  • I need data structure for effective handling with dates

    - by ante.sabo
What I need is something like Hashtable which I will fill with prices that were actual at desired days. For example: I will put two prices: January 1st: 100USD, March 5th: 89USD. If I search my hashtable for price: hashtable.get(February 14th) I need it to give me back actual price which was entered at Jan. 1st because this is the last actual price. Normal hashtable implementation won't give me back anything, since there is nothing put on that dat. I need to see if there is such implementation which can find quickly object based on range of dates.

  • Is there any appreciable difference between if and if-else?

    - by Drew
Given the following code snippets, is there any appreciable difference? public boolean foo(int input) { if(input > 10) { doStuff(); return true; } if(input == 0) { doOtherStuff(); return true; } return false; } vs. public boolean foo(int input) { if(input > 10) { doStuff(); return true; } else if(input == 0) { doOtherStuff(); return true; } else { return false; } } Or would the single exit principle be better here with this piece of code... public boolean foo(int input) { boolean toBeReturned = false; if(input > 10) { doStuff(); toBeReturned = true; } else if(input == 0) { doOtherStuff(); toBeReturned = true; } return toBeReturned; } Is there any perceptible performance difference? Do you feel one is more or less maintainable/readable than the others?

  • Detecting struckout text in a cell using JExcelApi

    - by Geo
I need to detect whether the text within a cell is struck out or not. I'm using this: Cell cc = sheet.getCell("B1"); CellFormat format = cc.getCellFormat(); System.out.println(format.getFont().isStruckout()); but I remember I read somewhere that CellFormat is deprecated and CellFeatures should be used instead. How could one find out whether a text is struck out using CellFeatures?

  • Array not showing in Jlist but filled in console

    - by OVERTONE
Hey there. been a busy debugger today. ill give ths short version. ive made an array list that takes names from a database. then i put the contents of the arraylist into an array of strings. now i want too display the arrays contents in a JList. the weird thing is it was working earlier. and ive two methods. ones just a little practice too make sure i was adding to the Jlist correctly. so heres the key codes. this is the layout of my code. variables constructor methods in my variables i have these 3 defined String[] contactListNames = new String[5]; ArrayList<String> rowNames = new ArrayList<String>(); JList contactList = new JList(contactListNames); simple enough. in my constructor i have them again. contactListNames = new String[5]; contactList = new JList(contactListNames); //i dont have the array list defined though. printSqlDetails(); // the prinSqldetails was too make sure that the connectionw as alright. and its working fine. fillContactList(); // this is the one thats causing me grief. its where all the work happens. // fillContactListTest(); // this was the tester that makes sure its adding to the list alright. heres the code for fillContactListTest() public void fillContactListTest() { for(int i = 0;i<3;i++) { try { String contact; System.out.println(" please fill the list at index "+ i); Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); contact = in.next(); contactListNames[i] = contact; in.nextLine(); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } heres the main one thats supposed too work. public void fillContactList() { int i =0; createConnection(); ArrayList<String> rowNames = new ArrayList<String>(); try { Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet namesList = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT name FROM Users"); try { while (namesList.next()) { rowNames.add(namesList.getString(1)); contactListNames =(String[])rowNames.toArray(new String[rowNames.size()]); // this used to print out contents of array list // System.out.println("" + rowNames); while(i<contactListNames.length) { System.out.println(" " + contactListNames[i]); i++; } } } catch(SQLException q) { q.printStackTrace(); } conn.commit(); stmt.close(); conn.close(); } catch(SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } i really need help here. im at my wits end. i just cant see why the first method would add to the JList no problem. but the second one wont. both the contactListNames array and array list can print fine and have the names in them. but i must be transfering them too the jlist wrong. please help p.s im aware this is long. but trust me its the short version.

  • Entity Aspect (in Spring)

    - by niklassaers
Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a problem defining my aspects. I've got a bunch of entities that I'd like to profile the get-methods in, so I've written the following pointcut and method @Pointcut("execution(* tld.myproject.data.entities.*.get*()") public void getEntityProperty() {} @Around("getEntityProperty()") public Object profileGetEntityProperty(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp) throws Throwable { long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); String name = pjp.getSignature().getName(); Object output = pjp.proceed(); long elapsedTime = System.currentTimeMillis() - start; if(elapsedTime > 100) System.err.println("profileGetEntityProperty: Entity method " + name + " execution time: " + elapsedTime + " ms."); return output; } I've got weaving turned on in my configuration, and aspects weaving into the business layer work just fine. Is my pointcut correctly written? Or is there something about entities that make them non-weavable? (my entity is prefixed with @Entity before the class definition) Cheers Nik

  • how to put jcheckbox to table cell?

