    I´m looking someway (plugin, code, template, etc) to make a categories page on wordpress, where only sub-categories be shown per page. To be more specific, please visit https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac There are 3 Categories there : Mac Laptop, Desktop, Hardware. Inside Mac Laptop are other subcategories. There will be posts assigned to those categories. Is there a plugin for wordpress that can do that? Thanks

    I have created some functional categories that I use to show/hide markup elements. However, when I go to list the legit categories, these show up too, which I would expect. I want to list the legitimate categories and omit others. I need to know how you would do it under two circumstances.... 1) Each category that I want to exclude is preceded by an underscore character in its name. 2) Each category that I want to exclude is NOT preceeded by a special character and I will just provide an ID to the script that handles the exclusion listing.

    Hi I have been looking to implement a menu system like the following I have 1 category, Cars, with 2 sub-categories, New and Used I’d like to display, on the drop down, the main category and then New, with all the products inside as a list and then Used, with all the products in a list. I have tried using the code in the link provided, but it seemed to include a rollover option, that expanded the menu and the products are not listed below the category. Thanks

    I have categories in my static library. Any application developer should set -ObjC flag to "Other Linker Flags" to use my static library properly. It works fine for iPhone device/iPhone Simulator 2.x and iPhone Simulator 3.0. But it crashes for iPhone device 3.0. As written in this article it is new linker bug. They suggest to use one more linker flag: -all_load. But when I add this flag, build fails too, because there are duplicate symbols. How to use categories in static libraries for iPhone device 3.0? Any suggestions?

    Some advice needed on how I can structure my models for my site. I have seen this post from Django project but still a little lost. Also come across Django-MPTT - but that's no help and possibly overkill. I'm looking to have categories & subcategories that are shown in the URLs like this: mysite.com/Level1/Maths/Calculations/Addition/ mysite.com/Level3/English/ mysite.com/Level2/English/Storytelling/ In my admin interface I'm looking to have drop downs for each level of category or subcategory. Also at each level I will be querying items (another model) like get all items that have the category 'Level1' AND 'Maths'. There could also be a situation where I have five or more subcategories. How is it best to create my models for best performance? It it worth using tagging instead?

New to magento so i`m not sure in wich file in the template i have to look for. Its a custom template installed so i got so far to: app/design/frontend/default/f001/template/ but not sure now if to look under catalog or paeg folders

  • Eclipse Outline View - Visible JavaScript Categories in Eclipse?

    I just found an option in the little white down arrow in Eclipse that reads "Visible Categories..." How can I use this? It seems to me that it could be used to only show functions that have an @category in their comments, but I haven't been able to make that work. If it did work it would be incredibly useful for separating out Unit Tests from their common-functions and separating them from the setUp and tearDown methods, so what is it really for? By the way I'm editing a Javascript file in the Eclipse "Javascript Editor", I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

  • rails search nested set (categories and sub categories)

    Hello, I am using the http://github.com/collectiveidea/awesome_nested_set awesome nested set plugin and currently, if I choose a sub category as my category_id for an item, I can not search by its parent. Category.parent Category.Child I choose Category.child as the category that my item is in. So now my item has category_id of 4 stored in it. If I go to a page in my rails application, lets say teh Category page and I am on the Category.parent's page, I want to show products that have category_id's of all the descendants as well. So ideally i want to have a find method that can take into account the descendants. You can get the descendants of a root by calling root.descendants (a built in plugin method). How would I go about making it so I can query a find that gets the descendants of a root instead of what its doing now which is binging up nothing unless the product had a specific category_id of the Category.parent. I hope I am being clear here. I either need to figure out a way to create a find method or named_scope that can query and return an array of objects that have id's corresponding tot he descendants of a root OR if I have any other options, what are they? I thought about creating a field in my products table like parent_id which can keep track of the parent so i can then create two named scopes one finding the parent stuff and one finding the child stuff and chaining them. I know I can create a named scope for each child and chain them together for multiple children but this seems a very tedious process and also, if you add more children, you would need to specify more named scopes.

