  • Using Dependency Walker

    - by Valter Minute
    Dependency Walker is a very useful tool that can be used to find dependencies of a Portable Executable module. The PE format is used also on Windows CE and this means that Dependency Walker can be used to analyze also Windows CE/Windows Embedded Compact module. On Win32 it can be used also to monitor modules loaded by an application during runtime, this feature is not supported on CE. You can download dependency walker for free here: http://dependencywalker.com/. To analyze the dependencies of a Windows CE/Windows Embedded Compact 7 module you can just open it using Dependency Walker. If you want to check if a specific module can run on a Windows CE/Windows Compact 7 OS Image you can copy the executable in the same directory that contains your OS binaries (FLATRELEASEDIR). In this way Dependency Walker will highlight missing dlls or missing entry points inside existing dlls. Let’s do a quick sample. You need to check if myapp.exe (an application from a third party) can run on an image generated with your Test01 OSDesign. Copy Myapp.exe to the flat release directory of your OS Design. Launch depends.exe and use the File\Open option of its main menu to open the application executable file you just copied. You may receive an error if some of the modules required by your applications are missing. Before you analyze the module dependencies is important to configure Dependency Walker to check DLL in the same folder where your application file is stored. This is needed because some Windows CE DLLs have the same name of Win32 system DLLs but different entry points. To configure the DLL search path select “Options\Configure Module Search Order…” from Depenency Walker main menu. Select “The application directory” from the “Current Search Order” list, select it, and move it to the top of the list using the “Move Up” button. The system will ask to refresh the window contents to reflect your configuration change, click on “Yes” to proceed. Now you can inspect myapp.exe dependencies. Some DLLs are missing (XAMLRUNTIME.DLL and TILEENGINE.DLL) and OLE32.DLL exists but does not export the “CoInitialize” entry point that is required by myapp.exe. The bad news is that MyApp.exe will not run on your OS Image, the good news is that now you know what’s missing and you can add the required modules to your OS Design and fix the problem!

  • Dependency Walker Not Showing All the Depended Dll

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
    I have a fortran dll, and I want to know the assemblies that it depends on for redistribution purpose. One thing I found out is that the dependency walker doesn't show all of the dependencies, i.e, there are some dlls that my assembly is dependent on, but dependency walker doesn't show it out. An example would be a dll that makes use of intel mkl LAPACK dlls, but the dependency walker doesn't show that dependency. Why this is so? And any idea how to fix this problem, or is there other more reliable tool that I can use?

  • What are the most interesting equivalences arising from the Curry-Howard Isomorphism?

    - by Tom
    I came upon the Curry-Howard Isomorphism relatively late in my programming life, and perhaps this contributes to my being utterly fascinated by it. It implies that for every programming concept there exists a precise analogue in formal logic, and vice versa. Here's an "obvious" list of such analogies, off the top of my head: program/definition | proof type/declaration | proposition inhabited type | theorem function | implication function argument | hypothesis/antecedent function result | conclusion/consequent function application | modus ponens recursion | induction identity function | tautology non-terminating function | absurdity tuple | conjunction (and) disjoint union | exclusive disjunction (xor) parametric polymorphism | universal quantification So, to my question: what are some of the more interesting/obscure implications of this isomorphism? I'm no logician so I'm sure I've only scratched the surface with this list. For example, here are some programming notions for which I'm unaware of pithy names in logic: currying | "((a & b) => c) iff (a => (b => c))" scope | "known theory + hypotheses" And here are some logical concepts which I haven't quite pinned down in programming terms: primitive type? | axiom set of valid programs? | theory ? | disjunction (or)

    - by User
    On a Windows XP Professional SP3 with Internet Explorer 8 box, when I run Dependency Walker on an executable of mine it reports that: IESHIMS.DLL and WER.DLL can't be found. Do I need these DLL's? Where can I get them? I believe they are supposed to located in C:\Windows\System32\Wer.dll and C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Ieshims.dll