    - by joseph
    Hello, I cannot put jChceckBox to jTable cell. More likely I can put checkBox to table, but when I run module with that table, the cell where should be checkBox shows text "true" or "false". The behaviors of that cell are the same like checkbox, but it shows text value instead of checkbox. Here is the code. DefaultTableModel dm = new DefaultTableModel(); dm.setDataVector(new Object[][]{{"dd", "Edit", "Delete"}, {"dd","Edit", "Delete"}}, new Object[]{"Include","Component", "Ekvi"}); jTable1 = new javax.swing.JTable(); jTable1.setModel(dm); JCheckBox chBox=new JCheckBox(); jTable1.getColumn("Include").setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(chBox)); jScrollPane1.setViewportView(jTable1);

  • Using a Context Menu to delete from a SQLite database in Android

    - by LordSnoutimus
Hi, I have created a list view that displays the names and dates of items stored in a SQLite database, now I want to use a Context Menu to modify these items stored in the database such as edit the name, delete, and view. This is the code for the list view: public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.listview); SQLiteDatabase myDB = null; myDB = this.openOrCreateDatabase(MY_DB_NAME, MODE_PRIVATE, null); Cursor cur = myDB.rawQuery("SELECT _id, trackname, tracktime" + " FROM " + MY_DB_TABLE, null); ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.listview, cur, new String[] { Constants.TRACK_NAME, Constants.TRACK_TIME}, new int[] { R.id.text1, R.id.text2}); ListView list = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.list); list.setAdapter(adapter); registerForContextMenu(list); } and the Context Menu... public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) { super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, menuInfo); menu.setHeaderTitle("Track Options"); menu.add(0, CHANGE_NAME, 0, "Change name"); menu.add(0, VIEW_TRACK, 0, "View track"); menu.add(0, SEND_TRACK, 0, "Send track"); menu.add(0, DELETE_TRACK, 0, "Delete track"); } I have used a Switch statement to control the menu items.. public boolean onContextItemSelected(MenuItem item) { switch (item.getItemId()){ case CHANGE_NAME: changename(); return true; case DELETE_TRACK: deletetrack(); return true; default: return super.onContextItemSelected(item); } So how would I go ahead and map the deletetrack(); method to find the ID of the track stored in the database to the item that has been selected in the list view?

  • Eclipse 3.5: Implementing my own context menu for a MultipageEditorPart --> no viewer involved

    - by Patrick
Hello! :-) In my current RCP-project i use a MultipageEditorPart. It has various pages, with simple SWT composites on it. The composites contain some Text and Combo elements. When the user right clicks onto the editor page, I want a context menu to open. This menu holds a command for creating a new editor page, with a composite on it. The command is already working, but I'm quite clueless about how to implement the context menu for the editor. Can someone help with this?

  • setting user.dir system property in JBoss 5.1

    - by Spiderman
In JBoss 4.2.3 the System property 'user.dir' is defined to be <JBoss-root>/bin when I ran the same application on JBoss 5.1 I noticed that it cannot find the System property user.dir why there is no default definition for version 5.1? and how can I define it manually? I followed this suggestion and added my property into properties-service.xml but it had no affect and still JBoss couldn't find the system:user.dir value.

  • Shipping jar with default .properties file configurations

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hello, I would like to include a default default.properties file in my .jar library. The idea is to allow the user to override my default is he so desires. I'm having trouble getting the classloader to play nicely with this setup, I've tried to look a at popular jars such as log4j, common-* and others and it seems that no one is implementing this idea. Am I going the wrong way? The second best thing is hard coding the values, and using the default if no .properties key has been found, but this sound oh so wrong. Suggestions?

