  • Tabbed browsing, programaticaly navigating to another open tab

    - by jdr120
Hello, I'm in a discussion with my co-worker. We have a web application in a tabbed browsing environment, say with 2 tabs open. Tab2 has a link to tab1, when I click the link, it opens tab1 in a new tab. We want to detect if tab 1 is already open, if so then set focus to tab1 (and not open a new window). He has gotten this working in a broswer window environment, but says it is not possible in a tabbed environment. Is it possible to for javascript to determine if tab1 is already open and then just set focus to that tab? Thanks in advance!

  • How to make a web browser with tabbed browsing with vb 2008?

    - by felixd68
I've tried multiple times to create a web browser with tabbed browsing. I know that I have to use "tab control". I have succeeded in creating a semi-tabbed browsing. People are able to add new tabs, but the webbrowser component only appears in one tab page. Coding: Form1_Load: Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim Browse As New WebBrowser TabControl1.TabPages.Add(1, "TabPage" & i) TabControl1.SelectTab(1 - 1) Browse.Name = "wb" Browse.Dock = DockStyle.Fill TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls.Add(Browse) i = i + 1 End Sub Web Browser Component Private Sub WebBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs) url.Text = e.Url.ToString() 'your url text box will show the actual url of the page after the page is fully loaded url.Text = e.Url.ToString Me.Text = CType(TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls.Item(0), WebBrowser).DocumentTitle & " - Webbrowser's name" TabControl1.SelectedTab.Text = CType(TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls.Item(0), WebBrowser).DocumentTitle End Sub

  • Make browsing safe for porn surfers

    - by Brett G
At several places I've done some work at, I have a suspicion that some of the executives browse porn on their work computers. It appears this porn surfing has lead to virus infections on their computers despite the presence of an anti-virus. Filtering theses specific users' browsing is not an option, so what would be my next best solution be? I put Firefox + Adblock pro on their computers. I'm tempted to add NoScript, but I'm worried they'll start calling when noscript interferes with browsing on legit websites. Is there anything else I can due to mitigate this risk?

  • Personal Browsing Monitor Software [closed]

    - by jmadden93
Anyone know of any personal browsing monitor software? I'd like to be able to monitor my own browsing habbits and the time I spend on entertainment, vs work vs educational sites. Something that offers more than simply looking at the history feature built into browsers. It would be nice if it gave you a breakdown of how much time you spend on certain categories of sites like social media, vs video, vs. news, productivity, etc. I think it would be useful to know how one spends their time.

  • Need "starting point" hints about adding "tabbed" interface to Django admin

    - by Edwin
Hi, I'm new to the web development world - that means I'm new to javaScript/CSS. Now I'm building a web system with Python Django. I'm wondering would you like to give me some hints as the starting point for adding "tabbed" interface to Django admin? For example, there are 3 detail table for a master table, and I want to use 3 different tabs for editing that 3 detail tables in the 'edit' page for the master table. Thank you in advance!

  • jCarousel not working properly within tabbed menu

    - by user369292
Hi everybody, I'm riding three different jCarousel ul, one in each target of a tabbed menu designeb by Yetii. The problem issue is that the one in the first target works well, whereas the remaining two show just a slice of the first picture and slide soon onto a back frame. The jCarousel is initialized by a class as the behaviour required is the same for all targets: jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('.jcarousel-skin-tango').jcarousel({ wrap: 'circular', //size:8, scroll:1, animation:.10, auto:5, }); }); The ul have different id. Tried also initializing the script by separate id but nothing changed. Any suggestion on it? Thanks in advance - Mauirizio

  • HTG Explains: How Private Browsing Works and Why It Doesn’t Offer Complete Privacy

    - by Chris Hoffman
Private Browsing, InPrivate Browsing, Incognito Mode – it has a lot of names, but it’s the same basic feature in every browser. Private browsing offers some improved privacy, but it’s not a silver bullet that makes you completely anonymous online. Private Browsing mode changes the way your browser behaves, whether you’re using Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Opera or any other browser – but it doesn’t change the way anything else behaves. • jquery tabbed interface breaks when using images

    - by Steve
hello all, using jquery to create a tabbed interface. coding is quite typical: html: <div id="tabbed-interface"> <ul> <li><a href="#option1">Option1</a></li> <li><a href="#option2">Option2</a></li> <li><a href="#option3">Option3</a></li> </ul> </div> jquery: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#tabbed-interface li:first').addClass('active'); $('#tabbed-interface div').not(':first').hide(); $('#tabbed-interface>ul>li>a').click(function(event){ $('#tabbed-interface>ul>li').removeClass('active'); $(event.target).parent().addClass('active'); $('#tabbed-interface>div').fadeOut().filter(this.hash).fadeIn(250); return false;});}); css: ul li {background: #232323; list-style: none; border: 1px solid #616161; } ul li.active {background: none; list-style: none; border: 1px solid: #616161; border-bottom: 1px solid #121212; z-index: 1; } as you can see, all this does is add the class 'active' to the li that is clicked, and this corresponds to whether a background is shown or not. this works perfectly with text, but i am required to use non standard fonts. when i try to side step the issue using transparent .png images, it is unreliable. For instance, changing the HTML to: <div id="tabbed-interface"> <ul> <li><a href="#option1"><img src="option1.png" /></a></li>

  • Browsing a Folder

    - by Md. Rashim Uddin
browser.BrowseObject(PIDLFromPath, NativeMethods.SBSP_ABSOLUTE); It works great in explorer, and for the common dialog. However, when running Office XP, it goes nuts. The view on the screen is refreshed, and shows the contents of the new folder correctly. However, the Combo Box up the top of the dialog still references the original IShellFolder object where the Context menu was initiated. How should I change this IShellFiolder object in the Combo Box?

