  • Configure Domino to use SMTP routing and hMailServer

    I have been trying for a couple of days to set up a Domino 8.5 server. Basically, I want everything to be run inside a local network. Right now I can send email to other user in the Domino directory without any mail address. I am pretty new to all this stuff, so maybe the answer will be really obvious. What I need to do is be able to send a mail from somewhere else to a domino user that will be redirected to his account. On the Domino server, I also have hMailServer installed on port 25. I configured Domino to use port 26. I followed those step to get where I am now. -I have set the Fully qualified Internet host name to "preview.notes". -Smtp Listener task changed to Enabled to turn on the Listener so that the server can receive messages routed via SMTP routing -Setting up SMTP routing within the local Internet domain (http://www.h2l.com/help/help85%5Fadmin.nsf/f4b82fbb75e942a6852566ac0037f284/7f9738a49efc4f58852574d500097b01?OpenDocument) -I modified the person to use the [email protected] address. -I'm using the hMailServer (which have the local "preview.local" domain name) to send mail to [email protected]. When sending mail I got an error telling that the DNS is not set up correctly. Is using the Domino Smtp server instead of hMailServer will solve the problem? I can Telnet the Domino Smtp Server.

    I'm trying to configure hMailserver with a 3rd party SSL cert. I'v 1) Installed the SSL key & cert 2) Placed the hash named CA and intermediate in to the \externals\cs folder Now, the connection between the mail client and the server is secure and works. The issue is that mail clients outlook, apple mail, others issue an untrusted cert warning. I've followed several threads on the forums, but none seem to solve this problem

    Salvete! I have two servers, one hosts my email server (hMailServer on windows server 2003) and the other hosts active directory (on windows server 2008). I don't have Microsoft Exchange. In Active directory, there are user groups that have email addresses. How can I send an email to a user group? Somewhere I need to be able to connect my mail server to active directory. Maybe AD has a mail pickup folder? I can't find the information that I need. Here is a similar link, but it didn't help me. Send As Distribution Group Email Address? (I think a tag for hMailServer would be a good idea.) Thanks for y'all's help.

    I recently had a spamming incident and got listed on a blacklist. I have rectified the issue, removed from the blacklist, but my IP reputation is now classified as a high volume sender. What is the best way to rectify this? I have an additional IP address. I am thinking configure my server to make outbound SMTP connections using the other IP. My questions are: How long does it take for my reputation to stabilize again? How do I configure my server/mailserver to use a specified outbound IP?   • hMail server - sending copy of an e-mail changing the sender

    Dear All please help me with following request. I am using hMail server in a company(test.com) and have several hundred of guest e-mail accounts ([email protected]). I need to accomplish this: When any of the guest e-mails receives a message(either from internal or external sender) this e-mail(or its copy) is sent to another address "[email protected]" which is the same for all of these guest e-mails. But I need the sender to be identified as the [email protected] not as the original sender which happens when I use forwarding. I tried to prepare a simple VBS script using the OnAcceptMessage event to accomplish this. and it works on my testing machine without internet connectivity but not in the production environment. To be specific, if I send an e-mail to [email protected] in my test env it is delivered to the [email protected] with [email protected] being a sender. But in the production env the e-mail stays in the guest mailbox with the original sender. I am interested in any solution, using a rule in hMail or script, anything is welcome.   • Sending bulkmail from different server?

    I want to send bulk domains from my vps for a domain(cagetur.com) hosted in another company. The company(cagetur) will go on using the old hosting account for its mailing operations. The vps will just be used for smtp for once a week. I created an A record "vps.cagetur.com". directed it to the IP adress of vps then created a mx record with bigger preference number "50 vps.cagetur.com." on the domain control panel. When I trace the "vps.cagetur.com" i can reach my vps now. I installed hMail on the vps. Configure it (created domain, accounts). I have no information about "system" so i couldn't get further from this point. I can connect to the mail server with Outlook without errors. I can send an email from the account on the vps but it doesn't reaches. No errors, no emails. What do i have to do for getting it work? Thank you.

I can't seem to find the settings to set this up and am not even sure if they exist. I have connected hmailserver to an account already so it has downloaded the emails to my local hard drive, but I need to put them in some readable format. That's what I was hoping I could do with Thunderbird.