For example: If I have duplicates because of parameters (eg: &sort=desc) it's clear to use the canonical for the site, provided the within the head-tag. However I'm wondering how to handle "small - no to say thin content - sites". What's my definition of a small site? An Example: On one of my main sites, we use a directory based url-structure. Let's see: example.com/ (root) example.com/category-abc/ example.com/category-abc/produkt-xy/ Moreover we provide on page, that includes all products example.com/all-categories/ (lists all products the same way as in the categories) In case of reviews, we use a similar structure: example.com/reviews/product-xy/ shows all review for one certain product example.com/reviews/product-xy/abc-your-product-is-great/ shows one certain review example.com/reviews/ shows all reviews for all products (latest first) Let's make it even more complicated: On every product site, there are the latest 2 reviews at the end of the page. So you see, a lot of potential duplicates. Q1: Should I create canonicals for a: example.com/category-abc/ to example.com/all-categories/ b: example.com/reviews/product-xy/abc-your-product-is-great/ to example.com/reviews/product-xy/ or to example.com/review/ or none of them? Q2: Can I link the collection of categories (all-categories/) and collection of all reviews (reviews/ and reviews/product-xy/) to the single category respectively to the single review. Example: example.com/reviews/ includes - let's say - 100 reviews. Can I somehow use a markup that tells search engines: "Hey, wait, you are now looking at a collection of 100 reviews - do not index this collection, you should rather prefer indexing every single review as a single page!". In HTML it might be something like that (which - of course - does not work, it's only to show you what I mean): <div class="review" rel="canonical" href="http://example.com/reviews/product-xz/abc-your-product-is-great/">HERE GOES THE REVIEW</div> Reason: I don't think it is a great user experience if the user searches for "your product is great" and lands on example.com/reviews/ instead of example.com/reviews/product-xy/abc-your-product-is-great/. On the first site, he will have to search and might stop because of frustration. The second result, however, might lead to a conversion. The same applies for categories. If the user is searching for category-Z, he might land on the all-categories page and he has to scroll down to the (last) category, to find what he searched for (Z). So what's best practice?     Hi, I have a SingletonClass, which has only one instance. I want to expand it and add to it a category (MoreFeatures). I created a source SingletonClass+MoreFeatures, which interface/implementation looks like that: @interface SingletonClass (MoreFeatures) - (void) feature; @end @implementation SingletonClass (MoreFeatures) - (void) feature() { } @end When I created my SingletonClass i followed the Apple's example of Singleton implementation in cocoa. This singleton resides in a project B, which is a dependency of a bigger project A. I can call for [[SingletonClass sharedInstance] foo] from a source in project A and it works in case that function foo is located in SingletonClass interface/implementation. When I try to call [[SingletonClass sharedInstance] feature] from a source in project A, I get a crash, which says that there is no method feature for class SingletonClass... Why it happens?   • New Feature! Automatic Categories for Geekswithblogs.net

    One of the features we have been working on is a way to categorize posts without the need of all our bloggers getting on the same page with what categories we have and making them select the categories.  Johnny Kauffman, one of our team members at AJI Software, developed what we call the Sherlock Project over the past few months.  Sherlock is a category suggestion engine based on the content within the posts.  Now, after a post is published, Sherlock will investigate the content and come up with the suggested categories that content fits in.  This will now allow you to go to the specific topics you are interested in and see all the related posts. This is just the beginning, so many more opportunities will arise now that we have our content organized.  One of the first features I will be adding is RSS feeds for each category and sub category.  If you are into ALM, we will have a feed for that!   • Breadcrumb for multiple categories

    I post in multiple categories, so is it better to have: Consulting Services Implementation Service A Consulting Services Optimization Service A Consulting Services Upgrade Service A or, Consulting Services Implementation, Optimization, Upgrade Service A I was doing second way, the problem is google doesn't show 3rd set of crumbs. ie it only displays: Consulting Services on search result. But having multiple breadcrumbs on the page doesn't look good. any suugestions? Update For @PatomaS 's question I mean 3 lines of breadcrumbs, see above i have posted same article (Service A) in 3 categories (Implementation, Optimization, Upgrade). So you can reach same article through 3 categories. So whats the best breadcrumb to display on article 'Service A'?

    I'm trying to add product_type to my Magento Google Base output based on the product's categories, but I seem to be unable to. I have the following code: // Get categories from product to include as product_type $categoryIds = $object->getCategoryIds(); foreach($categoryIds as $categoryId) { $category = Mage::getModel('catalog/category')->load($categoryId); $this->_setAttribute('product_type', $category->getName(), 'text' ); } The issue is that it returns all of the categories, not just the ones the product is in. Anyone have a solution?

The other user has assigned many different categories, but I do not get those categories added to the list of categories I can choose from when adding/editing contacts, I can see certain contacts have those categories.   • Mirror using apt-mirror and exclud certain sections/categories

    I'm currently using apt-mirror to create a local mirror of the debian repositories. As the mirrored repositories will be used only by machines destined to be headless servers and as an effort to reduce the current mirroring size (around 75GB), categories like games and possibly others will never be needed. How can I go about specifying (on the mirror.list perhaps?) what sections/categories I want to be excluded from the mirroring? Maybe a bit subjective, but apart from games what other sections/categories could be "safely" ignored from the mirroring for my environment purposes?   • How to make categories and current page highlighting in PHP?

    I am trying to find some example code or best practices about making CMS-type categories with PHP. This is a problem that has for sure been solved gazillion times but for some reason I am unable to find any example code using PHP about how to implement this. As far as I can tell, there are two parts to the problem. The first one has to with the styling side of things: outputting the link in the navigation so that the current page has a special style (class="active") and to not print out the link for the current page. The second part is handling categories, subcategories and the dynamic pages under the categories. The second part seems pretty straightforward. I am thinking of making it so that the name of the category in the navigation is a link to categories.php?id=x and on this page I just print out the pages with that category id. Then, if the user klicks on a page he will be taken to pages.php?id=y. However, I am not quite sure on how to make a navigation to check if we are now on the current page. Should I just use some case switch or what? Any ideas or links to some good example code are much appreciated.
