  • How do you printf an unsigned long long int?

    - by superjoe30
#include <stdio.h>int main() { unsigned long long int num = 285212672; //FYI: fits in 29 bits int normalInt = 5; printf("My number is %d bytes wide and its value is %ul. A normal number is %d.\n", sizeof(num), num, normalInt); return 0;} Output: My number is 8 bytes wide and its value is 285212672l. A normal number is 0. I assume this unexpected result is from printing the unsigned long long int. How do you printf an unsigned long long int?

  • Using installshield to replace a same-versioned DLL in the GAC

    - by Kevin
We recently put out an update of one of our apps with a "test" DLL from a third party. The third party does not update their assembly versions on the dll's, only the file versions, so multiple apps can reference different "versions" of it. However, the GAC still allows us to keep the newest version, because it also checks the file version which is always updated. What happened is we were not ready to release this DLL, but it got out there on some customer machines. I would like to put our current live version back out there, but it has an older file version (and the same assembly version) as the test DLL. We have multiple apps referencing this DLL, so I can't simply delete it and drop in the new one. Is there a way to replace the DLL in the GAC? I'm using installshield 2009. Perhaps some sort of custom action upon install?

  • Error releasing Grails plugin

    - by Don
Hi, I checked out the trunk of my plugin from the Grails svn repo, made some changes, incremented the version number to 0.2.1, then ran release-plugin. It failed with the error shown below: Checking in plugin zip... Updating from SVN... Updated to revision 61343. Committing local, please wait... Enter a SVN commit message: Fixed bug with controller dependency version and upgraded to grails 1.2.2 Committing code. Please wait... Does anyone know what the problem could be, and is there some way I can verify that the password I'm using is correct?

  • RabbitMQ serializing messages from queue with multiple consumers

    - by Refefer
Hi there, I'm having a problem where I have a queue set up in shared mode and multiple consumers bound to it. The issue is that it appears that rabbitmq is serializing the messages, that is, only one consumer at a time is able to run. I need this to be parallel, however, I can't seem to figure out how. Each consumer is running in its own process. There are plenty of messages in the queue. I'm using py-amqplib to interface with RabbitMQ. Any thoughts?

  • from ObjectiveC to ECMAscript

    - by eco_bach
Going thru the excellent Apress books on Objective C. To help in my undertanding, I try and recode any Ojective C code samples in Java/Action-script. One common structure in method calls in ObjC leaves me a bit puzzled. -(id) initWithPressure: (float) pressure treadDepth: (float) treadDepth; (in ECMAscript)Would this be most similar to 1 method call with multiple arguments OR 2 method calls, each with a single argument?

  • Wrong keymap in games under OSX

    - by Lo'oris
While it's somewhat related to gaming, I believe this kind of question definitely belongs here. On most games, I have a very weird problem related to keymap: they apparently load a wrong map, i.e. a legacy one that has not been used since 68k AFAIK, that is a QZERTY, with M to the right of the L. I can't understand why this happens, I guess they use a bugged library for getting keyboard input, I'm not sure. While I can actually bind the keys using this map, sometimes it prevents me from binding some, such as the numbers. A very odd workaround happens with Urban Terror: if I enable and disable fullscreen, it reverts to the correct keymap (didn't try this on other games, such as Aquaria). It may or may not be useful to know that I use a custom keymap but even if I select the standard keymap before starting the game the problem happens anyway.

  • Why does document.evaluate succeed in Firebug but fail in Selenium?

