  • How can I prevent the "... has stopped working" window on my Server 2008 R2 dev box?

    I'm using a Windows Server 2008 x64 R2 machine as a development box. Amongst many other things I've got Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed on it. When I'm working on a project, I sometimes need to use Debug Start without Debugging (Ctrl + F5). If the program throws an exception, I get a new R2-style window appear. I'm pretty sure I didn't see this on my XP box - this is the first time I've developed directly on a server. Is there any way to avoid this - it's really beginning to bug me? E.g. my current project is accessing a WCF service - I'm using Ctrl+F5 to start a console program client. I run it and get the window. The title is the name of the project I've just started and it contains: [insert-project-name-here] has stopped working Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. --> Check online for a solution and close the program --> Close the program --> Debug the program V View problem details. Clicking on "Close the program" will actually close the window and the exception message appears in the console, which is what I want (but without the extra window-faffing). How can I avoid this annoyance?

  • Desperate help using PHP's $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] on a web server?

    I've spent the past few months building a website on localhost. Throughout the site, instead of using relative paths, I used $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] to access the root of my server so I could reference files from there. However, I just decided to upload my site to 000webhost. As I soon found out, and for those of you who use them, you are probably aware, that their server root is different than your actual directory in which you upload your files. I believe it's virtual hosting... anyway, my $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] now throws errors along the lines of this on the site: Warning: include_once() [function.include-once]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/mypath) is not within the allowed path(s) Every other site I looked at said that you should just replace $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] with the home directory provided to you by 000webhost. However, if I want to change hosting services in the future, I'm screwed. Is there any way to use $_SERVER to access a set virtual directory or use htaccess or something to make my code work? I tried using DocumentRoot in a htaccess file in my root directory, but it threw a 404 error when trying to access the page. I'm in desperate need... can anyone help me?

    I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2008 website. I have a Gridview. I included the Default.aspx and aspx.cs files below.   • Sequential (comb) GUIDs for Oracle

    We are in the process of switching from the C# Guid.NewGuid() random-ish guid generator to the sequential guid algorithm suggested in this post. While this seems to work well for MS SQL Server, I am unsure about the implications for Oracle databases, in which we store guids in a raw(16) field. Does anyone have any insight as to whether this algorithm would be good for creating sequential guids for Oracle as well as for MS SQL Server, or if a different variant should be used. Thanks!

  • NVIDIA x server - "sudo nvidia config" does not generate a working 'xorg.config'

    I am over 18 hours deep on this challenge. I got to this point and am stuck. very stuck. Maybe you can figure it out? Ubuntu Version 12.04 LTS with all the updates installed. Problem: The default settings in "etc/X11/xorg.conf" that are generated by the "nvidia-xconfig" tool, do not allow the NVIDIA x server to connect to the driver in my "System Settings Additional Driver window". (that's how I understand it. Lots of information below). Symptoms of Problem "System Settings Additional Driver" window has drivers, but the nvidia x server cannot connect/utilize any of the 4 drivers. the drivers are activated, but not in use. When I go to "System Tools Administration NVIDIA x server settings" I get an error that basically tells me to create a default file to initialize the NVIDIA X server (screen shot below). This is the messages the terminal gives after running a "sudo nvidia-xconfig" command for the first time. It seems that the generated file by the tool i just ran is generating a bad/unusable file: If I run the "sudo nvidia-xconfig" command again, I wont get an error the second time. However when I reboot, the default file that is generated (etc/X11/xorg.conf) simply puts the screen resolution at 800 x 600 (or something big like that). When I try to go to NVIDIA x server settings I am greeted with the same screen as the screen shot as in symptom 2 (no option to change the resolution). If I try to go to "system settings display" there are no other resolutions to choose from. At this point I must delete the newly minted "xorg.conf" and reinstate the original in its place. However I realized that if I get deep enough to take a look, the laptop "won't like it". so I put it back together. Figuring out the card this way is not an option for me right now. 2) (My computer is triple boot) I logged into Win7 and ran 'dxdiag' command. here is the screen shot: 3) I tried to look on the lenovo website for more details... but no luck. I took a look at my receipts and here is info form receipt: System Unit: W520 NVIDIA Quadro 1000M 2GB 4) In win7 I went to the NVIDIA website and used the option to have my card 'scanned' by a Java applet to determine the latest update for my card. I tried the same with Ubuntu but I can't get the applet to run. Here is the recommended driver from from the NVIDIA Applet for my card for Win7 (I hope this shines some light on the specifics of the card): Quadro/NVS/Tesla/GRID Desktop Driver Release R319 Version: 320.00 WHQL Release Date: 3.5.2013 5) Also I went on the NVIDIA driver search and looked through every possible combination of product type + product series + product to find all the combinations that yield a 1000M card. Here it is: 2) Then I did a reboot. Now Ubuntu is 600 x 800 resolution. When I logged in after the computer came up I got an error (which I always get after generating xorg.conf by nvidia-xconfig and rebooting) 3) To finally answer the question - No. There is no "NVIDIA-304" driver.     I've been having issues with my teste environment and I'm hoping someone has run into this problem and can point me in the right direction. I noticed: SharePoint Server Memory is through the roof at times and so is the CPU usage. Most of CPU usage is a sql proccess. Running out of disk space all the time. I looked in the Logs located in the 12 hive and sure enough I have 1G log files that are hard to open because of the size. So I thought maybe that was causing it, and who knows? maybe that causes some of the problems or maybe all. I'm running configuration wizard and see if anything changes. Please if someone has had similar issues let me know.

