  • ruby on rails photo upload problem

    Hallo rails version 2.3.5 I'm learning rails and I run into a problem. I'm doing some nesting forms from the railscasts tutorials. I changed the text area into a data field to upload photos and everything is working. Now i have to display the uploaded pictures and i simply can't do it. I Tried everything I could find on the net but nothing worked.   • Can you explain what's going on in this Ruby code?

    I'm trying to learn Ruby as well as Ruby on Rails right now. I'm following along with Learning Rails, 1st edition, but I'm having a hard time understanding some of the code. I generally do work in C, C++, or Java, so Ruby is a pretty big change for me. I'm currently stumped with the following block of code for a database migrator: def self.up create_table :entries do |t| t.string :name t.timestamps end end Where is the t variable coming from? What does it actually represent? Is it sort of like the 'i' in a for(i=0;i<5;i++) statement? Also, where is the :entries being defined at? (entries is the name of my controller, but how does this function know about that?)

    I'm trying to install the latest version of #Develop but am getting the message This setup requires the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed I'm running Windows 7, and I've tried running the installer for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 plus the installer for the Windows 7 SDK. The installer just says to use the Control Panel to turn Windows Features on and off to configure .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Anyone got any suggestions ?

  • How can I create an .xls file with a readwrite password from Delphi

    I know that it is possible to create .xls files from Delphi using ADO, OLE automation with Excel and even using several commercial libraries. My requirement now is not just creating a new .xls file and adding data to it but in addition protecting it with a password against editing. I guess this would be possible using OLE automation but that would require an Excel installation on the computer and also add all the potential hassle of OLE automation which I would like to avoid. Does any of the other solutions provide the option of password protecting the file? (Yes, I know this is far from secure, but the customer requests it. Just in case it matters: I am using Delphi 2007.)

  • [WordPress] Need help with remove_action()

    I'm trying to remove the unsightly embedded <STYLE> tag the built-in Recent Comments widget puts in my <HEAD>, but I can't seem to get the syntax right. It originally calls add_action( 'wp_head', array(&$this, 'recent_comments_style') ); to add it (in wp-includes/default-widgets.php, line 609), and I'm trying to undo it. I think it should be something like this: remove_action('wp_head', 'WP_Widget_Recent_Comments::recent_comments_style'); but with all the variations I've tried I still can't get it right. Does anyone know how to achieve this? Possibly Helpful: Function Reference: remove_action

  • How can I find out what's uploading traffic to the internet?

    Some program I'm running is constantly uploading to the Internet. It's uploaded 300MB in the last few hours. I could reboot and see if it stops, but I'd prefer to find out what it is if possible. I've tried using the resource monitor but it's totally nonsensical - even if I run a broadband speedtest, it barely registers any traffic. Ideally I'd like to find a tool which can tell me the current bandwidth of each application. I think NetLimiter used to work on XP but it's not supported for Windows 7.

  • How to setup matlab for parallel processing on Amazon EC2?

    I just setup a Extra Large Heavy Computation EC2 instance to throw it at my Genetic Algorithms problem, hoping to speed up things. This instance has 8 Intel Xeon processors (around 2.4Ghz each) and 7 Gigs of RAM. On my machine I have an Intel Core Duo, and matlab is able to work with my two cores just fine. On the EC2 instance though, matlab only is capable of detecting 1 out of 8 processors. Obviously the difference is that I have my 2 cores on a single processor, while the EC2 instance has 8 distinct processors. My question is, how do I get matlab to work with those 8 processors? I found this paper, but it seems related to setting up matlab with multiple EC2 instances, which is not my problem. Any help appreciated!

  • Parent/master project in git

    I have a project "A" that is a Git repository. I would like to be able to make multiple copies of project A (B and C), and modify them for clients. "A" is the master so sometimes when I do new functionality i would like to be able to pull them into B or C. But some commits should just stay in A and only be used if making a new clone. How do I do that with Git? That is: how to copy A? (Clone?) how to get specific commits into B and C? Please keep in mind that this all happening locally - not on GitHub. I use OS X.

    I know REST is meant to be resource-oriented, which roughly translates to CRUD operations on these resources using standard HTTP methods. But what I just wanted to update a part of a resource? For example, let's say I have Payment resource and I wanted to mark its status as "paid". I don't want to POST the whole Payment object through HTTP (sometimes I don't even have all the data). What would be the RESTful way of doing this? I've seen that Twitter uses the following approach for updating Twitter statuses: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.xml?status=playing with cURL and the Twitter API Is this approach in "the spirit" of REST?   • Application design in Spring MVC

    Hello All, I'm new to Spring MVC and trying out a simple project.It will contain a simple adding, viewing, updating and deleting user work flows. It will have login page and once authenticated the user will be taken to a welcome screen which will have links to add, view, update and delete users. Clicking on any of the links will take to individual pages where the user can do the specific tasks. What I'm doing here is, I'm using a MultiActionController to group together all requests related to User work flow. So the request from "Add User" link will handled by the addUser method in the UserController which will redirect the user to the "Add User" page, and the user can then fill in the details and save the new user. Now here is where I'm getting confused. Where should I put the save process of the new user, should I put that in new mehtod inside UserController, or use the same "addUser" method. What is the best way to handle this kind of scenario. I hope I was able to clear my question.

  • Coordinating 3 instances of Cycle on one page

    I have 3 images, all same size, across top of page horizontally. I'd like to use Cycle to fade each instance very slowly, but I'd also like make sure the transitions do not start all at the same time, but are staggered. Is there somewhere this can be specified? If anyone can recommend a very slow fade rate, plus a way to prevent all 3 from fading/regenerating at the same time, I'd be very grateful! I assume I can run 3 instances of cycle using different classes for each container, and assure that no two photos are the same by "stacking" them in different orders within the divs ... yes?   • Identifying PHP unused variables (in Emacs)?

    Is it somehow possible to identify unused variables in a PHP file in Emacs? With other languages, this is possible by using tools such as flymake. I've already enabled Flymake to show syntax errors for my PHP files on the fly, but still it's frustrating that PHP logic errors are sometimes due to situations like: <?php $foo = whatever(); $bar = something($fo); ... Note the typo on $foo that will contribute to the developer's headache and to his exorbitant use of coffee.

  • slidepanel/hover help

    I'm trying to create a menu navigation system from the top of the page. I want it so when I hover over the link, it drops down (the link drops down; so it'd be as if there was a whole field being hidden beyond the 0px mark) with the related field. I've gotten it to work, somehow but it still isn't right. A few issues are: when I hover over .drop_slide and then if I choose to close it by hovering back over the .drop_slide it does as it's told, which is "slide, slide". I'm interested in rectifying this issue so it doesn't do that, however I just don't know how. The idea is to have multiple links in the .slide, so I need it to be constantly open while the user mouses over the other links. Should this be created in one field? If so, how would I do that with a drop down in mind? Am I approaching this completely wrong? Lol. Should I be researching into .animate? I've been looking at it actually, but I can't get anything to grow negatively. Say; marginTop: -85px or something.   • .NET ThreadPool QueueUserWorkItem Synchronization

    I am employing ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem to play some sound files and not hanging up the GUI while doing so. It is working but has an undesirable side effect. While the QueueUserWorkItem CallBack Proc is being executed there is nothing to stop it from starting a new thread. This causes the samples in the threads to overlap. How can I make it so that it waits for the already running thread to finish running and only then run the next request? EDIT: I did: Thread t = new Thread(FireAttackProc(fireResult)); t.Start(); but it gave me some errors. How do I specify a thread method with parameters?