  • How to use walker to replace core function

    - by bellesebastien
    I want to modify the way pages are listed in the navigation, particularly the function el_start from wp-includes/classes.php. I've first modified the classes.php directly and it worked fine butnow I want to revert classes.php and move the modification out of wordpress' internal files. I wrote a walker class that I want to use but I don't know how to use it. I want to replace the current call wp_list_pages() to this: $walker_pages = new Walker_Page_CustomTitle; wp_list_pages(array('walker' => $walker_pages, 'title_li' => '', 'depth' => '1')); I've tried using a filter like so: function wp_list_pages_custom() { $walker_pages = new Walker_Page_CustomTitle; wp_list_pages(array('walker' => $walker_pages, 'title_li' => '', 'depth' => '1')); } add_filter('widget_area_primary_aside', 'wp_list_pages_custom'); But with this filter, the site won't load anymore. The tutorial here says I should put this code in header.php but that just puts my page links in the tag. I hope I'm making sense. Thanks.

  • Weighted random selection using Walker's Alias Method (c# implementation)

    - by Chuck Norris
    I was looking for this algorithm (algorithm which will randomly select from a list of elements where each element has different probability of being picked (weight) ) and found only python and c implementations, after I did a C# one, a bit different (but I think simpler) I thought I should share it, and ask your opinion ? this is it: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; namespace ChuckNorris { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { var oo = new Dictionary<string, int> { {"A",7}, {"B",1}, {"C",9}, {"D",8}, {"E",11}, }; var rnd = new Random(); var pick = rnd.Next(oo.Values.Sum()); var sum = 0; var res = ""; foreach (var o in oo) { sum += o.Value; if(sum >= pick) { res = o.Key; break; } } Console.WriteLine("result is "+ res); } } } if anyone can remake it in f# please post your code

  • gunit syntax for tree walker with a flat list of nodes

    - by Kaleb Pederson
    Here's a simple gunit test for a portion of my tree grammar which generates a flat list of nodes: objectOption walks objectOption: <<one:"value">> -> (one "value") Although you define a tree in ANTLR's rewrite syntax using a caret (i.e. ^(ROOT child...)), gunit matches trees without the caret, so the above represents a tree and it's not surprising that it fails: it's a flat list of nodes and not a tree. This results in a test failure: 1 failures found: test2 (objectOption walks objectOption, line17) - expected: (one \"value\") actual: one \"value\" Another option which seems intuitive is to leave off the parenthesis, like this: objectOption walks objectOption: <<one:"value">> -> one "value" But gunit doesn't like this syntax. It seems to result in a parse failure in the gunit grammar: line 17:20 no viable alternative at input 'one' line 17:24 missing ':' at 'value' line 0:-1 no viable alternative at input '<EOF>' java.lang.NullPointerException at org.antlr.gunit.OutputTest.getExpected(OutputTest.java:65) at org.antlr.gunit.gUnitExecutor.executeTests(gUnitExecutor.java:245) ... What is the correct way to match a flat tree?

