastNameFirst" (12)" has a length that is not valide. The length must be between 0 and 4000. I do not understand this error exactly, but in the documentation for ODBC: http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/pdf/fm9%5Fodbc%5Fjdbc%5Fguide%5Fen.pdf (page 47) it states: "The maximum column length of text is 1 million characters, unless you specify a smaller Maximum number of characters for the text field in FileMaker. FileMaker returns empty strings as NULL." I'm thinking that the data type is too large when trying to convert it to varchar. But even after using a query of SUBSTR(LastNameFirst, 1, 2000), I get the same error. Any suggestions?

• Application/Server dependency mapping

  I'm just curious as to whether such as tool exists (free, open source, or commercial but for a reasonable price) before I build it myself. We're looking for a simple solution to simplify taking web apps online and offline when a server is undergoing maintenance. The idea is that we be able to mark a server as unavailable, and then mark all dependent (direct and indirect) as offline. Our first proof-of-concept is running, and we created an aspx page that lists various applications that have an App_Offline.html file with a friendly "Down for Maintenance" message in a GridView. In the GridView, each app has a LinkButton that, when clicked, either renames the App_Offline.htm to App_Offline.html or vice-versa to take the app online and offline. The next step is to set up all of our dependencies. For example, our store locater would be dependent on our web services, which in turn are dependent on our SQL Server. (that's a simple example. We can easily have several layers, or one app dependent on multiple servers, etc.) In this example, if the SQL server goes down, we would need to drill down recursively to find all apps that depend on it, and then turn them off and on by renaming the App_Offline file appropriately. I realize this will be relatively simple to build, but could be complex to manage. I'm sure we're not the first team to think of this concept, and I'm wondering if there are any open source tools, or if any of you have done something similar and can help us avoid pitfalls. Edit - Update I found the category of software I'm looking for. it's called CMDB - (Configuration Management Database), and it's generally more of a Network Admin type tool than a developer tool. I found some open source products in this category, but none written in .NET. I had considered moving this question to ServerFault.com when I realized I was looking for a netowrk Admin type tool, but since I'm looking for code and a modifiable solution I'll keep the question here.

  Hello, I'm trying to integrate PartCover.NET with NAnt and CruiseControl.NET I can run PartCover.NET browser without problems, but it does not work once I try to run it in an NAnt task (in my CCNET build). There must be an issue with my NAnt target but I can't find it.   Hi Guys, This is my first post here, and I'm new to NService Bus world. After play around for a couple days, and found that it's really powerful framework to creat service and easy to use. :) Now, I came across a small question. I created a project which uses NServiceBus, it got normal message handlers and Saga handlers. And also I created a couple tests around these with NServiceBus.Testing framework. It all works fine when I run the tests via ReSharper Test Runner works and NUnit console, they all works fine, but when I include them into NAnt build script, it throw the following exception: System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException : Unable to load one or more of the requested types. • Getting Facebook Posts Permalink from Facebook Graph API Search

  I want to use the Facebook Graph API to search the public status updates concerning a keyword. For example, this works great: http://graph.facebook.com/search?q=obama&type=post It shows me all the posts with the word "obama" in it. If the post is a picture, it actually returns a field called "link" which is the permalink to the picture on the actual Facebook website, in the user's profile. Which is exactly what I want, but for pictures. But if the post in question is just a status update, i.e. just text, all it returns is the 3 fields: message, created_time, and updated_time. How do I view this actual status update on www.facebook.com? I realize I can view it on graph.facebook.com in JSON format, but I want to actually be able to show the permalink to the status update, or post. The final result I would like to retrieve might look something like this: http://www.facebook.com/[user id]/posts/[post id] With the [user id] and [post id] fields swapped out with the actual IDs, obviously.   I want to run a batch file, which I do via the following: <CustomAction Id='InstallFilter' FileKey='install' ExeCommand='' Execute='deferred' /> <InstallExecuteSequence> <Custom Action='InstallFilter' Before='InstallFinalize' /> </InstallExecuteSequence> This will execute the batch file, but it runs in C:\Windows\System32 (or something like that). I want it to run in the directory that the file is found in. It won'et let me specify a Directory attribute with a FileKey attribute. How can I tell the installer to run out of a specific directory, preferably by the directory ID. Also, when I try to uninstall my app with script, I get an error message saying "There is a problem with the Windows Installer package. A program required for the install to complete could not be run." This makes sense, as by the time the script gets run, the files have been removed. The question is: How do I specify that my action should only be run on install, not uninstall? How do I uninstall this current copy?

• Lost connection to MySQL server during query

  I have a huge table and I need to process all rows in it. I'm always getting this Lost connection message and I'm not able to reconnect and restore the cursor to the last position it was. • Client-Server Networking Between PHP Client and Java Server

  Hi there, I have a university project which is already 99% completed. It consists of two parts-website (PHP) and desktop (Java). People have their accounts on the website and they wish to query different information regarding their accounts. They send an SMS which is received by desktop application which queries database of website (MySQL) and sends the reply accordingly. This part is working superbly. The problem is that some times website wishes to instruct the desktop application to send a specific SMS to a particular number. Apparently there seems no way other than putting all the load to the DB server... This is how I made it work. Website puts SMS jobs in a specific table. Java application polls this table again and again and if it finds a job, it executes it. Even this part is working correctly but unfortunately it is not acceptable by my university to poll the DB like this. :( The other approach I could think of is to use client-server one. I tried making Java server and its PHP client. So that whenever an SMS is to be sent, the website opens a socket connection to desktop application and sends two strings (cell # and SMS message). Unfortunately I am unable to do this. I was successfully to make a Java server which works fine when connected by a Java client, similarly my PHP client connects correctly to a PHP server, but when I try to cross them, they start hating each other... PHP shows no error but Java gives StreamCorruptedException when it tries to read header of input stream. Could someone please tell what I can try to make PHP client and Java server work together? Or if the said purpose can be achieved by another means, how? Regards, Yasir
