    I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I honestly have exhausted my self searching for the last hour. I am looking for a quotation made about Microsofts software. It goes something along the lines of: "They may make 2nd grade crappy software, but by God they know how to design interfaces" It was by a somewhat popular open source personality about the lack of good interface design in open source software. Does any one know the exact quotation? It will be a great help if someone can point me in the right direction.

    Hi, We're experiencing a strange problem with Oracle RAC and McAfee anti-virus. As part of the installation of the Oracle RAC we disable anti virus as directed. We have had our RAC running fine, but when we came to re-enable the AV and reboot we got the BSOD. Abnormal Program Termination (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000035 (0x8E984678, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS Following the standard process of raising this problem with Microsoft they identify the problem and also a fix. Microsoft talk about too many file filter drivers being present and pushing the DFS upper limit beyond the default size. Upping this value, as per msdn, has no impact. We're able to recover from this BSOD by disabling AV. We don't have the problem if we run the AV service manually whilst the system is up. However, if we make the service automatic we fail to boot.     hi all, I am working on an iPhone application based on UITabBarController and UIViewControllers for each page. The app needs to run in portrait mode only, so every view controller + app delegate goes with this line of code: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } There is one view controller where I would like to pop up a UIImageView when the iPhone is rotaed to landscapeleft. The design of the image looks landscape, although the width and height are 320x460 ( so its portrait ). How can/should I detect this type of rotation manually, just in this specific view controller, withouth having an auto rotation on the entire view? Thomas UPDATE: Thanks!   • install linux guest on windows host using a .iso file on vmserver 2.0

    I have done this in vmserver 1.0. I set the Cd to point to the .iso file. Then I start the vm and it starts to install. I am on the summary screen. I have created a VM. I go to CD/DVD - edit I change the radio button to Host Medio Then I select ISO Image and Browse. Here is the problem: Then in my browser I get Inventory - Virtual Machine (directory) I don't know where that directory is. I have my ISO's in a folder on my desktop. I can't browse to my desktop. When I try to just put in a path such as c:\mydesktop\mylinuxdirectory\linux1.iso The following problems have been found:OKThe ISO Image File Path must be a valid file path in the format: "[datastore] /path/to/isoimage.iso". so how do I browse to an ISO? I can add the iso after I start the VM, but by then its too late and the VM says no Operating System installed.

  • What is the difference between #ifdef __IPHONE_3.2 and #if __IPHONE_3.2?

    Hi, I have an iphone app that needs to work for 3.1.3 for the iPhone and 3.2 for the iPad. It is an iPhone app that I want to work on the iPad. The main difference is the MPMoviePlayerController which introduces/and deprecates lots of things in 3.2. Since, the iPhone OS only goes up to 3.1.3 and the iPad is on 3.2, I need to seperate my code so it only compiles the required code for the respective OS. I can't use [[UIDevice currentDevice] model] because I end up with deprecated warnings on the 3.1.3 code. Also, UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad is new in 3.2 so it doesn't work well with 3.1.3... So, I decided to use this, which only compiles what is necessary for the particular OS: #if __IPHONE _3_2 //do 3.2 iPad stuff #else //do 3.1.3 iPhone/iPod Touch stuff #endif My question is... What is the difference between these? #ifdef __IPHONE_3_2 and #if __IPHONE_3_2 Thank you

    I have written a driver for a UART in omap4460 panda board running on Linux platform.I have enabled DMA in FIFO mode in UART.My user application transfers 100 bytes of data from user space to kernel buffer(DMA buffer). As soon as the DMA channel is enabled, data from DMA buffer is copied to FIFO which is then transmitted to TSR of UART.Since my FIFO size is 64bytes,only 64 bytes is transmitted to TSR. What should I do to transfer remaining bytes from DMA buffer to FIFO?/ IS there any overflow occuring?

    If I have a forums site with a large number of threads, will the search engine bot crawl the whole site every time? Say I have over 1,000,000 threads in my site, will they get crawled every time the bot crawls my site? or how does it work? I want my website to be indexed but I don't want the bot to kill my website! In other words I don't want the bot to keep crawling the old threads again and again every time it crawls my website. Also, what about the pages crawled before? Will the bot request them every time it crawls my website to make sure they are still on the site? I'm asking this because I only link to the latest threads, i.e. there's a page that contains a list of all the latest threads, but I don't link to the older threads, they have to be explicitly requested by URL, e.g. http://www.mysite.com/showthread.aspx?threadid=7 , will this work to stop the bot from bringing my site down and consuming all my bandwidth? P.S. The site is still under development but I want to know in order to design the site so that search engine bots don't bring it down. Thanks

I'm working on a project now that requires knowledge of how programmers work together on a piece of software in a company. How is the software compiled? Is it from the version control system?