  • Mutation Problem - Clojure

    having trouble changing an element of my function represented as a list. code for random function: (defn makerandomtree-10 [pc maxdepth maxwidth fpx ppx] (if-let [output (if (and (< (rand) fpx) (> maxdepth 0)) (let [head (nth operations (rand-int (count operations))) children (doall (loop[function (list) width maxwidth] (if (pos? width) (recur (concat function (list (makerandomtree-10 pc (dec maxdepth) (+ 2 (rand-int (- maxwidth 1))) fpx ppx))) (dec width)) function)))] (concat (list head) children)) (if (and (< (rand) ppx) (>= pc 0)) (nth parameters (rand-int (count parameters))) (rand-int 100)))] output )) I will provide also a mutation function, which is still not good enough. I need to be able to eval my statement, so the following is still insufficient. (defn mutate-5 "chooses a node changes that" [function pc maxwidth pchange] (if (< (rand) pchange) (let [output (makerandomtree-10 pc 3 maxwidth 0.5 0.6)] (if (seq? output) output (list output))) ;mutate the children of root ;declare an empty accumulator list, with root as its head (let [head (list (first function)) children (loop [acc(list) walker (next function)] (println "----------") (println walker) (println "-----ACC-----") (println acc) (if (not walker) acc (if (or (seq? (first function)) (contains? (set operations) (first function))) (recur (concat acc (mutate-5 walker pc maxwidth pchange)) (next walker)) (if (< (rand) pchange) (if (some (set parameters) walker) (recur (concat acc (list (nth parameters (rand-int (count parameters))))) (if (seq? walker) (next walker) nil)) (recur (concat acc (list (rand-int 100))) (if (seq? walker) (next walker) nil))) (recur acc (if (seq? walker) (next walker) nil)))) ))] (concat head (list children))))) (side note: do you have any links/books for learning clojure?)

  • They may block off Howard Street—but Oracle OpenWorld is a two-way street.

    - by Oracle Accelerate for Midsize Companies
    Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 by Jim Lein, Sr. Director, Oracle Accelerate for Midsize Companies “Engineered to Inform and Inspire”—that’s the theme of Oracle OpenWorld 2012. In early October, tens of thousands of attendees will descend on the streets of San Francisco because they share one thing in common: the desire to learn more about Oracle. You might think that’s the way we, Oracle employees, look at this event—as just another opportunity for attendees to learn about what we do. But it’s really a two way street. Every year I’m amazed by how informed and inspired I am by our customers and their companies. Midsize companies buy Oracle to grow. As part of the Oracle Accelerate for Midsize Companies team I get to talk with our partners and business leaders at growing companies almost every day, usually via phone. Oracle OpenWorld presents the perfect opportunity to meet some of them in person, in an informal setting, and in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The stories our customers tell me about their businesses provide vivid examples of how they have overcome the challenges of managing increasingly complex global operations and growing during uncertain economic conditions. It’s no secret that my favorite session at Oracle OpenWorld (besides Larry Ellison’s keynotes and the Customer Appreciation Event, of course) is the Oracle Accelerate Customer Panel. This year we’re featuring executives from three companies who deployed Oracle ERP rapidly to support their company’s growth: Chris Powell, VP and Corporate Controller of Beats by Dr. Dre, a California based designer and manufacturer of premium headphones (sorry, no free samples), Iñaki Zuazo, CIO of Industrias Juno, a building materials provider based in Spain, Kamran Moosa, Project Coordinator for Spartan Engineering, a provider of engineering and construction support services for an LPG storage project in Texas, and That’s a pretty diverse lineup and it will be interesting to hear the perspectives of both IT and financial project stakeholders. The session, “Oracle Accelerate Customer Case Studies: Rapid Deployment of Oracle Applications”, is at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, October 3, in the Concert room at the Palace Hotel. Oracle loves our hometown of San Francisco and it’s a great place to host Oracle OpenWorld. It’s now San Francisco’s largest conference and the city closes off Howard Street to better accommodate the attendees. Some Bay Area commuters may be inconvenienced for a few days by this closure but the conference brings about $100 million into the local economy. Now that’s a two-way street. • Remove All Nodes with (nodeName = "script") from a Document Fragment *before placing it in dom*