    Hi, I've a Virtual Private Server with Windows 2003 and root access. This server mainly acts as a web hosting machine (IIS, Apache). Additionally it is used as a mail server. Is it possible to isolate a mailserver (for example HMailServer) by using VMware Server on Windows 2003 in order to avoid potential viruses moving from the guest into the host system?     I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative? I heard good things about hmailserver and best of all it's free, do you have any experience with using the bulit-in SMTP on a high traffic website. Thanks a lot for any suggestions

  • Roundcube access from outside local network

    I have setup hmailserver on a windows xp pro computer and everything is working great when it comes to getting it to send and receive email. Now here is where my problem comes in... I have setup roundcube using uniserver and everything works great internally. Now, what I am trying to do is to be able to access roundcube from the internet outside of the local network. I have opened up ports 80, 443, and the mysql port yet I am still unable to access this from outside of the network. The error message that I am getting is as followed: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /webmail/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I believe something needs to be edited in the apache config file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping I dont need to run this on windows server but I'm kinda losing hope and thinking I will need to because I need IIS.

  • IIS SmtpSVC - Adding remote domains on the fly

    Since I am using SMTPSVC from IIS to send all mail out I have noticed some domains that reject mail regarding LFs and similar SMTP day to day basis problems. So I mostly re route these domains by using smarthosts. Now I aslo read that on IIS7 or most of them when you add a remote domain to domains you must restart SMTPSVC to take effect. I also enabled METABASE editing. So I also hoped that this will help me add remote domains on the fly. But it's not working. Should I use another SMTP: -hmailserver or similar to route DOMAINS by smarthost. We used a smarthost configuration before but ISP smarthost gets a lot on RBL Blacklist so mail comes back. Since DNS MX direct sending is more work because of troublesome domains now I got more work to monitor SMTP logs. Thank you in advance.

    Considering a machine with IIS 7.5/PHP 5.2/asp.net and mysql/MSSQL available, which webmail would you pick? Don't think it's relevant but the mail server is installed on localhost, and is hmailserver. If it's one using asp.net it'd be a bonus, but PHP is ok as well and probably offers more choices. "Client side" look and feel definitely needed, flash/silverlight/ajax not a problem. I have also seen this question, but being asked almost 2years ago and being focused on php webmails, I thought that some better option could've been released in the meantime.

    I'm going to get a Windows 2008 dedicated server sometime soon. I'm going to have my website hosted on it, so, I also want to run a mail server on the same machine to receive any mail sent to the website (I use the SMTP Server in IIS for sending mail, but this about receiving not sending) Does Windows 2008 have a built-in POP3 OR IMAP server? If so, can it be accessed through a webmail interface? I mean does it also have a webmail interface similar to OWA for example? If not, do you have suggestions for a good mail server with a webmail interface, preferably free or open source? MS Exchange is above my budget and my needs are so simple anyway. I heard good things about hMailServer but I checked and it doesn't have a webmail interface. I know I can outsource this to a third party for a little monthly fee, but I prefer to host my own server.     Hi, we have an SBS2003 server. Recently I decided to switch to hmailserver as i feel it's better than exchange 2003, so i disabled it. Of course i don't receive the Monitoring and Reporting emails from my server anymore, there is a way to change the setting? I think it directly interacts with Exchange, but maybe there is an smtp option out there Otherwise there is an alternative? I tried the paessler monitor on a vm, but i feel it's too much for my use: i just need to get a daily report of the security violations in the event log and something else

I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk.     currently we have one Domain Controller that have 15 users and cup off services(hMailServer, IIS, DNS, Active Directory). Now the owners of the firm created two new firms which computers and networks are my responsibility. Now i wonder how exactly to join users in existing domain. Did you think that is a good idea to just include all computers and user from all firms under one domain or there is another solution ? Did some of you run into this kind of situation and what did you do ? ---Edit--- Brent, Dan thank for info guys. For now i will follow Brent advice until we get the new server witch we will virtualize and the old server will be our second DC on different location. Heck we even might think some Pay-as-you-go VPS solution for DC redundancy.

    I am using Symfony + SwiftMailer and getting the following error from SwiftMailer: 500 | Internal Server Error | Swift_TransportException Expected response code 220 but got code "", with message "" and can't figure out why. I have found that sometimes, and very randomly, the send goes through, but every other time, I get the above error message. So constantly refreshing the page that sends the mail, fails unpredictably, and as the code sometimes works, it's kinda hard to figure out what's wrong. Any help will be highly appreciated!

I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk.
