  • Over 200 active requests like "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - "-" "Apache (internal dummy connection)"

    - by Stefan Lasiewski
Some details: Webserver: Apache/2.2.13 (FreeBSD) mod_ssl/2.2.13 OpenSSL/0.9.8e OS: FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE This is a FreeBSD Jail. I believe I use the Apache 'prefork' MPM (I run the default for FreeBSD). I use the default values for MaxClients (256) I have enabled mod_status, with "ExtendedStatus On". When I view /server-status , I see a handful of regular requests. I also see over 230 requests from the 'localhost', like these: 37-0 - 0/0/1 . 0.00 1510 0 0.0 0.00 0.00 127.0.0.2 www.example.gov OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0 38-0 - 0/0/1 . 0.00 1509 0 0.0 0.00 0.00 127.0.0.2 www.example.gov OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0 39-0 - 0/0/3 . 0.00 1482 0 0.0 0.00 0.00 127.0.0.2 www.example.gov OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0 40-0 - 0/0/6 . 0.00 1445 0 0.0 0.00 0.00 127.0.0.2 www.example.gov OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0 I also see about 2417 requests yesterday from the localhost, like these: Apr 14 11:16:40 192.168.16.127 httpd[431]: www.example.gov 127.0.0.2 - - [15/Apr/2010:11:16:40 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - "-" "Apache (internal dummy connection)" The page at http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/InternalDummyConnection says "These requests are perfectly normal and you do not, in general, need to worry about them", but I'm not so sure. Why are there over 230 of these? Are these active connections? If I have "MaxClients 256", and over 230 of these connections, it seems that my webserver is dangerously close to running out of available connections. It also seems like Apache should only need a handful of these "internal dummy connections" We actually had two unexplained outages last night, and I am wondering if these "internal dummy connection" caused us to run out of available connections.

  • Oracle HTTP Server access_log - GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0 200 7001 entries

    - by Pavan
    access_log shows the following entries repeatedly, seems like it is polling some thing. There were so many entries keep on adding to the log, making it difficult to debug for actual error message. aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd - - [07/Nov/2012:00:02:48 -0800] "HEAD /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 - abc.bcd.cda.dab - - [07/Nov/2012:00:02:50 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dac - - [07/Nov/2012:00:02:51 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dab - - [07/Nov/2012:00:02:56 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dac - - [07/Nov/2012:00:02:56 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dab - - [07/Nov/2012:00:03:01 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dac - - [07/Nov/2012:00:03:01 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dab - - [07/Nov/2012:00:03:06 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 abc.bcd.cda.dac - - [07/Nov/2012:00:03:06 -0800] "GET /error/404.html HTTP/1.0" 200 7001 aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd - - [07/Nov/2012:00:03:08 -0800] "HEAD /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 - how to avoid these repeating entries?

  • Apache logs: "::1 ... "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 -

    - by Meltemi
Just looking at logs of a not-so-busy site on one of our Apache servers and notice tons of these in the log: ::1 - - [15/Apr/2011:12:11:40 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - ::1 - - [15/Apr/2011:12:11:41 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - ::1 - - [15/Apr/2011:12:11:44 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - They seem to appear multiple times just below the GET requests where Apache has served a page & its related images. what do they mean? what IP is "::1"? if they're benign can I suppress them?

  • htaccess correct, Apache logs still showing the evil visitors with 200 code

    - by bulgin
I hope someone can help me. Please take a look at the following snippet of Apache logs: 95-169-172-157.evilvisitor.com - - [12/Nov/2012:09:46:02 -0500] "GET /the-page-I-dont-want-to-deliver.html HTTP/1.1" 200 9171 "http://hackers.ru/" "Mozilla/4.0 (MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Search)" I have the following included in my .htaccess for the root directory of the website and there are no other .htaccess files anywhere that would affect this: RewriteEngine On Options +FollowSymLinks ServerSignature Off ErrorDocument 403 "Nothing Interesting Here" order allow, deny deny from evilvisitor.com deny from hackers.ru deny from anonymouse.org allow from all I also have GeoIP functioning properly and have this included there: #for stuff from different countries RewriteCond %{ENV:GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE} ^(UA|TR|RU|RO|LV|CZ|IR|HR|KR|TW|NO|NL|NO|IL|SE) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ [R=F,L I know this works because whenever I attempt to access the website from a proxy in say, Spain, I get the error message. I also know it works because when accessing the website from anonymouse.org, the proper error code page is displayed. So then why am I still getting these visitors who successfully access the page I don't want them to see with an Apache 200 code when it should be an error code?