    In Win2k3 I used httpcfg to tell IIS to listen to specific IP addresses on the server. I want to run Apache with VisualSVN Server on port 80 on another IP address but IIS7 binds to all ports by default. What utility for IIS7 controls the IIS7 bindings? Update: I found the answer. There is a utility called netsh. netsh http add iplisten ipaddress=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx By default there are not IP addresses on the list so IIS7 will bind to all IP addressed. If you add one IP to the list it will listen to just that IP or any IP added to the list. It is necessary to restart IIS7 for the change to take affect.

  • Configure Zabbix to send email notifications through Exim

    I've been working through the installation and configuration of Zabbix over the past couple of days and I think I've finally got everything working... except the sending of notifications / alerts. I'm running on a Ubuntu server which is using Exim to send emails. I'd previously used this Exim setup to send notifications for Nagios so I know that Exim itself works. However, I can't seem to get Zabbix to send out notifications. Here's what I've done so far: Set up a "test trigger" like so: Trigger severity >= "Information" Send message to User "Admin" The Admin user has a email contact (and I've sent command line emails from Exim on the server using "sendmail" to this email address successfully) The media type for email is set. (I've tried 127.0.0.1) I've checked the user permissions and it is read/write for all host groups The triggers are definitely getting set but no actions are being called... I think my problem is within Zabbix as it's not actually executing the actions And idea how to configure this correctly?

    I have installed an instance of Win Server 2008 R2 on a Virtual machine. This machine is purposefully on an isolated environment (no internet) for testing purposes. I need to activate the machine and I have my MSDN key ready to go. I just ran through the same steps with a Windows 7 VM, and was able to register using an automated telephone service from Microsoft. With Windows Server 2008, I can see the same option to register using this service, but it is greyed out: Google pointed me to people experiencing this issue but the only workarounds I saw where to use the internet (not an option for me). Does anyone know how to enable this option?

  • .NET Framework 4 updates breaking MMC.exe and other CLR.dll Exceptions

    I've seen this issue floating around the net the last few weeks and I'm facing exactly the same issue. My servers are set to auto install updates using Windows update (not clever, I know), and since about 2 months ago, I've been getting strange Exceptions. The first thing that happens is that MMC.exe just crashes randomly and sometimes on startup of the console.   • DB2 insert performance - How to measure

    [From stackoverflow] Im trying to find a way to speedup my inserts to a DB2 9.7.1 (ubuntu linux) Im watching vmstat and trying to gather some statistics via the db2 get snapshot commands but im not able to figure out which numbers im looking for to be able to see where the trouble is. I've read lits of stuff like http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/35692526/question-multiple-row-in.aspx, and http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/tips/dm-0403wilkins/ and tricks like ALTER TABLE lalala APPEND ON works somewhat (the difference between a dd if=/dev/zero and insert is still a factor 10) but I would like to be able to find the counters or other performance indicators that actually show why it makes sense to use those tricks. For example: What is the metric called that shows me that it is buffer pages allocation (FSCR stuff) that is the problem Where do I see that the insert time is hampered by clustered indexes? I find db2top very useful but im still searching for more direct view of "this is your bottleneck" methods

  • Can't get MySQL to install

    I'd like to think I know what I'm doing in a Unix shell but maybe not. I made a mistake in a configuration file for MySQL, so I decided to just uninstall it and then reinstall it, so I did: sudo apt-get --purge remove mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 mysql-client The files were deleted, so I then tried to install it, but it didn't ask me for a root password or anything else, so I uninstalled it using the above command again and then did sudo rm -rf /etc/mysql sudo rm /etc/init.d/mysql sudo rm -rf /var/lib/mysql* I then restarted the computer then installed it again: sudo apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client It asked for a root password, and everything looked like it would work, until I saw this: $ sudo apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client Reading package lists...   • The action can't be completed because the file is open in IIS Worker Process

    I have a windows server 2008 R2 running a couple of sites for me, while developing i usually post updates to this server. Now, i tried posting an update but it failed said it has a file in use and the error msg is as follows: "The action can't be completed because the file is open in IIS Worker Process" "Close the file and try again." I have tried stopping the site but this does not help. The site is running in the same application pool as the site that should stay online so a recycle might be breaking the running site (If this is wrong, please correct me). Question is: Is there a way to "Release" the lock that is put on the file without stopping other currently running sites?

  • OCS 2007: Issues with /LiveServer/MCUFactory

    I'm not really an Office Communications Server expert, but just trying to resolve some seemingly minor issues with a new install... The following error is occurring in the OCS event log, and when I try to visit https://servername:444/LiveServer/MCUFactory in Internet Explorer to test the address, I just get a "page cannot be displayed" error. I can telnet to port 444 on the server and verify that the port is open and listening. Any ideas?   • How to fix error with "class" when creating a dhcp split-scope on Windows 2008?

    I'm trying to split a dhcp scope between a existing domain controller TTP01 and the new DC TTP02 to provide failover. I'm using the the wizard in DHCP [my scope] Advanced Split-scope. In the final step I get an error saying: Migration of Scope Options on Added DHCP Server: Failed Error: 0x00004E4C - The class name being used is unknown or incorrect. I can't find anything that seems to be wrong with my Scope Options settings, they are: Option Name Vendor Value Class 003 Router Standard 192.168.137.1 None 006 DNS Server Standard 192.168.137.2 None 015 DNS Domain Name Standard ttp.local None 060 PXEClient Standard PXEClient None I can't find any information about this error except this msdn article when searching. How do make it work?