  • Need help make these classes use Visitor Pattern and generics

    - by Shervin
Hi. I need help to generify and implement the visitor pattern. We are using tons of instanceof and it is a pain. I am sure it can be modified, but I am not sure how to do it. Basically we have an interface ProcessData public interface ProcessData { public setDelegate(Object delegate); public Object getDelegate(); //I am sure these delegate methods can use generics somehow } Now we have a class ProcessDataGeneric that implements ProcessData public class ProcessDataGeneric implements ProcessData { private Object delegate; public ProcessDataGeneric(Object delegate) { this.delegate = delegate; } } Now a new interface that retrieves the ProcessData interface ProcessDataWrapper { public ProcessData unwrap(); } Now a common abstract class that implements the wrapper so ProcessData can be retrieved @XmlSeeAlso( { ProcessDataMotorferdsel.class,ProcessDataTilskudd.class }) public abstract class ProcessDataCommon implements ProcessDataWrapper { protected ProcessData unwrapped; public ProcessData unwrap() { return unwrapped; } } Now the implementation public class ProcessDataMotorferdsel extends ProcessDataCommon { public ProcessDataMotorferdsel() { unwrapped = new ProcessDataGeneric(this); } } similarly public class ProcessDataTilskudd extends ProcessDataCommon { public ProcessDataTilskudd() { unwrapped = new ProcessDataGeneric(this); } } Now when I use these classes, I always need to do instanceof ProcessDataCommon pdc = null; if(processData.getDelegate() instanceof ProcessDataMotorferdsel) { pdc = (ProcessDataMotorferdsel) processData.getDelegate(); } else if(processData.getDelegate() instanceof ProcessDataTilskudd) { pdc = (ProcessDataTilskudd) processData.getDelegate(); } I know there is a better way to do this, but I have no idea how I can utilize Generics and the Visitor Pattern. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

  • Thread testing for time

    - by DanielFH
Hi there :) I'm making a thread for my application that's going to do an exit operation at a given time (only hours and minutes, day/month doesn't matter). Is this the right way to do it, and also the right way to test for time? I'm testing for a 24 hour clock by the way, not AM / PM. I'm then in another class going to call this something like new Thread(new ExitThread()).start(); public class ExitThread implements Runnable { @Override public void run() { Date date = new Date(System.currentTimeMillis()); String time = new SimpleDateFormat("HHmmss").format(date); int currentTime = Integer.parseInt(time); int exitTime = 233000; while(true) { try { Thread.sleep(10000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } if(currentTime >= exitTime ) { // do exit operation here } } } Thanks. //D

  • Why does DataInputStream not support integers?

    - by Jason
I need to read in a list of numbers from a file, none of which are larger than 32767. Originally I was going to use the Scanner class to pull in the data, then I read about DataInputStream. This would work well for me, except that according to the API, it supports all primitive variables EXCEPT ints! Listed are longs, shorts, bytes, chars, booleans, ect, but no ints. I have no need for double precision from the incoming data. Is this a deliberate or unintentional oversight?

  • I have to select the checkbox two times to check/uncheck in jTable

    - by 117526709403775781607
    I have a jTable code i intend to use, but the problem with it is that when i click on the checkbox once it doesn't select/deselect it, instead i have to click twice. But if i select any other cell in the row except the one containing the checkbox the purpose is solved. HERE IS MY CODE : public class TableSelectionTest extends JFrame implements ListSelectionListener { private final int COLUMN_COUNT = 5; private TblModel model; public TableSelectionTest() { initialize(); setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); } private void initialize() { List data = new ArrayList(); for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { Object record[] = new Object[COLUMN_COUNT]; record[0] = Boolean.FALSE; for (int j = 1; j < COLUMN_COUNT; j++) { record[j] = new Integer(j); } data.add(record); } model = new TblModel(data); JTable table = new JTable(model); table.getSelectionModel().setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION); table.getSelectionModel().addListSelectionListener (this); JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane(table); getContentPane().add(scroll, BorderLayout.CENTER); } public static void main(String[] args) { TableSelectionTest f = new TableSelectionTest(); f.show(); } class TblModel extends AbstractTableModel { private List data; public TblModel(List data) { this.data = data; } public int getColumnCount() { return COLUMN_COUNT; } public int getRowCount() { return data == null ? 0 : data.size(); } public void setValueAt(Object value, int rowIndex, int columnIndex) { getRecord(rowIndex)[columnIndex] = value; super.fireTableCellUpdated(rowIndex, columnIndex); } public Object getValueAt(int rowIndex, int columnIndex) { return getRecord(rowIndex)[columnIndex]; } public boolean isCellEditable(int rowIndex, int columnIndex) { if(columnIndex == 0) return true; else return false; } public Class getColumnClass(int columnIndex) { if (data == null || data.size() == 0) { return Object.class; } Object o = getValueAt(0, columnIndex); return o == null ? Object.class : o.getClass(); } private Object[] getRecord(int rowIndex) { return (Object[]) data.get(rowIndex); } } public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) { if (!e.getValueIsAdjusting()) { ListSelectionModel lsm = (ListSelectionModel) e.getSource(); int index = lsm.getMinSelectionIndex(); if(model.getRecord(index)[0] == Boolean.FALSE) model.setValueAt(Boolean.TRUE, index, 0); else if(model.getRecord(index)[0] == Boolean.TRUE) model.setValueAt(Boolean.FALSE, index, 0); } } } Please reply soon as it is bugging me a lot Thank you in advance :)