    - by Matrym
    My goal is to remove all <[script] nodes from a document fragment (leaving the rest of the fragment intact) before inserting the fragment into the dom. My fragment is created by and looks something like this: range = document.createRange(); range.selectNode(document.getElementsByTagName("body").item(0)); documentFragment = range.cloneContents(); sasDom.insertBefore(documentFragment, credit); document.body.appendChild(documentFragment); I got good range walker suggestions in a separate post, but realized I asked the wrong question. I got an answer about ranges, but what I meant to ask about was a document fragment (or perhaps there's a way to set a range of the fragment? hrmmm). The walker provided was: function actOnElementsInRange(range, func) { function isContainedInRange(el, range) { var elRange = range.cloneRange(); elRange.selectNode(el); return range.compareBoundaryPoints(Range.START_TO_START, elRange) <= 0 && range.compareBoundaryPoints(Range.END_TO_END, elRange) >= 0; } var rangeStartElement = range.startContainer; if (rangeStartElement.nodeType == 3) { rangeStartElement = rangeStartElement.parentNode; } var rangeEndElement = range.endContainer; if (rangeEndElement.nodeType == 3) { rangeEndElement = rangeEndElement.parentNode; } var isInRange = function(el) { return (el === rangeStartElement || el === rangeEndElement || isContainedInRange(el, range)) ? NodeFilter.FILTER_ACCEPT : NodeFilter.FILTER_SKIP; }; var container = range.commonAncestorContainer; if (container.nodeType != 1) { container = container.parentNode; } var walker = document.createTreeWalker(document, NodeFilter.SHOW_ELEMENT, isInRange, false); while (walker.nextNode()) { func(walker.currentNode); } } actOnElementsInRange(range, function(el) { el.removeAttribute("id"); }); That walker code is lifted from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2690122/remove-all-id-attributes-from-nodes-in-a-range-of-fragment PLEASE No libraries (ie jQuery). I want to do this the raw way. Thanks in advance for your help

  • I am getting error when using Attributes in Rcpp and have RcppArmadillo code

    - by howard123
    I am trying to create a package with RcppArmadillo. The code uses the new attributes methodology of Rcpp. The sourceCpp works fine and compiles the code, but when I build a package I get errors when I use RcppArmadillo code. Without the RcppArmadillo code and using regulare C++, I do not get these errors. The C++ code (it is essentially the fastLm sample code) is: // [[Rcpp::depends(RcppArmadillo)]] #include <Rcpp.h> #include <RcppArmadillo.h> using namespace Rcpp; // [[Rcpp::depends(RcppArmadillo)]] #include <RcppArmadillo.h> // [[Rcpp::export]] List fastLm(NumericVector yr, NumericMatrix Xr) { int n = Xr.nrow(), k = Xr.ncol(); arma::mat X(Xr.begin(), n, k, false); arma::colvec y(yr.begin(), yr.size(), false); arma::colvec coef = arma::solve(X, y); arma::colvec resid = y - X*coef; double sig2 = arma::as_scalar(arma::trans(resid)*resid/(n-k)); arma::colvec stderrest = arma::sqrt( sig2 * arma::diagvec( arma::inv(arma::trans(X)*X)) ); return List::create(Named("coefficients") = coef, Named("stderr") = stderrest); } Here is the compilation error, after I execute "R   • improve my code for collapsing a list of data.frames