    - by anil
browser.getEval function in selenium makes iterateNext return null ..Otherwise in firebug it returns a value(same script) document.evaluate("//button[text()='Save']", document, null, XPathResult.ANY_TYPE, null) .iterateNext() .disabled; returns true But browser.getEval("document.evaluate(\"//button[text()='Save']\", document, null, XPathResult.ANY_TYPE, null) .iterateNext() .disabled;"); returns that error as : "com.thoughtworks.selenium.SeleniumException: ERROR: Threw an exception: res.iterateNext() is null "

  • synchronizing audio over a network

    - by sharkin
I'm in startup of designing a client/server audio system which can stream audio arbitrarily over a network. One central server pumps out an audio stream and x number of clients receives the audio data and plays it. So far no magic needed and I have even got this scenario to work with VLC media player out of the box. However, the tricky part seems to be synchronizing the audio playback so that all clients are in audible synch (actual latency can be allowed as long as it is perceived to be in sync by a human listener). My question is if there's any known method or algorithm to use for these types of synchronization problems (video is probably solved the same way). My own initial thoughts centers around synchronizing clocks between physical machines and thereby creating a virtual "main timer" and somehow aligning audio data packets against it. Some products already solving the problem: http://www.sonos.com http://netchorus.com/ Any pointers are most welcome. Thanks. PS: This related question seem to have died long ago.

  • Shutting down a windows service that has threads

    - by Dave
I have a windows service written in .NET 3.5 (c#) with a System.Threading.Timer that spawns several Threads in each callback. These are just normal threads (no Thread Pool) and I've set the IsBackground = true on each thread since I'm only going to be running managed code. When a user stops the service, what happens to all the threads? Do they die gracefully? I don't have any code that manages the threads via calling join or abort. Is it correct to assume the IsBackground = true is enough to assume the threads will be disposed and stopped when a user stops the service? What exactly happens when someone stops a windows service via the Service Manager GUI? Does it kill the process after it fires the OnStop event? This would actually be acceptable for me because I've built a separate mechanism that allows a user know for sure there are no threads before they stop the service. This is done via 2 WCF methods exposed from a ServiceHost that runs inside the Windows Service. There's one method to stop spawning new threads and another method to query how many running threads there are left. I'm just curious what happens if they skip those steps and just stop the service... It seems the IsBackground helps achieve this:

  • Three20 Library Cannot find its own headers Xcode iPhone

    - by DieLaughing
import "Three20/Three20.h" Fails. Go download it and build a sample app. If that works, then make a new app from the templates provided, then watch as it fails spectacularly to find the right HEADER_SEARCH_PATH. 1) I've gone to the info page for the TARGET and not the PROJECT (Well, I tried both) and tried a bunch of different paths for the HEADER_SEARCH_PATH field. 2) I've tried dragging and dropping the dependent files from the finder and COPYING or just referencing both fails. (RANT: WTF?! Really? I wish public code libraries saved me time ONCE in my life.)

  • C++ template typedef

    - by Notinlist
I have a class template<size_t N, size_t M> class Matrix { // .... }; I want to make a typedef which creates a Vector (column vector) which is equivalent to a Matrix with sizes N and 1. Something like that: typedef Matrix<N,1> Vector<N>; Which produces compile error. The following creates something similar, but not exactly what I want: template <int N> class Vector: public Matrix<N,1> { }; Is there a solution or a not too expensive workaround / best-practice for it? Thanks in advance!

  • Trouble converting an MP3 file to a WAV file using Naudio

    - by WebDevHobo
Naudio Library: http://naudio.codeplex.com/ I'm trying to convert an MP3 file to a WAV file, but I've run in to a small error. I know what's going wrong, but I don't really know how to go about fixing it. Here's the piece of code I'm running: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { using(Mp3FileReader reader = new Mp3FileReader(@"path\to\MP3")) { using(WaveFileWriter writer = new WaveFileWriter(@"C:\test.wav", new WaveFormat())) { int counter = 0; while(reader.Read(test, counter, test.Length + counter) != 0) { writer.WriteData(test, counter, test.Length + counter); counter += 512; } } } } reader.Read() goes into the Mp3FileReader class, and the method looks like this: public override int Read(byte[] sampleBuffer, int offset, int numBytes) { if (numBytes % waveFormat.BlockAlign != 0) //throw new ApplicationException("Must read complete blocks"); numBytes -= (numBytes % waveFormat.BlockAlign); return mp3Stream.Read(sampleBuffer, offset, numBytes); } mp3Stream is an object of the Stream class. The problem is: I'm getting an ArgumentException. MSDN says that this is because the sum of offset and numBytes is greater than the length of sampleBuffer. Documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.stream.read.aspx This happens because I increase the counter every time, but the size of the byte array test remains the same. What I've been wondering is: do I need to increase the size of the array dynamically, or do I need to find out the needed size at the beginning and set it right away? And also, instead of 512, the method in Mp3FileReader returns 365 the first time. Which is the size of a whole block. But I'm writing the full 512. I'm basically just using the read to check if I'm not at the end of the file yet. Do I need to catch the return value and do something with that, or am I good here?