  • unable to set fields of a collection-property elements after changing their order (elements becoming

    - by Jaroslav Záruba
Hello I want to change order of objects in a collection, and then to access+modify fields of those items. Unfortunately the items somehow become 'deleted'. This is what I do... if(someCondition) { MainEvent mainEvent = pm.getObjectById(MainEvent.class, mainEventKey); /* * events in the original order * MainEvent.subEvents field is not in default fetch group, * therefore I also tried to add the named group into the * persistenceManeger fetch plan, no difference * (mainEvent is not instance of the Event sub/class BTW) */ List<Event> subEvents = mainEvent.getSubEvents(); // re-arrange the events according to keysOrdered { Map<Key, Event> eventMap = new HashMap<Key, Event>(); for(Event event : subEvents) eventMap.put(event.getKey(), event); List<Event> eventsOrdered = new LinkedList<Event>(); for(Key eventKey : keysOrdered) eventsOrdered.add(eventMap.put(eventKey, eventMap.get(eventKey))); // } // put the re-arranged items back into the collection property { subEvents.clear(); subEvents.addAll(eventsOrdered); // } pm.makePersistent(mainEvent); eventsOrdered = subEvents; } else eventsOrdered = getEventsUsingAlternateApproach(); /* * so by now the mainEvent variable does not exist; * could it be this lead the persistence manager to mark * my events as abandoned/obsolete/invalid/deleted...? */ for(Event event : eventsOrdered) event.setDate(new Date()); // -> "Cannot write fields to a deleted object" What am I doing wrong please?

  • [iText] Inserting Image onCloseDocument

    - by David
I'm trying to insert an image in the footer of my document using iText's onCloseDocument event. I have the following code: public void onCloseDocument(PdfWriter writer, Document document) { PdfContentByte pdfByte = writer.getDirectContent(); try { // logo is a non-null global variable Image theImage = new Jpeg(logo); pdfByte.addImage(theImage, 400.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 400.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } The code throws no exceptions, but it also fails to insert the image. This identical code is used onOpenDocument to insert the same logo. The only difference between the two methods are the coordinates in pdfByte.addImage. However, I've tried quite a few different coordinations in onCloseDocument and none of them appear anywhere in my document. Is there any troubleshooting technique for detecting content which is displayed off-page in a PDF? If not, can anyone see the problem with my onCloseDocument method? Edit: As a followup, it seems that onDocumentClose puts its content on page document.length() + 1 (according to its API). However, I don't know how to change the page number back to document.length() and place my logo on the last page.

  • Auto generation of Web Service sample, help and documentation

    - by orjan
We're using javax.jws.WebServices deployed in a Glassfish server, is there a way to auto generate documentation like the one ASMX services generates? ASMX services display methods in service ASMX services when running locally could be easily tested with a prebuilt form ASMX services provided a sample request and response XML message http://keithelder.net/blog/archive/2008/01/15/How-to-Get-Around-WCFs-Lack-of-a-Preview-Web.aspx In Glasshfish together with /test/TestApi?wsdl there's /test/TestApi?Tester but it doesn't work, I don't know if it can be used to provide similar features as above?