  • SQL Contest – Win 10 Amazon Gift Cards worth (USD 200) and 10 NuoDB T-Shirts

    - by Pinal Dave
This month, we have yet not run any contest so we will be running a very interesting contest with the help of good guys at NuoDB. NuoDB has just released version 2.0 and You can download NuoDB from here. NuoDB’s NewSQL distributed database is designed to be a single database that works across multiple servers, which can scale easily, and scale on demand. That’s one system that gives high connectivity but no latency, complexity or maintenance issues. MySQL works in some circumstances, but a period of growth isn’t one of them. So as a company moves forward, the MySQL database can’t keep pace. Data storage and data replication errors creep in. Soon the diaspora of the offices becomes a problem. Your telephone system isn’t just distributed, it is literally all over the place. You can read my detailed article about how Why VoIP Service Providers Should Think About NuoDB’s Geo Distribution. Here is the contest: Contest Part 1: NuoDB R2.0 delivered a long list of improvements and new features. List three of the major features of NuoDB 2.0. Here is the hint1, hint2, hint3. Contest Part 2: Download NuoDB using this link. Once you download NuoDB, leave a comment over here with the name of the platform and installer size. (For example Windows Platform Size abc.dd MB) Here is the what you can win! Giveaways 10 Amazon Gift Card (Each of USD 20 – total USD 200) 10 Amazingly looking NuoDB T-Shirts (For the first 10 downloads) Rules Participate before Oct 28, 2013. All the valid answers will be published after Oct 28, 2013 and winners will receive an email on Nov 1st, 2013. • Getting the alternative to the 200-Line Linux Kernel patch to work

    - by Gödel
Apparently, there is a comparable alternative to the 200-line kernel patch that involves no kernel upgrade. It is presented here and discussed here. However, I am not sure if webupd8's solution (under the section "Use it in Ubuntu") on Ubuntu actually works or not. In particular, one commenter on ./ is saying he's getting an error message. Could anyone post the "correct" method that actually works? Suggested solution: Based on the comments I've read so far, the following seems to work. (1) In /etc/rc.local, add the following lines to above exit 0: mkdir -p /dev/cgroup/cpu mount -t cgroup cgroup /dev/cgroup/cpu -o cpu mkdir -m 0777 /dev/cgroup/cpu/user echo "/usr/local/sbin/cgroup_clean" > /dev/cgroup/cpu/release_agent (2) Create a file named /usr/local/sbin/cgroup_clean with the following content: #!/bin/sh rmdir /dev/cgroup/cpu/$1 (3) In your ~/.bashrc, add: if [ "$PS1" ] ; then mkdir -m 0700 /dev/cgroup/cpu/user/$$ echo $$ > /dev/cgroup/cpu/user/$$/tasks echo "1" > /dev/cgroup/cpu/user/$$/notify_on_release fi (4) (To make sure the execution bit is on) execute sudo chmod +x /usr/local/sbin/cgroup_clean /etc/rc.local (5) Reboot.

  • How do I change pages registering as 404 to 200

    - by christian
I have this problem. After relaunching my site: http://www.kgstiles.com, traffic dropped immensely(about 60%). After troubleshooting for a week and a half - losing thousands of dollars off of lost traffic in the process, I found that Google was getting a 404 error at the end of many of my 301 redirects(so it wouldn't index the new pages). Most of of the pages, though, would register in my browser. They registered as a 404 error in Google's index as well as a 404checker. So my first question is: could this be what's causing my loss of traffic? and second: how do I fix it? I'm desperate! Any help is appreciated! # BEGIN s2Member GZIP exclusions <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (^|\?|&)s2member_file_download\=.+ RewriteRule .* - [E=no-gzip:1] </IfModule> # END s2Member GZIP exclusions # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^moreinfo/(.*)$ http://www.kgstiles.com/moreinfo$1 [R=301] RewriteRule ^healthsolutions/(.*)$ http://www.kgstiles.com/healthsolutions$1 [R=301] RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ $1/ [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^(.*)\.htm$ $1/ [R=301,L] </IfModule> # END WordPress

  • Bad motherboard / controller / HDs?