  • Automated browsing with javascript?

    - by Paul Wicks
I'm trying to do some browser automation, but I'm having some problems. Basically, what I'd like to do is load a set pages, set some forms options, click a button and view the results for each page that I open. Originally, I tried to do this by placing the pages I wanted to automate in iframes and then using javascript to drive the interactions I want in each, but that results in a Permissions Error, since the sites I want to automate are not on my server. Is there any way around this? The other possibility I've thought of is to use QT's webkit class and the evaluateJavaScript method to accomplish what I'd like to do, but this seems a bit more heavy weight for something that is, conceptually, pretty simple.

  • Using JDialog with Tabbed Pane to draw different pictures [migrated]

    - by Bryam Ulloa
I am using NetBeans, and I have a class that extends to JDialog, inside that Dialog box I have created a Tabbed Pane. The Tabbed Pane contains 6 different tabs, with 6 different panels of course. What I want to do is when I click on the different tabs, a diagram is supposed to be drawn with the paint method. My question is how can I draw on the different panels with just one paint method in another class being called from the Dialog class? Here is my code for the Dialog class: package GUI; public class NewJDialog extends javax.swing.JDialog{ /** * Creates new form NewJDialog */ public NewJDialog(java.awt.Frame parent, boolean modal) { super(parent, modal); initComponents(); } /** * This method is called from within the constructor to initialize the form. * WARNING: Do NOT modify this code. • Enhance Your Browsing with Hyperwords in Firefox

    - by Asian Angel
While browsing it is easy to find information that you would like to know more about, convert, or translate. The Hyperwords extension provides access to these types of resources and more in Firefox. Using Hyperwords Once the extension has finished installing you will be presented with a demo video that will let you learn more about how Hyperwords works. For our first example we chose to look for more information concerning “WASP-12b” using Wikipedia. Notice the small bluish circle on the lower right of the highlighted term…it is the default access for the Hyperwords menu (access by hovering mouse over it). If you hover over the the Wikipedia (or other) link you can access the information in a scrollable popup window. Or if you prefer click on the link to view the information in a new tab. Choose the style that best suits your needs. Hyperwords is extremely useful for quick unit conversions. Suppose you want to share a news story that you have found while browsing. Highlight the title, access Hyperwords, and choose your preferred sharing source. You may need to authorize access for Hyperwords to post to your account. Once you have authorized access you can start sharing those links very easily. This is just a small sampling of Hyperwords many useful features. Preferences Hyperwords has a nice set of preferences available to help you customize it. Alter the menu popup style, add or remove menu entries, and modify other functions for Hyperwords. Conclusion Hyperwords makes a nice addition to Firefox for anyone needing quick access to search, reference, translation, and other services while browsing. • How to Backup and Transfer Opera Settings, Profiles, and Browsing Sessions

    - by Lori Kaufman
We’ve previously shown you how to backup Firefox profiles using an extension and third-party software and how to backup Google Chrome profiles. If you use Opera, there is a free tool that makes it easy to backup Opera profiles, settings, and even browsing sessions. Opera offers a sync service, called Opera Link, which allows you to sync your bookmarks, personal bar, history, Speed Dial, notes, and search engines with other computers. However, this service does not sync your current browsing sessions and passwords. We found a free tool, called Stu’s Opera Settings Import & Export tool, that allows you to export all your Opera settings, profiles, and browsing sessions to an archive and import it into Opera on the same or another computer. Stu’s Opera Settings Import & Export tool is portable and does not need to be installed. Simply download the .zip file using the link at the end of this article. • How can I make Firefox remember my session while still clearing browsing history on close?

    - by Philip
I am aware, thanks to this thread ( https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/381229 ), that Firefox doesn't save sessions when browsing history is cleared at close, as effectively the open tabs are themselves cleared from the history before the session is saved. But I would like Firefox to behave differently. Is there any way to change Firefox's behavior so it will clear my browsing history when it closes, but remember only that a certain list of tabs were open, and then restore those tabs when it opens (not even necessarily with those tabs' histories)? I'm running FF 3.5.6 on Mac OS X 10.5. Thanks.

  • Source Browsing in FireFox

    - by lavanyadeepak
Source Browsing in FireFox Just casually observed this a few minutes back with my Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3. When you do a view source of any  page in Internet Explorer it just renders as editable inoperative HTML. However in Firefox the hyperlinks are shown clickable and active. When you click on any hyperlink the most obvious and expected output would be that the target page would appear in one of the new tab in the parent browser. However the View Source window refreshed with the HTML source of the new page. I believe this gesture of Firefox would help us to take a journey back into Lynx Text Browsing in a way.

  • Evidence for automatic browsing - Log file analysis

    - by Nilani Algiriyage
I'm analyzing web server logs both in Apache and IIS log formats. I want to find the evidence for automatic browsing, like web robots, spiders, bots, etc. I used python robot-detection 0.2.8 for detecting robots in my log files, but I know there may be other robots (automatic programs) which have traversed through the web site but robot-detection can not identify. So I want to ask: Are there any specific clues that can be found in log files that human users do not leave but automated software would? Do they follow a specific navigation pattern? I saw some requests for favicon.ico - does this implicate that it is a automatic browsing?. I found this article and this question with some valuable points.
