  • How to get equivalent of ResultSetMetaData without ResultSet

    Hey Guys - I need to resolve a bunch of column names to column indexes (so as to use some of the nice ResultSetMetaData methods). However, the only way that I know how to get a ResultSetMetaData object is by calling getMetaData() on some ResultSet. The problem I have with that is that grabbing a ResultSet takes up uneccesary resources in my mind - I don't really need to query the data in the table, I just want some information about the table. Does anyone know of any way to get a RSMD object without getting a ResultSet (from a potentially huge table) first? Thanks!

I've read countless theory and tutorials on ANTLR and JavaCC, but I can't figure out how to actually make it do something useful. I learn best by "taking something apart and putting it back together again", so, are there any working examples of simple languages implemented with the help of tools such as ANTLR, or similar? This abstract class is now deprecated and I should use AbstractJUnit38SpringContextTests.   • Constructing a Binary Tree from its traversals

    I'm trying to construct a binary tree (unbalanced), given its traversals. I'm currently doing preorder + inorder but when I figure this out postorder will be no issue at all. I realize there are some question on the topic already but none of them seemed to answer my question. I've got a recursive method that takes the Preorder and the Inorder of a binary tree to reconstruct it, but is for some reason failing to link the root node with the subsequent children. Note: I don't want a solution. I've been trying to figure this out for a few hours now and even jotted down the recursion on paper and everything seems fine... so I must be missing something subtle. Any ideas would be quite appreciated. Side note: While debugging it seems that the root note never receives the connections to the additional nodes (they remain null). From what I can see though, that should not happen... EDIT: To clarify, the method is throwing the IllegalArgumentException @ line 21 (else branch of the for loop, which should only be thrown if the traversals contain different elements.

  • How to implement custom JSF component for drawing chart?

    I want to create a component which can be used like: <mc:chart data="#{bean.data}" width="200" height="300" /> where #{bean.data} returns a collection of some objects or chart model object or something else what can be represented as a chart (to put it simple, let's assume it returns a collection of integers). I want this component to generate html like this: <img src="someimg123.png" width="200" height="300"/> The problem is that I have some method which can receive data and return image, like: public RenderedImage getChartImage (Collection<Integer> data) { ... } and I also have a component for drawing dynamic image: <o:dynamicImage width="200" height="300" data="#{bean.readyChartImage}/> This component generates html just as I need but it's parameter is array of bytes or RenderedImage i.e. it needs method in bean like this: public RenderedImage getReadyChartImage () { ... } So, one approach is to use propertyChangedListener on submit to set data (Collection<Integer>) for drawing chart and then use <o:dynamicImage /> component. But I'd like to create my own component which receives data and draws chart. I'm using facelets but it's not so important indeed. Any ideas how to create the desired component? P.S. One solution I was thinking about is not to use <o:dynamicImage/> and use some servlet to stream image. But I don't know how to implement that correctly and how to tie jsf component with servlet and how to save already built chart images (generating new same image for each request can cause performance problems imho) and so on..

    I need to split some info from a asterisk delimitted data. Data Format: NAME*ADRESS LINE1*ADDRESS LINE2 Rules: 1. Name should be always present 2. Address Line 1 and 2 might not be 3. There should be always three asterisks. Samples: MR JONES A ORTEGA*ADDRESS 1*ADDRESS2* Name: MR JONES A ORTEGA Address Line1: ADDRESS 1 Address Line2: ADDRESS 2 A PAUL*ADDR1** Name: A PAUL Address Line1: ADDR1 Address Line2: Not Given My algo is: 1. Iterate through the characters in the line 2. Store all chars in a temp variables until first * is found. Reject the data if no char is found before first occurence of asterisk. If some chars found, use it as the name. 3. Same as step 2 for finding address line 1 and 2 except that this won't reject the data if no char is found My algo looks ugly. The code looks uglier. Spliting using //* doesn't work either since name can be replaced with address line 1 if the data was *Address 1*Address2. Any suggestion?