    - by quidpro
    On a leased server, I am running into some timing issues with an application that requires precise timing. Server is a Dual Xeon E5410 running on a Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard under CentOs 5.5 x64. The application I am running is timer sensitive and keeps sensing drift whether under load or at idle, but especially under load. I did some investigating with atop and dd and found some mind-blowing numbers. Mind you, I am no Linux guru but something sure seems out of whack. I ran: dd bs=4096 if=/dev/zero of=/bigtestfile to generate disk activity. Regardless whether I wrote it to sda or sdb my DSK value in atop would go over 100%, at one time peaking at 1700%. Again it does not matter if I am writing to sda or sdb. DSK | sdb | busy 675% | read 0 | write 110 | avio 78 ms | Here are the smartctl outputs: # smartctl -A /dev/sda smartctl version 5.38 [x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ === START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION === SMART Attributes Data Structure revision number: 16 Vendor Specific SMART Attributes with Thresholds: ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE UPDATED WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE 1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000b 200 200 051 Pre-fail Always - 0 3 Spin_Up_Time 0x0007 165 165 021 Pre-fail Always - 2750 4 Start_Stop_Count 0x0032 100 100 040 Old_age Always - 21 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 200 200 140 Pre-fail Always - 0 7 Seek_Error_Rate 0x000a 200 200 051 Old_age Always - 0 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 065 065 000 Old_age Always - 25831 10 Spin_Retry_Count 0x0012 100 253 051 Old_age Always - 0 11 Calibration_Retry_Count 0x0012 100 253 051 Old_age Always - 0 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 21 194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 116 093 000 Old_age Always - 27 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0012 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 198 Offline_Uncorrectable 0x0012 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 199 UDMA_CRC_Error_Count 0x000a 200 253 000 Old_age Always - 0 200 Multi_Zone_Error_Rate 0x0008 200 200 051 Old_age Offline - 0 # smartctl -A /dev/sdb smartctl version 5.38 [x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ === START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION === SMART Attributes Data Structure revision number: 16 Vendor Specific SMART Attributes with Thresholds: ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE UPDATED WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE 1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 200 200 051 Pre-fail Always - 0 3 Spin_Up_Time 0x0003 180 180 021 Pre-fail Always - 3958 4 Start_Stop_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 22 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 200 200 140 Pre-fail Always - 0 7 Seek_Error_Rate 0x000f 200 200 051 Pre-fail Always - 0 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0032 068 068 000 Old_age Always - 24087 10 Spin_Retry_Count 0x0013 100 253 051 Pre-fail Always - 0 11 Calibration_Retry_Count 0x0013 100 253 051 Pre-fail Always - 0 12 Power_Cycle_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 21 194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 122 096 000 Old_age Always - 25 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0012 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 198 Offline_Uncorrectable 0x0010 200 200 000 Old_age Offline - 0 199 UDMA_CRC_Error_Count 0x003e 200 200 000 Old_age Always - 0 200 Multi_Zone_Error_Rate 0x0009 200 200 051 Pre-fail Offline - 0 Any idea what's wrong here?   • Returning "200 OK" in Apache on HTTP OPTIONS requests

    - by i.
I'm attempting to implement cross-domain HTTP access control without touching any code. I've got my Apache(2) server returning the correct Access Control headers with this block: Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*" Header set Access-Control-Allow-Methods "POST, GET, OPTIONS" I now need to prevent Apache from executing my code when the browser sends a HTTP OPTIONS request (it's stored in the REQUEST_METHOD environment variable), returning 200 OK. How can I configure Apache to respond "200 OK" when the request method is OPTIONS? I've tried this mod_rewrite block, but the Access Control headers are lost. RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} OPTIONS RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1 [R=200,L]

