    Good day! Is it possible to add a JPanel on top of a JLabel? I would like my JFrame to have a background image and in order to this, i used this code (based from past stackoverflow answers): setLocation(150,50); setSize(700,650); setVisible(true); JLabel contentPane = new JLabel(); contentPane.setIcon(new ImageIcon("pics/b1.jpg")); contentPane.setLayout( new BorderLayout()); setContentPane( contentPane ); Now my problem is, I cannot put a panel on my JFrame because of the JLabel background.   • Fast, lightweight XML parser

    I have a specific format XML document that I will get pushed. This document will always be the same type so it's very strict. I need to parse this so that I can convert it into JSON (well, a slightly bastardized version so someone else can use it with DOJO). My question is, shall I use a very fast lightweight (no need for SAX, etc.) XML parser (any ideas?) or write my own, basically converting into a StringBuffer and spinning through the array? Basically, under the covers I assume all HTML parsers will spin thru the string (or memory buffer) and parse, producing output on the way through. So suppose that we have 2 Actions ActionA and get_menu Action The jsp page for the result of ActionA calls get_menu to generate the menus. So suppose that ActionA sets a variable groups and get_menu also uses a groups variable... ActionA's variable will overtake get_menu's variable. I tried many solutions and even jsp:inculde doesnt help:(...

  • Commercial Website architecture question

    Hello everyone, I have to write an architecture case study but there are some things that i don't know, so i'd like some pointers on the following : The website must handle 5k simultaneous users. The backend is composed by a commercial software, some webservices, some message queues, and a database. I want to recommend to use Spring for the backend, to deal with the different elements, and to expose some Rest services. I also want to recommend wicket for the front (not the point here). What i don't know is : must i install the front and the back on the same tomcat server or two different ? and i am tempted to put two servers for the front, with a load balancer (no need for session replication in this case). But if i have two front servers, must i have two back servers ? i don't want to create some kind of bottleneck. Based on what i read on this blog a really huge charge is handle by one tomcat only for the first website mentionned. But i cannot find any info on this, so i can't tell if it seems plausible. If you can enlight me, so i can go on in my case study, that would be really helpful. Thanks :)

    when i search internet i have found a way to underline font like this, Font f=jLabel1.getFont(); Map<TextAttribute,Object> map = new Hashtable<TextAttribute,Object>(); map.put(TextAttribute.UNDERLINE,TextAttribute.UNDERLINE_ON); f=f.deriveFont(map); jLabel1.setFont(f); it works well on jdk6, however it doesnt work on jdk5, and it doesnt warn about anything. first, how can i get same effect on jdk5? second, why is there a TextAttribute.UNDERLINE constant, if it doesnt work?

  • How do I lock the layout of my android program to one orientation

    I'm trying to write a program that needs smooth orientation sensor samples as the phone is rotated all around. Every time the orientation of the phone is changed, it interrupts the data and freezes the program while the layout changes. How can I lock it in one orientation (landscape or portrait, it doesn't matter)? I assume it has something to do with android:layout in the xml file, but I can't find anything online.

  • Logging from multiple apps/processes to a single log file

    Our app servers (weblogic) all use log4j to log to the same file on a network share. On top of this we have all web apps in a managed server logging errors to a common error.log. I can't imagine this is a good idea but wanted to hear from some pros. I know that each web app has its own classloader, so any thread synchronization only occurs within the app. So what happens when multiple processes start converging on a single log file? Can we expect interspersed log statements? Performance problems? What about multiple web apps logging to a common log file? The environment is Solaris.

  • Is there a decent HTML Junit report plugin for Maven?

    I find the surefire-report plug-in very unsuitable to my working style. I clean the project all the time and I don't want to spend 5 min to rebuild the whole site every time I want to look at the test report in my browser. If I type mvn surefire-report:report-only, the generated report is too ugly and barely readable. What I'm looking for is something like ant's JUnitReport task. Is there one available out there already?

When i click on the button the MAIN.class of the jar is called and program is running in independent window(JFrame). After user is finished with the program and exits, I need to get the String of program that is generated on exit and paste it into the textbox (The String is HTML code) Is anyone else having this problem and has a solution?     I'm writing a document-based client application and I need a DOM or WPF-like, but non-visual model that: Is a tree composed of elements Can accept an unlimited number of custom properties that get/set any CLR type, including collections. Can inherit their values from their parent Can inherit their default values from an ancestor Can be derived/calculated from other properties, ancestors, or descendants Support event bubbling / tunneling There will be a core set of properties but other plugins may add their own or even create custom documents Supports full inspection by the owning document in order to persist the tree and attributes in an XML format. I realize that's a tall order but I was really hoping there would be something out there to help me get started. Unfortunately WPF DependencyObjects are too closed, proprietary, and coupled to WPF to be of any use as a document model. My needs also have a strong resemblance to the HTML DOM but I haven't been able to find any clean DOM implementations that could be decoupled from HTML or ported to .NET. My current platform is .NET/C# but if anyone knows of anything that might be useful for inspiration or embedding, regardless of the platform, I'd love to know.

  • File.mkdir is not working and I can't understand why

    Hello, I've this brief snippet: String target = baseFolder.toString() + entryName; target = target.substring(0, target.length() - 1); File targetdir = new File(target); if (!targetdir.mkdirs()) { throw new Exception("Errore nell'estrazione del file zip"); } doesn't mattere if I leave the last char (that is usually a slash). It's done this way to work on both unix and windows. The path is actually obtained from the URI of the base folder. As you can see from baseFolder.toString() (baseFolder is of type URI and is correct). The base folder actually exists. I can't debug this because all I get is true or false from mkdir, no other explanations.The weird thing is that baseFolder is created as well with mkdir and in that case it works. Now I'm under windows. the value of target just before the creation of targetdir is "file:/C:/Users/dario/jCommesse/jCommesseDB" if I cut and paste it (without the last entry) in windows explore it works...

    I would like to return all messages from certain key to a certain key. The class should be thread-safe and old keys should be able to be deleted say for example after 30 seconds. I was thinking of using a concurrentskiplistset or concurrentskiplist map. Also I was thinking of deleting the items from inside a newSingleThreadScheduledExecutor. I would like to know how you would implement this or maybe use a library?

Is there any way to persist a collection of an interface, which has several implementations, with Hibernate?

  • Launch intent viewer to display image from url

    I have the url of an image. What i need to do is launch the default image viewer for images using an intent. I tried launching it by using: Uri uri = Uri.parse("http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/srpr/logo1w.png"); Intent it = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); it.setDataAndType(uri, "image/*") startActivity(it); But it doesn't work. If I do not specify the type of data, the intent launches the browser since the data is a url. It works basically (since you can see the image on the browser) but what I would like is to have the gallery display the image for me. I can also download the image into a Bitmap but I would still not know how to display the Bitmap using the gallery (if that's even possible). Any ideas?
