  • Set environment variables using SSH

    Hello, I am trying to execute unix command using SSH from cygwin. My set of command would navigate to a certain directory, source a particular file. Based on the variables sourced from that file, I would try to launch application. But somehow the variables are not getting sourced as echo does not return any values. Could someone let me know what am I missing here Contents of the environment variables file (myenv) are export TEST_DATA="DATA1:DATA2" and I am executing the following command $ ssh kunal@kspace "ls; cd /disk1/kunal/env; . ./myenv; echo $TEST_DATA; "

  • installing ubuntu on SSD

    Going to install Ubuntu 10.10 on new intel x25M 80GB SSD. It will be fresh install. I have been googling for past few days and getting overwhelming articles/blogs/Q&As. One particularly very useful being: Optimize for SSD (I could not post other links as i dont have enough credits) But with so many suggestions and differences of opinions (on different links) this simple OS install process seems to be daunting task to me and I really want to stick with ubuntu (although have used for very short period of time). Can someone help me by answering few questions (yes they are repeated as i couldnt comprehend the answers elsewhere) which file system (ext2/3/4 or something else)? (consider SSD life) can it be changed after installation? should i partition the disk? (as we do in traditional HDD) for now, no plan of dual booting. Only ubuntu will live on scarce space of 80GB SSD. i have 2 GB RAM, should i still allocate swap space (if i dont allocate swap space, can i still hibernate the machine)? will swap space impact SSD life? should i consider putting additional 1GB RAM to avoid swap space? Linux experience - absolute novice intended usage - heavy browsing, programming, regular video/music and some other non-CPU/RAM-intensive programs. will backup big files to an external hard drive. laptop config - 3 yr old vaio, core2 duo, 2GB RAM Please pardon the repetition and i really appreciate anyone helping me getting started with ubuntu.

    Hello, I am using Tomcat 5.5.9 and Apache 2.x We are trying to use a path name in ProxyPass that is different than the Tomcat context name. ProxyPass /path http://localhost:8080/contextname However, this does not work. When these two are the same then everything works fine. Most examples I see on the net also have the path equal to the Tomcat context name. I am using "context.xml" within the Tomcat context and do NOT have "server.xml" entries. Also, I am using plain httd.conf and NOT using any VirtualHost entries. Any help is appreciated. Regards, Diptenu

    I am using Android HoneyComb.I need to execute some tasks parallely and I am using AsyncTask's public final AsyncTask executeOnExecutor (Executor exec, Params... params) method.In each separate thread I am computing some values and I need to store then in an ArrayList.I must then sort all the values in the arrayList and then display it in the UI.Now my question is if one of the thread gets completed earlier than the other then will it immediately call the onPostExecute method or onPostExecute method will be called after all the background threads have been completed?MY program implementation depends on what occurs here.

    Before asking question let me tell you some assumptions here there are 5 files on my webserver index.php config.php read.php write.php .htaccess I've wrote following URL rewriting rule in .htaccess RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^(\w+)$ read.php?id=$1 Now when I type domain.com/xyz it fetch data from read.php?id=xyz thats nice :) But when I type domain.com/index it fetch data from index.php or when i type domain.com/write or domain.com/config or domain.com/read it fetch data from write.php , config.php and read.php respectively I want data to be fectched from read.php?id=index or read.php?id=config or read.php?id=read or read.php?id=write Any one can help me regarding this ?     We are looking for a great commercial or free tool which can monitor all our remote employees and keep the reports centrally. We need it similar to Elance WorkView or oDesk "Team Room", what these tools do is: Take screenshots at random interval. Track the activity on computer based on key strokes. (not a necessity) It doesn't necessarily need to track time but will be good to have, our aim is to monitor employees and make sure they're working - that's all. I'll give oDesk Team Room 10/10 and I haven't been able to find such tool. Is there anyone who can suggest such tool? Thanks