  • Using ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping with @Controller and extending AbstractController

    Hey there, actually I thought I was trying something really simple. ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping sounded great to produce a small spring webapp using a very lean configuration. Just annotate the Controller with @Controller, have it extend AbstractController and the configuration shouldn't need more than this <context:component-scan base-package="test.mypackage.controller" /> <bean id="urlMapping" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.support.ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping" /> to resolve my requests and map them to my controllers. I've mapped the servlet to "*.spring", and calling <approot>/hello.spring All I ever get is an error stating that no mapping was found. If however I extend the MultiActionController, and do something like <approot>/hello/hello.spring it works. Which somehow irritates me, as I would have thought that if that is working, why didn't my first try? Does anyone have any idea?     Hi all, I want my findbugs report not show the following error: DM_NUMBER_CTOR: Method invokes inefficient Number constructor; use static valueOf instead The problem is that this happens in groovy-generated code files, so I can't control the source code - that is why I want to exclude it and add it to my exclude filter. I do not want to add explicitly class (since I make API that many tools will use, I want my filter to be generic). I would not like to completely remove this bug from the report by type, I would really like to only exclude this bug from appearing if it happenned in "static initializer" methods. Any idea?     What is the preferred way of using GAE datastore PersistenceManager for web app? GAE instructions are a bit ambiguous on the matter. Do I instantiate PersistenceManagerFactory for each RPC call, or do I use only one factory for all requests? Do I call PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(), or do I call PMF.get().getPersistenceManagerProxy()? Do I close PM after each RPC call, or do I leave it open? What are you guys doing? Furthermore, I'm not certain how GAE handles 30-second-per-request limit. Is it even possible to reference the same PM between requests?

  • System.out.println() does not operate in Akka actor

    I am kind of baffled by this encointer. I am working an akka project that was created as a maven projecct and imported into eclipse using the mvn eclipse:eclipse command. the akka actor has the system println method just to make it easy to do read the functions and methods invoked.   • Android - Correspondence between ImageView coordinates and Bitmap Pixels

    In my application I want the user to be able to select some content of an Image contained inside an ImageView. To select the content I subclassed the ImageView class making it implement the OnTouchListener so to draw over it a rectangle with borders decided by the user. Here is an example of the result of the drawing (to have an idea you can think of it as when you click with the mouse on your desktop and drag the mouse): Now I need to determine which pixels of the Bitmap image correspond to the selected part. It's kind of easy to determine which are the points of the ImageView belonging to the rectangle, but I don't know how to get the correspondent pixels, since the ImageView has a different aspect ratio than the original image. I followed the approach described especially here, but also here, but am not fully satisfied because in my opinion the correspondence made is 1 on 1 between pixels and points on the ImageView and does not give me all the correspondent pixels on the original image to the selected area. Calling hoveredRect the rectangle on the ImageView the points inside of it are: class Point { float x, y; @Override public String toString() { return x + ", " + y; } } Vector<Point> pointsInRect = new Vector<Point>(); for( int x = hoveredRect.left; x <= hoveredRect.right; x++ ){ for( int y = hoveredRect.top; y <= hoveredRect.bottom; y++ ){ Point pointInRect = new Point(); pointInRect.x = x; pointInRect.y = y; pointsInRect.add(pointInRect); } } How can I obtain a Vector<Pixels> pixelsInImage containing the correspondent pixels?

    We have this XML: <Summary> <ValueA>xxx</ValueA> <ValueB/> </Summary> <ValueB/> will never have any attributes or inner elements. It's a boolean type element - it exists (true) or it doesn't (false). JAXB generated a Summary class with a String valueA member, which is good. But for ValueB, JAXB generated a ValueB inner class and a corresponding member: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected Summary.ValueB valueB; But what I'd like is a boolean member and no inner class: @XmlElement(name = "ValueB") protected boolean valueB; How can you do this? I'm not looking to regenerate the classes, I'd like to just make the code change manually.