  • RAID1 rebuild fails due to disk errors

    - by overlord_tm
Quick info: Dell R410 with 2x500GB drives in RAID1 on H700 Adapter Recently one of drives in RAID1 array on server failed, lets call it Drive 0. RAID controller marked it as fault and put it offline. I replaced faulty disk with new one (same series and manufacturer, just bigger) and configured new disk as hot spare. Rebuild from Drive1 started immediately and after 1.5 hour I got message that Drive 1 failed. Server was unresponsive (kernel panic) and required reboot. Given that half hour before this error rebuild was at about 40%, I estimated that new drive is not in sync yet and tried to reboot just with Drive 1. Disks are about 1 year old, but it is pretty unbelievable to me that both would die within so short timespan.

  • String manipulation of type String substitution in mathematical expression

    - by Peterstone
Imagine something like exp(49/200)+(x-49/200) I want to pass as argument of the function "roundn" whatever operation that is not a addtion or a subtraction So my expresion became roundn(exp(roundn(49/200,n)),n)+(x - roundn(49/200,n) Well the expression I want to manipulate is this: exp(49/200)+exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)+1/2*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^2+1/6*exp(49/200)*(x- 49/200)^3+1/24*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^4+1/120*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^5+1/720*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^6+1/5040*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^7+1/40320*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^8+1/362880*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^9+1/3628800*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^10+1/39916800*exp(49/200)*(x-49/200)^11 I´m looking for a method (That include whatever program) not based in lenguage programming, as much batch or somithing like that... Thank you!

  • Returning "200 OK" in Apache on HTTP OPTIONS requests

    - by i..

  • Apache web logs "GET http/1.1" 200 error?

    - by songdogtech
I've got some puzzling (at least to me) errors that show up in my webserver logs. What's puzzling is that they show my error page being referenced, but that error page doesn't show up as being displayed in hits on statcounter.com. Can someone tell me the difference in these two kinds of errors? Or is only one a "real" error? This is in WordPress, and I have my 404.php file in my theme redirecting to a static Wordpress page at mydomain.com/error/ These first two log entries show /error/, but a "hit" on my /error/ page doesn't show in my webstats. The page referenced - /2009/08/delete-preference-files/ - exists, and shows a "hit" at statcounter. 92.17.232.242 - - [13/Mar/2010:01:45:43 -0800] "GET /error/ HTTP/1.1" 200 4012 "http://markratledge.com/2009/08/delete-preference-files/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows;U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100202 Firefox/3.5.8 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" 732 4432 92.17.232.242 - - [13/Mar/2010:01:47:11 -0800] "GET /error/ HTTP/1.1" 200 4012 "http://markratledge.com/wp-content/themes/default/style.css" "Mozilla/5.0(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100202 Firefox/3.5.8 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" 861 4432 These are two error entries that display my /error/ page, because /error/ gets a "hit" in statcounter. • VLC volume only to 200%?

    - by Tomas
According to this comment it seems that VLC could boost the audio volume up to 800% in the past versions. Today I installed VLC multimedia player version 2.0.5 and it is capable only to boost up to 200%! This is not much, considering that some youtube videos are very quiet. This is what I need VLC for - to boost up volume for quiet youtube videos. So, where's the problem? Was it actually 800% in the past? Did VLC really limit this from former 800% to current 200%? Is it possible to somehow achieve more boost with VLC? Or with other software? I am using Windows 7.

  • nginx status code 200 and 304

    - by Chamnap
I'm using nginx + passenger. I'm trying to understand the nginx response 200 and 304. What does this both means? Sometimes, it responses back in 304 and others only 200. Reading the YUI blog, it seems browser needs the header "Last-Modified" to verify with the server. I'm wondering why the browser need to verify the last modified date. Here is my nginx configuration: location / { root /var/www/placexpert/public; # <--- be sure to point to 'public'! passenger_enabled on; rack_env development; passenger_use_global_queue on; if ($request_filename ~* ^.+\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|css|js|swf)$) { expires max; break; } } How would I add the header "Last-Modified" to the static files? Which value should I set?
