    I want to extract a word from a string column of a table. description =========================== abc order_id: 2 xxxx yyy aa mmm order_id: 3 nn kk yw Expected result set order_id =========================== 2 3 Table will at most have 100 rows, text length is ~256 char and column always has one order_id present. So performance is not an issue. In Oracle, I can use REGEXP_SUBSTR for this problem. How would I solve this in MySQL?

  • how could I store data within a GUID

    I have an application that I want to represent a users session (just small pieces of data here and there) within a GUID. Its a 16 HEX characters (so 16^16 possible values) string and I want to 'encode' some data within that GUID. How can I achieve this? I am really after any ideas and implementations here, Ive not yet decided on the best mechanism for it yet. I would also like encryption to be involved if possible... Thanks a lot Mark

    I am trying to encode a string into a safe url for generic purposes, and neither rawurlencode() nor urlencode() work when using CodeIgniter. I have used them and they work pefectly fine with straight PHP, but for whatever reason, it doesn't work. I haven't been able to find any others with this problem and thus no solution. For example if I wanted to find the number of bash processes running and get "5". Currently I have a script that does a 'pidof ' and then does a count on the tokenized string.     I have a business layer that has DTOs that are used in the presentation layer. This application uses entity framework. Here is an example of a class called RoleDTO: public class RoleDTO { public Guid RoleId { get; set; } public string RoleName { get; set; } public string RoleDescription { get; set; } public int? OrganizationId { get; set; } } In the BLL I want to have a method that returns a list of DTO. I would like to know which is the better approach: returning IQueryable or list of DTOs. Although I feel that returning IQueryable is not a good idea because the connection needs to be open. Here are the 2 different methods using the different approaches: First approach public class RoleBLL { private servicedeskEntities sde; public RoleBLL() { sde = new servicedeskEntities(); } public IQueryable<RoleDTO> GetAllRoles() { IQueryable<RoleDTO> role = from r in sde.Roles select new RoleDTO() { RoleId = r.RoleID, RoleName = r.RoleName, RoleDescription = r.RoleDescription, OrganizationId = r.OrganizationId }; return role; } Note: in the above method the DataContext is a private attribute and set in the constructor, so that the connection stays opened. I went to php.net and look it up "Note: A MySQL connection is required before using mysql_real_escape_string() otherwise an error of level E_WARNING is generated, and FALSE is returned. If link_identifier isn't defined, the last MySQL connection is used." My questions are: 1-why they put single quotation around mysql_real_escape_string ? 2-They should establish a connection first, then use the $filter array statement with mysql_real_escape_string ?

  • Given an array of arrays, how can I strip out the substring "GB" from each value?

    Each item in my array is an array of about 5 values.. Some of them are numerical ending in "GB".. I need the same array but with "GB" stripped out so that just the number remains. So I need to iterate through my whole array, on each subarray take each value and strip the string "GB" from it and create a new array from the output. Can anyone recommend and efficient method of doing this?

    I want to show a table with the list of strings which are localized. The straightforward method would be: a) Point data source to my ViewController b) Define an array c) Allocate the array in my ViewController and init (arrayWithObjects) it with the strings from localized resources (NSLocalizedString) d) Use this array in UITableViewDataSource delegated methods Mainly my concern is item b). The construction looks quite heavy and I wonder whether I can somehow specify and load whole list of localized string at once.
