• Cannot Adjust Brightness on Acer Aspire 5332

  I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 with the Windows installer. It appears to be running fine, however the screen is extremely dull and I don't appear to be able to adjust the brightness... I entered the settings and tried to play with the brightness there, however there is no change in apparent brightness whether it is set to high or low on the menu. I am using an Acer Aspire 5332 with Windows 7 Ultimate. It is worth noting that the original keyboard from the laptop no longer works, so I am using a USB keyboard (meaning that I don't have access to the Fn keys)...

My question: Is there any means to upgrade from windows 2008 server CORE to full windows 2008 server? The server is used as Hyper-V Host machine.   On one of our servers we got an -for me new- BSOD with the error message: "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocation time interval" The server's specs: HP XW9400 2x Dual-Core AMD Opeteron 2224 SE 3,20Ghz (4CPUs) 16GB HP ECC RAM Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise 64bit Nvidia Quadro 4xxx graphics (?) • Authentication problem: can't bypass the login prompt when browsing to the SQL Reporing Services website

  I'm having a hard time configuring Reporting services on one of our servers. I'm not uninitiated in the domain of IIS7 but I cannot get rid of the login prompt when I'm surfing to the Reporting services website. What I did: I made a windows and SQL user with the same name: Then I choose Anonymous authentication in II7 and filled in the credentials of the specific R.S. user http://img32.imageshack.us/i/iis7auth.jpg/ I choose 'Local Service' as the service account in the R.S. configuration mgr http://img88.imageshack.us/i/rsconfigmgr.jpg/ The first problem is that there's always a pop-up when surfing to the website The second is that when I'm able to log in I get the message that the user doesn't have the appropriate permissions. • Internal message system with SQL database

  Hi all, I was asked to install a -rather basic- Internal message system with SQL database we could integrate with our websites. A user is logged onto the website and should then be able to go to its Inbox or outbox; of course they should be able to sent to other users. Important: It's not a smtp/pop mailserver system I'm looking for! • backup sql databases, folders; 7ZIP and copy to ftp

  Hi all, We are quite stuck with which solution to choose for this backup issue: What should happen: First, there should be an interface were to choose several sql databases (sort of checkboxes or whatsoever), also a few folders should be backed up - this could be part of the program or could be seperate, I think about an interface were to select folders, but a txt file (or xml) with paths-to-folders is as good. Next, everything should be 7Zipped, SQL-DB and files seperate. Eventually everything should be copied to a local network drive after which copied via FTP. Also important; it could be programmed or (partly) bought but I can't be one of those expensive backup tools $1000+ etc. I already found this fairly priced tool that does already most of the tasks 7ZIP and copy to ftp sqlbackupandftp.com For your information: we had a kind of self-made tool created by a collegue (some time ago) but it became very untrustworthy and as the databases grew it couldn't handle it anymore... moving on Please come up with suggestions.   Hi all! I know there have been a few topics here about password managers but I read them all and did not really find what I'm looking for. What I'd need is a free or cheap (most password mgr software is $500 for 20+ users, exaggerated!) multi-user password manager, highly preferable web-based so that we can host it on one of our local server, of Hyper-V VM's. So: -free or cheap ( <100$) -multi-user of groups -web based -not very hard to install I tried a few, one very expensive, one I did not get to work- Web Keepass Manager This works with tomcat and probably conflicts with our IIS 7.0 or 7.5 PS: thus, nothing online (!) it has to stay local Thanks in advance!

• How do I fix cfdisk error: "Partition ends in final partial cylinder"?

  The problem I want to install Arch Linux on my desktop, it is going to be a dual boot with Windows. I booted into the installation CD, but when I started cfdisk to partition my hard drive it gave me the following error: FATAL ERROR: Primairy parititon 1, partition ends in the final partial cylinder. • Apache Bench length failures

  I am running Apache Bench against a Ruby on Rails XML-RPC web service that is running on Passenger via mod_passenger. All is fine when I run 1000 requests without concurrency. Bench indicates that all requests successfully complete with no failures. When I run Bench again with a concurrency level of 2, however, requests start to fail due to content length. I am seeing failures rates of 70-80% when using concurrency. This should not happen. The requests I am sending to the web service should always results in the same response. I have used cURL to verify that this is in fact the case. My Rails log is not showing any errors as well so I am curious to see what content Bench actually received and interpreted as a failure. Is there any way to print these failures?

  I'm looking to achieve the following: For a specific person, for example BarackObama, I'd like to get the last 100 times/tweets he was mentioned. Not his own tweets but the tweets of others containing @BarackObama. In the end I'd like to have: the person who mentioned, location, datetime. This content should be written to a flat file. I've been experimenting with the Twitter API and Python, with success but haven't yet succeeded achieving the above problem. I know there is a dev sections on the twitter website but they don't provide any example of code!! https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/get/statuses/mentions count=100 .... For me the scripting language or way of doing is not relevant it's the result. I just read on the internet that python and Twitter api are a good match. Thanks a lot in advance!!