    - by romunov
    Dear StackOverFlowers (flowers in short), I have a list of data.frames (walk.sample) that I would like to collapse into a single (giant) data.frame. While collapsing, I would like to mark (adding another column) which rows have came from which element of the list. This is what I've got so far. This is the data.frame that needs to be collapsed/stacked. > walk.sample [[1]] walker x y 1073 3 228.8756 -726.9198 1086 3 226.7393 -722.5561 1081 3 219.8005 -728.3990 1089 3 225.2239 -727.7422 1032 3 233.1753 -731.5526 [[2]] walker x y 1008 3 205.9104 -775.7488 1022 3 208.3638 -723.8616 1072 3 233.8807 -718.0974 1064 3 217.0028 -689.7917 1026 3 234.1824 -723.7423 [[3]] [1] 3 [[4]] walker x y 546 2 629.9041 831.0852 524 2 627.8698 873.3774 578 2 572.3312 838.7587 513 2 633.0598 871.7559 538 2 636.3088 836.6325 1079 3 206.3683 -729.6257 1095 3 239.9884 -748.2637 1005 3 197.2960 -780.4704 1045 3 245.1900 -694.3566 1026 3 234.1824 -723.7423 I have written a function to add a column that denote from which element the rows came followed by appending it to an existing data.frame. collapseToDataFrame <- function(x) { # collapse list to a dataframe with a twist walk.df <- data.frame() for (i in 1:length(x)) { n.rows <- nrow(x[[i]]) if (length(x[[i]])>1) { temp.df <- cbind(x[[i]], rep(i, n.rows)) names(temp.df) <- c("walker", "x", "y", "session") walk.df <- rbind(walk.df, temp.df) } else { cat("Empty list", "\n") } } return(walk.df) } > collapseToDataFrame(walk.sample) Empty list Empty list walker x y session 3 1 -604.5055 -123.18759 1 60 1 -562.0078 -61.24912 1 84 1 -594.4661 -57.20730 1 9 1 -604.2893 -110.09168 1 43 1 -632.2491 -54.52548 1 1028 3 240.3905 -724.67284 1 1040 3 232.5545 -681.61225 1 1073 3 228.8756 -726.91980 1 1091 3 209.0373 -740.96173 1 1036 3 248.7123 -694.47380 1 I'm curious whether this can be done more elegantly, with perhaps do.call() or some other more generic function?

  • How can I set Thunderbird's "Recipient" column to display my email address rather than a friendly na

    - by Howiecamp
    After configuring a single, unified Inbox within Outlook 2007 to unify multiple email accounts, I found Thunderbird 3's Smart Folder feature. It works great, providing individual inboxes for each of your email accounts and a unified inbox which provides a unified, virtual view of those other inboxes. Thunderbird is smart enough so what when I reply to an email addressed to a specific email account, the reply is "From" that email address. In order to know which inbound email was to which of my accounts, I added the "Recipient" column to the inbox Smart Folder: What's displayed in the Recipient column depends on how the sender/sender's email client addresses the email. If they send it to just "[email protected]" without specifying a friendly name, the Recipient column displays "[email protected]" and there's no ambiguity about which account the email was sent to. However, if the sender has me in their address book (likely stored with a friendly name), it will be addressed as "Howard Camp [[email protected]]" and then show in the Recipient column as "Howard Camp". The problem is that if someone emails me with a friendly name at another of my email accounts (e.g. "Howard Camp [[email protected]]", the Recipient column will also display "Howard Camp" and I can't tell which account it's to until I open the message and/or look at the details. How can I configure Thunderbird to always display my email address rather than the sender-specified friendly name in the Recipient column?

  • Running hardware with only 32bit drivers in 64bit windows

    - by Howard
    Recently we had to upgrade a system to handle added HD IP cameras. This upgrade involved an entirely new computer build with the exception of a rather pricey Geovision DVR (PCI/GV1480 series). Apparently while these cards do support Windows 7, they do not support Windows 7 x64. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here trying to figure out how we can remedy this, is there a virtualization solution that will allow devices with driver issues to passthru to the Guest OS? I was thinking XPMode may work for this solution however I am unsure if it runs 32bit or 64bit and if it'll allow driver-issue devices to pass to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Best Regards, Howard

    - by Jayron Soares
    Please someone can advise me how to approach a given problem: I have a sequential list of metadata in a document in MS Word. The case concerned a patenton "knee ction swing diffusers" used in aeration equipment for sewage treatment systems, and the question was whether "the maintenance and enforcement of a patent obtained by fraud before the patent office" may be a basis for antitrust punishment. Report of the evolution process: petitioner, in answer to respond .. Importance: a) First case which established an analysis for the diagnosis of dispute… There are about 200 pages containing the information above. I have in mind the idea of creating an algorithm in python to be able to break this information sequenced and try to store them in a web database[open source application that I’m looking for] in order to allow for free consultations ...