  • Can't get websrvmng to run in Plesk SSH terminal.

    - by JohnB
I am following this MediaTemple KB article and stuck at the last step. When I try to run the websrvmng (using the ssh terminal in Plesk) using the code the KB references: /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -v -a I receive a 'File or Directory not found' error. I am a n00b when it comes to this stuff and would really appreciate any advice/suggestions for how to get websrvmng to run. I have searched through tons of articles on it but found nothing more illuminating than the above code. I am sure I'm overlooking something simple (login as root to run? something I need to replace in the code like usr?). It is a MediaTemple DV server running CentOS 5 and as I said using Plesk. I desperately need to get this to work and I am pulling my hair out, so as I said any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Qt 4.7 QtDeclarative headers

    - by bitc
I installed Qt 4.7 beta on OS X. Then I wanted to try out the declarative module: The doc says #include <QtDeclarative> The Minehunt example says #include <qdeclarative.h> Neither is found! Most of the other header files are where they are supposed to be: /Library/Frameworks/Qt*.framework/Versions/4/Headers What do I do?

  • lwjgl applets 101: How can I write them?

    - by Vuntic
I have a working app in lwjgl. It doesn't do much yet; I've just started, but it does compile and run like it's supposed to. I want to make it into an applet. I've followed the guide here, and I have an applet that runs nicely and displays text and such in the applet area and can access the functions of lwjgl (like Sys.alert), but I can't figure out how to get opengl to actually render. I've tried extending an AWTGLCanvas and calling this.add(myAWTGLCanvas), where this is the Applet that I'm using, but... nothing. The initGL() and paintGL() methods never get called. I wonder if I'm supposed to be doing something with Display, but that's not for applets, right? Help? Also: This counts as a "beginner" question, right?

  • is it possible to create a multi-project template that references n number of existing projects and

    - by jcollum
The situation: I need to create about 40+ solutions that all reference 3 projects and have one project that is unique to each one. I'd like to create a multi-project template that does this, but from what I've read it looks like it's very difficult or impossible (related SO question, but doesn't answer). I want my solution to look like this (names changed of course): These three are used by all solutions created under this "family": MyCompany.Extensions MyCompany.MyProject.Tests.Shared MyCompany.MyProject.Scripts This one is the one that makes the solution unique, 123, 124, 125 etc: MyCompany.MyProject.Tests.Unit123 Is it possible to set up a multi-project template that will generate this structure? • Touch Screen Product Catalog for Retail Store

    - by Patrick
I am a UI/UX designer and I would like to create kiosk type of app that would be a product catalog (help/suggestor) for customers in a retail store using a touch screen monitor (and computer). Something as simple as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoH0u6YTTK4 This is what I would like it to do: 1st Screen (Main Menu): Pick a type of category (For example: Dog, Cat, Small Animal) 2nd Screen pick a sub-category of a main category (For example: Puppy, Adult, Senior - DOG) 3rd Screen pick a sub-category of previous sub-category (For example: Food, Healthy, Toys) Then it will display a list of all products with a picture, small description, and price. Thats it. So the point of the kiosk is to help customers find certain products that match their pet criteria. (Dog Puppy Healthy Dog Food) I am wondering what is the best solution: RIA (Flex/Air or Silveright) or flash/action script. I am not sure what is the best technology to use for the following benefits: user-experience (smoothness of touch screen actions) and fast development.
